Apple Bloom looked around at the boredom that surrounded her. Ms. Cheerilee was at the front of the room, talking about princesses, and Equestrian government. Ponies like Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon were sitting in the front row, staring at her eagerly and writing down every word she said that might help them become royalty.
She looked behind her, were Snips and Snails were hiding cell phones under the table and whispering excitedly about a video game they were playing. In front of her, Sweetie Belle was scribbling down every different word for boredom that she could think of. Scootaloo, who was sitting next to Twist in the back row, was staring blankly at the clock. "10 minutes left," Apple Bloom heard her whisper to Twist. Twist smiled for a split second before realizing that ten minutes was still quite a long time.
Her smile vanished. "Well, this is depressing," Apple Bloom muttered. She became slightly more interested in what Ms. Cheerilee had to say when the teacher walked to her desk, grabbed a pile of notebooks, and told Diamond Tiara to pass them out to the class. When Diamond Tiara reached Apple Bloom's desk, she threw one on to the table with a dull thud. Apple Bloom wrote her name on the cover, and stared at it, itching to write in it. The cover said:

Sweetie Belle turned around. "Apple Bloom! Look!"

An inspired Apple Bloom wrote:

"Now that is way better than anypony's journal." She thought.
Diamond Tiara dumped a notebook on Scootaloo's desk. It was a plain brown book. The pages had boring, straight, blue lines that were all exactly the same. Scootaloo thought she might die of boredom just looking at it. There was a sticker on the front that said:

"Oh, c'mon! what type of title is that?!" Scootaloo said to nopony in particular. "But I can make it better..." a creepy evil sort of grin spread across her face and Scootaloo scribbled something on the cover of her notebook.
***Cheerilee's POV***
As if to answer Scoot's earlier question, Ms. Cheerilee stood up from her desk. "Alright my little ponies, you're probably wondering what you will get to write in your journals. This is a new project where you will write an entry in your journals every day until Monday. Then you will hand them in, and also read your best entry to the class." Loud cheers followed this statement. Then the bell rang, and the silence came as quickly as it had gone, leaving the smiling teacher standing alone at the front of an empty schoolroom. "This one is going to be good. I can feel it. I trust them to make up for the bad marks they got on last week's test." The smile disappeared as she remembered one answer to "Name all 4 princesses." One student had written, "I, Really, Don't, and Know."
***End Of Cheerilee's POV***
Once Cheerilee had left the building, Sweetie Belle crawled out of the bush she had been hiding in. The other two CMC members followed close behind. "Guys, did you hear what Ms. Cheerilee said about our journals? We've got to make them good!" She said, pulling her journal out of her bag. "Did you make your title better too Scoots?" Sweetie Belle pointed to the cover of her notebook. Scootaloo smiled as she showed her friends:

Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle just stared in total and complete amazement.
"What should we do to get our cutie marks today?" Scootaloo asked, breaking the silence. "Maybe...we could try..."
"CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS PARTY PLANNERS! YAY!" The three happy fillies raced into sunny Ponyville to find Pinkie Pie. They would certainly have alot to write about in their journals.
Later that day...
Three small happy bouncing ponies all on sugar highs walked through the quiet streets of Ponyville to Sweet Apple Acres. The sun was setting, birds were softly chirping, all was peaceful. All except those three ponies. "Race y'all ta the Clubhouse!" Shouted the pale yellow earth pony.
Her friends cheered and took off after her. At the clubhouse, the orange pegasus shouted "I Won!" Which led to much arguing about whether she actually won or not.
"Girls, it's been fun, but Ah've really gotta go home. AJ's gonna freak out if Ah don't get home on time."
"Sure. See ya later guys! Rarity probably wants me home too."
"Same with my family. Better get going!"
All three girls took off in their seperate directions.
Scootaloo drove her scooter through the abandoned streets of Ponyville. The part of town that nopony went, because the crummy buildings were all part of the garbage dump and recycling center. This sad neighbourhood always smelled like a mixture of someone's taco from two months ago, old bananas, and, well, garbage. Scoots rode past the dump and into a dark, damp, empty alleyway that had nothing in it other than a soggy pile of cardboard boxes. Her scooter hit something and it sent her flying further into the lane. She landed on the ground with a thump, earning nothing but a scrape from the tin can that had tripped her. She hid her scooter and saddle bag in one of the boxes and crawled into a second one, pulling another over top of her to keep warm. She fell asleep quickly. Scootaloo was home.
Sweetie Belle couldn't sleep. She walked across her room, grabbed her journal from her saddle bag, shoved some crayons and scraps of paper off her desk, and sat down.
Dear Diary, Sweetie Belle started to write.
