Chapters Tracking down an escapee (revised)
It is the year 2355 and the newly constructed starship the E.N.S. Wonderbolt is approaching a space station as the ship approaches the pilot opened a communication channel and says.
“Orbital station this is the Wonderbolt requesting clearance for docking” a moment later they receive a response “Wonderbolt you are cleared to dock proceed to platform 31 alpha.”
Once the ship is docked the testing crew disembarks and the leader a unicorn stallion with a tan coat and a light orange mane and a Pegasus shaped ship. Its wings were up against a starry background for a cutie mark. Made his way down a corridor to an office pressing a button on the side a voice said.
“Enter.”
The stallion entered and walked up to a desk where a dark blue alicorn sat he saluted and said “greetings Admiral Luna.” As he levitated out of his saddlebag a small electronic tablet “here is the report on the Wonderbolt you requested.”
Luna looked up and took the tablet in an aura of blue magic then said.“Thank you, Cmdr. dismissed.”
The stallion saluted and left Luna looked at the tablet. It read E.N.C. report, date 2355-2-8. E.N.S. Wonderbolt engine tests and speed trials have been completed. Top speed velocity 10.5 awaiting Confederation database upload and weapons testing. Signed Cmdr. Starbolt . Luna smiled and thought of the ideal candidates for this new ship as the Wonderbolt sat in a Confederation docking station the data files were uploaded to the ships main computer core. After the upload was complete the computer was brought online and the weapons systems were ready to be tested. A weapons test crew was sent to the ship via shuttle. As the shuttle approached the ship came into view it looked like a giant light blue Pegasus. Its legs were tucked under its body its neck was at a 45ᴼ angle the wings were folded against the body. Around the neck was what looked like a necklace with a huge multi ring jewel in the middle on the chest. The registry designation ENF-2401 ran down both side of the neck as the shuttle approached the flank they saw a cutie mark a giant golden horse shoe. As they approached the cutie mark split as doors opened horizontally revealing a shuttle bay. Once the shuttle landed a crimson Pegasus mare with a black mane stepped off the shuttle she found her way to the main bridge as she exited the lift she met 3 other ponies. A unicorn mare, a Pegasus and Earth pony stallion.
She said “hello every pony I am Cmdr. Thunder Breaker.”
The unicorn said “I am Lt. Cmdr. Cantor” looking to the right “this is Lt. Lurtia then to the left “Lt. Asteria.”
Thunder said “nice to meet all of you are we ready?”
They all nodded and Lurtia said “we are to proceed to test point alpha and rendezvous with the Crusader.”
Thunder said “proceed to the coordinate’s velocity 2.5.”
Cantor nodded and engaged the engines. The ships wings extended outwards then slanted back 45ᴼ and the ship moved forward. When they arrived they saw a ship in the shape of an Earth pony the Wonderbolt opened a communication channel.
The view screen lite up and an Earth pony stallion with a turquoise coat and a sandy blonde mane appeared he said “greetings I am Capitan Grounder of the testing ship Crusader."
Thunder Breaker introduced herself and crew “we are ready to begin the weapons and shields tests.”
Grounder said “let’s begin with weapons first the lasers.”
The crusader took a position at a distance of 161 meters and launched 2 10x10 meter cubical testing targets in the direction of the Wonderbolt.
Thunder Breaker said “forward weapons tracking target tracking test lock and fire when ready.”
The left ear rotated 180ᴼ as it followed one of the targets Lurtia said “target lock nominal.”
Thunder said “fire”
The ear it shot out 3 beams. One from the top and 2 from bottom the 3 beams converged into one striking the target and destroying it. As the other test projectile passed around to the other side the right ear repeated the procedure destroying the target.
The Crusader deployed 4 projectiles Thunder said “forward weapons torpedo test”
The targets passed by the right side as the right leg rotated 180ᴼ Lurtia said “target lock nominal.”
Thunder said “fire.”
A torpedo came out of the hoof striking and destroying the target the procedure was repeated for the 2nd target as it passed near the aft section. The same procedures were repeated for the aft weapons.
Thunder contacted the Crusader “weapons testing successful,”
Grounder said “good now let’s test the shields.”
A small cylindrical device emerged from the Crusader. The Wonderbolt raised its shields
Grounder said “ok let’s start with setting 1.”
The device moved around the ship firing a Teal beam at the front and back and sides of the ship the shields blocked the beam and dispersed its energy.
They left an audio channel open and Lurtia said “thermal dissipation rate within normal parameters.”
Grounder said “ok prepare for setting 2.”
The device fired again and the shields dispersed to the energy Lurtia gave the same status report.
The device fired and the same thing happened Grounder said “prepare for maximum setting.”
The device came to the front of the ship and fired time the shields absorbed the energy and dispersed the energy inside the Wonderbolt the ship shook shaking the crew causing them lurch.
Thunder asked “how did the shields hold?”
Lurtia replied “shields holding no drain in power thermal dissipation rate within normal parameters.” After pressing a few buttons said “the shields can withstand several blasts at that setting before the generators experience thermal overload.
Thunder smiled “activated the view screen Grounder appeared on the screen.
Thunder Breaker said “shield test successful.
Grounder said “excellent take the ship to station Equestria I will contact Admiral Celestia and inform her that the ship is ready to receive a crew.”
Thunder nodded as the screen went blank. Turning to Asteria she said “set course for station Equestria velocity 3.”
The ship extended its wings and engaged its engines and the Crusader left as well. A short time later the Wonderbolt came to the station Equestria and docked and the testing crew disembarked.
At the same time on the station a lavender unicorn mare was just coming on duty and was on her way to her work station in the science department. As she begins her shift a grey Pegasus with a blonde mane and tale enters the department. She passes a tablet to the commander who looked at it nodded then points in the direction of the unicorn.
She watches as the Pegasus came up to her and said “Cmdr. Twilight Sparkle?”
Twilight looks up “yes?”
The Pegasus passes her a tablet and said “Admiral Celestia wishes to speak with you right away.”
Twilight nods and goes to a console and presses a button. Admiral Celestia appears on the screen.
Twilight bows and says “greetings Admiral Celestia.”
As Twilight rises up from her bow Celestia says “Twilight it is good to see you again I have news I think you will like, in honor of your bravery on the Seabreeze and your amazing prowess in the art of magic. I am placing you in command of the Confederation’s newest starship the Wonderbolt.”
Twilight’s eyes lit up “The Wonderbolt the new quantum class starship?”
Celestia nodded then said “it should be arriving about now” then with a slight smile continued “I hereby promote you to the rank of Capitan. A shuttle will be taking you to the ship at 13:20 hours.”
Twilight slightly stunned said “wow thank you.”
She bowed as the screen went blank. She smiled then glanced over at a clock it read 13:15 she thought I better get moving she returned to her station picked up her saddle bags placed the tablet inside and left for the shuttle bay. As she walked along she pulled out the tablet and held the tablet in a purple aura it didn’t say much just her orders to report for command of the Wonderbolt. Her mind began to drift she thought about how it seemed like only yesterday she was at the academy. Where she met some of the best friends she ever hoped for and she hoped she would see them again. But with the threats from the Griffin and Changing Empires and a need for more captains it seemed unlikely. She sighed but at the same time felt so excited to be in command of her own ship at the age of 20. Just a few years ago there wasn’t any way they would give command of a quantum class ship to any pony so young. Such things were reserved for the most experienced ponies. When she arrived at the shuttle bay she met a Pegasus mare with a cyan coat and a silver mane she had a horseshoe inside a yellow crescent cutie mark.
She said “greetings you must be Cmdr. Twilight Sparkle I am Lt Fleet Foot I am here to escort you to the Wonderbolt “are you ready?”
Twilight nodded as they boarded a shuttle and left the bay Twilight looked out the window and could see the station below. The interior lights illuminated most of the windows which was a sharp contrast to the blackness of space. The sun illuminated it from behind the station giving it a glistening effect that was aesthetically pleasing. She had seen the station several times before and it was always a nice site. Her eyes followed the 3 horizontal rings and the tubes that connected them together. As the shuttle rose upwards to the docking station she could see a large hollow cube with a ship inside.
Fleet foot said “you’re lucky you get to command a quantum class starship.”
Twilight smiled and said “I’m honored to have my own ship but I did not think it would be so soon.”
As the ship came into view they noticed it looked like a giant Pegasus Twilight thought Rainbow Dash would find this amusing and maybe even say something snarky. She saw the lettering on the ship it read ENF-2401 she remembered being told what the designation stood for. The letters E.N.F. stood for Equestrian Naval Fleet and the 2401 was its designation number.
Fleet foot interrupted the unicorn’s thoughts when she said “oh by the way I almost forgot to tell you once you’re aboard there is a message waiting for you from Vice Admiral Cadence on the bridge and your crew will be joining you shortly.”
As the shuttle approached the flank of the giant Pegasus the cutie mark separated as the doors opened horizontally once the shuttle landed Twilight disembarked.
Fleet Foot said “I wish I could stay and see the ship but I must return to the station.”
Twilight nodded as the shuttle door closed she watched as it lifted off the floor and left the bay passing through an energy field afterwards the bay doors closed. Looking around she saw other ponies moving about but none she knew. She sighed as she walked along the corridors stopping periodically to ask the computer for directions.
She soon came to a lift as the doors opened she stepped inside and said “bridge” the lift activated and began to move.
A few seconds later the lift stopped and the doors opened and she entered the bridge as she exited the lift the doors closed she looked around it was a large open space. Looking to the left she saw a huge screen. On the left side there was a cushion and a slightly elevated interface console. Another one just like it was on the right behind them were 3 cushions with small interface terminals with a swivel for use on the right or left side. The center one was slightly elevated. There was one feature that caught her attention it was located behind the pilot and navigation consoles and in front of the 3 cushions. It was in a circular design embedded into the floor it consisted of 3 rings in center ring there were 6 slots. A diamond, apple, balloon, butterfly and lightning bolt in the center ring was a star. In front of each of the outermost ring were 2 indentations about the size of a hoof all around for a total of 12 slots. She remembered these markings were the representations of the achievements of harmony. She remembered hearing about them there were 6 kindness, laughter, generosity, honesty, loyalty and magic. As she walked around she came to a door that opened to a private room it was nice there was a low set table and a cushion and a window to look out of. She walked up to the window but all she could see were the walls of the docking station. On the table there she saw a console and a card lying next to it. She levitated the card and inserted it into a slot on the counsel. The screen lit up and a golden colored horse shoe appeared the text Equestrian Confederation across the middle of it. Then a pink alicorn with a lavender, red and yellow mane appeared Twilight smiled she recognized the pony it was Vice Admiral Cadence.
