Prologue: Beyond the Walls
The sun reached its full peak in the blue sky above, and it shared its rays with all below. The light gleamed through the canopy of the giant tree forest and scattered all over the floor. Splotches of shadow also dotted the ground. A strong, Western wind rushed through the green leaves of the humongous trees and ruffled thousands of leaves, stirring up a loud whoosh. Patches of lush pink and red flowers at the forest floor swayed in the breeze as the strong wind had no effect on the vegetation of the surface.
In a small clearing, standing on a boulder, a pint-sized lifeform was taking his valuable time to breathe in and out periodically. The life form was a quadruped. Each of his legs were hoofed, and a clicking noise was made as he slowly tapped one on the rock. The equine possessed a deep red coat with a blonde mane and a long, matching tail. Adorning his flank, which was hard to see through his green cape, was a cloud being impaled by two straight, golden swords. Besides the green cape that draped over his shoulders, both of his wings were armed at the tip with ten-inch blades. A small smile was pasted to his face and his green irises scanned whatever was ahead of him. He took a deep breath in and filled his lungs with the oxygen the giant trees provided for him. He returned the favor by exhaling carbon dioxide for the trees to continue the cycle of photosynthesis. What a glorious Spring afternoon!
The snapping of a twig made his right ear twitch. The happy expression quickly turned into a startled one, followed by a quick spin of his head. The crimson equine unfolded the wings to his sides as he readied himself for an enemy that was prepared to attack. But, emerging from the bushes was a sky blue pegasus. He was smaller than the crimson flier, even his silver mane was shorter, but it still brushed his eyebrows in the front. Indigo eyes gazed at the larger pegasus.
"Sorry, Commander," the blue pegasus apologized. "I didn't mean to startle you, but-"
"Jet Stream, there's no need for apologies," the commander started, interrupting the blue pegasus. The crimson flier fluttered towards the blue pegasus, Jet Stream, who waited at the bottom of the boulder. "You and I both know the real danger in this forsake forest, and they make a louder approach than just the snapping of a twig."
Jet Stream shuddered, sighed, and said, "Speaking of which, Commander, there were a few Titans spotted south from here."
"How many were spotted?"
"We've counted fifteen, sir, and we were detected by them."
"How tall are they?"
"They range from 10-15 meters. Are you going to give the kill order?"
"I'll give the order, but this is our last one. We head back home as soon as we are done. Do you understand?"
Jet Stream nodded in response. "Yes, Commander Sky, I understand." He turned around and flew quickly to the rest of the squadron to address the commands. Crimson Sky, the commander's full name, turned back around and began to smile again after he rediscovered the beautiful surroundings. Crimson loved the sights outside of his home. He heard a rumbling to his left and turned to investigate. He only saw more trees, but overhead, a storm was brewing. The first rain droplets fell onto the stone around Crimson Sky.
