Chapter 1: The New Princess
Spring Daze lay in bed. Fast asleep. A long day of farm work lay behind her. Spring Daze was drifting off into deep sleep when a dream came up. Princess Luna stood before Spring Daze.
"Princess Luna!" The farm pony squealed in front of her highness.
"Why hello my dear, Spring Daze." Princess Luna told the small pony, "I can assume you are wondering what brought me to your dreams tonight."
Spring Daze nodded excitedly, "Oh I sure do Princess Luna!" She was squealing with pure excitement. A farm Pegasus like her didn't see princesses often.
"Princess Celestia has admired your compassion, dedication and loyalty to your farm and it's creatures." Princess Luna told Spring Daze. By now Spring Daze was hopping in excitement, "And soon you will be Equestria's newest princess: Spring Daze, Princess of Nature!"
Spring Daze couldn't help herself. She started to hop around and squeal in excitement. Princess Luna simply watched and giggled.
"When you wake up in the morning," Princess Luna told Spring Daze, "Princess Celestia will be outside, and you will be given your horn."
The dream slowly started to depart. But Spring Daze didn't even notice. She woke up seconds later remembering the entire dream. Spring Daze planned to tell her family in the morning. She slowly went back into a deep sleep.
Spring Daze woke up the next morning. The clock read 9:33 AM. "I'm late for my farm work!" She whispered. Then Spring Daze remembered the dream and sighed with relief. She stepped outside and to little surprise Princess Celestia was standing there. Spring Daze saw her mother talking to this great alicorn.
"You are sure she is ready?" Spring Daze heard her mother, Pink Blossom, telling Princess Celestia.
The alicorn nodded with her typical smile. "She is the best pony I could find in Equestria to suit the job." Princess Celestia told Pink Blossom.
Spring Daze quickly trotted outside to join her mother and the great princess. "Ah" Princess Celestia said looking at Spring Daze, "The pony herself." Spring Daze wasn't too excited anymore. She knew being a princess would lead her to seeing many famous mares and stallions.
"Let us get everything ready at once." Princess Celestia told Spring Daze and Pink Blossom. There was slight worry in her voice. Spring Daze felt herself being lifted up, higher and higher. A golden orb was on her forehead. Suddenly, she started to slowly flow down. Something was on her forehead now: A horn!
"Princess Twilight Sparkle will help Spring Daze learn magic." Princess Celestia told both Pink Blossom and the new princess. Princess Celestia nudged Spring Daze from the ground.
"Goodbye Momma." Spring Daze said while she sprung into her mother's arms.
"Goodbye Princess." Pink Blossom told Spring Daze, "Be brave out there." Spring Daze nodded.
Princess Celestia started to lead Spring Daze to a royal carriage. Her family watched her leave, waving through the windows. Spring Daze waved back. She hopped into the carriage with Princess Celestia and saw her family slowly disappearing.
"Back at Canterlot," The Princess began, "You will be given a room in me and Luna's castle and have a coronation. After that, Princess Twilight will help you with your magic. Then you will be given a task."
Manehatten passed over. Many ponies pointed to the carriage, some seeing the new alicorn.
"What is my task?" Spring Daze asked Princess Celestia.
"You are soon to know." Princess Celestia said in quick response.
Spring Daze saw sights she had never seen. Manehatten was long gone and Ponyville lay under. The carriage rode over a castle in the shape of a tree.
"Ah," Princess Celestia told Spring Daze, "That is Twilight's castle. You will definitely go in it sometime soon."
A few minutes passed and Canterlot came into view. The carriage landed at the castle and the two princesses walked in. The guards standing in the room came in and bowed. Spring Daze looked a little uncomfortable considering she moved from the simplest and most ordinary life to one of the most complex.
"Princess Cadence and Princess Twilight await your coming." Princess Celestia told Spring Daze. One of the guards led Spring Daze down a large royal hallway. Being a farm pony, Spring Daze had never seen anything as beautiful. The guard led her to a very large door.
"Your Highness." He told her bowing. Spring Daze walked into the room shyly. Two princesses sat on a sofa in the room chatting. When they noticed Spring Daze come in they bowed. Spring Daze bowed back.
"Welcome." Princess Cadance told Spring Daze bowing again, "Would you like to sit?" Princess Cadance pointed to a beautiful velvet chair. Spring Daze nodded. It looked like shyness overcame her now.
"Would you like to tell us about yourself a little." Twilight asked Spring Daze. "I bet you have a lot to say, Spring Daze."
Spring Daze nodded. "First, call me Spring." She said, "And it might not interest you much since I'm just a farm pony. Spring shrugged. "I don't know why Princess Celestia picked me as Princess of Nature."
An awkward silence followed.
"I'm sure the princess has her reasons." Twilight told Spring.
