Dark. Stormy. Cold. This was the night outside the home of three girls. Three girls who were currently having money issues. The house was extremely cramped. One bedroom, a sad excuse for a kitchen, and a bathroom. There wasn't any heater. The trio often struggled to keep warm on a wintery nights like this. No beds. Only a recliner chair, a cheap sofa, and a mattress. It had been a few months since the residents of this home suffered a defeat by the hands of the Rainbooms. Not that their loss was at all related to their financial problems. But it certainly hadn't helped either. The owners of this poor abode were no other than Adagio Dazzle, Aria Blaze, and Sonata Dusk. Adagio was working late shifts trying to earn enough money for the trio to get by. And this frightening night was no different. Adagio was out trying to earn her minimum wage, and likely wasn't gonna be back for a few hours minimum.
Two sirens were sound asleep... or at least one of them was. Aria was passed out on the couch, as per usual. But the blue haired siren was wide awake. Shaking like a lamb. She couldn't sleep. How could she? Not with all the wind and rain outside. Not to mention the thunder. In darkness, a sudden flash of light and the ear shattering boom of thunder made Sonata jump a little and whimper to herself. How she wished Adagio was there to calm her down. Their leader may act like quite the tough nut, but when the situation calls... Adagio can be very sweet. When Sonata feels scared, Adagio is always the one to calm her down.
Sonata sat by herself in the darkness. Becoming just that much more frightened every lighting strike, and every clap of thunder.
She looked towards her sleeping teammate. Aria was never much for comforting, but Sonata didn't know how much more it would take before she had a panic attack. So she quietly made her way over to the moody siren, fast asleep of the sofa. She took a deep breath and poked Aria.
"Psssst. Ari, are you awake?" Sonata waited hesitantly for a response.
"NO." were the only words that came from Aria's tired mouth.
Sonata laughed. "Silly, if you were asleep, how could you have answered my question?"
With a sleepy yawn, and an exaggerated roll of the eyes, Aria responded, "Ok, you got me. You got me. So uh, what do you want?"
Sonata twiddled her thumbs. Without answering Aria's simple question.
"Hey, what's the problem It's late."
A loud booming sound from outside and Sonata shrieked. At this, Aria chuckled. "oK, once again, what is it you want scaredy cat?"
"I can't sleep..." Sonata murmured, looking down at the floor.
"And...?" The purple siren asked, showing no sympathy or concern what so ever.
Aria was always like this. She was very self centered and didn't tend to concern herself with the problems of others. But sometimes, just sometimes. It seemed like she was willing to help her fellow sirens when the situation called for it. Sometimes, it was almost as if she cared about them. Weird... But none the less. This gave the shaken Sonata some hope. So she persisted.
"Can... you help me go to sleep? I'm really scared."
A long, awkward, silence. Aria blinked. "Hell no." Aria rolled back over a attempted to resume her much needed rest.
Sonata held onto Aria's arm and frantically shook her lazy figure. "Come on Ari! Adagio always calms me down when I'm stressed."
This grabbed Aria's attention. "What? you really expect me to believe that our leader, aka, "ruthless control freak." Sooths you like a mother, and helps you calm down."
"Yeah, pretty much." Sonata felt her hope slipping down the drain.
She wasn't lying. And Aria should've known that too. Adagio may not help her calm down and get to sleep, but she is there for Aria when she really needs her. As rare an occasion as that might be. One time, Aria started a fight with a couple of guys from Canterlot High. Sure she had started it, but seriously didn't finish it. Not by herself at least. Its not like she had much of a chance. It was just her up against two jock guys in their prime. She was on the ground when Adagio found her. Broken noses and bloody wounds. Adagio had hurried to her side. She even broke the nose of the guy who had broken Aria's. After having just gotten punched in the face by a very angry siren, he got up and ran. His friend followed close behind. Either out of loyalty to his pal, or out of fear of being on the receiving end of an Adagio punch. Not only that, but Adagio had helped Aria up and gotten her home. After that she was the one to patch her up. As said, she could be a very kind siren when she needs to be.
But Aria was kind of a lost cause...
"Yeah.... No." The grumpy girl said, turning over to get some sleep. Once again, Sonata spoke up.
"Look, I understand, you don't like me very much... but I'd really appreciate this. Please Aria... Please?"
Aria sighed... "It's not that I don't like you idiot... " Yet another strong silence. Certainly not the first that night.
"I can't bealive I'm about to say this... But you and Adagio are two of the only things in Equestria... erm, this dimension?... Whatever! You two are few of the only things I can actually say I care about." The last part said rather quietly, but Sonata heard every word of it.
"You... care about me? I thought I was the worst." Sonata wasn't the sharpest tool In the shed. But she knew all to well this was defiantly not something you'd hear everyday. Aria Blaze... ARIA BLAZE just said she cared about something. And those something's were her and Adagio no less.
"Of course I care about you, moron. You guys are the closest thing to family I've ever had."
BOOM! Another loud rumble of thunder. And yet another small whimper from Sonata.
Aria looked at the scared face of the shaken siren before her. She couldn't believe what she was about to do.
*Sigh* "Fine. Get your butt up here. I'll see what I can do."
"For realizes?!?" Sonata was now sporting a smile, wide a mile.
"Yeah, yeah. But hurry up before I change my freaking mind." For the first time in a while, Aria was smiling. She patted the couch next to her and yawned. Sonata climbed up there, still wearing a goofy grin. Or at least she was until another crash of lightning sounded. She jumped a little, and started shaking again. It was then that something unexpected happened.
Aria leaned over and hugged Sonata. Sonata shook with fright. Aria did her best to calm the frazzled girl. "Shhhh shhhh, it's ok. Nothing is going to hurt you.... it's fine." Another audible thunder clap, and Sonata hugged Aria back, but began shaking a little less.
"Y-you've never been this nice to me before." Sonata, though still shaking, was kind of smiling.
"Yeah, well...I guess you usually go to Dagi for help, but... for all the crap I put you through I figured this is the least I can do. Besides, I already confirmed that I care about you... Never tell anyone though."
Sonata leaned back and rested her head across Aria's lower torso. Aria smiled, and stayed with Sonata until she was fast asleep. She carefully got up, making sure not to wake the snoozing numbskull in front of her. She tucked Sonata in, and let her keep the couch. Aria made her way to the mattress laying in the corned of the room. This was were Sonata usually slept. Tonight, it would be the resting place of Aria Blaze. As Aria got nice and cozy under Sonata's blanket, she looked back at her sleeping peacefully. Once more tonight, Aria smiled. Under her breath whispered,
"Sweet dreams idiot."
She yawned and fell into sleep. Feeling much happier than she had earlier that night.
Adagio walked into the broken down apartment. She was exhausted from her late shift. She changed into her sleeping cloths and went to get some sleep. On the way to her recliner, she noticed a Purple haired siren sleeping on the mattress Sonata usually dwelled. She looked at the couch, only to see a sleeping Sonata. Adagio was almost certain of what had happened. She had taken notice of the thunderstorm and figured Sonata would be wide awake, but she wasn't. And Adagio thought she knew why . She leaned over Aria and whispered, "I don't know if your awake, and if you can hear me... but that was very sweet of you. Nighty night jerk face." Adagio found her place on her recliner, she got herself comfy. But before closing her eyes, she thought to herself...
"Those morons are finally starting to get along" She smiled, and closed her eyes for some much needed rest.

I wanted to write something involving cute sirens.
I was struggling between this being a shipping or a friendshipping, I went with friendshipping.
Anyways, While writing "What a Pinkamena Surprise." I'll also releasing some one shots.
