Chapters Twilight Sparkle was pacing and forth in front of her friends; just out side the E.R. in the waiting room. They all had different looks of worry. Alas Twilight's pacing was only making them worry more.
Applejack's hat was covering her face as she she she as slumped in a chair. Fluttershy was sitting down in a chair while Rainbow Dash was trying to reassure her that everything was fine. Pinkie Pie's mane was straight and face looked much like how a puppy's would after someone kicked it. Finally Rarity was trying to calm Twilight.
"Twilight, please sit down! Your going to wear through the floor at this rate."
Rarity's concerns were met with more pacing.
"Twilight please!" She started "You're to scaring Fluttershy." She finished in a tone barely above a whisper.
Twilight stopped her pacing to look at her friends. Her eyes scanned over her friends. "I-I'm sorry it's just... It's just she we tried to first lift her. The scr-" Her body shivered "Her Scream... It's just that scream. Rarity do you know how much pain she would have been in for her to be in? That mare... That mare in there is- was in an amount of pain I couldn't even start to imagine!" Tears began to form at the edges of her eyes.
"Darling." Rarity walked over to Twilight wrapping a single hoof around her friends back. "She is going to be fine. I can feel it in my heart." she soothed.
At that moment Doctor Horse walked through the E.R. doors. His light brown mane was a mess, his dark cyan eyes were sad. As well his cream caramel coat had a few droplets of blood on it. All eyes were on him.
Apple Jack spoke up, her hat no longer hiding her face. "Doc, is she alright?"
He just adjusted his glasses his sad look not leaving his face."I have some good news and some bad new."
"Ah asked if that mare was okay?!" Apple Jack almost yelled.
The doctor's face or tone didn't change. "Well Miss Jack that is the good news."
"And the bad?" Rainbow Dash cut in.
"Well you see Miss Dash it seems our new friend here was on the brink of death..."
"Oh my..." Fluttershy whimpered.
"She has suffered minor asphyxiation from drowning, as well it seems her wings are also suffering from severe exhaustion."
"Ah already know she was drowning! Whats this as-fik-c-ate-shon?"
"AJ it means, 'lack of oxygen'." Twilight said.
"Oh..." Apple Jack looked back at the stallion "But why are her wings messed up Doc?"
"For the same reason your legs get tired. She over worked them."
"But Doctor that doesn't make any sense."
"Why not Miss Sparkle?"
"No, the wings and drowning part both make sense. I mean why do you have blood on your coat!"
"Blood?" He ask in confusion as he looked at his coat. "Oh this? Well when we were sedating her she had a strange reaction to my magic and went into a coughing fit. We just had to use a syringe that is all. Nothing to worry about."
"So she'll be okay?" Pinkie Pie asked hopefully.
"Yes Miss Pie, she will be fine." He said with a bitter sweet smile.
Pinkie pit jumped up with a "YIPPEE!" and with that her straight mane went back to it's wild curls with a poof. "So does that mean I can throw her a 'Get Well Soon Party'?"
"She has ta be up fer it first, Pinkie." Apple Jack said.
Pinkie expression fell at her friends words.
"It'll give you more time to plain it though, and I'm sure she'll love it, darling." Rarity reassured her friend.
"But the party will have to wait until I have a few words with Miss Sparkle." Doctor Horse stated.
"Okay." She responded calmly.
"In private."
A chorus of "Oh"s and "Ah"s were heard as the Doctor led Twilight out of the waiting room and into a patient's room. The room had to beds like most other rooms, one bed just out of Twilight's view to a privacy curtain. The doctor levitated over to chairs and motioned for her to sit down.
Sitting down, Twilight asked "So Doctor what did you want to talk about?"
"Miss Sparkle do you know how Salt Water Taffy is made?"
"What does this ha-" She was cut off.
"Please... Just answer the question."
Twilight pinched the bridge of her nose and waved her other hoof saying. "I have an idea."
"Well that makes this easier. You would be surprise how many ponies don't know how Salt Water Taffy is made." The Doctor said.
