Chapters The Apple Family
Scootaloo saw an apple tree and thought of the Apple family. They were so kind to her. She remembered meeting her at Diamond Tiara’s cuteceanera party. And the countless sleepovers she had at the barn.

She hated the orphanage. She could barely sleep at night with all the babies and younger filles crying for their mothers. The filles Scootaloo’s age running around chasing each other afraid to sleep due to nightmares. The older kids trying to plan an escape. Apple Bloom let her come over when ever she wanted. She loved sleepovers at the barn. The fresh smell of hay, the comfy blanket, apple Bloom’s warm body beside her. She didn’t like her or anything, she just always felt the need to have someone next to her while she sleeps. The Apple Family were good listeners. She felt she could talk to them about anything. So she did. Big Mac, for being quiet, was good at giving advice. She remembered appearing at their door in tears one night.
Apple Jack answered the door. “What’s wrong sugar cube?”
“I-I hate life it’s awful. I want to leave.”
Apple Jack looked at her, worried. “Come inside I'll make you some hot cocoa. We have apple pie if you want some. “
Scootaloo followed Apple Jack isnde, whiperming and sniffling.
“It'll be alright sugar cube. Don’t be thinking like that. We all need ya here.You're special to us all. You're needed in Equestria, you'll see. Maybe it’s hard right now, but soon, things will get better. Just keep holdin’ on“

She sighed. She missed her friends. But what can she do? She’s already half way there. (She was a very slow flyer and got tired easily, she decided to walk) she had an eda and took out a pen:
Dear Rainbow Dash, I miss my friends, I miss you too. But I can’t go back. To many painful memories. But I can’t go back, I mustn't go back. I got to keep going. Love, Scootaloo
Scootaloo usually writes short letters that get to the point. But this time, she decided to keep writing.
Dear Rainbow Dash,
I’m just so tired. Both kinds of tired. I never slept well, I always had problems sleeping. And I’m just so tired. I am always so stressed so, irritable, and scared. I wish I could be like you.
She paused for a moment. Should she write more? She had so much on her mind. she sighed, took the pen back in her mouth and continued to write.
You are so brave and fearless. You can do anything, you’re my hero! I know fan letters are cliché but, this really isn’t a fan letter. I remember when I first met you. Do you remember? I was trying to learn to fly. I climbed a very tall hill and jumped. I was flapping my wings as hard as i could, but, my wings were useless. I dropped down down down nearing the ground. I thought it was over for me in a way I wish it was. But you saved me. In more ways than one. You flew as fast as you could and swooped down, carrying me in your arms. I cried and clung to you. You always told me I was a brave little warrior and that I could do anything. You were always like a big sister to me and I will miss you dearly.

Just Around the Riverbend
Rainbow Dash and Twilight were both searching for Scootaloo.
“Have you checked your letters” Twilight asked “ She could of told you were she went”
Rainbow Dash shook her head and Twilight brought the letters to her with her magic. Rainbow Dash read it and gasped. “She’s going to the Everfree forest, and not planning to come back!”
“Do you think she’s going to do anything dangerous?” Twilight said as she readied the teleportation spell.
Rainbow Dash shrugged. “I don’t know. Let’s hurry before she gets into any kinda danger!”

Derpy was flying over head through Everfree forest and spotted Scootaloo. She landed and waved at her.
“Hey! how is your trip going?” She smiled warmly at Scootaloo, trying to show that she cared about her.
Scootaloo faked a smile. “Great just wonderful. I just uh, have some letters that need to be sent” She said awkwardly.
Derpy hugged her and took her letters. “Oh I just saw Rainbow Dash and Twilight a few minutes ago! They are looking for you , you know.
Scootaloo smiled. A real smile this time. “Really?” She then frowned. “Tell them to go back, I’m planning on leaving forever. ”
Derpy frowned and looked at Scootaloo, worried. But, before she could say anything, a growl came from the bushes. Derpy stepped out in front of Scootaloo protectively.
Scootaloo struggled to stay asleep as she heard a loud beeping noise and smelt smoke. She just turned 5 and needed a rest after all the fun she had.
“Wake up there's a fire wake up Scootaloo!” Her mom was shouting, dragging her out of bed.
Scootaloo opened her eyes and gasped. The room was hot. very hot. and there was flames everywhere.
“Cover your mouth and noose baby!” Scootaloos mother said, coughing.
Scootaloo did as she was told and closed her eyes. It was a big house, so it took a while it get out. She heard her mom coughing a lot and hoped she’d be okay. Finally Scootaloo felt the air clear and the cold wind blow through her fur and mane.
“Mama! We are out!” Silence. “Mama?”
She opened her eyes. Her mom was no where in sight. Scootaloo whimpered. “Mama!”
Shadows Start to Sing
“Bring her back!” She shouted.
The flames laughed and circled around her smothering her.
“It’s all your fault” They said, bruning her.
“No! NO!” She screamed, her head in her hooves.
She struggled to wake up, but she couldn't.
“Please please no no no no NO!” she screamed.
The flames enveloped around her, making her vision go dark.