Cadence and said “greeting Capitan Twilight if you are seeing this then you’re on board your ship and congratulations on your promotion. The Wonderbolt is the newest in ship designs. You may have noticed the design in the center of the bridge it’s not just for aesthetics. It is part of the deflector of harmony to activate it each bearer places their achievement into its slot. Then places their hooves into the indentations in front of the achievement this will activate the deflector. Now for your mission once your crew arrives you are to go the Kaldariar system. I cannot tell you more over open channels. Once there you are to rendezvous with the Canterlot and meet with Capitan Shining Armor. He will apprise you of the situation Cadence out.”
Twilight smiled just then the door beeper sounded. Twilight said “come in.”
The door opened and a light orange mare with a dark orange mane came in she had 3 carrots for a cutie mark she said “Capitan Twilight your crew has arrived.”
Twilight looked up and said “thank you.”
The mare saluted and left Twilight gathered herself together and left the room to meet her new crew. She stepped out of the room suddenly a bang sound fills the air followed by a party horn and confetti is flying everywhere.
She jumped slightly as 5 ponies all shout in unison “SURPIRSE!”
Twilight can’t believe it her crew was her friends from the Academy! Lt Cmdr. Pinky Pie, Cmdr. Rainbow Dash, Lt. Rarity, Lt Cmdr. Fluttershy, Lt. Applejack and ensign Apple Bloom. After greetings and hugs were exchanged Twilight briefed them on their mission.
“We are to going the Kaldariar system once there we are to rendezvous with the Canterlot and Capitan Shining armor he will give us more information. Vice Admiral Cadence did not want to elaborate over the communication channels.”
With a smile she said “alright every pony take your stations and let’s get underway.”
After the 7 ponies took their positions Twilight said “Apple Bloom set course for the Kaldariar system velocity 7.2.”
Pressing a button ship begin to move forward once it cleared the station she engaged the engines the folded wings spread out and moved back to a 45° angle then the engines engaged.
Once they were under way Apple Bloom said “we will reach the Kaldariar system in 3 hrs. 22 min.
Twilight nodded when they arrived at their destination a ship came up to them it was similar to theirs the lettering read ECS Canterlot ENF-2256.
Applejack said “message coming from the Canterlot Capitan shining Armor standing by.”
Twilight said “on viewer.”
The screen activated and Shining Armor was on the screen he smiled and said “TWILIE it’s good to see you again.”
Twilight said “it’s good to see you too I heard you have information for me.”
Shining Armor nodded and said “yes I was ordered to deliver it to you directly.”
Twilight nodded as the screen went blank pressing a button she said “Twilight to transportation chief.”
A voice replied “yes dear Zacora here.”
Twilight said “prepare to bring Shining Armor on board.”
Then she pressed another button Twilight to security.”
A small voice came through “security Spike here.”
Twilight said Shining Armor is coming aboard when he arrives escort him to the bridge.”
Spike replied “I’m on my way there.”
He entered the transportation room as a tube descended a hum was heard as Shining Armor appeared in the tube. As it rose he was met by the young dragon and 2 phillies.
The dragon said “welcome aboard the Wonderbolt I am Spike chief of security. These are my officers Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo.
The 2 phillies nodded in unison the 3 lead their guest to the bridge as the doors opened Shining Armor stepped out looked around when saw the unicorn captain and shouted excitedly “Twilie!”
They ran to each other and embraced Shining Armor said “congratulations on your promotion” Twilight said “thank you I am happy to be here I hope to do well.”
Shining said “I have orders hoof delivered to me by Admiral Celestia I was told to deliver them to you directly.”
Twilight nodded in understanding and said “senior officers assemble in the lounge Apple Bloom you have the bridge."
As they entered the room they walked up to a table in the center with 12 cushions the 7 assembled 6 sat down sat down. Shining Armor walked over to a screen and levitated a small rectangular item from his Saddlebag. Then placed it into a slot next to a screen the screen lit up. A golden colored horse shoe appeared the text Equestrian Confederation across the middle of it then Admiral Celestia appeared and began to speak.
“Greetings Capitan Twilight and crew and sure you’re wondering about the secrecy. It simply comes down to this the master of chaos Discord has escaped from his prison on the planet Syreen.”
Every pony gasped Celestia continued.
“The Griffin and Changing empires may try to form an alliance with him if that happens they will spread chaos across the galaxy and then the universe. You and your friends must use the achievements of harmony to stop him. I arranged for all of you to be together on the Wonderbolt because each of you bears one of the achievements of harmony. Go to planet Syreen and see if you can find out where Discord has gone or may be going. Also see if you can learn why Syreenian star has gone supernova. All we know so far it did but we don’t know why I want you to investigate. Also in the event you run into any problems the ship is equipped with something called the electromagnetic distortion shield it hides a ship. It is not good for protection but it will hide your ship from detection. Good luck my little ponies the fate of the galaxy is in your hooves Celestia out.”
The screen went blank Shining Armor said “when the Syreenian star went super nova the blast produced a shockwave that devastated the planet.”
Twilight said asked “what about the other planets?”
Shining said “long range detection indicates they are still intact =”
Twilight said “that doesn’t make any sense a supernova explosion usually destroys the entire solar system and everything within a 1.4 light year radius.”
Shining pressed a button and a star chart appeared and a small location was highlighted. The text read planet Syreen it was the 8th planet of 11.
Rainbow Dash said “wait that’s inside Griffon space isn’t it?”
Shining Armor looked at it and said “yes sort of the planets orbit takes it in and out of their space it will enter their space in 4 months.
Shining Armor smiled then said “I have to return to my ship and prepare let me know when you’re ready to depart I will meet you at planet Syreen near the no travel zone. If we get into trouble I will give you support as best I can. But the Canterlot is a Polaris class star ship our weaponry is limited.”
He then left to return to his ship once outside the lounge Spike and Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo
Twilight said “any questions? No, every pony follow me to the center of the bridge I want to show you something.”
She led them to the bridge and the design on the floor then proceeded to explain the deflector of harmony and how it worked they looked at it and nodded then they took their stations.
Twilight said “contact Shining Armor.”
Applejack said “Shining Armor standing by.”
Twilight said “on viewer.”
The screen came on and Shining Armor appeared Twilight said “we are ready to depart.”
Shining Armor said “we will meet you there our top speed is velocity 7.”
Twilight said “see you there.”
The screen turned off.
Rainbow Dash said “ensign set course for the planet Syreen velocity 4.”
Apple Bloom nodded and pressed a few buttons and the ships wings extended outwards then slanted back 45ᴼ and the ship moved. Every pony on board felt the mass acceleration as a slight nudge.
Apple Bloom said “time to destination 23.6 hours.”
Twilight smiled and said “we do not know what we will be facing when we arrive.”
Just then a light on the small console near Twilight’s seat blinked she walked over to the small screen and pressed a button she read the text and smiled.
“Pinkie has just informed me there is a party tonight at 19:30 hours in deck 12 upper every pony is invited.”
They looked around and there was Pinkie who jumped up and down “woo hoo.”
Later that evening at 19:30 hours Twilight went to deck 12 upper the doors opened and they saw streamers everywhere. Near the 2 windows was a band of 6 ponies they were playing various interments. They were very well known players Carrot Top, Vinyl Scratch, Lyra Heartstrings, Bon-Bon, Derpy Hooves and Octavia Melody. They were playing an upbeat tune and most of the ponies in the room were dancing. Looking over she saw her 5 friends gathered around a table each was exited the other was a bearer of an achievement of harmony as Twilight sat down.
Pinky was so excited she asked how did you get your achievements huh-huh-huh?”
Applejack volunteered to go first “I received mine when I was helpin’ to negotiate a treaty between the Centaurs and the Kornoptorite’s. The 2 factions were on the verge of war they both knew a war would devastate their home worlds. So they came to the Confederation in the hopes of resolving the issue. I was selected to oversee the negotiations I reassured them that all their needs and requests were met. When an arms dealer seeing potential profits from selling weapons to bith sides vanish tried to sabotage the negotiations. I reassured them when they had any doubts. We found and captured the dealer to show their appreciation they aked me to witness the signing of the treaties. Afterwards I received the achievement of honesty and was awarded a metal of diplomacy.
Fluttershy was next “I received mine when I was stationed on the planet Nimbus. I was on patrol when a storm came up suddenly a small Griffin cruiser flew into a thundercloud and was struck by lightning. The ship crashed and I rescued the pilot, the ship was severely damaged and the pilot was badly hurt. I volunteered to personally oversee all his needs were met. After he recovered he was allowed to return home he promised to help improve relations between the Confederation and the empire.” She smiled and continued “we still write to each other that was how I received the achievement of kindness.”
Pinkie went next “I received mine when I was serving on the Breezie. We were passing through an asteroid field in the Pentar system when a computer malfunction caused our shields to go down. We were almost through when an asteroid 10 meters in diameter slammed into the ship. Causing it to tumble the impact damaged the engines and navigational systems and the communications systems. We were adrift and tried to restore what we could. But before we could restore any system we were caught in the gravitational pull of the planet Theah. Thankfully the maneuvering thrusters were not damaged we managed to level our decent. When the ship impacted and was severely damaged thankfully our injuries were minimal. The planet was habitable and we had plenty of food and supplies. We managed to get the transmitter operational and sent out a distress signal several weeks later a rescue ship found us. I kept every pony happy and hopeful by making them laugh and keeping them entertained after we were rescued I received the achievement of laughter.”
Then it was Rarity’s turn “on date 2352-8-4 I was working with a charitable group who was providing relief to the disaster ravaged planet Imorah. When they ran out of food and clothing I donated food and clothing from my own personal supply. I also remained on the planet to assist in the distribution and I also taught some Imorahan’s the art of textiles.” She smiled “they are fast learners they passed on their skills to others. Soon we not only met our quota but exceeded it they now are the leading exporters of textiles. After the relief effort was finished I was awarded the achievement of generosity.” She smiled “amazing how one simple act can blossom into something wonderful.”
