The Reemerging Doctor
The Last Summer...
Load Full StorySeven years ago in summer...
The sun was so warm against my wings as I attempted to operate on the severely injured doll. The doll was so damaged. The end of the operation made the doll look like it was revitalized to it's original form... But better. Something came over me, and I couldn't believe that I could manage this. I opened my mouth and a great big "Success!" escaped my lips.
"What are you so jolly for?" Soarin', my philly acquaintance entered my secret tree house.
"Wha-? Oh, umm I guess I saved the doll... Wait how did you find my secret club house?" I backed up to the wall hiding the doll.
"I have my sources," Soarin' raised his head pompously and saw the perfectly fixed doll. "Wow, that's really good! Did you get your cutie mark yet?" He stared at the flank that I hid.
I stood and gazed at my flank which held a beautiful cutie mark. It was a perfect rectangle with a heart in the side and a heart beat meter. I pranced around happily staring at my newly made cutie mark. Soarin' glanced at me awkwardly, then chuckled at the hysterical scene. "Want to go celebrate?" He said flying out of the window and signalling for me to come down. I hesitated looking down at the grin on his face, but flew down anyway. I smiled at him while I flew down. My coat glistened the gold color of the sun and my main was short but cute. The front was cut straight, but my tail was more wavy like little old Fluttershy in Cloudsdale.
By the time I got to the ground, someone else called. "Hey, Soarin' what's up? Want to hang out?" Spitfire hollered at Soarin'.
Soarin' eyes glittered as he layed eyes on Spitfire. "Sorry HeartWarmer, Catch you later?" Soarin' swiftly flew to Spitfire leaving me to alone.
I stared at him as he left and sighed to myself,"There isn't going to be a next time..." I walked home somberly. I opened the door to my house slowly staring at the ground.
"Hey my cute little philly!" My mother chimed.
"Mother! Guess what? I got my cutie mark! See!" I showed her my flank that is no longer blank.
"HeartWarmer, that's amazing! Now we can leave Manehattan now. We'll leave for Canterlot and pursue your career as a doctor."
"Yes mother..." I sighed. I strolled to my bedroom and took a long awaited slumber.
By the time I came to, It was already morning. "Oh no! I am unable to say goodbye," tears welled up in my eyes as I let out tiny sobs.
I packed my bags slowly picking everything that brought me memories. I grabbed "The Wonderbolts" poster and placed it in my bags catching one last glance at the tiny Soarin'.
Present Day in summer
"Hello Doctor HeartWarmer!" A regular nurse greeted me as soon as I walked through the door. "Doctor Hooves needs your assistance in the surgery."
I knew this would happen as soon as I left home for work. They would always need my help. "Okay," I said with a fake smile.
I galloped quickly to the room that needed my aid. "Dr. Hooves, what's the prognosis?" I said calmly, but with strict concern.
"She's got considerably severe brain hemorrhaging," Dr. Hooves breathed heavily.
"Just hand it over to me," I pulled on my mask.
Just a few more moments I chanted multiple times in my head during the surgery. After just a few hours the surgery was a success. The unicorn nurses that helped me wiped away any sweat that seemed to escape. "Thank you guys. Without you guys this wouldn't have been such a huge success," I smiled exhausted at the nurses that helped me. "You really did it again HeartWarmer," Dr. Hooves praised me.
In that moment the press rushed to get my picture. I tried to shield my eyes from the constant flashing lights. The hospital security kicked the press out of the hospital soon after. Everything was so slow after that. There wasn't much work left after 10:00 p.m, so I was allowed to leave the premises.
I finally got home to my luxury apartment. I glanced longingly at the progress of "The Wonderbolts" as I detached my coat on the couch. I sighed stretching my wings and staring at the heavy bags under my eyes. I slumped on the bed and quickly fell asleep.
The press got me and never left me alone. I tried to evade them but nothing seemed to work. They followed me everywhere I go. I have no privacy anymore and I can't seem to relieve my stress. It's just so stressing.
The next day was almost exactly the same as any other working day. There was another severe patient, but this time it wasn't so easy. I tried so hard. I did all the procedures. Nothing seemed to work. I panicked over and over again. Finally, the heart monitor flat lined. At the end of the surgery, I cried kicking the walls in. Soon the speakers in the hospital call for me.
I slowly walked to the front office. My boss, the chief, sat angry and disappointed at his desk. "I apologize for this HeartWarmer, but due to the current issue with the surgery and your vandalism, I must dispel you from the Canterlot Hospital."
"What? That patient was my only mistake! I need another chance! Dr. Hooves made hundreds of mistakes!" I cried.
"I know that HeartWarmer. But since the press is covering a story of the best doctor in Equestria. It is a great disappointment that she has made a terrible mistake." The chief sighed at turned his chair away.
"Fine!" I threw my coat at him and ran home as fast as I could.
When I got home, I cried and cried on my pillow until I slept with my makeup running non stop.