She looked around. Darkness. She walked forward. She was pushed by a gaint pony with 7 heads.
“Hello”
“Stupid”
“Flightless”
“Blank
“Flank”
“You shall”
“Never wake”
The monster took a step forward and looked into her eyes. It’s eyes were black, hollow, holes. She screamed. But, no sound came out. The monster grinned with silver teeth that were knives.
“You're trapped”
“Trapped”
“Trapped”
“Trapped”
‘Forever “
“Forever”
She cried out and backed away, tripping and fell into a deep canyon. She flapped her wings but her wings didn’t work. She screamed, but again, no sound came out. She fell into the water hard, and struggled to breath. She felt her lungs collapsing. She tried to swim up, failing her arms and legs, but she just slowly sank deeper, and deeper into the abyss.
“Wake up Scootaloo, wake up!”
If only she could wake up.
As she sank deeper her memories rushed through her troubled mind
Dear Rainbow Dash,
I’m so happy for you that you are in the Wonderblots! Congratulations on achieving your dreams! I will miss you.

“Scootaloo, why are you doing that to yourself ?!’
“Promise you’ll stop cutting?”
Dear Rainbow Dash, I been three months clean! maybe I can make it through maybe I can hold on. Thank you for helping me. Love, Scootaloo.

Dear Rainbow Dash, I tried today, again. It didn’t work. Why won’t it stop? Please let me go. Love, Scootaloo.
“Scootaloo, you need help”! Pelase.”
“I’m fine.”
The Dream Catcher
She felt someone drag her out of the water.
“Scootaloo are you alright? Asked princess Luna.
Scootaloo shook her head “Where am I?”
“You are in a comma, Scootaloo. You can choose whether you want to stay in the living world or leave once I show you how much your friends miss you. You have until sunset to make your decision.“
~x~ Apple Bloom was crying in Apple Jacks arms. “Why. First mom and dad, Winona Granny Smith, and now Scootaloo? She can’t go, she can’t! I love her so much,she has to wake up she has to! I can’t keep losing ponies!”
Apple Jack was crying too, running her hooves through Apple Blooms mane.
“I never even got to tell her I loved her like that..”

Sweetie Belle was in her room, the door locked, keeping Rarity out. “Stop lying she’s going to make it!’ “I hate you you're lying!”
She threw a stuffed animal at the door, went on her bed and sobbed.
“She was the closest friend I ever had, I was supposed to protect her..”

Rainbow Dash was at the bed, with Twilight and the others by her side. Rainbow Dash was crying heavily, trying to wake up Scootaloo. Twilight stopped her and hugged her.
“I can’t lose her she was like my child to me”

Scootaloo wiped her tears from my eyes.
“Have you made a decision?”
Scootaloo nodded. “I want to stay”

Apple Bloom rolled over in bed and smiled. Scootaloo looked so peaceful when she slept. Scootlaoo stirred and whimpered.
She must be having a nightmare. Apple Bloom thought. She hugged Scootaloo closer to her and began to sing softly.
Scootaloo don't you cry, I'll be right here by your side
Just stay with me tonight, and I'll hold you tight
Scootaloo don't you fear , I won't let danger near
I will protect you as if your mine
Hold you close, hold you tight
Hold you until the sunlight
Scootaloo don't you cry
Can't you see, you're dear to me
I love you Scootaloo
Scootaloo couldn't wait for her first air show. She have been planning it for three months. And Rainbow Dash was going to be there! Well, at least she hope she would. Rainbow Dash was busy with the wonderbolts lately. They haven’t hung out much, but, they still talked through letters.Scootaloo was nervous. But, she was passionate. She believed that ponies would like the airshow and her tricks. She looked at the calendar. Three more days. She better go practice. After she sent this letter:
Dear Rainbow Dash,
there are only three days left until the day...