Rainbow Dash was next ro speak “I got mine when I was serving on the Everfree we were in the Bornarian sector we were traveling along a common travel route. When the ship was disabled by an electrostatic pulse mine it was placed there by a Razbojnik ship. We were boarded they lined us up and gave us a choice. Either we join them and renounce our allegiance to the Confederation or be placed into a pod and be jettisoned into space. They said we would die before any pony found us. Only the Capitan and I refused they promised every pony everything they could ever want and more. Both the Capitan and I tried to warn them the offer was a ruse and they would only sell them into slavery or worse. After refusing their offer They commandeered the ship placed us into a pod and sent us off into space. We watched as trhe ship accelerated and disappeared. We were found and recued several hours later by a passing Centaurian cargo ship. Once we returned to the Confederation I was promoted me to rank of Cmdr. and was awarded the achievement of loyalty.” She looked down and said softly. “The Capitan was so distraught over the loss of her ship and crew she resigned from the Equestrian navy and faded into obscurity. Last I heard she took up a life far away from the Confederation.” A sense of sadness could be seen on Rainbow’s face and in her eyes.
They all turned to Twilight she took a deep breath and began her story” I received mine 2 years ago I was serving on the Seabreeze I was the only unicorn on the ship. The crew consisted of Earth ponies and pegasi every pony was nice I even made a few friends. Then one day I was in the engine room assisting with a power conduit refit. When suddenly the ship was attacked by a Changeling imperial cruiser the energy blasts overloaded the shield generators. After the shields fell another blast struck rocked the ship the engines were severely damaged were going critical. The ejection mechanism was severely damaged and the core could not be ejected. It was on the verve of collapsing and destroying the ship. I ordered everyone to move out of the way used my magic as smoke and steam filled the room. The computer kept announcing a countdown to meltdown I enveloped the core in an aura and it vanished in a flash. I was overwhelmed by the smoke and collapsed I awoke several hours later in the medical facility. I was visited by the ships Capitan I asked what happened? The Capitan said after I successfully teleported the core to the underside of the Changeling cruiser and it exploded. The explosion produced a shock wave that destroyed the ship. I was told if I had not acted they would not be there.” Twilight smiled and said softly “it was nothing special I was just glad I was able to help. After the ship returned to a space dock I was awarded the achievement of magic.”
Later that evening as the party died down Twilight walked over to the bar and was greeted by an elderly green mare with a silver mane asked “what would you like to drink?”
Twilight smiled and said “one apple carrot tonic” the mare nodded and mixed the drink and served it. Twilight thanked her and levitated the drink over to a table next to a window and sat down on a cushion watching the stars streak past.
She sighed just then Applejack came up and asked “mind if I join ya?”
Twilight smiled and said “not at all.”
They both looked out the window.
Applejack said “what do ya reckon the Griffins or Changelings want with the master of chaos?”
Twilight said “I’m not sure I just hope that we can find him before he spreads chaos thought the galaxy but there is one thing I do not understand.”
Applejack asked “what’s that?”
Twilight said “something I heard during the briefing when I was a cadet at the academy I did a research paper on the Syreenian star system the 4th planet had a 90ᴼ orbit to the others.”
Applejack was confused “huh?”
Twilight levitated the 2 drinks on the table demonstrated the different orbits. Applejack nodded in understanding Twilight smiled and continued “but the concern I have is the star it was not only middle aged but it was not massive enough to go supernova I think someone sabotaged it.”
Applejack arched an eyebrow “have you spoken to Admiral Celestia or Admiral Luna?”
Twilight shook her head “no not yet not until I am absolutely sure I know how crazy it must sound.”
Applejack agreed “so what you’re sayin’ is someone released Discord?”
Twilight sighed “I’m not sure when we arrive I hope to find out if I’m right."
Applejack nodded in agreement then said “its late I’m goin to my quarters you should do the same.”
Twilight looked up and nodded and they left. They went to the lift and Twilight said “deck 4”
Applejack said “deck 7.”
The lift hummed for a moment them the doors opened Applejack said “goodnight.”
Twilight replied “goodnight.”
She watched as Applejack walked away and the doors slowly closed and the lift hummed again. Then opened and Twilight walked down the corridor to her quarters. As she entered she got ready for bed as she climbed into bed she smiled softly before drifting off to sleep.
The next day the ship arrived at its destination as the ship slowed the wings folded back onto the body and the crew met on the bridge.
Twilight said “Applejack how long till the Canterlot arrives?”
A moment passed she said “2 hours.”
Twilight nodded 2 hours later the Canterlot arrived.
Rainbow Dash said “Fluttershy scan the area for Griffin patrol ships.”
After pressing a few buttons Fluttershy said “all clear.”
Then a transmission was received. Applejack said “Capitan Shining Armor is contacting us.”
Twilight said “on viewer.”
The screen lit up and Shining Armor appeared and said “what is your status?”
Twilight said “no Griffin ships in the vicinity.”
Shinning nodded and said “follow me”
The screen turned off as the Canterlot lead them to the Syreenian system. In the center was a newly formed rapidly spinning neutron star. The star was located half in and half out of the of the no travel zone. The planet Syreen now the first planet there were only 3 left the other 5 were gone.
Twilight said “Rainbow assemble a team. Go to the surface and see what you can find.”
Rainbow said “Aj, Fluttershy, Rarity and Pinky meet me in the transportation room.”
The 5 ponies went into the room and behind a console stood a zebra they took some headsets down from a rack on the wall as they stood on the pads they placed the headsets on their heads. They also put on saddlebags containing all the tools needed for a ground mission.
Rainbow said asked “every pony ready?” The others nodded turning Zecora to she said “prepare to transport us the surface.”
Zecora nodded then pressed a few buttons and said “keep your eyes on the prize and prepare to energize.”
Fluttershy closed her eyes as 5 tubes came down encasing them a hum was heard as they dissolved and they resolved on the planet’s surface.
Fluttershy shuttered and said softly “I don’t think I will ever get used to that.”
They looked around to assess their surroundings they noticed the planet was in ruin. The surface originally green grasslands were now bare bluish rock. Huge cracks and fissures were everywhere buildings lay in ruin. The sky was black the stars could be seen and the pulsar could be seen in rotating in the sky. The rotating light pulses caused the light and dark to alternate like the flapping of a giant black wing this gave everything a slight strobe effect.
Pinkie waved her hoof and giggled at the effect.
Rarity said “this planet looks awful and to think it used to be a paradise.”
Rainbow said “ok Fluttershy your and I need to fly around and cover a 154 meter radius and meet back here Pinkie scan the area Aj, Rarity keep an eye out for trouble.”
Every pony saluted Rainbow and Fluttershy rose into the air and began their circle Applejack and Rarity took up defensive positions. Pinkie pulled out a scanning device when the pegasi returned they landed.
Rainbow asked “Fluttershy what do you see?”
She said “nothing the land is bare.”
Rainbow rose up and hovered then said “I found a pile of rubble 24 meters in that direction” pointing straight ahead Pinkie what did you find?”
She giggled and said “this thing makes the coolest sounds” Rainbow groaned then said “focus Pinkie.”
She giggled and said “oh right.”
She looked at the device and said “I’m picking up traces of dubninium-262 and radon.”
Rainbow turned her head and asked from where?”
Pinky waved the device around and replied “everywhere.”
They walked in the direction of where Rainbow pointed earlier they soon came upon what was left of a crystal casing it was shattered fragments lay strewn all around. A glint caught Rarity’s eye she levitated some crystal pieces and revealed a plaque. It read this crystal casing holds the master of chaos may his crystal prison last forever.
Rainbow shook her head and pressed a button on the side of her headset and said “Zecora bring us back.”
A hum was heard as the 5 returned to the ship once on board Pinkie took the scanning device to the science department. Where it was plugged it into the main computer and the data was uploaded and analyzed. As the team returned to the bridge they took their stations. Pinkie entered the bridge soon after and went to a console and pressed a few buttons. The text came onto the small screen analysis complete the readout appeared and she read over it.
Applejack looked over and saw the look on her face and asked “you alright sugar cube?”
Pinkie just looked at her with a look as if she had just seen a ghost and pointed to the screen she looked at the readout and her jaw dropped she said “C-Capitan you better come see this.”
Twilight stood up and walked over to the screen where the readout was after reading it she just sat down on her haunches.
Rainbow saw the look on their faces and asked “what’s going on?”
Twilight just said “someone released Discord from his prison.”
Rainbow asked “how?”
Twilight said “first the star was not massive enough to go nova on its own also the traces of dubninium-262 and radon your team detected on the surface. They are elements leftover from a singularity implosion.”
Rainbow said “so you’re saying someone intentionally destroyed the star?”
Twilight said “yes but the question is who?”
Tracking down the saboteur (revised)
After the effect of the revelation began to sink in they just stood there not sure what to say.
Applejack broke the silence “how?”
Twilight looked at the screen and said “based on these readings tri-bidium was injected into the stellar core disrupting the balance of fusion vs gravity and gravity won.
Applejack said “ah don’t understand.”
Twilight said “a star is always in constant balance between either flying apart from the energy it produces or being crushed by gravity. Offset one of these parameters and the star will either explode or collapse in on itself. The tri-bidium disrupted the energy production causing gravity to compress the core. This in turn caused the core to shrink to the point of becoming so dense it became a singularity and imploded. The implosion created a shockwave that destroyed the 7 inner most planets and devastated Syreen. Whoever did this knew that this knew exactly what they were doing.”
Thinking for a moment she said “computer display long range detection logs for Syreenian system date 2355-2-3.”
An image of the Syreenian star appeared it looked normal then it suddenly dimmed shrank in size and exploded in a brilliant flash soon after a neutron star formed.
Fluttershy said “who would want to do something like that?”
Rainbow said “the Griffons remember what Shining Armor said.”
Rarity said “I doubt that this is beyond their technology besides they are more interested in conquest than chaos.”
Pinkie looked around and asked “then who?”
Twilight said “I don’t know contact Admiral Celestia.”
Applejack pressed a few buttons and the screen came to life and Celestia was on the screen.
Twilight said “greetings Admiral.”
Celestia smiled and said “greetings Capitan and crew.”
Twilight said “we have news we analyzed the planet Syreen and what we found is bad. Someone injected tri-bidium into the stars core causing a singularity implosion. We detected dubninium-262 and radon on the planet’s surface.”
Celestia’s face went limp for a moment and sighed “this is not good. I will speak with Luna and Cadence about this in the meantime I want you to speak with the Griffins. Maybe they can help I am not sure they will be entirely forth coming but do what you can Celestia out.” The screen went blank.
