Dear Princessby Scribbley WibbleyChaptersChapter 1Chapter 2Chapter 3Chapter 4Chapter 1Dear Princess… Chapter 1 “The Nightmare has come and gone, The cold winter has all been wrapped up, All the autumn leaves have all fallen from the trees, The Grand Galloping Gala has already passed, Peace and harmony have flourished in Equestria.” “It has been many moons since last this one has laid eyes upon this village has is not?” one Unicorn questioned himself as he trotted around a small town admiring the structures around him “it seems thy land has changed since last this one saw, but that was more than a thousand years ago.” His black coat, mane, and tail almost completely shrouded him in the shadowy moonlight, but the prominent red stripe down the center of his mane and tail were very unmistakable; the stallion’s name was Erebus. He continued his walk through the darkly lit town the lights in all the houses had been turned off and it had seemed that everypony was asleep… well, it seemed like it. Out of the darkness a voice was heard, “I’ve never seen you before, who are you?” the voice made Erebus jump and then he then ran off behind a house that was off the path he was walking. Erebus had concealed himself using his magic to escape the scary candy scented noise. After catching his breath he wondered off to find a hiding spot to fall asleep. Erebus wasn’t exactly known for being sociable but, what he was known for is the story that’s about to unfold. It was now morning the sun was high and the birds were chirping, Erebus had continued wondering around the town now with the townsfolk trotting about, but he used his magic to render himself intangible. He soon felt hungry and remembered he hadn’t eaten last night because he got scared off. He wondered around till he found and apple stand an interesting mare had been working at this stall she was an orange pony with a long yellow mane and tail which was tied off at the end. Her cutie mark seemed to be appropriate three red apples. Erebus approached the stall still unable to be seen he then took an apple from a barrel. It’s not every day you see an apple start to float by itself and then get eaten, “hey” the orange pony called out to the now core of an apple but like before the yell had made Erebus tense as the core fell and he bolted off to hide again. Ponies gathered around the core and poked it with a stick to make sure is wasn’t going to fly off again; “it’s cursed”, “haunted”, “bewitched” words fluttered back and forth between ponies, but in the end no one had known Erebus had been behind it. Erebus had now found himself over by a large tree that upon closer inspection was a library. He found a sign on the front lawn that read Twilight’s library having a fancy for books he welcomed himself in. it seemed empty, the librarian must have stepped out for a moment just what Erebus liked, solitude he began searching the shelves and picked out several books to read and then took his leave with the books in tow. After finding a nice shady spot to sit he began reading while completely invisible to everypony around him. It had gotten dark out and Erebus had completely lost track of time meanwhile other ponies have found traces of his doings, it has seemed that the librarian was not too pleased that her books were borrowed and word spread of a thieving ghost, a search party was then formed and had begun to search for this so called ghost. It had seemed one of them was a competent Unicorn for she had tracked him with a magic tracking spell. Erebus was hard to pull away from a book so he didn’t notice when three ponies had snuck up behind him. “The magic I’m picking up from over by that tree definitely matches that of the residual energy from the apple core” the Unicorn had said “Beg your pardon” her earth pony friend had asked “Ughh the culprit is over by the tree” the Unicorn replied “Where I don’t see him” a third Pegasus looked around as she spoke, then together the three ponies slowly made their way to Erebus… it was in vein though for Erebus himself could also trace magic and picked up upon his assailants. He then proceeded to disperse his magic all over the town so it would seem to those trying to track him that he was everywhere at the same time. “What was that, what just happened” the Unicorn was startled “What’s the matter Twi?” the earth pony asked “He… he’s everywhere now” “So it really is a ghost” the rainbow Pegasus joined “No… its Unicorn magic, but I’ve never seen this spell used to such a magnitude though” if the Unicorn was puzzled before now she has reached complete confusion “Come out whoever you are, I am Twilight Sparkle student of Celestia and I wish to talk to you.” Celestia, now there was a name Erebus hasn’t heard in a while and this mare claimed to be her student, Erebus need time to think so for now he made his escape into the night masking not only his appearance but now his magical energy. Day had now broke out and Erebus had at one time contemplated leaving Ponyville, but now since he has found the student of Celestia his curiosity is getting the better of him. He returned to the