"And once again, I must say What does this ha-" She was once again cut off.
"Oh sorry, I got off track. Well you know how the Taffy is pulled spun then squished back together. Every once in a while they might add something new, like dyes or extra sugar; rinse and repeat."
"Yes, a fairly simple procedure."
"Okay, now take that concept and apply it to a pony."
"Doctor are you telling me what I think you're telling me?"
"Yes indeed it is exactly what I am telling you," He got out of his seat "Somepony took that mare you brought in..." He said walking over to the privacy curtain and opened it. "and made her their science project."
The mare that lying there was knocked out, her chest raised and fell under the hospital blanket. Her coat a dull dark blue, and her deep blue mane that had streaks of night sky blue was still soaking wet.
Doctor Horse walked over to the sleeping patient and with a tongue depressor opened her mouth. This action revealed two sharp fangs.
"Doctor why does she ha-have fangs?" Twilight asked shakily.
"Well you are the one that gave her C.P.R. I was hoping you could tell me."
"Actually that was Fluttershy..."
"Oh okay, but do not worry she is not a vampire." He let out a dry laugh. "The fangs seemed to be made out of metal, more than likely steel. Think of it like when you give a hunting dog steel canines."
"Why would ANY pony get steel fangs!?"
"She didn't."
"What do you mean?" She asked even though she feared she might be right.
"I was hoping that maybe I was wrong, but if you look around her 'fangs' you can see a large about of damage, cuts, bruises, and swelling." He lifted her upper lip. "So either she put these in her self or they were put in against her will."
"Doctor, who... who would do that?"
The doctor turned to Twilight his face and voice taking an unsettling dark tone. "That Miss Sparkle, is exactly what I wish to find out." His face softened as he looked back at the mare. "But back with the Taffy, her body seems to have taken a large amount of abuse and has traces of necro magic. It seems somepony took her apart then put her back together; Chopped off a few things here and there, and added new ones! Here come look at this." He led the other unicorn to the side of the bed, he then lifted the blanket. He grabbed a wing and slowly opened it. "If you look at the base of her wing you can see a large amount of scaring."
"Those aren't her own wings?"
"Indeed, sadly we will not be able to know if she had wings before or if these are new to her until she wakes up. There is also simpler scaring around things like the ears and her right hind leg." He slowly slid the wing back under the sleeping mare as he talked.
"Why can't you just do a spell 'D-"
"Miss Sparkle we can not use spells; they might kill her."
"What! How?"
"You are not a doctor, so I would not expect you to know. You see some times when a patient is in critical condition their body will lash-out at any foreign magic. It just seems her body decided it was better to go with the 'you will not take me alive' rout though."
"Her own body was killing her because of your magic." Twilight sat down.
"Yes" The Doctors face fell. "If only she was awake." The doctor said opening one of her bright teal eyes. "Then we might just learn how broken she is."
"Yeah. I- just- I'm just glad I have and idea why she was in so much pain."
"Yes... we should probably let her sleep for now. She has had it far worse than Humpty Dumpty ever did sadly..." And with that he shut her eye, closed the curtain and began walking out the door.
"Humpty Dumpty? What does an old foals tale have to do with this?" Twilight asked.
"You know the story, 'Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the king's knights and all the king's friends, Couldn't put Humpty together again.'"
"Yes I know the story."
"It is just at least Humpty was put out of his misery, that mare in there will have to suffer through it."
"oh... But why does everypony keep calling her that mare? Didn't you find any medical records?"
"Yes indeed, We are look for medical records as we speak. But I could not find her on any of our records so far. I fear we may not either, I am also afraid to put out any missing posters."
"Why?"
"Because what if the monsters that did this knew her?" He said through clenched teeth.
"I didn't think of that."
"That is why I am going to have nurse Red Heart and a guard on her at all times."
"Really? Isn't that a bit much?"
"I do not believe it is. Who ever did those things to her put too much time in to their 'project' and will comeback and I will be ready."