Twilight said “contact the Griffon Empire let’s hope they are willing to talk.”
The message went out much to their surprise a message came through moments later.
Applejack said “Griffin supreme chancellor standing by”
Rainbow said “wow that was fast.”
Twilight said “on viewer.”
A Griffon appeared on the screen.
It was one Rainbow knew from a long time ago she said “I knew this Griffon once I should talk to her I’ll explain later.”
Twilight nodded. Rainbow walked towards the screen said “hello Gilda it’s been a long time.”
Gilda nodded “too long Dash.”
Rainbow said we need your help someone destroyed the Syreenian star and freed Discord.”
Gilda said “what do you want from me and what’s in it for the empire?”
Rainbow said “just information we are trying to figure out who is responsible also once he regains his strength he will plunge the galaxy possibly the universe into total chaos. Then just for kicks and giggles he will make Voltor the chaos capital.
Gilda thought for a moment then said “you make a good point so what do you want from us?”
Rainbow said “I was hoping you could help do you know who has the technology to build a a singularity implosion device?”
Gilda arched an eyebrow then replied “possibly I will send a ship to your location to analyze your findings that is unless you don’t want to share.”
Rainbow smiled with a wide grin and said with a slightly cynical overtone. “No we wouldn’t dream of hiding such valuable information.”
Gilda smiled and said in an equally cynical tone. “Good we would not want anything to be misconstrued now would we? I will send a ship it will arrive soon.”
Rainbow nodded as the screen went blank.
Twilight said “you knew that Griffon?”
Rainbow replied “yes I was only a filly at the time before relations with the Griffins became strained we were friends and kind of still are. After relations fell apart she left for her home world and became supreme chancellor. She asked me to come with her she promised me my own fleet. But when I told her I was joining the Equestrian Confederation she was not happy but respected my decision” she sighed and said “if only things could have been different.”
Just then they received a message from the Canterlot Shining Armor said “sorry I have to leave. Admiral Luna has given me new orders I am to report to the Mararian system see you soon sis.”
Twilight said “see you soon” the screen went blank the ship powered up and disappeared in a streak.
As Twilight said “I am going to study the Syreenian readout further if any pony needs me I will be in the spare room.”
Several hours later a Griffon battle cruiser came to their location Fluttershy went to the Capitan’s spare room and pressed the button on the side of the door.
Twilight said “come in.”
Fluttershy poked her head in first then entered looking around she said “u-mm Capitan the Griffin battle cruiser is here.”
Twilight said “thank you I’m on my way.”
As the 2 exited the room Fluttershy went to her station Rainbow said “are we in visual range?” Fluttershy nodded “we are” Rainbow said “ok on screen.” The screen came to life and a ship could be seen coming closer. It was large it resembled a giant Griffin with its wings arched upwards its claws looked ready to attack. If it were real it would pounce on its prey an eerie silence fell over the bridge.
Rainbow asked “who’s going to talk first us or them?”
Twilight looked over and said with a slight smile “we are, open a channel.”
Applejack pressed a button and the commander of the ship came on to the screen a light blue unicorn with a silver mane appeared.
Twilight jumped up and shouted “YOU!”
The commander smiled with a cocky grin and said in a somewhat sarcastic manor. “Oh you remember me I’m touched I haven’t forgotten you.”
Rainbow said “oh look every pony it’s the great and traitorous Trixie!”
Apple Bloom said “who?”
Trixie said “the great and powerful commander has come to trade information not insinuations.”
Rainbow muttered in a somewhat annoyed tone “I’d like to insinuate my hoof into her great and powerful flanks.”
Trixie sneered “I heard that! You said the Syreenian star was sabotaged.
Applejack said “yea.”
Trixie said “send Trixie the information you have.”
The information was sent Trixie looked at it then looked up with a look of shock and said “there is only one race that uses this sort of weapon the Vol-Ponika.
When she saw the blank look on every ponies face she said “you’ve heard of the Vol-Ponika haven’t you?” Every pony shook their heads Trixie rolled her eyes the Vol-Ponika are a race of cyber ponies. The last ship that encountered them was less than fortunate out of a crew of 237 only 3 survived. Now if there is nothing else Trixie will take her leave and return to Voltor.
Twilight nodded the screen went blank and the Griffin ship departed.
Apple Bloom said “great and powerful traitor?”
Applejack said “yea about 3 years ago she was at the academy with us but she was arrogant and boastful.”
Rarity said “yes, I remember having classes with her and she tried to upstage the professors. I heard she was suspended for cheating on magic exams. She used magic enhancement instead of using her own natural abilities. She also tried to reprogram the computers to give herself favorable scores. When she was caught she was expelled from the academy she then tried to create a crisis one that put the security of the entire Confederation at risk. “Placing a hoof to her chin tapping it she continued “they never said exactly what she did. I heard she tried to sell the access codes to the Confederation’s defensive grid to the highest bidder. She was found guilty of treason against the Confederation and exiled after that she disappeared.”
Twilight shook her head sadly and walked over the computer console and plugged in a device into the console and said “computer download history of Vol-Ponika to this device.
A teal bar went across the screen then the text read download complete. Once the transfer was complete she levitated the device into a pocket she had on the side of her uniform. After her duty for the day ended she spent some time in 12 upper with her friends. They talked about various things. When she returned to her quarters she took the pad in a purple aura and began reading the history of the Vol-Ponika. The text read information on the Vol-Ponika is limited what is knon is they are a race of cybernetic ponies. They were first encountered by Capitan Thunder Blazer 75 years ago. The Vol-Ponika are known to many races The few who encountered them describe them as a race of cybernetic ponies with weaponry capable of blasting a ship to atoms. However, this cannot be cohobated since few have encountered them and of the few that have encountered them even fewer returned.
Twilight stopped reading and said “computer what is the time?”
The computer replied “the time is 22:45 hours.”
She thought it’s too late to send a transmission but should something this important be sent over open space? She decided to go to sleep and tackle the issue with a fresh perspective the next morning after she awoke she was making her way to the bridge as she approached the lift as the doors opened.
Suddenly a voice shouted “HOLD THAT LIFT!” Turning around she saw Pinkie running up to the lift.
Twilight held the doors open and Pinkie entered Twilight said “bridge.”
One they were on the bridge the rest of the crew was there Twilight said “senior staff meet me in the lounge Apple Bloom you have the bridge.”
Once in the lounge Twilight told them about the Vol-Ponika and the information she found about them. Rainbow asked “what did Admiral Celestia say about them?”
Twilight replied “I haven’t spoken to her yet I would ask you what do you know or have heard about them?”
Before any pony could reply Apple Bloom’s voice came through the communication channel “bridge to Capitan Twilight.”
Slightly confused she replied “Twilight here what is it?” Apple Bloom said “sorry to disturb ya but we are receiving a distress signal from a Griffin battle cruiser they say they are under attack.”
Twilight said “on my way.”
The crew went to the bridge and every pony took their stations.
Rainbow said “on viewer.”
A Griffin appeared on the screen sparks and smoke was seen everywhere.
The Griffin said “to any ship who is receiving this message we are under attack by the Vol-Ponika our shields are failing and require immediate assistance.”
Twilight said “Fluttershy trace that signal ensign set course for the source.” Fluttershy said “I have the source” Apple Bloom said “course set” Twilight said “maximum velocity.”
The ship speed off in the direction of the signal once they arrived they saw 4 small ships were attacking the Griffin cruiser they were very strange looking. They were small only large enough for a single pilot. They were V shaped with a cockpit in the middle a pony clad in steel armor could be seen. As the Wonderbolt entered firing range they began to shoot the attacking ships damaging or destroying 2 of the attacking ships.
Applejack said “Capitan were receiving a message.”
Twilight asked “from the Griffins?”
Applejack said “no.”
Twilight said “on viewer” the screen lite up and they were stunned by what they saw staring at them with a cold evil stare was an alicorn! It had a black coat and wore a blue helmet with a bluish starry flowing mane on the chest was a blue crest with a moon on it.
Twilight said “Admiral Luna what are you doing here? Why are you and these ponies attacking the Griffins?
The alicorn only looked annoyed and said “this is not your affair pony leave now or else.”
Twilight asked Luna why are you doing this what is going on?”
The alicorn screamed “EITHER YOU LEAVE OR I WILL DESTROY YOU!”
The screen went blank Twilight looked at the crew somewhat confused suddenly a message came through it was from the Griffin ship.
“Systems damaged engine core going critical."
Rainbow said “Zecora transport the Griffins over here.”
The ship exploded then the attacking ships departed.
Twilight contacted security “Spike we have some Griffins coming on board see to it they have quarters and escort the leader to the bridge I’ll explain later.”
Spike said “understood.”
He went to the transportation room and there were 3 Griffins in the room. They seemed to be in good shape one of them had some singed feathers and skin.
Spike looked at Sweetie Belle and said “take the injured one to medical bay.” Then turned to the remaining Griffins and asked “which one of you is the Cmdr.?”
One of them raised a paw Spike said “Scootaloo take our guest to quarters Cmdr. I have orders to escort you to the bridge and speak with the Capitan.
The Griffin nodded he seemed to be shaken up about something as they entered bridge they went into the lounge.
Twilight said “Rainbow Dash join me in the lounge Fluttershy you have the bridge.
Once inside they sat down Twilight spoke “I am Capitan Twilight Sparkle.”
The Griffin said “I am Cmdr. Kamar are we your prisoners?”
Twilight said “no we responded to your distress call you were being attacked who attacked you?”
Kamar had a scared look and said “we were suspected of double crossing her.”
Rainbow asked “her who?”
Kamar looked around nervously then said Koszmar Meness” she was unhappy with a shipment it was not to her exact specifications, she accused us of not complying with the terms of the agreement.
Rainbow asked “what agreement?”
Kamar said “we entered an agreement with Koszmar Meness not to long ago we were doing a secret military operation it was so secret even the chancellor did not know about it. It was an exchange of supplies for technology in return we would receive immunity from the coming chaos. Once a Griffin makes a deal it must be completed at all costs failure is not an option” chucking slightly he said “I think the loss of a ship if a pretty big failure now we cannot return to Voltor.”
Twilight just smiled pressing a button on the table she said “Twilight to Spike.”
A voice replied “Spike here.”
Twilight said “come to the lounge.”
When Spike entered she said with a smile “show our guest some quarters.”
As Spike left with Kamar after the doors closed Twilight turned to Rainbow and asked “do you know what he was talking about?”
