Fallout Equestria: Stars and Stripes

I've seen many worlds. I've seen five wars. I've seen death like few others have. After thirty eight years of traveling the stars some people say I've seen it all.
I'm a wanderer, that's my job title at least. Basically I get paid by the government to float around the galaxy discovering new planets and cataloging it for research. It's a nice enough job, it pays well, since the government is unable to fund massive explorations into the unknown so they pay a handsome amount for independent explorers.
It's peaceful, no deadlines no company policies, just me and the stars. I travel alone, the ship's pretty small. Almost like cozy apartment... In space. It gets a little lonely but hey in space no one can complain about your old school jams.
(Sigh) Why am I even writing this journal? No one else is ever going to read it. At least no humans ever will.
I guess my point is, folks say I've seen everything, I have seen nothing like the Equestrian wastelands, and there's still so much I haven't seen. 200 years ago this world was a beautiful place, inhabited by colourful talking ponies with magical powers... I know, it sounds like one of those toy shows from the 1980s.
Well things changed. Other nations envied the land of Equestria for their natural resources like magic crystals. Combat arose and eventually changed to a religious dispute. At some point they invented something called a megaspell much like our nuclear bombs. Tensions rose until they finally hit the button and transformed the entire pastel planet into a barren world full of radiation, mutants, zombies, and numerous factions struggling for control... War never changes.
