The Stone family had been rock farmers for generations. It wasn't pretty work, but it was honest, and they made a living. As Ponyville grows around the princess, however, things change. With the town and all its new ponies, the farm is being crowded out. The family sells the farm and splits up, Old Mossy moving to Appleloosa, Granite to Stalliongrad, and Roller to Hoofington. But Alabaster and her husband Archer have kids, and they don't quite want to leave Ponyville behind, because friends are there. Being country folk, though, they can't quite stand to live without a bit of quiet. So they move to the only place near Ponyville with any quiet left: Everfree Forest.