Rainbow shook her head “I never heard of anyone named Koszmar Meness.”
Twilight said “I will speak with Admiral Celestia.”
Rainbow saluted and left. Twilight contacted Admiral Celestia when she appeared on the screen. She smiled and said “it is good to see you again Capitan Twilight what did you find?”
Twilight seemed a bit unsure but asked “I am not sure if this should be discussed over open communications.”
Celestia arched an eyebrow then said “very well switch to encrypted frequency.”
Each one pressed a button which scrambled the signal then Celestia said “ok now what is so important it could not be mentioned over standard communications channels?”
Twilight said “we discovered the Syreenian star was deliberately destroyed and we found traces of dubninium-262 and radon. We shared the information with a Griffon commander and they said it was the work of the Vol-Ponika. Today a Griffin ship was attacked and destroyed by them. There were 3 survivors the commander said they answered to some pony named Koszmar Meness and they are probably going to request asylum. We were threatened by an alicorn with a black coat and a blue helmet with a bluish starry flowing mane, on the chest was a blue crest with a moon on it I thought it was Admiral Luna.”
Celestia had a stunned look on her face all she could say was “oh crap.”
Twilight was a little confused Celestia just smiled warmly. “The alicorn you encountered was not Luna she came to Confederation headquarters 2 days ago.” She sighed “you and your friends come to Earth and meet me at Confederation headquarters I will tell you all the details.”
Twilight was a little confused then nodded and the screen went blank still unsure she left the lounge and when she was on the bridge.
Twilight said “Apple Bloom set course for Earth velocity 5.2.”
After pressing a few buttons she said “course and speed set.”
Twilight said “initiate” turning to her crew she said “we are to go to Earth and meet with Admiral Celestia at Confederation headquarters.”
The ships wings extended and folded back 45ᴼ and accelerated they arrived on Earth Twilight gave the non-senior members temporary leave. As the rest went to Confederation headquarters as they entered the building they were taken back by how massive it was. Rarity was impressed by the décor and the opulent crystal chandeliers that hung from the ceilings with glowing crystals inside them. The walls had the same glowing crystals along the top near the celling one crystal every 1.5 meters she thought to herself I must get some of those for myself sometime.
As they walked along the corridor they soon came to a set of large double doors guarded by 2 large unicorn stallions. When they came to them one of then spoke “the admirals are expecting you” then opened the doors in a white aura.
As they entered the room the doors closed behind them they saw admiral’s Celestia, Luna and Cadence. Celestia sat in the middle Luna was on the right and Cadence was on the left Celestia smiled and said “welcome please sit down.”
She levitated several cushions for the 6 to sit on “I’m sure you have questions” they all nodded. Celestia hung her head looked over at Luna and said with a sad soft overtone “the alicorn you encountered was Luna sort of.”
The group gasped and at at the same time said “WHAT?!”
Luna said “allow me to elaborate it was me but it was not me. It all began 100 years ago Equestria was recovering from the great Gorgon war. I was on a routine flyover when I saw some pony that seemed to be in distress so I landed to render assistance when I felt like something poked me. I fell to the ground and was unable to move but I could still look around and could hear. I heard a voice I think it was a stallion telling his companion to act quickly before the sedative wore off. I saw what looked like a fluid extraction device float past I’m sure they took blood samples because I could hear them saying they needed at least 2 pints. After they were finished the sedative was beginning to wear off and I could move my head slightly. I could see a unicorn and an earth pony. The unicorn levitated a small device pressed a button and a portal opened I saw what looked like shimmering vortex appear in front of them. They entered and disappeared as if they teleported away. If it was magic it was unlike any known to me. As the sedative wore off I could feel a slight pain in my flank where they poked me. I could not understand what they wanted with my blood. I told Celestia about it we searched and found nothing. Then 50 years later there were reports of me leading a group of cyber-ponies and attacking off world settlements. At the time of the attack I was negotiating a treaty between the Zygonians and the Hormoarians. I spoke with a geneticist who said the only reason behind the blood samples would be to create a clone. We wondered who would want to clone me then a few days later we got a distress call from the planet Zangar. They were being attacked by cyber-ponies lead by a a creature with the head of a pony deer antlers a lion and eagle paw a goat and dragon leg bat wings and a snake tail. They said the creature was riding a black alicorn with blue armor. Unsure of what we were up against we brought along the gems of harmony. The 6 mystical artifacts you all carry now honesty, kindness, laughter, generosity, loyalty and magic. We went to the planet Zangar once on the surface everything looked strange. Rain fell upwards trees floated upside down some were even planted upside down. Pies flew around in all directions we watched as a pair of dog ears and a collar floated by without a dog. But barking sounds could be heard and it was being chased by a leash. Then Discord appeared in a flash of magic he was riding an alicorn that looked almost exactly like me. The alicorn had darker coat and blue helmet with a blue crescent moon her chest plate.
Discord laughed and said “say hello to your worst nightmare meet my pet Nightmare Moon a fantastic specimen don’t you agree? I hired some ponies to steal your blood so I could make a clone of you and together we created an army of cyber ponies.
Celestia asked “why are you telling us this?”
Discord replied “if only to see the looks on your faces it’s totally worth it from now on chaos will rule the universe!”
Luna paused and just shook her head.
Twilight said “a clone?”
Pinkie giggled and said “send in the clones.”
Every pony just looked at her funny and she just said softly “never mind.”
Luna continued with her tale “we used those 6 gems we brought with us I took laughter, honesty and loyalty. I hit my doppelganger causing Discord to fall off. Celestia used generosity, kindness and magic to stun him I did the same for Nightmare Moon once they were separated we combined our powers and encased them both in crystal.
Before being completely encased in crystal Discord said “this isn’t over I will be back.”
We placed Discord on the planet Syreen and Nightmare Moon on the planet Krisin it was hoped that they would remain sealed away forever alas this would not be. Several months ago we received a report that a 5 km asteroid crashed into Krisin. A science team was sent to assess the damage to the biosphere. The damage was extensive 77% of the life forms were wiped out I asked them to check on a site found on the eastern continent all that were found were crystal fragments the crystals were not indigenous to the planet. An analysis was done on them to see if they were formed from the impact or an impact related event. The fragments were analyzed and were found to me magically woven. There was no doubt this was from Nightmare Moons crystal prison it was determined the impact of the asteroid created a shockwave so intense, it traveled around the planet and shattered the crystal casing freeing Nightmare Moon. We do not know how she got off the planet her time in the crystal left her weak. She just recently was able to raise an army and build a singularity weapon and free Discord. The gems of harmony now known as the achievements of harmony are the only things that can stop them. The Wonderbolt is the only ship to incorporate them into its design we had hoped to duplicate the powers of the gems. Imagine a fleet of such ships with the ability to neutralize any threat in the galaxy. But it seems the release of Discord and Nightmare Moon has put a damper on that plan. That is why you are here so you know what you are up against and how to stop them. If they are not stopped they will spread chaos across the galaxy and then the universe.” Every pony just sat there not sure what to say then Luna asked “any questions?”
No pony said anything Cadence said “I have arranged suites for each of you we ask that you all remain here at Confederation headquarters until the Griffons have been debriefed.”
At the same time across the galaxy on the planet Pertinax Nightmare Moon enters a building she walked down a corridor and soon came to a large room. In the center of the room lay a sleeping Draqconicus. The sound of hoof steps on the stone floor woke him from his slumber. As Nightmare Moon entered the room Discord looked up weakly and groaned as he slowly sat up.
Nightmare said “are you awake my lord? Discord nodded he was still groggy as she continued “I believe the Griffins are becoming a liability. When I ordered a delivery of iridium-126 they delivered yttrium-426 I fired on their ship to teach then a lesson. I was interrupted by some ponies attacked my minions causing them to misfire and destroy their ship.”
Discord sat up and groaned “curse that crystal prison for draining my strength.” Looking at Nightmare Moon he said “it does not matter find another race willing to assist. Contact the Changeling Empire I’m sure they would like to be part of our glorious future.”
Nightmare Moon bowed “at once my lord” Discord lay back down as Nightmare Moon left she went to a console and pressed a button and waited. Then a rather unusual creature appeared on the screen. It was large it had a black coat, teal hair and green eyes the most unusual feature was its large crooked horn.
Nightmare Moon smiled and said “greetings Queen Chrysalis I have a proposition for you and your empire.”
Chrysalis said “who are you how did you find this frequency? Wait you look familiar do I know you?”
Nightmare Moon smiled and said “I am known to you as Kosmaras Zana."
Chrysalis said “you are not Kosmaras Zana.”
Nightmare Moon’s horn began to glow and Chrysalis’s console and screen began to glow and pulse with a bluish aura. A blue hand reached out through the screen grabbing the startled queen by the horn.
Nightmare Moon said with an evil smile “you were saying?”
Chrysalis said “o-of course I could be wrong.”
Nightmare Moon smiled and the glow faded and the hand retreated into the screen.
Chrysalis asked “what do you want?”
Nightmare Moon said “an exchange I need supplies you will receive technology also your world will be spared from the coming storm of chaos.”
Chrysalis asked “what supplies do you need?”
Nightmare Moon smiled wickedly and said “just some elements and maybe medical supplies.”
Chrysalis said “if I refuse?”
Nightmare just smiled and her horn glowed and the screen showed the Changeling home in smoldering ruin. There were changelings running all over some were dancing in circles both on the ground and in the air. The sun rose and set very rapidly as the moon would dance across the sky before falling to the horizon and the sun would rise again. Discord appeared in the sky in a semitransparent state looked around at the chaos as he laughed manically raised his hands and said “oh how I love chaos it’s so beautiful.”
Chrysalis lowered her head sighed and said “very well we have a deal.”
Nightmare Moon said “wise choice I will send a Vol-Ponika ship to your planet” the screen went blank.
Several hours later outside Chrysalis’s palace a star shaped craft approached Chrysalis stepped outside and watched as the ship went horizontal. Then 4 legs extended and the craft landed. Then a ramp descended from the underside of the ship and down the ramp stepped a Vol-Ponika. It was slightly taller than an average pony and was clad in deep blue armor as it descended down the ramp and looked around Chrysalis could see its eyes but there were none only 2 round lenses that almost seemed too glow a dull red.
Then it spoke its voice sounded almost robotic “greetings Queen Chrysalis I am Mandamar of the Vol-Ponika.”
Chrysalis said “welcome to Zaqar what do you require?”