library to return the books he had borrowed and to hopefully acquire some new ones, to his surprise he found that the librarian was none other than Celestia’s student Ms. Sparkle. As he slowly entered he saw her still asleep as Erebus returns the books he wonders if she had stayed up all night pondering about his whereabouts. Upon closer inspection of the books around the library he noticed that there were higher level magic books “so it seems that she is skilled as well” he muttered to himself then it got eerily quiet… “Now!” a loud shout then boom the next thing Erebus can remember is he got tied up and a ring had been placed around his horn. He soon realized his magic had been nullified and was confronted by the ponies from the night before plus a few extra. “Who are you” a rainbow Pegasus shouted “Why did ya take my apple” an orange earth pony glared as she asked “That’s a funny face you’re making” a pink earth pony interrupted “Where did you learn such powerful magic” Twilight the librarian spoke but with the bombardment of questions and the shock of being captured Erebus had passed out. Upon awakening he found he was still tied up and unable to use magic. “Girls he’s awake come here, come here!” the pink one had shouted “Now don’t startle the dear again” a white Unicorn said “I’m sorry” Twilight had stepped forward “I didn’t mean to startle you I was just intrigued by who you are, could you tell me your name?” she had asked, but Erebus was still in a state of shock and was a bit socially awkward so he shied away from her “Ok plan b” Twilight had said. “Fluttershy you’re up” she continued and a yellow Pegasus approached “Um hi” she squeaked out then it got silent and it seemed that they both were too shy to talk but then “Hi” Erebus had spoke softly. “M… my names Fluttershy” she whispered “E… e…Erebus” he said softer then her “Nice to meet you” she responded and then they both had begun to open up to each other “Tis gracious to be in your presence as well my lady” he responded and soon all the other ponies had been assaulting Fluttershy with questions for Erebus but she said “Shhhhh, please you’ll startle him again” and turned back to Erebus “Oh please Let me introduce my friends; that’s twilight,” she pointed to the magenta Unicorn librarian “that’s Applejack,” she said pointing to the orange earth pony “this is rainbow dash,” she was the rainbow maned Pegasus “that’s rarity,” a white Unicorn “and lastly that’s pinkie pie” she was a pink earth pony. “May I ask you some questions Mr. Erebus?” she asked to which he just nodded his head “Ask him why he ate my apples?” Applejack asked “This one is terribly sorry madam but he was hungry and even left a bit of coin on your stall” “Oh well in that case alright” she responded “Now that that is clear, I want to ask you where you learned such powerful magic.” Twilight asked “Well” he started “at one time this one had been the princess’ student and personal assistant. Every one gasped had he been Celestia's student before Twilight. “But… but Celestia never said anything about having another student before me.” “That’s because this one was not the student of Celestia but of the princess of the night Luna.” Chapter 2Dear Princess… Chapter 2 “Wait a minute you mean to tell me that your teacher was Luna, the Princess Luna” Twilight had said looking for a logical solution to what she had just heard, but before she could continue a baby purple dragon entered the room with a piece of rolled up parchment. What is it spike can’t you see… wait is that a letter from Celestia?” Without letting him respond she levitates the note closer and began reading it. She then lifted her head “what is it?” A couple of her friends asked “it’s a notice, the Princess is looking… for you Erebus, it says we are to bring you to Canterlot as soon as time permits” she then looked at her friends and then back to Erebus. “Alright free trip to Canterlot” Rainbow Dash said “Ahh I get to show off my new dress to the royals” Rarity exclaimed “Oh I get another chance to see all the wonderful animals again” Fluttershy day dreamed “I’m sorry girls but this isn’t a vacation, we have a mystery to solve” Twilight addressed and then turned to Erebus “So are you going to come quietly or are we going to have to drag you?” “If it’s all the same milady I do would enjoy being untied so this one shall comply” “Good” Twilight said and had begun untying him “but I’m going to leave the anti-magic ring for safety.” So then the seven of them started on their way to the friendship express headed for Canterlot, and had hoped to shed some light on this conundrum. The train ride turned silent as everypony just stared out the window this went on for a while until Twilight turned to Erebus. “So when did you first meet Luna” he turned away from the window and looked at her “I shall comply, if thou wouldst kindly remove this ring” Erebus then tilted his horn to Twilight “As much fun as it would be to track you down again I’d rather not, how about you tell me why you refer to yourself as this one” Twilight had hoped that he would be more willing to answer this question “This one would tell you for a price, this one would barter for a muffin” a gurgling sound could be heard from his stomach he looked hungry “This one hasn’t eaten since the fall of last moon” Twilight found this a more reasonable compromise and went to the back of the train where the fridge was. She returned from the back with a blueberry muffin and placed it in front of Erebus “here you go now I’d like to hear that story” upon the sight of food in front of him coped with the fact that he hadn’t eaten in a whole day he spared no manners and nommed it down so fast that he almost forgot to use his hooves. “Well it isn’t much of a tale, more of a sad story you see this one was once a kind and generous colt, but he had to do some bad things, things he’ll never forget even if he tried and it felt as if I was watching another life play out and I had no control.” “Oh that’s awful, I’m sorry I brought up your painful memories” Twilight then looked to the ground with a saddened expression on her face “Tis quite all right milady though we can’t change the past the future holds infinite possibilities” he said trying to form a smile it was quite an awkward smile but she smiled back, at this time the train had almost reached its destination for Canterlot Castle was now in sight. Erebus could feel the nervousness gripping at him as train got closer and closer to its destination several escape plans even crossed his mind. The train was now minutes away from the station all plans of escape now would have been futile this reunion was inevitable. The train pulled into the station and the doors swung open making Erebus’ heart skip a beat his nerves were being grinded to the core, he got up out of his seat along with the rest of the crew as thoughts started filling his head; what was Luna like now, did she even remember him, what would he say to his old mentor, etcetera. As the seven of them trotted through town escorted by two of Celestia’s royal guards, Erebus looked around and saw the faces of many royals who looked like they were shunning him but little did he know it wasn’t him they were shunning but his companions after a certain accident at a certain gala. Finally at the front gate of Canterlot Castle Erebus was visibly shaking at this point and the door swung open to reveal… no one, it was empty a third guard walked up to the other two and whispered in his ear then left “it seems the Princess wants to meet you in Princess Luna’s bedchambers, right this way please” as he changed direction and headed through a corridor to the left the continued down a long hallway and finally ended at the base of a spiraling staircase “The Princess’ room is at the top, please don’t keep them waiting long” then the guard took off. This was it, at the top of those stairs were the Princesses of Night and Day, Luna and Celestia, it has been so long since Erebus has seen either of them. Erebus was now shaking so bad you’d think he spent the night locked in a freezer then the seven of them had finally made it to the door “you ready Erebus” Twilight said looking back at Erebus then a couple breathing exercises later he nodded, Twilight then opened the door. As the doors swung open there stood the radiant Princesses who peered over at Erebus “girls” Celestia had started “let us give Erebus and Luna a personal moment alone” to which the six fillies nodded and started back down the stairs with Celestia in tow “good luck you two” Celestia had stated as she closed the door leaving Luna and Erebus now totally alone. “Erebus oh we are ever so glad to see you again” Luna said running over to Erebus who had at this point curled into a ball, Luna stared at him then turned her head away “we understand if thou still harbors resentment for what we hath put you through” Erebus raised his head to her words. “My Princess shed not a tear for me for being by your side was some of the greatest moments in my life” Luna looked back at Erebus whose expression had now changed from fear to compassion “Oh Erebus we thank thee for always being by our side even through the darkest of times” “Milady oh how I have missed this you, I knew that someday you would return to your normal self” now overjoyed at seeing the kind Luna Erebus ran towards her and embraced her. “I’m sorry Erebus but now that the nightmare is over I can be Luna once again, but I am missing something if you’d care for one more task” Erebus had now released the Princess from his hug “Anything milady, ask and I will spare no expense in finding it” Erebus had a determined look about him “I’m going to need another assistant and faithful student” Erebus stepped back shocked but then nodded “I shall find only the best qualified milady” he bowed “Well there is no need to look far” trying to hide her anxious smile “What do thou mean Princess” Erebus cocked his head in confusion “Erebus, would you like to return to my side as my greatest assistance and most trusted student” Erebus’ face lit up with excitement he could hardly contain himself “Yes yes a thousand times yes oh Princess I’ve missed thee” “And I have missed you to Erebus” Luna and Erebus