The cold wind howled across the frozen wastes of Northrend as the armies of The Alliance and The Horde prepared for the final assault on Angrathar; The Wrath Gate. Tensions ran high as both sides still showed little trust for one another. The combined might of both armies began pushing through the numerous undead guarding the steps to the gate; led by two of their greatest champions.

"HIGH LORD BOLVAR!!"

"Thank The Light!"

"For Lordaeron!!"

"FOR THE ALLIANCE!!"

Bolvar Fordragon; The lord who had lead the people of Stormwind City before his kings return, lead the charge against the undead along with his fellow knights. In one massive assault, they broke through the first line of the undead defenses.

"WRROOOAAARRRGGHH!!!! Back you mindless wretches!!!"

Bolvar charged right into the enemy ranks, slashing his foes to pieces as his forces managed to secure the first platform. This made way for the remaining troops to push through, when suddenly the doors of the gate had opened, followed by a battle cry spoken in a forgotten language. The Vrykul had come.

"FIGHT ON BROTHERS!!!

The giants had begun pushing back the alliance forces as Bolvar tried to hold his ground. Meanwhile, atop a nearby hill, an unexpected ally was preparing to join the fight.

"RISE UP SONS OF THE HORDE!! Blood and Glory await us!!"

Dranosh Saurfang of the Horde. He rallied his forces to join in the assault. They mounted their wolves and rode hard into battle with the sounds of war horns blowing.

"LOK'TAR OGAR!! FOR THE HORDE!!!"

"FOR THE HORDE!!!"

The wolf riders broke through the enemy forces as members of the alliance cavalry joined in the charge. Within a few moments the battle field had been cleared of the undead. Atop the hill which held the alliance base, a young stallion had been observing the battle closely. He stood, disappointed that he was cut out of the fight. He listened as Bolvar called out for the king of the undead; The Lich King.

"You speak of Justice? of Cowardice? I will show you the justice of the grave and the true meaning...OF FEAR!!"

"ENOUGH TALK!! Let it be finished!!"

Dranosh charged the Lich King with little restraint, ready to strike down the undead king only to be vanquished by his evil blade; Frostmourne. The stallion who had been watching grew as furious as Bolvar who began to threaten the undead tyrant.

"You will pay for all the lives you've stolen! Traitor!"

"Boldly stated. But there is nothing you can-!!"

An explosion of toxic gas appeared from out of nowhere. From a nearby ledge another group of undead had come lead by a hooded figure.

"Did you think we had forgotten? Did you think we had forgiven? Behold now the terrible vengeance of The Forsaken!"

"Sylvanas!"

"DEATH TO THE SCOURGE!! AND DEATH TO THE LIVING!!"

Soon bombs of toxic gas began raining down upon the allied forces. Bolvar gave the order to fall back while both camps began to evacuate, hoping to escape the fumes.

"VALIANT!!! VALIANT!!"

A guard who had been at the camp began calling out to his stallion as the bombardment continued. Just as he reached him, however, a stray bomb struck a nearby laboratory. This created a mixture of magical energies as a blinding explosion consumed the area around it. While the stallion cried out to his master, he was consumed by the blast.

It seemed that this was the end for both the knight and his steed when out of nowhere the stallion found himself in a swirling vortex surrounded by a strange light but his vision had remained blurry from the blast. The last thing he heard was his masters voice as the light began to enter his body.

"Goodbye old friend..." That was the last thing the knight had said before using the last of his magic as the light that enveloped him began to grow brighter as he felt the wind beneath him increasing in speed. Almost as if he was falling.

________________________________________

It was high noon in Equestria. Princess Celestia was with her sister, Princess Luna, along with her student and newly crowned princess, Twilight Sparkle. They enjoyed some tea while her friends were playing croquet in the garden, laughing as they did so.

"So Twilight, how have you been doing as Equestrias newest princess?"

Celestia asked as she set her cup down for a refill.

"Oh I’ve been doing just fine, though, it'll take a while for me to get used to my title."

Twilight said sheepishly still feeling a little embarrassed over her new title. Even more so now than she was before, Seeing as she's been getting various suitors from all across Equestria trying to woo her.  All of them she declined because she already had her heart set on somepony, even though she kept denying it.

"I just got word from Princess Cadence. It seems Flash Sentry will be your personal bodyguard and guest at the castle."

The news from Princess Luna caught Twilight by surprise. So much so that she spat out her tea onto the floor, making everyone stare at her with a look of shock on their faces.

"FLASH SENTRY IS COMING TO MY CASTLE?!?"

