//-------------------------------------------------------// To Wish Upon A Fallen Star -by Epoc_Parody- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue The afternoon was fairly typical of late autumn here in Ponyville; Light, wispy clouds speckled the sky as pegasi flitted about in the skies above, while unicorns and earth ponies likewise commited to the ground. To any uninformed passerby, the atmosphere would seem peaceful, as ponies hurried to get their errands finished for the day, before retreating to their homes for the warmth of the hearth, and companionship with friends and family. Normally, this would also be the case for a certain lavender librarian and alicorn princess as well. Normally... Today was not a normal day, however; Rather than retreating to the warmth of a fire, Twilight Sparkle sat alone in the dark room that was her study,  as she would not take any comfort from her friends this day. No, instead, she had a duty to a certain somepony to uphold in loving memory, as she sat there before a sheet of parchment, with a quill floating in her telekinetic grasp, and an ink pot sitting up near the corner of her desk, as she prepared to write the account of one who she and her friends owed so much. For you see, she intended to make it available at tomorrow's funeral. It wasn't an easy task either, given her sunken eyes, and the tear stains, caused by the resurfacing of the memories which accompanied her new scar which ran along the left side of her muzzle, and up to her ear, ending in a nick.  Nay, this was not a normal day, nor had there been one for quite some time. In fact, one could observe a similar state in each of the mane six, as many had taken to calling the group of friends for the past two years. The energetic Pinkie Pie hadn't left Sugar Cube Corner for two days, and before that, she'd been seen only briefly, having dawned the look of her alter-ego, Pinkamena Pie. The pristine, prim, and proper Rarity had been reduced to a crass and irritable mare. Though her own fashion sense was yet intact, the same could not be said of her workmareship, which quickly resulted in her closing down the Boutique until further notice. Rainbow Dash had not practiced any stunts in a week, though the hospital had cleared her after the battle rather quickly. Applejack seemed to be as stoic as always, but her family knew better, having stayed up many a fortnight with her to help with the night terrors and the uncontrollable bouts of sobbing. And then, there was Fluttershy. Poor Fluttershy hadn't been seen in a week, and her cottage was warded by a large murder of crows preventing anypony from drawing so much as a hundred furlongs of the property line. However, none had been hit quite so hard, and look quite so hopeless as Twilight Sparkle, as she herself had borne witness to the final moments of her one and only adopted son, Firelight Clarity. She sat there now, recalling many of her memories, causing the tears to once again well up, before she began to write. With a heavy heart, she recorded a brief summary, including the first day, his cutiemark story, and so much more. By the end of the night, she intended to have a full recording of her own memories which could be reviewed by others, as they deserved to know of the one who'd saved their world. This would prove both long and painful as she recalled each memory as if reliving it in pony.