embraced one another a second time for one of the most emotional hug ever unrecorded. Then the two separated and through the door burst seven little eavesdroppers “awww” six said in unison and Celestia appeared before them “Well I am glad the two of you could get along again” Celestia smiled as she winked at Erebus then Luna replied “I do have one thing to ask dear sister, how did Erebus get banished to the moon as well.” Erebus then nodded towards Celestia “You see after I had banished you I was stricken with grief, that is until Erebus approached me and asked that he be sent to with you, upon asking him why he simply replied” she looked to Erebus “Every treasure needs a guardian, and to me you were the greatest treasure in the entire world” Luna was surprised at Erebus’ words but then blushed as she smiled with all the girls now in a romantic awe Luna had one last question “Erebus can I ask one last thing, why does thou hath a ring atop thy horn” Erebus then remember that Twilight had left the anti-magic ring on his horn “Oh right Twilight would you be a dear and please remove it” to which Twilight lifted the ring and set Erebus free. “Alright” Pinkie Pie butted in “now that you guys are reunited we need a party I was thinking streamers no balloons wait no ribbons or how about…” it was a long day and after a great party and lots of reminiscing the night had come and everypony went back to the train to go home except Erebus who decided to stay in Canterlot with Luna as tomorrow started his first day as her assistant. Chapter 3Dear Princess… Chapter 3 It was Erebus’ first night on the job and he was very excited. He entered Luna’s chambers to see that she had been still asleep, but was not surprised she was always like that he just smiled and started looking around for tasks. First he went to feed the nocturnal animals, as he got there he found that there was already someone else was already doing it. “That’s alright” he thought “just one less thing for me to do” and he walked off. The next task was watering the night flowers there were several moon flowers in the garden, but like before someone else was already there watering the flowers. Erebus’ heart sank with the thought that the tasks he was once entrusted with were now easily given to somepony else. Now struck with a feeling of uselessness he decided it was time to head back to Luna’s chambers, upon returning he found that she has awoken. “Good evening Erebus, how fairs thee.” “Princess, if I may ask what is it I am expected to do as your assistant?” “Well… as you may have seen after you and I were banished my sister had taken the role of keeper of the night and in doing so appointed several ponies to perform the tasks of the night.” She said with the same dismal expression Erebus had. “So what should you have me tend to Princess?” Erebus wanted to change the subject to try and lighten the mood. “Erebus, come with me I wish to show you something.” Luna turned to an old bookshelf in the corner of her room and used her magic on it. It then begun to glow and then swung open to reveal a secret passage and Luna motioned for Erebus to follow. It was a dark downward leading spiral staircase and the only light source came from Luna’s horn. They walked for what seemed like hours until they reached a large door with light filtering out from all around it. Luna pushed the door open and after Erebus’ eyes adjusted to the light he saw that the room was fairly large and it was full of books and scrolls. “Princess what is this” Erebus said cocking his head in astonishment, “This is the night’s royal archives, I haven’t been down here for some time and it has grown rather squalid in my absence. For your first task Erebus I would like for you to clean this area.” And with that Erebus nodded his head and the Princess took off back up stairs. Erebus had begun animating brooms and mops to clean for him giving him time to look around at the many books, but one caught his eye. The book that grabbed his attention was none other than his own journal that he started the first day of being Princess Luna’s student. He blew the dust on the cover to reveal his name scribbled on the front, it was indeed his old journal so he opened it and began to read it reliving the moments once again. “Day 1, I am so thrilled that I was chosen above others for this grandiose position. I can’t wait for all the amazing things I will get to see and learn while I’m here.” “I was so happy back in times of old” he thought to himself and he skipped ahead a few pages. “Day 43, I have gotten to know everypony in the castle fairly well, the chefs in the kitchen sometimes slip me an extra muffin at lunch.” “Night 60, I have grown used to the nocturnal life as the Princess’ student and from hence forth I shall write in nights to honor Luna.” “Night 150, I hath been taken speech classes by request of milady the Princess to raise appeal.” These were all fond memories for Erebus but then he decided to see if they left the later entries, so he skipped ahead but this time by eight years, for in those two years Luna had begun to change into