"Why are you telling me this Doctor?"
"Because I know you will do the right thing if anything happens to that mare, you can contact the princess."
"I really don't lik-"
"Do not worry. I only want you to contact her in the event of an emergency!" And with that the two ponies past through the E.R. doors and back out into the group of five mares.
"Twi, I'm no expert but ah'm more than sure that was a tad bit more than a 'few words'."
The doctors serous look diapered and was replaced with a 'happy-go-luck' look. "Ah! I am so sorry Miss Jack I just got a little bit carried away." He smiled brightly. "It was just medical talk."
"Can we see her?!" Pinkie Pie jumped on, as in she jumped on Doctor Horse hugging him while giving him the biggest puppy dog eyes she could.
"We still have some test to run, Miss Pie."
"Please? " Pinkie begged
"No." The Doctor deadpanned
"Pretty Please? "
"No."
"Pretty pretty Please? "
"No."
"Pretty pretty pretty Please with a stethoscope on top? "
"When she is alright you will be the first to know."
"Fine." She grumbled as she hopped of the Doctor.
"Will she be alright?" Fluttershy asked
"She will be alright, some time and rest is all she needs" Doctor Horse reassured her "and some painkillers" But he said that last part to himself.
"Thank you for answering my question.I know you didn't have to so it's really appreciated... With you being busy and all." Fluttershy squeaked.
"Now I am positive Miss Pie will tell you the moment I tell her you girls can see your new friend." The Doctor gave a small smile. "Now off with you."
On that note the girls made their way out but not before Doctor Horse whispering to Twilight. "Don't forget our deal." And with that he walked back into the hospital, and out of Twilight's view.
Chapter 2: Familiar Faces
The ever changing cobble stone road rippled at each hoof step. The pitch black sky could be seen through the towering pinewood trees. The grass along the sides of the path was a blood red. The world was that of fantasy, but that was a fact in many dream realms. The ever changing world of the dreamer. Princess Luna knew this fact very well. Truth be told Luna did get lonely in these endless worlds. Luckily though to night was different.
"Luna, wait up!" Cried a voice from behind her.
"What is wrong sister?" Luna replied.
"This whole place feels wrong."
"Tis but a dream, Tia."
Celestia gave her sister a deadpanned expression. "I know that. It just feels like we're being watched."
"That is because we are." The blue alicorn stated calmly.
"What?" Celestia asked while looking over her shoulders.
"The pony dreaming can 'see' us. We say 'see' in the same why thou would use hear under water. The pony's vision of us is muddy at best, they more than likely don't even relies we are real."
"Ah I see, it's like when you see something in the corner of your eye. You know it's there you just don't pay it mind."
"Yes, exactly." Luna said happily be for lighting her horn.
"Are we done with this one already?"
"There seem to be no nightmares so we must go. Most ponies don't enjoy someone else looking at their desires." And with that a nearby tree began to crack. A single crack formed straight down the middle of the tree, a blacken glow around it.
"Why must we traverse it like this?" The white alicorn asked.
"Like what?" The cracked tree began to rip open revealing a blacken abyss.
"Last time the portal opened under us and we fell through the stars. It just feels all to random."
"How would you rather we travel?" The void's outer edge had a slight white glow.
"Just cast the spell and we teleport to a new pony's dream."
"Sister, thou must understand that the realm of dreams is not as straight forward as the realm of the awake. The laws of magic hold almost no power here. One pony had a dream where gravity repelled instead of attracted. Thou can only imagine how strange it was. As well the portal into somepony's dream is a reflection of them self." A single golden ribbon floated out of the black portal, it waved to them to them as if in unfelt breeze. The golden ribbon stayed there, like how a rope looks when lowered through a hole.
"I see. It still feels silly." The white princess huffed.
Luna let out a small laugh at this. "Let us be on our way."
Celestia smirked and simply stated. "Lets."
