Soarshine complained. The 5-year-old pegasus HATED shopping and that wasn't going to change anytime soon.
Her mother, Skywhirl, picked up Soarshine with her mouth, and trotted out the door. Most of the time Soarshine kept her wings open. They were unusually large, even for a daughter of two Wonderbolts. Her passion was flying. She flew before she walked.
It was her life.
They climbed into the taxi. The driver tipped his hat for awhile and soon Skywhirl got that she was supposed to put bits in. She did, and the driver sped them off. Soarshine had her wing out the window to catch the breeze. Oh, how she longed to fly right then.
They had been driving for some time now. Busy traffic was everywhere. It was hard to hear yourself think as taxis and regular carriages flew past in such speed and force. Soarshine still had her wing out the window. Her mother yelled at her to pull it out of there but nopony was heard through the noise. Suddenly a speedy carriage was in the wrong lane. They came very close to hitting the taxi, but were stopped by something else. An outstretched wing.
Soarshine screeched in pain. Blood and feathers were everywhere. The details were horrifying.
Soarshine was rushed to the hospital by air taxi. Her feathers were gone from her wing except for the top of it. She could barely move, the shock she was in. Her wing had to be clipped. And with only one wing, she would never fly again. Her dream of becoming a Wonderbolt like her parents was shattered.