Mandamar said “we require 4 metric tons of xynorium crystals that is all for now.”
Chrysalis said “that will take several hours to load” Madnamar replied “time is not important.”
Several hours later the last of the cargo was loaded Mandamar stepped on the ships ramp. Then turned to Chrysalis and said “Kosmaras Zana will contact you when we need more supplies. In the meantime here is your payment.” Walking up to Chrysalis a small compartment opened on the chest plate and a tablet came out. “Those are schematics for an engine capable of exceeding velocity 12.”
Chrysalis took the tablet in a green aura Mandamar turned and walked up the ramp and then it closed and the ship lifted up and the legs retraced and it flew up and disappeared into the green sky. Chrysalis held the tablet and looked at it and thought faster than velocity 12 is that possible?
An uneasy alliance (revised)
Back on Earth while the griffons were being debriefed the crew of the Wonderbolt indulged themselves in the hobbies they enjoyed. Rarity visited in a tailor’s shop she founded and assisted in designing and creating Confederation uniforms and off duty outfits. Pinkie visited with her old baker friend and together they created some of the most delicious confections. Fluttershy went to visit an animal shelter and helped with sick and injured pets. Applejack visited her family cider production factory and assisted in quality control. Twilight visited the department of science and magic and talked to the students about the importance of study. Rainbow Dash visited the pegasi daredevil school to assist in skydiving classes. Each of them found joy in their various crafts even if it was only for a few days. On the last day as dusk fell each of them went outside and stared up into the sky each one thinking of the other 5 and how they were doing. When they went home they all had a message waiting for them it was from admiral Celestia requesting meeting the next day at 09:30 hrs.
The next day they met with Celestia who told them “the Griffins have disclosed the location of Nightmare Moon she is on the planet Koros. I want you to take the Wonderbolt there and see if this is true during the debriefing a special device was placed on your ship it’s a prototype interface device built into the shield generator. When activated it creates a time phase displacement that puts the ship slightly out of phase with space time. In essence you will be invisible. I should caution you while the displacement shield is active your shields will be non-active.” She smiled and said “it should not be a problem unless they scan you with an anti-lepton particle beam good luck if you are ready I will teleport you to your ship”
They all nodded as Celestia’s horn began to glow and in a flash the crew was on the bridge of the Wonderbolt.
As every pony took their stations Twilight said “Apple Bloom set course for Koros velocity 7.2”
Apple Bloom pressed a few buttons the ships wings extended folded back 45° and the ship was underway she said “course set, time to arrival 14.6 hrs.”
Twilight nodded. When they arrived in the Korosian system Twilight said “activate the displacement shield.” Applejack pressed a few buttons and the ship faded out of space time.
Fluttershy said “I found the planet Koros it’s the 5th planet in a system of 8.” Then she looked at her console and said softly “oh my, the 5th planet is surrounded by a very powerful magic field and there are Vol-Ponika ships patrolling the area.
Twilight said “on viewer.”
The screen lite up and 5 star shaped ships passed by them as the ships continued on their course.
Rainbow said “good they didn’t see us set course for Koros.”
As they approached the planet they saw it was surrounded by a blue green aura Twilight thought the shield looked familiar it resembled one of Shining Armors protection spells. The difference with this one was it was much stronger.
Fluttershy said “um Capitan I’m picking up a magic amplifier on the surface."
Applejack said “confirmed there is no way our weapons can penetrate that shield.”
Rainbow said “bridge to engineering.”
A voice replied “chief engineer Big Mac here.”
Rainbow said “Cmdr. we require your assistance on the bridge.”
Big Mac said “I’m on my way.”
Several minutes later the lift doors opened and a red stallion with blonde hair and a green cut apple cutie mark emerged. He said “chief engineer Big Mac reporting.”
Twilight said “commander see if you can find a weakness in that protection shield."
He went to a console and said “transfer engineering controls to bridge."
He pressed a few buttons and looked at the screen then turned to face the crew. “The amplifier can be overloaded and the shield broken. But it will take a blast of energy greater than our weapons can produce.”
Just then an alarm went off Mac went to his station. He pressed a few buttons and said “we have to leave now the displacement module is overloading. If we don’t leave in the next 5 minutes it will overload the shield generator relays and our shields will be inoperative.”
Both Twilight and Rainbow nodded and Twilight said “Apple Bloom take us back to Earth velocity 7 as soon as were clear of the system disengage the displacement shields.”
Apple Bloom pressed a few buttons and the ships wings extended and accelerated.
At the same time on Zaqar Chrysalis is looking over the schematics Mandamar gave her. She slowly came to the realization that this new form of propulsion could potentially render current means of travel obsolete overnight. She thought with this means of travel I could spread my empire across the galaxy.
She summoned her top scientists and engineers and gave them the schematics and said “I want you to build this engine.”
Later that day in the research and development facility a meeting was held to evaluate the feasibility of the project. The lead scientist addressed the group he said “greetings I am Dorgar as you are all aware we have been commissioned to construct a new type of engine. One that uses a means of propulsion that will render all current forms of propulsion obsolete.”
He then showed the schematics and what it could do after making the presentation he asked “any questions?
One of the scientists who had some reservations about the project raised a hoof Dorgar said “yes Nackbar?”
Standing up Nackbar said “is this really possible? We are being asked to in essence construct a faster than light propulsion system when noting can go faster than light.”
Dorgar replied “yes you are right light speed cannot be exceeded but it can be circumvented. A ship with this engine does not actually move the engines create a field that distorts the space around it. Causing the space in front to expand and the back to compress this pushes the ship forward just reverse the compression to slow down. Computer simulations predict since the ship is not traveling through the fabric of space rather the fabric of space is moving around the ship. Therefore there is no limit to how fast it can go an inertial inhibiting field that surrounds the ship protects the crew” looking over the group he says “any other questions?”
Another scientist raised a hoof and asked “what is the power source?”
Dorgar replied “the engines power source is separate from the ship. Anti-matter powers the ships systems but the engine is powered by dark energy, according to the schematics” then zoomed in on the section that described the fuel. “The universe is made of 80% dark energy using the collector.” Imposing a picture of the engine over an imperial cruiser pointing to a square in the center of the aft section “here is the collector.” The anti-matter system is used to initiate the collector once it is activated it absorbs the dark energy and powers the engine. He then looked at the schematics and said with a smile “we can adapt this to our ships. It would save us months or even years of construction I want each of you to adapt this to a cruiser. Now if there are no more questions you’re dismissed.”
As the group dispersed Dorgar smiled thinking this technical revolution is going to place the empire so far in advance of our enemies. Just then a communication came through snapping him pout of his daydream. Slightly annoyed he went to a console and pressed a button and Chrysalis appeared on the screen.
He bowed reverently “greetings my queen what can I do for you?”
Chrysalis said “what have you found about those technical engine schematics?”
Dorgar replied “good news my queen we can adapt them to our cruisers.”
Chrysalis smiled “very good how long will it take?”
Dorgar replied “not long a few days”
Chrysalis said “very good I just received a message from Kosmaras Zana Discord has almost fully recovered and had requested our support on the planet Koros.” Our spies in the Confederation have said they are planning an attack soon and we are to provide support.”
Dorgar smiled “we will be ready” the screen went blank.
Meanwhile on Voltor news of the loss of not only a ship and crew but that a secret agreement with Kosmas Menses has reached without the chancellor’s knowledge. When Gilda found this out she was less than pleased.
She summoned the chief military officer general Ornicondira she asked him “why was I not privy to this secret agreement?”
Ornicondira replied “my apologies your Excellency we were going to disclose the information once the agreement was established. But after the loss of a battle cruiser to Vol-Ponika ships we could not take that chance.”
Gilda said nothing at first then said “you know all military operations are to be approved by me right? Ornicondira nodded.
Gilda smiled and said with a wicked overtone “if you tell me everything you have done, I may spare you from gladiatorial combat or maybe throw you into a Krakadon pit.”
He cringed at the thought thinking to an event several months ago. A condemned prisoner was placed in a Krakadon pit. A hole several meters deep with a pool of water and some land surrounding the pool of water. The victim was thrown into the pit and the monster would come up extend its tentacles and drag them to their doom. The image of the monster gave him nightmares it was a creature with 10 arms on its back and a mouth full of razor sharp teeth. The eyes were the most frightening feature large and black, giving it an advantage seeing in the dark. He shook his head and told Gilda everything about the arrangements and how failure was not an option.
Gilda thought for a moment then said “I am not going to place you in the arena” Ornicondira felt a sense of relief Gilda instead decreed “you are hereby exiled form Voltor forever.”
He asked what about my family?”
Gilda replied “they are not however, if you wish to remain a family I suggest you take them with you the choice is yours.”
Ornicondira bowed and left the chancellery Gilda went to a communication console and sent an encrypted message to an old friend. Back on Earth the computer wakes up a sleeping cyan pegasus with a lights and sounds.
Rainbow looked at the clock and said “computer what’s with the alarms its 0:800 hrs.?”
The computer replied “Cmdr. Dash there is an encrypted message designated priority urgent from Voltor.”
Rainbow arched an eyebrow send it through to this terminal.”
The computer said “voice authorization code.”
Rainbow said “Rainbow Dash 20% cooler.”
The computer said “authorization confirmed.”
The symbol of the Equestrian Confederation appeared then a familiar face appeared on the screen.
Rainbow said “hey Gilda what’s up?”
Gilda said “hi rainbow we need to talk I can’t discuss it over communications channels meet me in the Syreenian system.”
Rainbow nodded the screen went blank not sure what to think of the situation she thought this is a great way to spend leave. She flew to a ship rental place and procured a ship with velocity drive that only required a single pilot. After she entered orbit she set course for the Syreenian system when she arrived, there on the other side of the no travel zone was a Griffon thunderbird.
She opened a channel Gilda said “I’m glad you could come meet me on the planet Syreen."
Still not sure what was going on they both landed on the devastated planet as they both stepped out.
Rainbow said “ok now what is so important you had to disrupt my leave time to drag me all the way out here?”
Gilda said “I can assure you this is very important.”
She then told rainbow what Ornicondira told her.
Rainbow sat down and said “come with me to station Equestria as my personal guest and tell this to the Confederation’s leaders."
Gilda reluctantly agreed as they boarded their ships and departed for the station. Once they arrived rainbow contacted the 3 admirals and asked them to come to the station in orbit.
Rainbow said “I have a very special guest an old friend from a long time ago with very important information.”
