A wolf in Pony's clothing
Dr.Wolf finished his last session, he brought his paw to his chest and took a deep breath in then he waved his paw out and breathed out. He listened to the clock for a while and finally said "It's... Good to be helping..." He had a slight hesitation in his voice and his ears went off in opposite directions and down. He hopped down from his chair and landed softly on the pads of his feet, making a soft pap sound that made his tail hide in between his legs.
He was tired, of his paws, of his tail, his nose, and just himself in general, he was tired of being a wolf. He fell to his front paws and slid down the hall that seemed to be like the one in 60's mystery cartoons. He finally stopped at the last door at the end of the hall on the right. A smaller beige room with a basket, a counter, and a desk with a laptop placed on top of it revealed itself behind the door. Several candles where neatly placed on the counter top, he lit half of the candles and his nose immediately started to pick up on the sent of the flame then cinnamon, lavender, bacon, baked bread, and pumpkin spice. He then trotted to his bed, a large wicker basket with a larger round cushion stuffed into it and a flannel blanket spilling over it on to the floor, a mangy tennis ball was placed neatly in the center. he flopped on his back onto the sheet and stared at the ceiling listening to the small pops and cracks his room made. He remembered staring at the walls blankly, listening, to every noise his office made when he first moved into it singing along with the soft whistles of wind that snakes their way through slightly cracked windows, "My dog does that." he remembers a lavender foal telling him "he only has three legs and is blind in one eye, with the medical bills through the roof. He's being put down tomorrow, then I'll get a new one." Dr. Wolf wasn't a dog, but he was still a canine and even though he didn't show it to the obviously spoiled filly, he felt almost completely useless and replaceable, 'then I'll get a new one' it echoed through his head like it was furniture. He flipped over and got into a crescent position, he faced the tennis ball and bit it, pressing down on it with his left premolars making it squee.
Lights fluttered around and took on shapes; soft pretzels, fluffy puppies, feathers, friends. Then feelings seemed to manifest; belly rubs, pats, ear scratches and horse hair brushes on damp fur. After that the feelings escaped and emotions seemed to bicker with each other in shapeless forms
"Oh, what's the point, we should just give up before anything else bad happens..." sadness moaned
"It's not fair, we should fight for it!" shouted anger
"You're all over-reacting." stated contentedness
"OVER REACTING!!! Are you forgetting who we're talking about!? IT'S ME!!! I want it I should have it and I don't!!!" Narcissism complained "and how can you blame me!? I'm adorable, I should always get what I want."
"We have plenty of people who say that they love us as, well, us." whispered Loving
"Love is great and all but what about power? Magic? Friends? Money!?" grunted Greed
They continued to bicker even though most of them agreed with each other the usual understanding they had with each other became lost, they started to argue, and even mix together; Greed and love mixed to create lust, anger and sadness mixed to create fear, apathy and happiness mixed to make laziness and so on, they started to get even further out of control and started to create visuals to go along with their combinations; first a yellow pegasus, she moved like spring, lively and warm, soft rays of sunlight flooded her hair making it look like a pink fire falling down to her hooves. Long eyelashes where covered in light dew, they flew back to reveal two deep blue gems
All of a sudden it all stopped, Dr. Wolf was sitting on his hindquarters with his paws placed neatly in front of him, 'sit pretty', he remembered, puppy school seemed like such a long time ago. he kindly slipped out of that position and stood on his hind legs, a dark blue alicorn stood tall above him and gave a friendly smirk.
"What's on your mind, Dr.Wolf?"
He flattened his ears and blushed he was afraid to say 'I want to be a pony', he was afraid to speak at all, and all that cam out of his mouth was a soft whimper and half bark that dissolved into a wobbly groan.
"D'aw, it's ok Dr.Wolf I already know, here."
He floated into the air an his appearance started to change, his four toes meshed into one, his knees inverted, skull elongated, and he finally took the shape of a pony, he wobbled with happiness and Immediately twisted to see his flank, and a clipboard with a pen that drew a heart occupied it. he looked up at Luna with accidental puppy-dog eyes.
"Now, go." She pointed her hoof towards his office that materialized from nowhere.
Dr. Wolf sat in his chair in his usual upright fashion, it was odd, his new hooves where heavy, and he felt slower, but he was a pony! he contained his excitement and attempted to wag his tail. A soft knock was heard at the door he teleported to the door with magic and opened it, it was Fluttershy she was looking down, probably expecting the small Wolf from last week, but was greeted with a tall grey stallion with the same hair, glasses and everything, but not Dr. Wolf, not her Dr.Wolf.
"So tell me what's on your mind, Fluttershy." he even sounded like Dr.Wolf
"Uh, nothing much, I uh..." she stuttered and kept looking at the clock through out the whole session and left even more stressed than when she entered it was that way through all of them, it seemed like being a pony made everyone even more afraid of him than being a wolf, who where infamous for hurting ponies. He went outside and instead of being greeted by ponies who would often mistake him for a dog if he didn't have his suit on (which he didn't), he was greeted with hollow smiles and compliments that where no more than sweet nothings. He had what he wanted, but he didn't , he wanted the respect of a tame wild animal, curiosity of foals, praise, and mostly love.
"I-I'm not a pony..." he whimpered as he returned to his wolf form and ponyville dissipated around him, "I'm a wolf... A Dr. Wolf." he stood proudly and heard Luna giggle behind him.
"Did that help?"
"Yes, thank you kindly, Luna"
"It's good to be helping." Luna contained her laughter and leapt through a portal "see you later, Doctor!"
He felt accomplished, and when he woke up he had a new appreciation for his paws.
