For Cloudburst, life in the Grand Pegasus Enclave was a breeze. Sure; being a flightless pegasus was never the easiest thing, but it was a far cry from the daily struggle of the wasteland. But when his brother is killed in action, he finds himself cast out of his home and trapped beneath the cloud barrier, caught up in the armed conflict between the totalitarian Northern Republic and the barbaric Marked Legion that threatens to destroy Stalliongrad for the third time.
Taking in a young filly and a dimensionally-displaced human child, he sets off on a mission to cross the Divide and reach the fabled Crystal Empire to return his companion to her home. But things are never that simple, and as the war for the Divide rages on, he'll find the fate of the north is increasingly in his hooves.