They came to the station and went to the guest quarters the door opened and they entered the room. Rainbow asked they all sit down they did.
Rainbow said “ok you can come out.”
Gilda slowly emerged from one of the sleeping rooms all 3 admirals looked at each other then at Rainbow she said “Gilda meet Admiral Celestia, Luna and vice admiral Cadence. Admirals this is Gilda an old friend from before the Griffon Confederation rift she has some rather shocking information.”
Celestia said “welcome what is it you wish to disclose to us?”
Gilda told them the story she told Rainbow the 3 sat there in amazement then Cadence said “if the one you call Kosmas Menses has terminated the alliance with you then it means she has more than likely allied with the Changelings.”
Celestia said “it seems we have a common enemy we ask that you join us.”
Gilda said “alright” then looked at Rainbow and continued “I would hate for Voltor to be the chaos capital of the universe.”
Rainbow just smiled. Gilda continued “yes we share a common enemy one that threatens everything we hold sacred and dear. For this reason I am willing to put our differences aside and fight along with you.”
Celestia said with a smile “we have 3 Griffins who were rescued by the Wonderbolt. They came here seeking asylum if you wish for them to return to Voltor they can.”
Gilda arched an eyebrow “I was told there were no survivors” she nodded “very well we will join you against Kosmas Menses.” Every pony in the room nodded Gilda smiled.
Celestia said “we will arrange for you to meet the 3 refugees and after you leave we will rally our ships let us know when you are ready” Gilda nodded.
At the same time on the planet Koros Nightmare Moon is preparing the Vol-Ponika army when Discord comes into the room he has a smile on his face “I have recovered and now it’s time to have some fun.”
Nightmare Moon said with a smile “excellent news my lord I am positioning the soldiers across the planet in case anyone should be foolish enough to attack.”
Discord said with a wicked grin “I have an idea place a few on the surface and put up a some intermittent holes in the magic shield but they’re not really holes just illusions.”
Nightmare Moon smiled and said “yes they will crash into the shield and bounce off sending them tumbling.”
Discord chuckled “oh the looks on their faces.”
Nightmare Moon grinned wickedly. Then she turned a console and pressed a button and a cover slide horizontally to the left and a microphone rose up. She pressed another button and said “attention Vol-Ponika prepare for battle alpha squad proceed to the surface. Beta squad protect the magic amplifier delta squad proceed to your ships and await further instructions.”
The cyber-ponies went to their assigned locations and awaited further instructions. Nightmare moon’s horn glowed as she modified the magic bubble giving it the illusion of holes that appear in random places for short periods of time.
Just then a message light began blinking on the console Nightmare Moon pressed a button and Chrysalis appeared on the screen she said “I have ships on their way they will arrive soon.”
Nightmare Moon said “let me know then they arrive so I can cast an anti-chaos spell on them.” Chrysalis nodded and the screen went blank. Her horn lite up and she cast a bluish light straight upwards it enveloped all the cyber-pony ships. Then descended to the surface to cover all the others turning to discord she nodded “all Vol-Ponika are protected."
He smiled and curved his fingers and placed his hands close together. A blue green sphere appeared and radiated outwards it soon engulfed the entire planet and all laws of physics began to break down. First the sky turned green, red, polka dot even plaid he grinned as multi colored rain fell upwards and sometimes sideways or even wavy.
The ground seemed to rise and fall and at times even spin around he said with a smile “this is only the beginning.”
Nightmare Moon turned her own off the anti-chaos magic and see the effects of the chaos turning it back on she smiled wickedly and thought this should confuse anyone who dares to come here.
Just then Chrysalis contacted Nightmare Moon she said “my armies have arrived” Nightmare Moon said “prepare to receive the anti-chaos spell.”
Her horn glowed and she enveloped the ships in a blueish aura she then opened a small hole in the magic shield.
Chrysalis said “alpha fleet stay in orbit and patrol the system with the Vol-Ponika delta fleet come with me to the surface.” The ships landed and as they exited the ships they could not see the chaos going. Then Nightmare Moon showed them what was going on Chrysalis thought someone has been busy.
She went to the base and met Discord and said “the armies are in place.”
Discord came out of the shadows and said “you have done well just think any who refuse to follow us will be just like what you saw outside” Chrysalis smiled wickedly.
Operation Chaos (revised)
Back on Earth Celestia began the process of rallying ships to deal with the Nightmare Moon threat. Gilda went to visit the 3 refugees who were staying at a suite at Confederation headquarters.
She went to the room pressed a button on the side of the wall and the doors opened and there stood one of the Griffins. Who was surprised to see her he shouted “your excellency!”
This got the attention of the other Griffins who came to the door and saw Gilda standing there. They were also stunned to see her but they invited her inside she said “I spoke with the Confederation leaders and with the threat from Koszmar Meness, we have decided to put aside our differences for now and fight against a common enemy.”
One of the refugees asked “what about Ornicondira?” Gilda said “he has been exiled from Voltor for conducting back door negotiations I am returning to Voltor soon and would ask you 3 to come with me. We will need all the comanders we can get."
The 3 Griffins nodded in agreement and they left for Voltor. Celestia and Luna watched as the Griffin thunderbird departed then vanished in a streak. Luna asked “do you think there will be peace between us and the Griffons?”
Celestia looked over and said softly “I hope so we have so much to offer each other.”
At the same time Rainbow Dash was in a room below the admirals looking out the window also watching as Gilda’s ship departed. She just sighed and slowly walked away feeling slightly depressed. She needed something to lift her spirits she then remembered the virtual reality room. She went there and walked up to set of doors pressed a button on the wall and said “computer activate Rainbow Dash flying program 12.”
The computer said “program loaded enter when ready.”
The door lifted up and she saw a welcome sight the skies over the planet Hecate having visited it a few times loved the warm air currents. She smiled as she took to the air she could feel the wind in her mane she thought about everything looked and felt so real. Looking around she saw the orange sky and the 2 suns low on the horizon it was just as she remembered. Just the door opened and a yellow pegasus entered the room.
Rainbow landed on the floor and smiled “oh hey Fluttershy.”
Fluttershy looked around and said “oooh the planet Hecate very nice.”
Rainbow smiled and said “come flying with me.”
The 2 pegasi took to the air and flew around the sky watching as the ground below moved along Rainbow asked “what brings you here?”
Fluttershy said “oh I’m going to Earth to visit my parents and I was on my way to the shuttle bay when I saw the room was active so I peeked inside.”
Rainbow smiled then sighed “my parents are on Rhea right now it takes 3 weeks to get there and leave is only for 2 weeks.”
Fluttershy just looked down and said “oh.”
After they finished flying Fluttershy said “that was nice I have to be going I’ll see you soon”
Rainbow said “see ya.”
As the 2 exited the virtual room Fluttershy went to the shuttle bay and Rainbow had an idea she said “wait I’m coming to Earth.”
The 2 walked along the corridor as they passed the gymnasium. They heard a voice it sounded like it was shouting “ALRIGHT NOW I WANT TO SEE SOME EFFORT! NO PAIN NO GAIN! LET’S GO MOVE IT! MOVE IT! TODAY PONIES TODAY! Curious they peeked inside and saw the gym coach Bulk Biceps coaching some ponies. He wore a whistle and a ball cap as ponies were lifting weights and running on treadmills.
They giggled and Fluttershy said “I’m glad he’s not my coach.”
Rainbow said “me too.”
They continued to the shuttle bay when they arrived they met a pegasus stallion with a wind swirl cutie mark who said “greetings I am Lt. Wind Breaker what is your destination?”
Rainbow and Fluttershy said in unison “Earth.”
Wind Breaker smiled and said “you’re in luck the last shuttle is available.”
Fluttershy asked “where are the others?”
Wind Breaker replied “they are being used the next one is not scheduled to return for at least an hour.”
They boarded the shuttle and left for Earth as the left the bay the blackness of space could be seen as the shuttle turned the Earth came into view. It was a wondrous spectacle Rainbow wished she could fly that high into the sky to see the planet from this viewpoint. When the shuttle landed the 2 pegasi parted company. Rainbow sighed as Fluttershy flew away she took to the air as well. Not sure what she wanted to do she flew around for a while before flying over Confederation headquarters she noticed something unusual. She landed nearby and saw 2 phillies that were acting out of place looking around nervously. Rainbow moved in closer for a better look one was silver with a white mane and tail with eye glasses and spoon for a cutie mark. The other was light pink with a light purple mail and tail with a white streaks and a tiara for a cutie mark.
The one with the tiara seemed to be in charge as she said “come on lets go the queen won’t wait forever.”
The silver one seemed slightly reluctant “I don’t know about this if we get caught.”
The pinkish one said “we won’t remember if we do this we are guaranteed a place in the new order and we might even get our own moon or planet to rule over.”
Rainbow thought queen? She watched as they put on some outfits to conceal their identity she then followed them as they entered Confederation headquarters she continued following them hovering near the ceiling. She watched as they came to a secured location 2 guards were standing watch when one of the rolled a totally clear ball in their direction. It blended in with the floor and could not really be seen it bumped against the wall behind them. Then expelled a purple smoke the guards passed out as the smoke dissipated the 2 phillies entered the room. Rainbow followed then still keeping a low profile hiding behind various objects.
She noticed them accessing the Confederation mainframe and downloading something then one of them spoke “the queen will be pleased.” She watched then as they left the room and she continued to follow them they entered a room closing the door behind them.
A voice was heard she placed an ear next to the door and heard the voice say “here is the information you requested.”
A 3rd voice could be heard it sounded almost insectoid. “You have done well Kosmaras Zana will be pleased when the chaos storm comes you will be spared. You also will have a place in the new order continue to please us and you a moon or even a planet to rule over as you see fit.
Rainbow left headquarters and went to contact either admiral Celestia or Luna. She went a nearby console and tried to contact either of them but instead she got vice admiral Cadence who said “hello Cmdr. Dash how can I help you today?”
Rainbow said “we have a situation and need to talk” Cadence asked “what is it?”
Rainbow said “I don’t want to talk over communication channels but let’s just say the security of the Confederation may be at risk.”
Cadence said “I see, I will meet you at Confederation headquarters” Rainbow nodded and the screen went blank.
A short time later Cadence arrived at Confederation headquarters and found Rainbow sitting nearby waiting. She said “thank you for coming on such short notice”
Cadence said “you said it was vitally important.”
Rainbow nodded and said “yes” she then told the story about what she saw.