A small hint of joy could be detected in her voice, even though she sounded terrified at the thought of her and Flash constantly together. What annoyed her more though was that her brother and sister in law, Princess Cadence, were in on it.

The whole group laughed as Twilight mumbled to herself with cheeks completely pink. But then the skies suddenly grew dark and strange noises began to fill the air, noises that Celestia and Luna knew all too well.

"Sister?"

"I know Luna....that is the sound of battle."

Celestia’s voice became ominous. Green flashes filled the sky as it thundered furiously.

"Is it those changelings again?!?"

Rainbow Dash asked in an annoyed manner, remembering the trouble they had caused at the wedding in Canterlot.

"No. Otherwise they'd be raining down from the sky right now."

Twilight stated as they continued to watch the event. That was until a bright flash blinded everypony for a few moments. Soon after, unicorn fell from the sky, screaming.

"WHOOAAAAA!!!!!"

BOOM!!

The force of the impact shook everything in the garden and a huge dust cloud bursted from the ground.

"What in tarnation was that!?"

Applejack screamed after a few coughs, while Fluttershy helped Rainbow Dash clear away the dust.

"AH!! My favorite afternoon gown! RUINED!"

Rarity cried out in dramatic fashion as Twilight and the princesses arrived on the scene.

"Is everypony alright?"

Twilight asked, feeling worried. They all nodded, making her sigh with relief. Afterwards she went to check on the crater and what she found shocked her.

"What is it!? An alien? A monster? AN ALIEN MONSTER!?"

Pinkie kept asking as she cringed behind Rainbow. Twilight began to use her magic on the object that fell.

"It's not a 'what' Pinkie. It's a 'who'."

Everypony gasped in shock as Twilight lifted a unicorn out of the crater. His coat was black and he had a blonde mane. He was also slightly taller than the others. Just as Twilight set him down he began to stir, groaning from the force of the impact. He bursted into life just as Fluttershy was about to ask “Are you alright?”, muttering two words.

"Ambush...Angrathar...."

The strange unicorn passed out seconds after that leaving the rest worried and confused.

"Twilight. I must ask that your friends return to Ponyville while you help us."

Princess Celestia’s voice had grown serious along with the look in her eyes. Twilight did as Celestia instructed. Later that evening, the Castle physicians had begun treating the castles newest guest. He had suffered severe burns to his chest, and he broke one of his back legs. He had even suffered a concussion after he hit the ground. As they worked into the night, Twilight couldn't help but wonder about the last two things the pony said before he passed out.

"Hmm...Angrathar."

She said to herself looking at the ceiling, but answers would have to wait until the stranger had made a full recovery. As the sun rose the next morning, the unicorn who appeared the other day began to rouse from his sleep, feeling groggy, but his vision began to clear.

"Uggh...my head-! I can talk!?"

"Well of course you can."

Celestia and Twilight walked in with friendly smiles but he flopped back onto the bed, overpowered by his headache.

"How do you feel?"

"Like I got hit by a steam tank...why do I have a horn?"

He said in surprise after rubbing a hoof on his bandaged head, leaving Twilight and the princess more curious than ever. Seeing as he did not realize he was a unicorn when he appeared out of nowhere.

"Just as you requested your highness."

A maid came in with a platter, she lifted the top to reveal a sandwich. Celestia took it with her magic before dismissing her. She then offered the sandwich up to the unicorn in bed. He took it and scarfed it down within seconds. Celestia and Twilight both chuckling as he did this.

"My you must've been hungry. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Princess Celestia and this is Twilight Sparkle; my pupil."

"Please to meet you. URP! Oh pardon."

Twilight couldn't help but giggle herself when he gave an embarrassed grin. She asked for his name right after.

"And do you mind telling us who you are?"

"My name is Valiant; Valiant Charge. Member of the seventh cavalry of the Stormwind Alliance."

Once more both Twilight and the princess were confused by his statement. Valiant, relatively oblivious to this, looked around admiring the castle before surprising them once more.

"I'm not in Azeroth...am I?"

"No Valiant. You are not."

Princess Celestia helped her house guest to walk towards the balcony outside his room. Once out, his eyes were met with a most beautiful sight. Valiant saw a vast green land with a blue sky that seemed to stretch on forever. And the grass, it was as green as emeralds. Below them—in a small valley—a little town lied far away. Mountains surrounding much of the area, along with a dark green forest that seemed to have an ominous feel to it.

"Where am I?"

"Welcome to Equestria."

