The sun rose in the farmland of Sweet Apple Acres. As usual, Applejack woke up bright and early, to make breakfast for the entire Apple family. Apple Bloom, woke up from the smell of farm fresh eggs and pancakes coming from the kitchen. She straightened her mane ribbon, and went downstairs.
"Good morning, little sis", Applejack greeted her sister politely. Applejack, couldn't help but notice that there was something wrong with her sister. Her happy face was now a look of heartbroken sadness. Her mane was not her usual look it was drooping from her face and it looked deflated. And her beautiful orange and red eyes looked full of sorrow and were bloodshot. From what Applejack can tell, Apple Bloom was crying in her sleep last night she must have had a nightmare about something awful.
"Apple Bloom, what's the matter?" Apple Bloom, lifted her head, to look straight at her big sister who's green eyes were full of concern.
She sniffled a bit and said, "Applejack, I had an terrible dream."
Apple Bloom explained that last night she had a dream where she was playing jump rope with Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo when Diamond Tiara and Sliver Spoon teased her for being the only member of the Apple family who lives in Ponyville who doesn't have a cutie mark. Then all of a sudden Diamond Tiara and Sliver Spoon called her 'Not a special somepony' over and over again.
And what's even worse they said that Applejack would abandon her because she can't even do anything right with apples. Applejack, shocked by the whole thing, knew exactly what to say. "Sugar Cube have I ever told you about the day you were born?" Apple Bloom shook her head. "Well then, I can tell y'all everything, even the special promise I made when you were just a baby." Applejack went to the bookshelf, and pulled out a photo album that read Apple Memories and went to the living room where Apple Bloom waited on the couch.
"You see it all started right after I got my cutie mark after I knew that my true destiny was being at my own home in Ponyville.
I really wondered what it would be like to raise a baby brother or sister. Mama and Daddy came home one day and told me that I was gonna become a big sister. I was so excited I helped everypony out to make preparations for the little brother or sister I was about to have. Many months went by and Mama was about to have the baby. I waited impatiently in the waiting room. Then Daddy told me to come in, and that's when I saw you.
Mama told me that your name was Apple Bloom. To me, it was love at first sight. A few months went by, Mama and Daddy told me and Big Mac that they would be going away for a while and that they would be back in a few weeks. Daddy gave Big Mac his collar and Mama gave me her hat and she also gave you a pink ribbon and tied it on your mane.
After they left I was crying. Soon the weeks turned into months, and somepony came to our house, and said that Mama and Daddy are lost deep in the Everfree Forest but they were never found.
I thought about you. You were crying and I said, 'Don't worry Apple Bloom, I'll be here for you no matter what. I promise.' And as you know an Apple like me never breaks a promise."
Apple Bloom was crying tears of joy and she said "I love you so much Applejack and now that I know how special I am to you. I'll always make sure to remember everything you've done for me." Apple Bloom hugged Applejack tightly who hugged her right back. Applejack always did her best to remind Apple Bloom that she's not as different as she thought and that she was not alone.
And this time she had really proved that no matter what happens she would always be there to be strong for the both of them and the entire Apple Family. She had never did once let Apple Bloom down. But little did Apple Bloom know that her parents would always think of her because years later they did come back. Apple Bloom, Applejack, and Granny Smith and Big Macintosh had the real reunion that they always wanted.
Apple Cider and Apple Spice explained of how they survived in the deepest darkest part of the forest for so many years until they had finally decided to come back home. But Applejack will always watch out for her little sister just like she promised. Apple Bloom feeling very confident remembered that she did a good job of rebuilding the Cutie Mark Crusaders clubhouse and wondered if she can rebuild or build other things.
She remembered that there was a piece of property at the farm that hasn't been build even once. So Apple Bloom grabbed some wood, tolls, and paints from the barn. She went to the little area of the farm where the sign said Property Under Construction. She dug out the tools from the toolbox and began her work. First she built a strong foundation for the project. then she cut the wood and banged around the foundation after the cement had dried.
She worked for a week until finally after giving her new apple pie shop a paint job, Apple Bloom smiled confidently and said to herself, I really do have a knack for building things. Then a flash appeared on her flank, and a cutie mark in a shape of an apple shaped store appeared. Apple Bloom hurried to the house and said, "Applejack I finally got my cutie mark." Applejack looked at her sister and smiled. She also gave her little sister a hug and said, "I'm proud of you Apple Bloom." Applejack and Apple Bloom looked at each other in silence for a long time until Apple Bloom said, "But what about my friends and my family? What they still make fun of me Diamond Tiara and Sliver Spoon? What if I'll have to move out away from you?"
Applejack smiled and said "Apple Bloom, we're sisters and sisters have to stick together no matter what. Promise me you'll remember that."
Apple Bloom smiled and said "I promise Applejack."
Applejack and Apple Bloom held each other tightly as if never wanting to let go. The two finally broke out of their embrace and went upstairs to bed. Apple Bloom will have a better night's sleep this time.
