His And Her Last Letter
Father... Mother...
Load Full StoryOn a cool spring morning, the sun rose to greet the world. The clouds came, to attend the sun's celestial ball. Today, was a day like any other, happy, but unfortunately, also sad. The mare sighed deeply in a depressed tone, as she scrambled in her bed. It has been ten years since her father's and mother's death. The poor Pegasus family. Oh, the woe this family had gone through... There were such a happy family. Even though they had no riches, the family's riches, was life, forever.
She remembered everything, like it was a scar. Her father, assumed dead, was missing. The pegasi's mother was saddened, but the mare hid her feelings inside, and kept a straight face. She was detached from emotions. In other words, the mare thought that if you showed any sadness, or anything being emotion-wise, would show weakness. The young mare knew, but she couldn't stop herself from not smiling, nor crying. Inside, she cried. The mare truly did, only inside.
But, weeks after... Her mother died of a robbery. The unicorn that had come in with the knife, tried to brutally kill and rob the two. What a sad world. Every time darkness showed, it affected everyone, engulfing them into the sad, depressing, and negative world. It did not matter who you were, what you are, or in any sort, it did not matter about you.
"D-don't cry, child... I always love you." the dying mother cried.
"Mom... Please... Don't go..." the filly sobbed uncontrollably.
"Look at me," she said with tears, grabbing her daughter's young face.
"I want you to know, that things may not always seem. But... When it may look like that, I want you to find a way to be happy, and not run away. I lived my whole life caring for you, and I never regretted it. I loved you with all of my heart, and I... always will..."
The filly listened, sobbing.
"I want you to never run away, from the obstacles you face in life. D-dear... Live your life freely, and be happy..."
"I love you, mom."
"I love you too. You made me a proud mom..."
Holding her mom, she cried for her. Snarling with anger, but also immense grief, she sobbed and cried. Why did she have to die? She never deserved it... The heart-broken, reminiscing mare started to cry, still remembering her mom's words. And the thing that was even more depressing, was that no one cared for her. No friends, or family. The police came after, and took the filly in.
But, now was the time to move on from the shackles of depression. To break free, like mom said.
After getting ready for the day...
The mare went down stairs to the kitchen to grab some crystal blueberry oatmeal. Her mother, and her father used to cook it everyday. It was her favorite meal, for breakfast.
Something had just crashed her parent's bedroom. The mare cleaned their room flawlessly, making sure that nothing would never, ever fall down. She quickly rushed upstairs to her parent's room, only to find that a trapdoor was open in the floor next to their bed. A box was inside the small hole that the trapdoor revealed. It said on a strip of nice and white paper, 'To Hope, our daughter.'
Quickly, the mare grabbed the box, and opened it. There was a letter inside, along with a check of twenty-thousand bits. There was no way her parents saved that much. Aside being confused, she opened the letter, and read:
"To our daughter, Hope
I know, I'm sorry for leaving you. Your mother is too, even though we wrote this as our will, just in case one of us died. We'd come a long way, Hope. I'm proud to call you my daughter. Your mom, she's proud too. I wasn't missing, Hope. I was killed by a black-hat hacker. One of the ponies that you call 'friends'. I saw everything, and I knew that I had to protect my family. You've been getting threats from him, through email, hm...? I was upset, but I understood after. Your mother also saw.
We weren't mad at all. Why? Because, it was never your fault. Ponies like him, well, they're everywhere. Best to stay away from them. But, father has gone after him. I was going to tell him to back off, and to leave our family alone. But, I know, after I would die, that he'd come after you and your mother. I want you to carry this letter on, through our family. I know you will find someone, who is pure, and kind-hearted. You'll have children, too.
I want you to know, Hope, That the both of us want you to know that we love you so much with all our hearts. We want you to have strength. Strength, meaning as the will to move on, even though things are not what it seems. That's what strength is. Never run away from what truly is right. Keep hoping, and never give up. Don't let anyone break you. You'll end up losing your way. Reality can be like that, I know, because, its darkness swallows everyone into the world of negativity. People may say that you need to accept that things in the world are not good. Well, here's a secret, Hope, we never believed them. We never accepted that fact either. But, you know what your mom and dad said?
We said, 'So? It may not seem like that, but we (Your mom and I both said I, hahahaha...) can try to make the world a better place. We'll never accept the fact that nothing is good in the world. Because, that's not really logical, and no one knows that it's true. Not really a fact, either." We never lost our way, and we never ran away. And, honestly, I felt selfish. Because, I wanted you to be happy forever, and not be mad or sad. I felt like I didn't let you have your independence. But, the whole reason why I was, was because I wanted to protect you. I also didn't want you to lose your way, and become broken.
But, I know, our proud daughter will carry our wish for the family.
We want you to make the world a better place, and remain positive, happy, and kind. One day, all of that negativity will be vanquished forever, only if you keep hoping and moving on. We loved you so much, and we hope that you'll live a life you will remember. Be the light, that never dies. Please, when you die, write a letter like this to your children, friends, and family. And carry out this wish to the family tree, so we can be a big family that makes the world... A better place.
We love you so much,
Your father, and mother."
Hope smiled brightly with tears in her eyes. Not tears of sadness. Tears of pure joy, and happiness.
