The Soft glow of crystals
Desolate towers; forest of a city, long dead, ravaged by the kleptomanic flames;
mounting upon the side of a darkened peak, twisting in the turmoil of the world around it, held to destruction; a embrace upon the drowning being; the base of this reality torn, ripped asunder by the touch of the magic, laying a piercing fog upon the depths of this land; lays around this city;
Thus beneath this city, the deepest caverns lie; shadowing in there embrace, thus the survivors of this crawled; under the eye of the storm; the caverns lit by the soft glow of crystals studding the walls; caverns stretching endlessly before them; they settled, resigned.
The tunnels give many secrets, a great many mystery; lights flashing in tunnels long dead, tunnels in caverns in holes, things that go bump in the night; the past throwing shadows after its passing, echo through these unassuming tunnels; stretching endlessly; the force cloaking the world above, penetrating the earth’s depths responsible for some; a mystery unto themselves others.
So did they make there lives; scraps of the old world carried with them; their leaders, saviours, lost to the encompassing force assaulting there world, once great magic fuelling the storm;
So did there lives, there philosophy`s split; branching in the soft glow of the ever present walls;
The foals shifted on there seats; boulders and crystals, empty crates littering the ground,
the mare, sitting before them wrapped in a cloak; caked in dirt, she continued "The original survivors have long since passed; generations since the apocalypse came to its beginning.
We know not if there are any survivors out side our mountain, or any escape from this magic. Discord tries his best, but still the magic endures."
"How would you know so much of what happened?" asked a foal, earnest eyes gleaming at the mare. The adults behind them halted there moments, halting packing there homes, demure tents, for the travel to there next spot of rest, turned there heads, curious to the answer.
"I came to this world through a magical artefact long ago; new to the world, I found myself on a train, heading somewhere. The magic which so defiled the world twisted much of of the magic already existing; giving me no end to my life, not from age; while it still holds this world."
"Did you know Luna and Celesta?" another foal asked
"Not personally, but I did see them on parades around the old cities"
"What where they like?"
So did the questions continue; foal enraptured by her words, adults listening to the descriptions of the former world; to soon, however, did the questions end; the caravan continuing on its journey, the mare walking in the opposite direction, waving behind her, as she continued her quest;
'To the next artefact' thought she; guided by gut feeling; and Discords guidance;
her quest, of ending the blight; finding the artefacts, needed by Discord, her means;
a lock of hair, pink in colour, fell in front of her eyes; lifting a hoof to brush in away, a chain disengaged from the folds of her cloak; lifting it, she gazed upon it; remembering the dull grey mare who gave it to her; the sadness in her eyes.
'For the world; for siblings lost'
So did she continue through the tunnels, stretching endlessly before her, lit by the soft glow of crystals.
