How Applejack Got Her Hat
"Our story starts on the worst day I ever knew of. My ma an' pa's funeral" started Applejack as she began the story. Apple Bloom could see that Applejack was saddened by the thought of it. Her older sibling's eyes dropped to the floor and her body started to sag like a deflating balloon. "That day was horrible. Just the thought of never seeing my ma cookin' up some fresh-baked apple pie or my pa buck some apple trees is just..... heartbreaking." All the apples had gathered there to witness the occasion. Relatives were coming in from east to west just to come! "When I came back home, I jumped on my bed and started crying like never before. I think I hadn't come out for days! That was until, you started crying in your room." "Huh?" Apple Bloom replied, confused by what her sister said. "You see, if I hadn't gone in your room, I wouldn't have realized something. I'm one o' the closest things you have to a mama. So, I started caring for you. All the time." Applejack smiled. "Before I knew it, mah birthday arrived. It was a small family party. Big Mac had gotten me a blanket. It's still on my bed today! But the best of them is Granny Smith's gift. My ma's hat!" Granny Smith had said "I was digging through the closet and found this. You'd been such a good sister, and you deserve this!" "And I had worn it ever since." Applejack said. Apple Bloom was starting to fall asleep. "Good night, lil' sis" Applejack said. She started to return to her room. Before going on her bed, she gazed at the moonlit sky. Her eyes focused on two certain stars in particular. After staring at them for ten seconds, she saw them both shimmer brightly, as if they were saying something. "Goodnight ma an' pa" Applejack said.