The two sister's stepped through the portal. The only indication they where moving was blackened blues rushing past them. The single ribbon floated in between the two sisters, endlessly stretching down the blacken tunnel. Luna kept her eyes forward and her feet firmly planted as they moved. Celestia on the other hand looked down, only to see an endless nothingness. The only sign she was even standing on anything was the pressure she felt at her hooves and the lack of it when she lifted a hoof.
"Sister, what is up with the ribbon?" Celestia asked her sister.
"Like we said every portal represents the dreamer, but we did forget to talk about the 'ribbons'. These 'ribbons' are bacicaly the dreamers magic. It is how we enter our subjects minds."
"Every creature have magic though, does that mean you can enter a Canine's mind? or a Minotaur's?"
"Sadly no. We have tried, it seems we can only enter a creature of the same race."
"Well, I'm sure the other races would be worried if they thought even their own minds were no longer safe for secrets." The White mare went quiet, but before her sister could get any ideas she spoke up again. "I didn't mean to sound like I wanted to probe the minds off foreign diplomats! I just was speaking from their point of view."
"We understand, sister." The star maned alicorn reassured.
Before Celestia could speak they were thrown forward. Both princesses being caught of guard fell the the ground. Both of them letting out unlady like screams.
"Aghhh" Celestia groaned. "What happened?"
"It seems we have reached our dreamer." Luna said as she got up. She looked out to the endless black rock that was the ground. A think fog hung over everything. The night sky didn't hold a single star in it. The moon could be seen through the fog. The moon itself was surrounded by the clouded night sky. Finally the most noticeable feature of the night sky was the unicorn face that sat on the moon.
All around the sisters were blue robed ponies with a single crescent moon embroidered where their Cutie Mark would be. They walked around with no clear destination, some talked to each other in muffed conversation. The eldest alicorn walked over to one trying to see their face but was unable to, the face seeming to change too fast for her to take in any real features. Looking around she noticed all of the robed ponies were like this. Their genders and faces were unknown, their race however could be seen with some having horns or wings.
"Luna, why are there so many robed ponies?" Celestia asked.
"The mind always reverts to what is most familiar to them. Being ponies they know, their home, or a family pet." Luna replied as she began walking.
"So does this pony know these ponies?" The elder sister asked as she walked next to her sister.
"No, you would be able to see their faces then."
"Ah, that would make sense." The white mare said looking at her sister. Luna was looking up at the moon she looked away and sighed.
"Luna," Celestia said with a twinge of sadness. "You said ponies dream of what they believe to be familiar, right?"
"Yes."
"You've been gone for a thousand years so of course they would dream of your- the face on the moon." She finished with a smile.
"Indeed, that doth make senses. Now let us find this dream so we know whether me must comfort them or not!" And with that ran blindly into an unknown world. A not but a few seconds later her sister followed.
The sisters ran with each other. Something they could not do in the real world. To many judgmentally ponies that could tell the newspapers, or worse... the nobles! They ran, but soon they noticed something.
"Luna! Can you see that! The moon?"
"Yes sister, we can!"
The moon's light was shining down in a small area in the distance. The sisters looked at each other, nodded, and took flight. They could feel the wind rush past them. With each flap of their wings they went faster. They went faster than they could every even to hope to achieve in the real world.
In the manner of minutes the two alicorns could see what the moon's light was showing off. A dull dark blue mare could be seen surrounded by the robed ponies. The robed ponies were all chanting at the mare in a language that was not understandable to ether of the alicorns. The pony covered her eyes with her wings trying to talk back but couldn't as she choked back sobs.

Celestia looked on in horror as the mare could longer be seen as the robed ponies surrounded her. "Luna, we must help her!" Celestia turned to look at her only to see she was no longer by her side. Luna was already charging at the robed ponies: her horn alight and ready for battle.
