From Enigma to Icon

The Orphan

It's just a normal day in the Crystal Empire, the citizens were enjoying their day like anypony else. A crystal pony is currently heading to the train station to begin her day of work. Approaching the door to the ticket booth, she prepares to unlock the door, until a faint cry is heard. "Huh?" she asks in confusion. As the crying begins to grow, her curiosity does also. Moving away from the ticket booth, she heads to the boarding station. "What is that?" she asks as the cries grow. As she begins to turn around, she fids the source of the crying in the form of a basket. "What is that?" she asks while approaching the basket. What she finds inside however, only leaves more questions. Inside the basket is a blanketed foal, with a note attached to it. "Who would leave you here little one?" she asks. Upon reading the note, her eyes grow wide in shock. Grabbing the baskets handle, she hastily makes her way to the Crystal Castle.

We find Princess Cadence enjoying a morning breakfast with her husband, Shining Armor. the peaceful morning is interrupted however, with the rude arrival of a Crystal Guard. "I apologize your majesty," he says, "but I'm afraid we have a bit of a problem." Both the Crystal Princess and her Husband raise an eyebrow at this. Swallowing her food Cadence speaks," What kind of problem?" "One of the Citizens has found a foal abandoned at the train station your highness." Hearing this, Cadence and Shining Armor look at one another before leaving their dining hall in a hurry. Upon arriving in the throne room, The Crystal Princess is met by the crystal pony from the train station. "Your Highness, I'm terribly sorry if I interrupted anything, but this seemed like something I should really speak to you about." She says. "It's alright, my husband and I were merely finishing up breakfast when the guards came to us. So where is this foal you allegedly found abandoned at the train station?" The mare merely steps aside to reveal a small gray foal with a black and purple mane  in a basket, wrapped in blankets. Cadence gasps at seeing the newborn and slowly approaches it. "Your Majesty, this note was also attached to the newborn." The crystal pony hands Cadence the note, "I was shocked when I first read it." Cadence looks at the note and begins to read it.

To anypony that finds this,

Wrapped safely inside this basket is my son, Enigma. he is one year old and I can not care for him on the account that I was diagnosed with Cancer three weeks prior to writing this. It is with a heavy heart that I give up my son, with the last of my Magic as a unicorn, I teleport him to somewhere safe and loving. If anypony finds this, please take care of him. My husband died before Enigma was born and My parents will merely turn him into a corporate puppet like I was to be. Please protect my Enigma, I will watch him from beyond the gave while others care for him here.

Upon finishing the letter, Cadence lets a lone tear fall down her face. "I don't believe what i just read." she says. Suddenly, Enigma begins to cry. Hearing this, Cadence wraps the foal in her magic and gently calms him down, "Shhh, it's okay. your safe here. We'll take good care of you." She says i a soothing voice. Enigma slowly, but surely, begins to fall asleep again, and it at this moment, Cadence sends a letter to the Crystal Empire Orphanage. "Guard, send word to the orphanage that they will be expecting a new arrival." she orders. The guard nods at this and heads to the orphanage to deliver the message. After he leaves, Cadence and Shining Armor look at the newborn Foal who is now fully awoken and staring at them. "Cadence, you know we cant keep him." Shining tells her. "I know, but I at least want him to have a roof over his head and something to eat. He's been through a lot recently, it's the least we could do." she replies. The basket then suddenly flips to the side and out rolls Enigma with a smile on his face. "Ha!" he laughs at the feeling of the crystal floor. Cadence giggles at this and help him back into the basket, "Your destined for great things Enigma, i just know it." she tells him.  As Enigma begins to fall asleep again, he is taken to the Crystal Empire Orphanage to be cared for.

Later that Day, the royals receive a letter in the mail. "I wonder what this could be?" Cadence wonders. Upon opening the envelope, the Letters EWF are written in the center of the top. "Cadence what is it?" Shining asks. "Apparently, the Equestria Wrestling Federation wants to Know if we'd be interested in having the empire be the host for their first ever pay-per-view, WrestleMania." "Cadence, I'm not one for that kind of thing, but for the empire's sake, i think it would be a great opportunity to bring in tourists, like we did with the Equestria Games." "Okay then, I shall send them an acceptance letter, The Crystal Empire will be the Host for WrestleMania I."

Completely unaware of what they had just done, Enigma's future was now set in stone. When the time came for WrestleMania, he watched it from the Orphanage when a careless staff member accidentally left the TV on. Crying and complaining when ever somepony would turn off the TV, he go to watch the likes of Equestrian Dream, Nature Colt, Hulkster, Ultimate Warrior, Macho Colt, and many other superstars preform in the ring. With his dream now set, Enigma would stop at nothing to become a EWF superstar, and win the coveted EWF World Heavyweight Championship.