Celestia escorted him through the halls, telling him of her kingdom and its history; from the founding of Equestria to the princess being forced to banish her own sister for a thousand years. That was very surprising to him since he heard a story of a brother being forced to imprison his younger sibling for TEN THOUSAND years! He was then shown a hall with stain glass windows showing the most historic events in Equestria. Among them, were Twilight and her friends wielding the Elements of harmony.

"Your kingdom is lucky..." He said with a bit of contempt in his voice, as he looked down to the ground deep in thought.

"Valiant?"

"You still have your heroes despite the various threats you face...but whenever our kingdom was faced with a new danger, we lost so many of ours…"

Celestia could see the sadness in his eyes. He was making his way towards the exit when suddenly he heard a sound very familiar to him; The sound of a smiths hammer pounding steel. Following the sound, Valiant made his way towards the royal blacksmith where the forge master was hard at work making arms and armor for new recruits. In that moment he broke into a joyous smile.

"I see you have an eye for craftsmanship." Celestia said, feeling relieved as the forge master spotted Celestia, The blacksmith waved a hoof as the two entered the royal forge.

"Valiant I'd like you to meet Hard Hammer. One of the greatest blacksmiths in all Equestria."

"You honor me your highness."

The smith said in a Scottish accent. He was a large earth pony with a bushy beard and mustache. Covered from head to hoof in soot, with only a brown leather apron covering his front. He laid the hot piece of iron he was working on aside to chat with the princess. Valiant looked around the shop seeing the amazing pieces he had made. Armor that looked like it could stop the sharpest sword, weapons that shined as bright as the moons light.

"Like what ya see lad?"

The smith asked, raising an eyebrow to the young unicorn.

"This is...Amazing! I haven't seen this kind of craftsmanship since I visited Iron Forge!!"

"Iron Forge? Is that a friend of yours?"

"Oh no, it's a city. A city built under a mountain."

Hard Hammer jerked his head back looking a bit astounded. Never before had anypony heard of a city being named after a place of work, nor had anypony heard of one being built under a mountain. As Valiant continued to look around, he spotted a small crate filled with what looked like silver ore, but as he approached it, Hard Hammer looked away in distain, scoffing at the ore.

"Don't bother with that lad. Those rocks are as light as a feather! Completely useless!"

Unknown to Hard Hammer. Valiant had seen this metal many times before, and for the forge master to have so much was amazing. Just as the smith was about to resume his work Valiant took one of the pieces, asking to use one of the other forges. Out of curiosity, the smith let him. To his surprise, Valiant didn't see a single hammer in sight.

"Use your hoof lad! That’s the only way to get it done!"

The smith shouted from across the room. continuing his work. At first the unicorn was hesitant, but after the first strike he felt nothing, no burn, save for the slight sting he felt on his chest.

"USE AN APRON BOY!!"

The smith shouted in aggressive concern before dipping the now newly forged armor into a large tub of water. Steam shot out before he placed it on a rack to dry. He observed the young colt as he hammered away, it seemed like he had done this before but his strikes were completely off.

"No no no. All wrong! Ya can't just hammer away all willy nilly lad. Ya need to give yer strikes rhythm!"

Hard Hammer continued where Valiant had left off showing the unicorn how it was done.

CLANG CLANG! ding! CLANG CLANG! ding!

"Like that! Now you try."

Valiant had followed the old earth pony's example and repeated the rhythm over and over again. Reheating the metal and giving it shape. Everypony was amazed at how fast he learned, almost like he had done this his whole life, even Valiant was surprised at the level of his skill. Finally the blade had taken full form.

"Not bad lad. You might actually make a good smith some day."

"Uh… thanks?"

"Now! Let's give this a test run."

After fashioning the hilt, Hard Hammer set up a practice dummy with some of his strongest armor in the courtyard. Valiant stood a few feet away with the newly forged sword in his mouth ready to charge as he got into a running stance.

"Alright lad! Give it a swing!!"

Valiant bolted towards his target at full speed with the smith and the princess watching closely and with one swing the sword cut through the armor like a hot knife through butter shocking them both.

"By Luna's light..."

Hard Hammer said in astonishment as Valiant trotted over, placing the blade in the ground.

"Mithril Silver and it's, as you said Hard Hammer, light as a feather but as hard as dragon scales!"

After his demonstration, Valiant handed the sword back to the smith bowing in respect. After finally finishing their tour, Valiant was given a guest room in the castle just a few doors away from Celestia’s private quarters. The room gave him a good view of the city as well as the small town he saw earlier. As the sun began to set, Valiant made his way towards the balcony. Celestia said her goodnight’s, leaving her new guest to earn a good night’s rest.

The End.