A royal guard burst into the room. "Princesses," He said to all three, "The coronation will be held this evening." And he left, leaving the three princesses to giggle and talk in excitement on their own. Spring felt no shyness anymore. It was only laughter and excitement!
Chapter 2: A Jealous Applejack
Applejack had been bucking apples all day. She couldn't wait to just hop into her soft bed and go to sleep.
"Applejack! Applejack!" Apple Bloom said when she burst into Applejack's room.
"Apple Bloom," Applejack told her sister, "Why can you never come in calmly?"
Apple Bloom looked a little bit guilty, "Sorry , Sis" She said apologetically, "But there's a new princess! Her name is Princess Spring Daze, and you're invited to her coronation!"
Apple Bloom kept talking "Princess Luna has just left her dream, and she'll get a horn tomorrow! You'll have so much in common since you're both hardworkin' farm ponies!"
Applejack didn't have a happy expression on her face. "How do you know Apple Bloom?" She asked in suspicion.
"Granny Smith told me, and she got it from your invitation saying it all! This is so excitin'!"
Applejack looked anything but excited. She went off to sleep without another word.
Twilight was walking through the garden with Spring. Her friends had arrived at the castle, all but Applejack, and were in a castle suite while Rarity made them dresses. Spike stayed home at the castle.
"We could use the ones we used for Twilight's coronation, can't we?" Rainbow Dash asked as Rarity finished up Pinkie Pie's dress.
"Oh heavens no!" Rarity answered, "You must make a new start for an event so marvelous."
"It's soooooo exciting!" Pinkie Pie said while hopping up and down, "Have you ever been more excited? Have you Rarity? Fluttershy? Rainbow Dash?"
"But why isn't Applejack here?" Fluttershy asked no one in particular, "She was really happy to go to Twilight's coronation."
"Oh, darling." Rarity told Pinkie Pie, about to change the topic, "You simply must try this on!" She nudged Pinkie into another room to try on the dress she had just finished.
"You look gorgeous!" Rarity told Pinkie in awe as she came out, "Now Fluttershy, dear, what would you like in your mane?"
Before she could answer, Applejack walked in looking angry. Her mane was messy and she had bags under her eyes.
"You doing alright, AJ?" Rainbow asked Applejack, knowing the answer.
"No I ain't!" Applejack said the expected answer as she rolled onto a bed.
"Uhm, Applejack?" Fluttershy said quietly, "That's my bed...."
Applejack didn't seem to care she was in her friends bed.
"Oh Applejack, darling!" Rarity said showing Rainbow Dash the first part of the dress she was going to wear, "What would you like for your dress?"
Applejack tossed over so she wasn't facing anyone, "I'm wearin' my gala dress." She said in frustration.
"Oh Applejack," Rarity told AJ, trying to persuade her, "You really should wear a brand new dress."
"And these dresses are better than EVER!" Pinkie Pie said in Rarity's defense.
"I said no and that's that! Now leave me be!" Applejack said as she tried to go to sleep.
Rainbow tried to pull her off the bed by the tail, "Oh come on AJ! What has gotten into you?"
Applejack jumped out of bed. "I don't know why Princess Celestia chose somepony nopony has ever heard of to be Princess of Nature instead of me or Fluttershy!" She yelled that in aggravation and stomped out of the room.
"...Oh my..." Fluttershy whispered.
"Oh no you don't!" Rainbow yelled as she flew out after Applejack
"What happened?!" Twilight screamed as she burst into the room with Spring behind her. Spring looked scared.
Rainbow flew in front of the door as a barricade so Applejack couldn't come back in.
"What is wrong with you, Applejack?!" Rainbow asked her.
Applejack ignored her.
"This isn't you!" Twilight added.
Applejack stopped trying to get in, "Well, I don't see why ya'll don't find it strange that the princess chooses somepony nopony has ever met for such an important role in Equestria!"
Applejack ran out of the castle.
Rainbow was about to go after her. "Let her go," Twilight told Rainbow, "She needs time to herself." Rainbow didn't try and go after Applejack anymore.
"Now, Spring?" Twilight asked Spring trying to calm the room, "Rarity is probably the best fashion designer in Equestria. So, she makes all of our dresses for every big event. So, How would you like your dress?"
"Can I see what Fluttershy wore for the events? I do like nature so I may like the designs for those." Spring asked Rarity a bit excitedly.
"Oh, but of course, darling!" Rarity said as she ran into a walk-in closet and pushed out a rack. Spring took an eye for Fluttershy's dress from Twilight's coronation.
"May I have something similar to this?" Spring asked while wiggling the dress.
"Oh sure, darling!" Rarity said taking the dress off the rack, "I'll just have it here so I can base from it. And I will find a good style for your mane, is that alright dear?" Spring nodded.
Meanwhile, Starlight Glimmer sat outside the castle, hearing every word.
"Perfect." She told herself, "Now I know everything I need for my plan. They mess with my town, they pay the price."