Time seemed to slow down as the pegasus whispered, "Please, someone anyone help me... please ." and with those six words all hell broke loose. The sun shot up from the horizon, showering the black nightmare in it's golden embrace. The Black grass caught fire. Trees shot up from the fire like hundreds of hands reaching for the sky. The burning grass was nothing but ash and was swept away along with the fog in a powerful wind. The ash ridden wind shook the leaves on the trees that now dotted the landscape. Green grass grew in place of the once black grass. The mare shot out of the group of robed ponies with a surprisingly amount of speed, taking flight for the now blue skies.
A robed unicorn with a golden trim on his robes yelled out. "G̹̖̭̙͉͊̑̈͢E̵͇͇̦̤̯͍̞͒̄̈́̊̈T̗̦͎͖̱̞̅ͬ̍ͨ̌͗ ͦ̇͝HͦͭĘ̗ͭR̿̓ͤ͋ͦ̓!̯͙̑̔͛ͣ!͚̬ͮͥ!̇ͯ̽͊ͣ̊ " Several pegasi took off after the mare. The mare tried to shake them off by weaving through the newly formed trees. The two alicorns seemed to speed back to their normal flight speed gaining on the robed pegasi with in a few minutes. Luna used her magic and sent a spell towards the nearest robed ponies.
Much to Celestia's surprise and horror the pony that was shot scream in pain then fall to the ground with a sicking crack. "Luna! You killed him!"
"Sister! Thou must remember they aren't real! Tis but an illusion magic, a dream! They are not real!" Luna yelled to her sister over the the sound of rushing wind.
"It just feels too real."
"Tis the illusion dreams sister. Now help us!"
Celestia hesitated for a second, but only for a second and shot a bolt of magic at another robed ponies. One by one the robed ponies fell from the sky. Now all that was left was the mare that was flying for her life. "Slow down we're here to help!" Celestia called out.
The mare if she did hear the Princess she didn't show it. She just kept flying.
"I'm going to stun her!" The white princess told her sister.
"What!" But it was too late as the blue mare was struck by the stunning spell. Her wings shakily tried keeping her aloft., but all she could do was fall. Using her her wings she guided her self. In the distance was a small lake, or a very large pond.
'I can make it... I must make... it! ' She thought as she fought the stunning spell. If she fell she was dead. She glided to the pond and right before hitting it she couldn't help but think. 'It feels like this has happen before. ' Then she couldn't breath. The young mare could feel water rush into her lungs, She tried to swim but her wings and legs refused hurt too much. Her cyan eyes stung as she was pulled under the water. She reached for the sky in some vane attempt it would help .She closed her eyes. She knew it was over. She couldn't fight any more. She gave up.
A cyan object smashed through the water. The mare could feel a pair of hooves around her as she was forced out of the water. The hooves that were around her hurt. Her lungs hurt as she was dropped on the ground. She couldn't breath and the all she was beginning to see was darkness. Tears streamed down her face.
"She an't breathin'!"
"Does anypony here know C.P.R.?"
"Don't look at me!"
"I didn't read that book! I lived in Canterlot there wasn't a need too!"
"What cha doin'?!"
Then just before the world was engulfed in darkness the dark blue pegasus felt hooves press against her chest. Someone tilted her neck up and a pair of hooves began to push down firmly.
"One, two, three, four, five- " She herd a beautiful voice say. With each word the hooves of her chest pushed. "-Fourteen, fifteen, sisxteen,-" With each press the pain in her chest rose. "Twenty eight, Twenty nine, Thirty!" The voice finished, she felt a pair of lips touch hers and her lungs were then forced full of air. With air and water in her lungs she was able to force the water out. She coughed and sputtered as much water out. She could final breath.
"Dear, you know C.P.R.?"
"Of course I do! But that doesn't mater right now we need to get her to the hospital! Now!" The other voices did as the first said. Then she heard a twinkle sound, then she screamed!
The sound stopped and so did the pain. She took a deep breath as her vision began to clear.
"I don't know what I did!"
"Dash! Fly to the barn and git a wheel barrel. It should be to the right when ya walk in. Git your move on!"
The four noises continued to talk. A new voice and a welcomed old one could be heard next to the wet mare.
