Prologue: Part 1 - The Plan
Anger. Anger was a good word to describe myself. Everyday I have felt it, it had become a companion of mine after all that we went through since my early years. Oh how I felt it grow in magnitude everyday through all of the abuse, lies, thievery, and beatings that have come my way. But nothing could compare to what I felt now as I trotted back and forth over the Canterlot cliff. How long have I been doing this? Far too long for me to stand it any longer. Where the sun once shone and radiated it's warm aura was now replaced by the dimly lit moon and the cool night air which gently blew towards me.
"Where the buck is that blasted bastard, he's going to pay for making me wait this long!" I muttered to myself, still trotting back and forth.
Stopping in front of a large boulder, raised my front hooves and brought them down upon it. Once my hooves made contact, the boulder radiated a orange aura and exploded sending bits of flaming debris all around me. I breathed heavily and looked down at my hooves to see them engulfed by a small but violently shaking orange flame. I focused on the flames, trying to calm them down and in a flicker they disappeared.
"Better not do that again." I thought. "Might attract some unwanted attention." Closing my eyes, I began to try to control my breathing to bring it back to normal. It didn't work out though after a couple of seconds. I found myself again replaying images of all the horrors that have happened to me. I tried to push these thoughts away but to no avail they just kept on coming. My breathing began to pick up again and I felt my teeth clench tightly. Slowly I felt the hooves become warmer and warmer no doubt ready to burst to flames in any minute.
"My my, that little practice of yours isn't working out for you is it Nightfire?"
Shocked to hear another voice from behind me, I bolted open my eyes and turned to face the unknown pony. Crouching in my battle stance flames immediately erupted from my hooves and body, covering every inch. With the light radiating from my flames I was able to see a tall unicorn stallion which had a light brown coat and a messy coal black mane. Moving to his face I saw crazed teal eyes just staring at me and a wide grin plastered in his face that I knew all too well.
"Your late Dawn." I growled as the flames began dying away.
"hmm hmm, well maybe you should try to sneaking in four hundred ponies into this god forsaken place." he chuckled. "You should see how many guards are on patrol.
"I thought you should have known their tight security around here since your were the one who created this ridiculous plan." I replied. "I take it then that you have everyone in position."
"Of course their in position, you saying that my plan won't work!" He suddenly yelled, pulling his face close up to mine. His face then snapped back to the mad grin he had before. "Oh I'm terribly sorry about that. Did I scare you?"
I pulled back at the sudden encounter and face hoofed. "Of all the comrades Hurricane Rush could have put me with, why does it have to be this psycho." I muttered under my breath.
"hmm, what was that?"
"Nothing Dawn." I said looking back at him. "So since your here I guess the meeting is ready."
Dawn's grin soon became wider as he violently shook his head up and down. "Yes, the old man is ready for us." He said stopping his head. "Just let me conjure the teleportation spell real quick." Dawn's horn began to glow a faint shade of purple which soon shot a beam at where we were standing. A large circular shape erupted on the floor and in the center was the image of a large round wooden table with six hooded figures sitting around it. Dawn walked over to the portal preparing to dive in but gave a sudden halt and looked back at me.
"Oh how rude of me." He said raising a hoof at the portal. "Bitches first."
"Buck you." I said, turning my body to buck him with my rear legs. There was the satisfying sound of the wind being blown out of him and then the sound of him laughing maniacally as he fell through the portal. Looking down I saw him land with a thud on the table and the six hooded figures jumped in shock. Seeing that the portal was stable enough, I jumped in and landed on top of Dawn, crushing the table he landed on. I looked over at the six figures around me and saw that the only visible feature I could make out from any of them was their glowing eyes which came through the shadows of their cloaks.
"Well what are you guys waiting for?" I asked. "Continue."
"Oh yes please go on and tell the others of my wondrous plan." Came the croaking voice of Dawn from under me.
All the cloak figures turned there heads and faced a single direction. Turning my head to follow their gaze, I saw a gruff grey coated pegasus pony with a snow white mane standing across the room with a large map behind him. He seemed all but amused for Dawn's and I sudden entrance with his face seemingly becoming distorted as if pondering for the right emotion.
"Dawn, Rookie take your seats." He stuttered in his anger.
"Sure thing your majesty." Dawn said regaining his voice. Getting up I walked over and took my place among the others which Dawn soon followed.
"Now as I was saying, all of you will split into groups of two and attack specific places around the palace." Hurricane said striding back and forth. "Team A will consist of the pegasus ponies who are to disable the defense towers around the castle." "Team B will be the unicorns, your job is to give support fire for the Team C so they can start breaking down the gates.
Hurricane stopped and looked around to see if we were paying attention. Seeing that we all were he continued the debriefing.
"Team C, that will be Dawn and you Rookie, will lead are main battalion after the walls have been broken. You are to push your way all the way through to the castle while we give you cover from the sky and air." With that he stopped and turned to face us.
"Gentlemen today their rule falls, today we gain riches that we could only dream of," He turned to face three ponies of our left to say that and continued. "We shall have the power that we crave," moving his head to face the three ponies on our right. "and, we shall get our revenge for all the pain and suffering that our so called rulers have put upon us."With those said he turned to face a twitching Dawn and me trying to keep my face serious. "You are all dismissed."
With that said everyone got up and began to walk out.
"Rookie, stay back for a minute, I gotta talk to you." Came the voice of Hurricane.
I gave a little sigh and walked over to Hurricane keeping my composure straight and my head up.
"No need for the formalism son, I just want to talk." Hearing that I allowed my shoulders to slump and brought my head down slightly. Hurricane just looked at me as if scanning me for something.
"You ready for this Rookie?" He asked. "You and Dawn have the biggest part in this entire operation and I'm gonna tell you now, it ain't gonna be easy."
"Sir, I am more than ready to tackle this." I said. "I have waited too long to get back at these fat pigs and I'm not backing out now."
Hurricane just smiled and looked back at me. "Son you joined just only five months ago and yet your already one of the top ranking commanders, but either way I don't need anypony to ruin this operation. He said, slightly raising his voice. "We have spent to much time and energy on this so you tell me right now that you are gonna go through with this or I'm gonna get somepony else who will."
I couldn't help but give a little laugh. This was always the same reaction I got from the other high ranking officers when I joined their little resistance. Every time they just doubted me for being the new guy but every time I would prove them wrong by passing all their training exercises in just a mere couple of days to assassinating important officials that tried to stop us who in fact once worked here at Canterlot. Even with all the successes I had in my reputation here, they still doubted me and it only fueled me with rage at the fact that they still didn't acknowledge me yet.
"Sir, with all the training I have passed and all the successful missions I've had in those past few months I think I have proven myself enough that I am well prepared to carry out this operation," Once said I turned and began out the door. "and like the rest of those clowns you should know..."
The flames again erupted from me and covered my entire body. After a few seconds the flames died away all except for my mane and tail which were still on fire. Not just that but my body and wings were now covered in a obsidian like armor which had cracks running along it in stream like paths. These cracks were soon filled with a lava like substance giving slowly streaming like small rivers along my body. Darkness shrouded my head and my vision darkened. Steadily the shadows took form of a helmet around my head with just a small visor for me to look out of. With the transformation done I turned my head to face him.
"Never to doubt me."