Three days later: She looked around her, seeing new ponies she never met, and a few friends too. Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, Twilight, and Rainbow Dash! She smiled and walked up to the stage.
“Ladies and gentlecolts, I will now start the air show!’ she said loudly and excitedly, soaring into the air. She flipped, twisted and turned through the air with grace and swiftness, breaking through clouds. she flew through hoops and did loop de loops. her friends cheered her on and she went faster and higher, twisting and turning in the air. doing spirals and tricks she made on her own.
Finally, she slowly fluttered back down to the stage and bowed. It was silent for a moment, then her friends erupted in cheers. The rest of the audience walked away, muttering their dislike for the show.she frowned. She thought she did a good job. Maybe she wasn’t a great flyer like Rainbow Dash said she was.
Whimpering, she ran away. Rainbow Dash ran after her. Even though Scootaloo was a teenager, she was a little mentally behind than other ponies her age. Ponies didn’t trust her by herself. Last time she was.. Rainbow Dash didn’t want to think about it. She was the only one that knew about Scootaloo’s problems. Not even Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle knew. Rainbow Dash had to find her, and fast.

Scootaloo was near a lake, looking at her reflection, her tears hitting the water. How could they dislike it so much? she tried her best. Maybe that wasn’t enough. “Your a great flier” Rainbow Dash had told her many times, and so did two of her teachers. Maybe they lied. Maybe they just felt sorry for her and she wasn’t a great flyer after all. she curled up next to the lake and sobbed. Her dream to be in the wonderblots, along with Rainbow Dash, was over. They surely wouldn’t accept her. She was so embarrassed, she wanted to leave Ponyville, and maybe she would.

She took out a pen and started to write
“Dear Rainbow Dash
I will be leaving Ponyville . Permanently. I feel like I don’t belong here. I been ridiculed and bullied ever since I got here. I will move to the everfree forest. Zecora lives there, and she’s fine. I’m just tired of being bullied here and want to go to a place where everyone accepts me. Please don’t try to look for me , I'm not coming back. I’ll be ok on my own. I just can’t show my face again after today. And I gave up my dreams on flying, you were wrong. I’m not a great flyer at all.

She took the letter in her mouth, and went to the mailbox. There, she saw a the mail pony. She was a gray mare pegasus with blonde hair and eyes.She notice one thing that was odd. her eyes went in different directions. She tried not to look into her eyes as she gave the mare her letter.
“Why so sad dear?” asked the mare.
Scootaloo sighed. “I’m leaving Ponyville.”
“Why?”
“No pony likes me here”
“I know how you feel but that doesn't mean you have to leave Ponyville. It’s nice here. They are ruder in Canterlot or Clouds Dale. They are more accepting here.”” Do you have any friends?”
She nodded.
Derpy smiled. “They are the ones that matter. remember that.”
She nodded again. “I should get going…”
Derpy gave Scootaloo a hug. “Good luck dear!”
She nodded and waved, and soared off to the sky.

Remembering Sweetie Belle
Scootaloo was remembering her filly hood as she flew. She remembered them making fun of her blank flank the fact she couldn’t fly, and that she was behind a grade. Maybe it was silly she was leaving for an airshow, but, it wasn’t about the airshow. It was about everything piling up until now. The airshow was the last straw. she was almost 18, she was going to leave anyways. She hated how everyone treated her younger. they said she was mentally 15, not 17. It was so unfair. So what if she acted younger? Doesn't mean that everyone can treat her like a child. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle used to treat her equally, until they went to High School. It wasn’t her fault she was delayed in flying, math, reading and writing. She remembers being pushed to the ground, being called “blank flank, stupid, fake pegasus” She wiped angry tears away. Trying to get rid of the memory, but it came anyway.