"Hey, Miss Bluely blue! Don't worry you'll be fine!" The voice was waving between joy, fear, crying and was coming from the pink blob that now took up half of her vision. Two blue orbs surrounded by white looked at her, and right under them was a wavering smile. "Fluttershy here saved your life! You'll" the pink sniffed "be fine!"
"Hey... hey looked at me. I need you to stay awake." said that angelic voice, she painfully looked over at the yellow mass. This was Fluttershy the mare that saved her life. She tried to blink the remaining water out of her eyes so she could see the mare. She could just barely see her soft facial features. Her blue eyes had a sheen to them. "Don't worry you'll be okay, just look at me."
'Wait... the mare thought. I know this face... It's familiar... come to think of it, this is all familiar... I'm dreaming. '
The world around the two sisters speed up as soon as the bolt of stun magic hit the dreamer. Then it went to a grinding halt and in the distance a black void started to eat at the landscape.
"What's happening Luna?"
"It seems the dreamer is waking up." The void was closing on them
"But will happen to us?"
"We shall be forced out of the dream and we will wake up along with the dreamer." The void was only a couple hundred feet away now. "We shall see you on the other side." They were engulfed.
In Canterlot castle the two princesses woke up. They both looked at one another, Celestia began first. "Want to go again?"
"Of course." and with that they both lied back down and with a spell from Luna they we off to the dream world.
Ponville's hospital's staff on the other hand were alerted to a scream coming from their newest patient.
Chapter 3:
Doctor Horse's request hung in the air like thick mildew. The good doctor sat at an old pinewood table. Across him was Ponyville's guard's second in command.
"So let me get this strange, you want me to send a guard to watch over a patient of yours?" Asked the female guard.
"Yes." The Doctor said simply.
"And the reason you want this is because she has... how did you put it? Been torn apart and put back together like Salt Water Taffy?"
"Yes, correct."
"You also believe she was tested on, by mad ponies?"
"Indeed, by mad ponies."
"So... Lets say I do enlist a guard to protect this mare. That would, as I see it cause two problems. I would have to pay a guard overtime and It would just attract more attention to her." The mare said coolly.
"That is why I want them not to where their armor." The Doctor say as if it was obvious.
"You do understand that a guard without armor, makes their job only that much harder for them."
"Then have them be a unicorn guard."
"Magic can't solve everything. You should know that, being a doctor." The pegasus guard deadpanned.
"Yes, I know! and I do not care as long as they are good at what they do! And you should also know what your job is."
"What do you mean?" She asked confused.
"Your job is to protect the innocent. Is it not?" He asked as he got up from his chair.
"Yes, it is." The armored mare shot the doctor an irritated look.
"Yes, it is." He began to walk up to the mare. "And my job is to help keep ponies alive. But I can not do that if my patient is under the threat of being attack, captured, tortured, and/or be killed. So from what you are telling me, you are willing to let an innocent mare die! Just because you do not want to pay a guard overtime." The doctor let a small grin form at his lips as he finished.
The mare quickly stood up and slammed her hooves on the table. "I would never let somepony DIE because of something like GREED!" The mare shouted.
The doctor adjusted his glasses and said. "Then prove it. Let me have a guard."
"Of course! One under cover guard coming up. You'll have them before sundown." The mare smiled.
"Thank you. Also do not let anyone else know about this mare's history. It would only endanger her."
"Don't worry a single hair on your head. It's safe between me, you, and the captain."
"Ah Yes, Sir Swift Blade, where is he? Now that you mention it?"
"He's out at a family reunion, he'll be out for a few weeks."
"Alright then. Have a good day Silver Shield." The doctor said as he walked out of the barracks. With a smirk.
"Good bye." She sat with a smile on her face. "What a second... did I just? I did... didn't I?" She sighed.
Back at Ponyville's hospital, a white mare sat next to a dull dark blue mare. The nurse held a brush in her mouth trying to brush the other mare's mane. Trying being the key word.