something Erebus wished he could forget. “Year 8 Night 17, I have been milady student for eight cycles now and I had thought I have seen every side of her, but like most ponies everyone has a side they keep hidden and try to never show. Luna was no exception I have started to see her spite, jealousy, envy, and even hate they are not shown openly but I can see them behind her eyes with every glance towards her sister. Part of him wanted to close the book now and forget about the rest but, he wanted to finish he needed to finish for this was his history. “Year 9 Night 162, Luna has demanded that all who serve under must now refer to her as master and has kept everypony awake all night for a week now I may not mind but the day guards and workers seem quite upset.” “Year 9 Night 237, I’ve seen something on my way to the library that scared me more than anything in my entire life, it twas master… but she was as dark as a stormy night and the look in her eyes could kill with but a glance, it was something I could only describe as a nightmare.” “Year 9 Night 317, this one’s master has donned a cloak to shroud her new form from the rest of the castle but this one hath already seen everything, it still haunts the nightmares of this one. Now master has given many a strange request for me spying, tampering, and even sabotage I have seen what happens to those who disobey I feel as though I have no control over my actions anymore, but I can say this, the monster that calls herself the Princess is not my Luna… not anymore.” Erebus reeling in agony as he dropped the book and the dark memories flooded back, he then lost concentration causing the cleaning utensils to fall to the ground all around him. Luna had returned shortly after and saw a quivering stallion staring off as if in a trance. She quickly rushed to his side and saw the book that he had read and embraced him saying softly in his ear “worry not, for the nightmare is over and shall never return.” Upon hearing the kind words spoken by the one he had always cared for and admired snapped Erebus back to reality and reassured him of Luna’s return and permanent stay. Seeing how Erebus was once again ok Luna released him and steeped back to say something to show she was never going back to the darkened state that was Nightmare Moon. “Erebus I know it must have been a great strain on thee to with stand such torture that I once bequeathed to thee. But I should say that I may have read your journal while you were out and I rather enjoyed the final entry.” After so long Erebus had forgotten what the final entry was and Luna opened the book to the final page. “Year 11 Night my last for a while, this is going to be my final entry into this journal, I have seen Celestia banish Nightmare Moon and Luna along with it. I have since approached Princess Celestia and pleaded for the following request; I wish to be banished to the moon with Princess Luna, and I want to be there for as long as she for when she does return she will need someone on which she can depend and trust. For every great treasure needs a guardian and to me Luna was the greatest treasure in all of Equestria and I wish to be by her side for as long as I live.” Luna then closed the book and returned its place on the bookshelf Erebus had a big smile on his face remembering his final words to the Princess. Erebus had been in the secret library for quite some and then Luna remembered that she had to go and lower the moon to make way for her sister, as she left Erebus resumed cleaning and soon finished in no time at all he felt exhausted and decided that it was time for some rest as he ascended the winding staircase once again. Upon reaching the top he saw Luna flying in from the outside after finishing her duties and she also gave out a yawn, then as she saw him motioning to leave her quarters she stopped him. “Um, Erebus can I ask thou a favor?” She said half looking at Erebus and half gazing at the ground. “What is it milady you know I would do anything for thee?” She then looked up at him fully “I’m sure you would be more at ease if you slept in my room tonight so I had asked the staff to prepare you a bed over there.” She said pointing to a smallish bed a few feet from Luna’s own. Erebus could see from her face what she clearly wanted to say but he enjoyed the Princess’ company and walked to his new bed and with Luna now sleeping next to him he felt as ease, his eyes started to grow heavy and his thoughts had begun to wondered as he soon found himself surrounded by the warm embrace that was sleep. Erebus awoke at the dawn of the next night, but this time Luna had gotten up before him and already raised the moon and begun to put up the stars. He pondered what his tasks for the evening were for he had finished cleaning the nights archive room what could the Princess have need for him tonight, Luna entered the room as Erebus was in mid-thought. “Ah Erebus I see thou hast awoken, art thou prepared for tonight’s duties.” Luna had said a bit happier that normal which was good. “Milady I will always be ready, name the task and it shall be done.” Erebus replied