Duel Monsters - Legend of the Dragon Pony: Unique VERSUS The Seed of Darkness!

The year is 500 A.H (After Harmony)

The kingdom of Equestria has changed dramatically since the Day of the Cards.

One day, the subjects of the kingdom of Equestria were robbed of their peace when the heavens began to tear themselves apart, and the screeching of lightning and the explosions of hot thunder pierced the sky as a great hole opened up above the land.

From this hole spilled forth magical cards and mysterious weapons that could channel the powers of these cards. In time, these cards became known as 'duel monsters', the weapons as 'duel disks'.

The cards and the weapons scattered throughout the kingdom, and their powers were discovered through accidental use, spawning great beasts and terrible monsters of extraordinary strength and forms. Some chose to use this power for justice, and others elected to abuse it to carry out their evil intentions.

Soon, the War of the Cards began. Not even the rulers of Equestria themselves could fight against such powers, and the raisers of the Sun and the Moon fell during the conflict. The Elements of Harmony were sought out in a desperate bid to quell the fighting, but they were destroyed by the conflict.

The chaos and bloodshed raged for many days, until the fierce powers could not be controlled much longer. The wars spun wild out of control, and ushered forth a terrible darkness upon the land, and so Equestria became a 'shadow realm', a place where hope and faith was little, and all living things lived in fear and despair.

Society fell apart, and ponies slowly fell victim to the cancer of the shadow realm's afflicting curse. Now, Equestria is on the brink of extinction through total annihilation of their former selves, leaving behind hideous beings that will spread the curse of the shadow realm to the world beyond Equestria's borders

The land lives by one law, one rule. A single solution to all debates and arguments; a battle through the Cards.

These battles, which appropriately became know better as Duels.