"It's as if you've never brushed your hair before in your life!" The white nurse said to her self. Even though the mare's mane was still damp the brush encountered knot after knot. The pink maned mare had tried an array of different mane grooming tools but none seemed to work. "Forget it." The nurse sighed as she put down the brush. The nurse looked at the bedside table a grabbed a small book, "Good time to catch up on my reading." She smiled as she begun to read. 'Once upon a time- '
There was a knock at the door before Doctor Horse walked in, holding a clipboard. "Ah, hello nurse Red Heart how are you?"
Red Heart closed the book she started reading. "I'm doing fine. What do you need?"
"I do not need anything, I was just checking up on the patient, and because you are her new personal nurse, I wanted to show you something."
"And that would be?"
"This," He levitated the clipboard over to the nurse. "It seems our new friend here has no medical records."
"How could that be?" The mare asked looking through the papers. "Unless..."
"Yes, unless my theory is correct."
"We need to go to the guards about this!"
"Do not worry I already did. They are sending a guard to watch over her. As well, I need you to not tell a soul about my theory. She is just another patient. Alright? I will gladly pay you extra to keep it quiet, only two other ponies know of this."
"You don't have to do that. Knowing this mare is safe is payment enough." She said with a soft smile.
"Thank you." Another knock was heard at the door. "It is open."
An aged mare opened the door and adjusted her black cat eye glasses. "Doctor Horse, a strapping young stallion is at the entrance askin' to see you."
"Of course, be right there, come nurse Red Heart." He said walking out the door following resepsiyonist, with nurse in tow.
"Here he is, doll" The resepsiyonist said to the stallion before taking a seat at her desk.
Doctor Horse looked over the dirt brown stallion, he wore a hoodie a few shades darker than his coat. A dirtied red baseball cap sat on above his blue eyes. "Hey, you're Doctor Horse right?"
"Yes that would be me. and if I am not mistaken you are the guard I asked for?"
"Yeah, that's me."
"Good" The doctor smiled.
"Yeah... so uh... you needed me to guard somethin'?"
"No. Not something, someone."
"Oh. Alright..." The guard said.
"She is sleeping right now. So you will not have to talk to her, plus that is what nurse Red Heart is for!" The doctor laughed.
"Alright." He nodded his head.
The doctor's chuckling died down.
"..."
"..."
"..."
Nurse Red Heart spoke up. "So would you like me take you to her?"
He nodded
"Well. I am going to make some coffee!" Stated the doctor before walking off.
"The patient is this way. Follow me." Said the nurse, with guard in tow. "Sooooo, I didn't catch you're name."
"Cuz I didn't give it." He responded.
"Oh..."
"..."
"Would you mind telling me?"
"Nope."
"..."
"..."
"Well?"
"Oh! Yeah, it's Silent Guard."
"Ahh..."
"Ah know, Ah know not a very imaginative name, but my pop was named Quick Guard, and his pop was named Strong Guard, and his pop's name was Idol Guard. The list goes on, Ah guess they just ran out of the good ones."
"Oh, no! I didn't mean it lik-"
"Didn't mean it like that? Don't worry, being a guard you learn what someone truly means from the way their ear twitches."
"Really?"
"Naaa, I could see it in your eyes. That and you're too easy to read." He chuckled at this.
Pinkness tinted her cheeks as she said "Well we're here." She then began to walk into the room.
He nodded, and proceeded to stand just outside the door.
"Do feel free to come in."
"It's okay."
She just sighed, walking into the room she came out with two rolling stools. "At least sit down." He smiled, took the small stools and with that they both sat down sat down. Red Heart had taken the book she had earlier, and opened it, 'Once upon a time- '
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
Eye wide Red Heart and Silent Guard ran into the patient's room. The blue mare fragrantly kicked trying to get off her blanket. Her hooves swatted at the cords and needles in her. Red Heart ran over to the flailing mare. "Calm down, you're safe. You're safe!" Red Heart said in a soothing tone.