with confidence for seeing Luna’s smile made him feel like he could take on the world. With that Luna gave Erebus a scroll and proceeded to explain. “Erebus this is your job for tonight, I hope thee can handle it.” Erebus looked confused until he opened it. “Milady this looks to be a list of… uh, well complaints and tasks” “Indeed it is Erebus and I wish for thou to see to them and hopefully gain favor from the citizens of Canterlot, I wish thee luck Erebus.” And with the list in hoof Erebus went off to see to the first item on the list. Upon gathering a few things such as a pen some paper and a bag he headed out of the castle and headed off to the first pony’s house. There certainly were a lot of homes in Canterlot compared to Ponyville but after a bit of effort he managed to find it and knocked on the door. When it opened a young Pegasus filly greeted him. “A bit late for house calls don’t you think.” She said in a tired voice rubbing her eyes “My apologies young miss but I am here on behalf of Princess Luna about your problem” this made her a bit more serious and she invited him in her home. “I’m sorry it’s a bit messy I wasn’t expecting company, now about my problem.” She sat down in front of Erebus as she began to explain her trouble. “You see the problem is that the track around where I practice is poorly lit at night and I was wondering if I could get some lights put up to make things easier to see.” A simple request surly one Erebus could handle. “I shall see to your problem with haste and get some lights put up around the track.” “Oh thank you mister… um I don’t think I caught your name.” “It’s Erebus, current assistant to Princess Luna.” “Well my names Spitfire it was nice meeting you.” Erebus then returned to Luna to make the arrangements for a construction crew to put up some lighting and receive a bit of congratulation. This isn’t so bad Erebus thought then he unrolled the list completely, the size of the list pared with the constant addition of new tasks almost made Erebus lose heart but after some encouragement from Luna he decided to continue on to the next task. Chapter 4Dear Princess… Chapter 4 Erebus had been working on his “Important” task now for a week and he was starting to feel… underachieved. He understood full well that these tasks were important but just not requiring of his particular skill set, he would go talk to Luna at day’s end. “Milady… I’ve come to a bit of a, predicament.” Erebus was a bit reluctant to label Luna’s assigned tasks as inadequate but he felt he was in a rut, and it’s only been a week. “Speak my assistant, thou hast my attention.” “You see it’s a matter of difficulty, I feel as though my tasks are below me, I’m deeply sorry Milady.” Erebus bowed his head shamefully. “I see, though the tasks I presented were rather meager they stood only as a warm up, I see you are now ready for what comes.” Luna had a bit of a shimmer in her eyes that shone of anticipation. “If I may ask, what am I ready for? Erebus braced himself nervously. “I would like to teach you a very special and highly forbidden magic, it is rivaled in secrecy only to control of the sun and moon to anyone but my sister and I.” Luna gave a rather fond smile. “If I may inquire a second time, why would you teach such a forbidden magic to me?” “If thou wishes to assist me then this spell is required, you do still wish to assist me correct?” Luna’s smile turned into a confused turn of the head. “Milady I would anything for thou, When can we start?” “Immediately, now follow me I have a lot to teach in a short time.” Luna pulled the book from the book case and the two faded from sight to return to the secret underground library. Luna made sure no one was following then she aimed her horn at a section of bookshelves and charged her magic, at first it didn’t seem to have any effect. Then the entire room started changing colors from its usual stone gray to vibrant hues of dark blue and purple, Erebus was in awe of what was occurring around him and Luna just gave a bit of a smirk. Then small white dots littered the ceiling and began to almost glimmer. “Luna, what is all this.” Erebus’ voice trailed as his mind was trying to grasp what she had just done. “This Erebus is known as the dreamscape, or the border between reality and fantasy. In a world such as this anything is possible as long as control is maintained. Here take a look at the books on the shelves now.” Erebus picked up a random book and flipped through it. “Journals, no these are records of… dreams?” Erebus was confused he never knew that Luna had the power to enter dreams before. “Yes Erebus those in particular are the dreams of a pony from Ponyville, everyone in Equestria hath a book of all the dreams I have seen, as well as how it could affect their daily lives.” “Well how come there aren’t many books here though milady?” Erebus look to all the bookshelves there were only a couple, and in total there had to be only about 100 to 150 book at most. “Yes well, the thing is I have only been around for a short time and I try to fix as much as I can but there is only so much time in a night, this