“Hey Stupidloo, trying to fly again?” She stopped and stood there, staring back at them.
“Yeah, have a problem with it, punk?” her voice shook.
“Yeah we do” said another pony as they gathered around her and started punching her.
She screamed. “NO stop, please stop..”
They continued, calling her blank flank, stupid, and worse names.
Suddenly, a white filly with a pink and purple mane came to her aid with a teacher. Scootaloo, curled up in a ball, felt the punching stop. She shivered and whimpered, holding her badly wounded arm. the filly went to her and helped her go to the nurse, saying comforting words that Scootaloo wouldn't hear.

She would miss Sweetie Belle, but it was too late now. She made up her mind. There would be no going back. They probably don’t want her anyways.
Ambush
A coyote crept out of the bush with an evil grin.
“Hello ladies.” He said, stepping closer. “What a fine evening, isn’t it?”
Derpy pulled Scootaloo closer to her. “What do you want with us? Leave us alone!”
“Oh, so harsh. all I want to do is talk to you fine ladies.” He chuckled, stepping closer, in Derpy’s face.
Derpy stepped back, guarding Scootaloo as much as she could. At that moment, Rainbow Dash and Twilight came through the trees. Derpy and Scootaloo turned to look. Everyone stayed quiet. All except the coyote, who shouted,
“NOW!”
Coyotes came from all sides. surrounding Derpy and Scootaloo. Derpy stood her ground.
It all happened too fast
The coyote lunged at Derpy, Derpy kicked him in his jaw. He caught her leg and twisted it. She falls to the ground. The others attacked Rainbow Dash, breaking her wings with a loud snap. The do the same to Twilight's and she used her magic to stop them Meanwhile this happened, they got Scootaloo. She was unconscious. They bit her neck hard and she had a big wound. Twilight stopped the coyotes from dragging her away. Rainbow Dash took Scootaloo in her arms and cried.
“We have to get her to a doctor, now!”
Twilight nodded and cast a teleportation spell to the doctor. They put all of them except Twilight on a bed to get them checked. Scootaloo was still unconscious, dreaming of her life and her letters to Rainbow Dash.

The Ending of The Beginning
That was all in the past.
The rain beat down, the gloomy, gray ,sky covering the landscape like a cold, dark, blanket. All that could be heard is the rain. Other than that it was silence. The ponies huddled closely to each other, holding on to each other tightly. The rain soaked them, but they stayed. It’s been a year why did it still hurt? death is a sad thing, it makes you feel that you lost a part of you, a part of your memories. The pony just faded away, unreachable, untouchable, unhuggable, unkissable. Gone. It was too late.

the sun went down. Celestia has risen to moon tonight. She was supposed to wait! Has she forgotten? Scootaloo started to fade away.
‘I thought I always wanted to die, but I was wrong. I see that now. I have great friends,” Scootaloo said “and now, I can never see them again. I am sorry my dear friends. I was sad and lost, I thought it was best, but I was wrong. I see that now. There are many reasons to keep living, the beautiful sunshine, the peace of the night, an ice cream sundae on a hot summer day. But, I can’t have any of that now. The warm embrace of a friend, the sweet kiss of the one you love. But I can't have that anymore. I was wrong. I don’t want to die. I don’t want to go. But it’s too late now. I wish I knew that sooner. goodbye.”
She faded away, Luna reaching out to her one last time. She saw Scootaloo’s joy as she saw her mother, and ran to her. And with that, she was gone. Nothing could bring her back.

Now she visits every now and then, and she sees them cry. If only she could comfort them now.
“Don’t cry for me She says. I’m ok . Really. I’m safe and happy now. But I do miss you so much. She reaches out her arm, that passes right through them. I wish I could hold you. I miss you guys so much. But all I can do is watch. But I will watch over you, and Apple Bloom, especially you. Don’t make the same mistakes I did. Please want to live. As much as I miss you, please don’t come here. You need to live your whole life you're just a little filly, too young to die. Try to live for me please. Everyone that can hear me please. Try. To. Live. You too dear reader. Try to hold on, try to live. Don’t throw away your life. You’ll miss the simple things. The sound of your friends laughter. The feeling of a warm sweater. Being held. Being able to hold someone. Stay alive for them, they need you. Stay alive for you. You need you.”
It gets better.
