Prologue:
The mare staggered through the rain, desperately trying to protect her violin case from the water. It was dark, and the sun was only just being raised. A pair of pale blue eyes saw a sheltered area away from the rain and rushed to it, desperate to make sure her instrument was ok. The ancient Violin sat in its's case, the velvet lining not touched by a drop of moisture. The mare sighed and closed the case again. "Almost lost your only chance of survival there Melody... What would mum think?", Melody laid down noting she was on the porch of a cluttered looking house (if you could call it that). A pizza box caught her attention in a nearby garbage bin. She reached out, shuddering from the cold, and snatched it up. She opened it frantically, her stomach rumbling in hunger. Her eyes lit up at the crusts contained within the box. " Thank Celestia... I thought I'd die of starvation." Her voice was sophisticated and her wings spread out, shivering as she ate, the pale red coloration denying the cold. She hadn't been able to stretch them for a while and the joints were stiff. She demolished the crusts and promptly fell asleep, using her violin case as a pillow.