is where you come in Erebus I need you to help me in the aiding and recording of everyone’s dreams specifically the ones that turn into nightmares.” Erebus sat down, this was a lot to take in this is a new world of excitement and helping others, but that also meant that it is full of new dangers and unforeseen peril Erebus knew what must be done. “Luna, I have thought this over and I know what I should do, my only hope is that the choice I make is the right one.” Erebus sighed. “Erebus, they’re no right or wrong choices but how you carry out the choice that decides outcomes.” Luna turned to face the bookshelf once more. “I understand if the task is too great a burden Erebus.” “Milady, please do not sell your assistant so shortly. Though it be true the risks are great, I made a promise to help you in any way I can, and that’s a promise I intend to see through milady… Luna.” Luna turned around with a smile across her face. “Thank you Erebus. First things first though take this it’s an enchanted amulet that will allow only a single chosen person to enter this dreamscape.” it was a weird design but it looked very inconspicuous. “Now we can begin the first part of your training, I’m going to send you into your own dream with a small piece of my power to help guide you. This isn’t going to be easy Erebus, but I have faith in you.” With a nod from Erebus Luna charged her horn and placed it upon Erebus’ forehead and his eyes grew heavy and soon his mind drifted into a magic induced slumber. Everything was blurry at first; as he lay there on the floor waiting for his eyes to adjust his mind wandered around theories of what this dreamscape was going to be like and what kind of mysteries would he stumble upon. He rubbed his eyes in anticipation as his vision came into focus, to his surprise the room in which he was in looked identical to… the room he was just in. Either Canterlot and the Dreamscape have the same architect, or the spell didn’t work. He looked around for Luna but she was nowhere to be seen. “Luna, where did thou go?” Erebus called out but he got no response. He walked around a bit in search of any sign to where he was, if he was even anywhere at all. He also wondered if this was a test given to him by Luna, but surely the Princess would have appeared before him and told him of such… right? Erebus had begun walking around the small archive and noticed nothing out of the ordinary. “Have I really been transported to an alternate realm?” Erebus said aloud to himself quite quizzically. Even though he wasn’t addressing anyone he had hoped that someone would have heard him and responded. Though Erebus had thought of leaving there was no exit door, so he was forced to wander aimlessly. Erebus grew quite bored with just walking around and figured while he was here he could kill some time by reading one of these old books, and who knows maybe he might learn something new. After surveying the area he decided on the first book, it was a sort of curious book as it was the only one on its shelf. The curiousness of the book only increased as Erebus looked it over; it was bound in red leather, its spine was warped, and the faded gold lettering was nearly illegible. It seemed to almost hymn as Erebus held it in his hand beckoning him to open it and gaze upon its many secrets. Beams of light shown as he opened the cover, it felt as if it was scanning him over but before he could do anything it was over. The once blank and yellowing pages begun to fill with words and pictures, it was then that Erebus knew what he had stumbled upon and took a second look at the cover to confirm his suspicions. He was right this was no ordinary book, the faded gold lettering turned to a smoky black as the title now became legible. It had only been one word and it shook Erebus to his core as he stared at this one word “EREBUS.” These were the records of his dreams.
Chapter 1Dear Princess… Chapter 1 “The Nightmare has come and gone, The cold winter has all been wrapped up, All the autumn leaves have all fallen from the trees, The Grand Galloping Gala has already passed, Peace and harmony have flourished in Equestria.” “It has been many moons since last this one has laid eyes upon this village has is not?” one Unicorn questioned himself as he trotted around a small town admiring the structures around him “it seems thy land has changed since last this one saw, but that was more than a thousand years ago.” His black coat, mane, and tail almost completely shrouded him in the shadowy moonlight, but the prominent red stripe down the center of his mane and tail were very unmistakable; the stallion’s name was Erebus. “But… but Celestia never said anything about having another student before me.” “That’s because this one was not the student of Celestia but of the princess of the night Luna.”
Chapter 2Dear Princess… Chapter 2 “Wait a minute you mean to tell me that your teacher was Luna, the Princess Luna” Twilight had said looking for a logical solution to what she had just heard, but before she could continue a baby purple dragon entered the room with a piece of rolled up parchment.
