Saruman in Equestria

In Middle Earth, there was once a mighty conflict between the forces of good and evil: the War of the Ring. Sauron the Great had established his realm in Mordor once again, rebuilt his tower, and set his watch upon the peoples of Middle Earth in a relentless onslaught designed to rediscover his lost prized artifact– the One Ring to rule them all. Saruman the wizard, chief of the opposing force against Sauron, betrayed his own White Council and joined the Dark Lord, communicating with him using the Palantir of Orthanc. He forsook his title "the White" for two new ones, "of Many Colors" and "Ring-Maker." For he had great knowledge of the workings of Sauron, and had crafted his own lesser ring of power to advance his position and bring about his ultimate goal: to find the One Ring and take it for himself.

Even as Saruman prepared his armies for the final attack against the Horse-lords, one of his experiments under Orthanc broke loose, and Isengard descended into chaos as Saruman's forces were devoured by the demonic entity. Seeking refuge, and unable to reenter the impenetrable tower Orthanc, he fled the gates and found respite in a cave some ways up the Methadras. A strange sensation came upon him, and when he left the cave, he found himself in a completely different world.