The other mare just responded with strange noises "Ahr amm ah!". At the sound of her own voice she began to freak out more. She flung her limbs wildly as she tried to get away from the nurse. Nurse Red Heart was at a loss as the patient hit the ground and tried to crawl away. Tried being the main word, more like flail her legs and wings hopelessly around as tears streamed down her face. Silent Guard quickly sat next to the mare and wrapped his forelegs around her. Most of the cords were removed from the mare but those that weren't he removed.
In a hushed tone he began to calm the mare down. "Don't worry now, ah got cha. Ah got cha, don't worry."
To Red Heart's surprise she actual began to calm down. Her sobs were muffled as her head was burred in the guard's shoulder. He softly petted the back of her head. The white mare quickly yet quietly said "I'm going to get Doctor Horse." before running off.
Doctor Horse trotted away from the nurse and the new guard. He entered the kitchenette, and started up the empty coffee maker. Looking to the fridge he opened it, "Might as well." He said as he pulled out a jar of jam from the fridge, then a jar of peanut butter from one of the cabinets. He took out two slices of bread out of the bag on the counter. Taking a knife from a drawer he put peanut butter on one slice then jam on the other. He put the two slices of bread together, then cut down the middle making them into two triangles. Finally he put away the jam, peanut butter, and put the sandwiches on a plate, then finished making his cup of coffee.
Taking a sip from his cup he let out a sigh. With his plate and coffee in he grip he started his way to the patient, then he heard a scream. He started to run down the hall be for running into Nurse Red Heart.
"What happened?" He asked frantically.
"Our patient woke up, come on!" She said with a jerk of her head they galloped down the hall, and into the patient's room. They saw her wiping her eyes with a hoof as Silent had a hoof on her shoulder.
"Ya better?" He asked
With much shakiness, she nodded.
"Good"
"Yes good indeed." The doctor said. "You had me worried there." He gave a soft chuckle.
The dark mare lowered her head.
"Do not feel down." He said with a smile as he sat next to the mare on the ground. "You didn't mean to. Anyhoo, you look famished here have this." He said holding out a sandwich in his magic grip.
At seeing this display the mare tried to scoot away with a terrified look.
The doctor set the cup and plate on the ground and cut off his magic. "Do not fret, I will not hurt you." He stated pushing the sandwich over to her.
The mare looked from his horn then down to the plate before leaning her head down and beginning to scarf down the sandwich. Not unlike how a dog would after not eating for a day or two.
Once again the good doctor chuckled and said "You might want to wash that down." And pushed over his mug.
She picked up the mug like a foal would hold a stuffed toy and gulped down the brown liquid before putting it down. The face she made though, got the doctor to laugh. Her eyes were shut and her tongue hung out, as she let out a disgusted groan.
"I take it you didn't like it."
She shook her head.
"Red Heart could you please do me a favor and get me a glass of water."
"Of course." She said walking off.
The blue mare was already starting to eat the other half of her sandwich.
"Yer really hungry, now ain't cha?"
"Yaaah" She grabbed her throat, and with wide eyes she began to hyperventilate.
Doctor Horse quickly grabbed a hold of her. "Calm down, calm down. Do not worry, you just woke up. You will be able to speak soon. Just not right now, you are still hurt. I am surprised you are awake at all, let alone moving."
She slowly nodded.
"Here's the water you asked for." Nurse Red Heart said as she walked in.
"Thank you. Now could you help me get her back into bed." He asked Silent guard. "You really must get your sleep." He said to the patient.
Silent Guard quickly and efficiently picked up the blue mare and set her in the bed. Red Heart set the glass of water nest to her bed.
"Now then, if you need anything Mr..."
"Silent Guard."
"Mr. Silent Guard will be right here. Okay?"
She nodded.
"Okay, good night." He smiled, then walked out with Red Heart, and as promised Silent Guard stayed in the room. The mare closed her eyes and slowly drifted of to sleep once more.
