Seeing Grey

Previous Chapter

Sgt. Grey, a colour blind retired guard of the 22nd elite Pegasus corp. He retired five years ago due to unknown reasons. His wife died two years after from internal bleeding. He was accused of abusing his wife, but the claims fell apart due to lack of evidence. His body was found in a storm drain by a sanitation worker who was inspecting the area from a complaint about “odd odors” personally I think that a body stuffed in the sewer would create the stench, but the complaints continued after we had the body removed. This city stinks. No country will claim it, without going to war that is. The four countries all hate each other, and having a city-state in between all of them brings up a lot of conflict. The worst part of all of this junk is that the wings of the Pegasus where lost. We found them two days after his body in a dump site. This is most likely a homicide, but like my wife I cant quite tell yet.

I sat on my couch reading 50 Ways to Cure Your Negative Thoughts. Things have been hard since Grey Frost died. I was going to try number 39, I had done all up to number 38 in the book. Number 39 stated “Find a hobbie and stick with it! You can not be sad if you are working hard on something that you like!” I find this unreasonable. I have been working hard to forget everything, and this book is not helping one bit. It is an interesting idea though. I will have to go to the hobbie shop tomorrow.

I guess I could do some star gazing if it was not so cloudy out. Not that I can tell what stars are what. It all seems a little gray to me. I have been told that my eyes are blue, but I have stopped seeing colours 17 years ago. I was just a recruit then, and ended up on the wrong end of a rapists hammer. We never did catch him, but that is besides the point.

A light knock on my door took me out of my brooding mood. Sighing, I got up and opened the door. A stallion with a wrench cutie mare stood before me. “Sir, there have been complaints about plumbing in this building. Mind if I come in to check your sink?” Odd, I have never heard of plumbing issues form the neighbors. If hotel management wants my sink checked, then who am I to stop them. “Your Dull Grey, right?” He spoke to me as he started working on the sink. I guess I can ask him if he knows of any good hobbies. What could go wrong?

“Yes, I'm a retired guard.” how should I go about asking him? “Do you know of any hobbies?”

He got out from under the sink and pulled a hack saw out from his toolbox. “Yah, I know a few ideas for a hobbie. Its called tying loose ends. Its a little one sided, but I'm sure that you will let me have my fun.”