Cadence tilted her head back and said softly “that is a serious accusation.”
Rainbow nodded and said “access the security footage and you’ll see.”
Cadence said “very well as they entered she noticed the passed out guards near the computer mainframe room they were just beginning to awaken.
She asked “what happened here?”
Still groggy one of them said something about a puff of purple smoke.
Cadence she said “report to the medical facility” they saluted and left. She levitated a communication device out of her saddle bag and spoke into it “Cadence to Confederation security chief.”
A voice replied “security chief Lightning Dust speaking.”
Cadence said “we have 2 guards down by an intruder or intruders I sent them to medical facility and I also want security doubled.”
Lightning dust said “at once admiral.”
Moments later 2 new guards arrived to take the previous ones place. Cadence and Rainbow continued on to the confederation security archive. When they arrived Cadence looked at a small box on the wall with 2 lights on it. She levitated out a small flat rectangular card out of her saddle bag and slid it into a slot on the bottom of the box.
A voice said “enter voice authorization code” Cadence said “Cadence vice admiral of the crystal naval fleet authorization code delta vega 72664.”
A green light lite up and the voice said “voice authorization accepted.”
The door lifted up reveling a large room with 3 consoles one in the middle the other 2 on either side.
She asked Rainbow when did this event take place?”
Rainbow said “about 25 minutes ago”
Cadence said “computer play security footage main hallway time index 13:23 hrs.”
She watched as she saw the duo rolling a small sphere and smoke then them entering the Confederation mainframe room.
She then said “computer show footage for Confederation mainframe room time index 13:25 hrs.”
The footage showed them entering the room and Rainbow following and hiding then Cadence noticed something.
She said “computer zoom in and enhance frame 26.6”
She looked at the text on the download bar and said “this is not good see that it says operation chaos. That is the details of our attack plan against Nightmare Moon as well as our fleet capacity who did they give this information too?”
Rainbow replied “I don’t know all I heard was a queen and someone named Kosmaras Zana.”
Cadence’s eyes grew very wide and all she could say was “oh crap!”
She pressed a button on the wall and the door opened as they exited the room.
Rainbow was confused she said “what’s going on?”
Cadence said “we need to contact admiral Celestia and Luna right away! The queen they mentioned is queen Chrysalis of the Changeling Empire and Kosmaras Zana is their name for Nightmare Moon.”
Rainbow asked “what happens now?”
Cadence said “come with me I want you to help identify these spies and when we find them we will deal with them accordingly.”
Rainbow nodded as they went to cadence’s shuttle and soon returned to station Equestria. Rainbow was escorted to a room and Cadence levitated a pad with pictures on it.
Cadence said “just slide your hoof to the left or right to scroll.”
Rainbow began scrolling through the pictures until she came across the phillies she saw outside Confederation headquarters she said “these are the ones slides 12 and 14.”
Cadence asked “are you sure?”
Rainbow nodded Cadence levitated the pad and said “computer access this device and upload slides 12 and 14 to this screen.”
The computer displayed the pictures side by side on the screen on the wall Cadence then said “computer identify the slides 12 and 14”
Above their heads were the names Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon to both Rainbow and Cadence's surprise below the names there was a text known offences.
Cadence said “list known offenses.”
The images darkened slightly and text began to scroll up listing their offences it read list of suspected offenses vandalism, extortion, forgery, extortion and sabotage.
Rainbow said enthusiastically “let’s get them and make them pay.”
Cadence replied “not until we have more evidence I will speak to Celestia and Luna.”
At the same time on Koros Nightmare Moon is talking to Chrysalis about the possible attack. Chrysalis said “my spies have just sent me some Intel on the Confederation. Their attack plan and fleet capacity they won’t stand a chance should they be foolish enough to attack
Discord came in and said with a wicked grin. “Oh they will come and when they do we will have a surprise waiting for them."
He laughed manically Nightmare Moon and Chrysalis just sneered wickedly.
Chrysalis asked “what sort of reward should we give the spies? They seemed egger to join our cause.”
Nightmare Moon scowled and said flatly “we have everything we need they are no longer of any use to us.”
Discord grinned and said “wait I have a better idea let them believe they are still useful give them a task that will get them caught then let the Confederation deal with them.”
Nightmare Moon said “Chrysalis contact the spies and give them a task.”
Chrysalis asked “what sort of task?”
Nightmare Moon grinned wickedly and said “use your imagination just make sure they get caught.”
Chrysalis nodded and the screen went blank then sent a message to the spies the message read agents DT-004 and SP-006 here are your instructions. You are to go to Confederation headquarters and introduce a virus into the Confederation mainframe. One that will melt their microchips virus is included in this message.
After sending the message she returned to where Nightmare Moon and Discord were and said “I sent the message they are caught for certain. I sent it on a frequency that the Confederation is sure to intercept but not be able to trace.”
Both Discord and Nightmare Moon smiled wickedly Discord said “prepare your fleet they will be coming soon.”
Turning to Nightmare Moon he said “make sure the troops are ready I will turn up the chaos” Nightmare Moon nodded and went to inform the Vol-Ponika. As Discord focused and the laws of physics vanished entirely in addition to the previous chaos he created. He added upside down rainbows and mint cotton candy rain with and candy corn hail.
Back in Earth orbit the signal Chrysalis sent was intercepted at an orbital relay station by a Confederation officer a dark purple mare with a red mane and a satellite dish cutie mark. She was monitoring incoming transmissions and sending them to their proper destinations. The officer noticed something different about this signal and contacted admiral Celestia she appeared on the screen she said “greetings Lt. Jormin how may I help you?”
Jormin said “sorry to disturb you admiral but I received a transmission I think it’s form Koros. It’s hard to tell the origin is hard to pinpoint and it contains a computer virus.”
Celestia arched an eyebrow then said “change the code of the virus so that it is inert hut is still there then send it through.” Jormin said “at once admiral.”
After making the modifications the transmission was sent to its destination a house on the outskirts San Ponsisko Diamond Tiara receives the message.
She then contacted Silver Spoon “DT-004 contacting SP-006
A voice replied “SP-006 here.” Diamond says “we have the package meet me at Confederation headquarters”
Spoon said I’m on my way.”
Back at confederation headquarters Cadence and Rainbow were waiting inside. Cadence is speaking to the guards “shortly 2 young phillies will be coming here to attempt to sabotage the Confederation mainframe let them pass.”
The guards are confused Cadence smiles “they will use something to immobilize you.”
She levitates a small hypodermic device and says “this is an antidote from Dr. Stalls it will protect you from the effects of their knockout gas.”
She then administers it to the guards then says “when they administer the gas pretend to pass out and let them inside as they exit take them into custody.”
The guards saluted and Cadence left soon afterwards Tiara and Spoon came into Confederation headquarters and used the same gas on the guards. They fell to the ground and Tiara and Spoon entered the room once inside they went to the computer and inserted the card into the slot.
The computer uploaded the data and the lights began to dim and flicker as a voice said “WARNING!-WARNING! Evil overweight centaurs have invaded produce stands across the planet they have come to steal Earth’s boulders.”
Tiara said “let’s get out of here.”
As the 2 left the room they were confronted by the guards that one said “HALT DON’T MOVE!”
The 2 looked at each other in surprise they tried to flee but were caught in an aura of magic as they were held in the magic aura. The other went to a communication terminal and contacted Cadence and said “admiral we have the 2 in custody”
Cadence said “excellent I’m on my way.”
When she arrived she took the 2 in her magic and teleported them to a prison cell.
Turning to the guards she said “you have done well I will see that you receive an accommodation.”
When she went to a console and contacted Celestia and Luna and said “I captured 2 spies attempting to sabotage the Confederation mainframe meet me on station Equestria.”
When she arrived on the station with Rainbow who wen to her quarters as Cadence met with Celestia and Luna and told them about how Rainbow Dash alerted her to the spies the virus and how they were captured.
Celestia said “these are serious charges I hope you have evidence to back up your accusations.”
Cadence nodded and she contacted Rainbow Dash who came to the room where the 3 admirals were and said “you wanted to see me?”
Cadence said “yes tell Celestia and Luna what you saw at Confederation headquarters.”
Rainbow told the details of what happened and who they answered too and mentioned the video footage they viewed the footage Luna said nothing and Celestia just shook her head.
Cadence said “thank you Rainbow you are dismissed.”
Rainbow saluted and left the 3 admirals went to visit the prisoners to get their side of the story they went to the cells where they were being held they insisted they were innocent
Luna said “if you are innocent then why do we have footage of you attempting to sabotage the Confederation mainframe?”
Neither one of them had a response Diamond Tiara only grinned and said in a very snarky tone “when the chaos storm comes you will be sorry.”
Silver Spoon said nothing she just looked around nervously Celestia said “if either of you are willing to tell any of us what you know we will exact a degree of leniency to your sentence.”
Silver Spoon looked up at the 3 admirals Diamond Tiara just lay down and said nothing later that day Diamond Tiara was taken to an interrogation room. There she was asked about the events at Confederation headquarters she just grinned and said “chaos is coming.”
After some time of questioning it seemed that she was refusing to talk so they decided to see if Silver Spoon would be more forthcoming. They placed her in the room and to their surprise she was more cooperative she asked “if I tell you what I know what happens to me?”
Luna said “treason and sabotage are very serious crimes they carry a sentence of exile from the planet and sometimes banishment to a distant moon or worse. So I recommend that if you tell us what you know we will be lenient.”
Silver Spoon thought for a moment and said “we were hired by a changeling on the planet Tethys they offered us something a chance to avoid the coming chaos storm. All we had to do was pledge our elegance to queen Chrysalis who answered to some being called Kosmaras Zana. They are planning to take over the galaxy and promised us immunity if we agreed to do some tasks for them.
Luna said “do you have any idea how vulnerable you have made us?” She then said in a loud booming voice “we had a chance to defeat Nightmare Moon and Discord. But thanks to you and your friend they are more than likely going to hand our flanks to us on a silver platter!”
Silver Spoon cowered as Luna spoke she shakily said “I’m sorry.”
Luna calmed down a little and said “you will not suffer the same fate as your companion. Hence forth you are hereby exiled from Earth.”
Silver Spoon asked what will happen to Diamond Tiara?”
Luna said “she is going to be sent to a parallel dimension where she will be rehabilitated it is a military dimension where honor and loyalty are paramount.” We have a trade agreement with them where we send them our criminals and they rehabilitate them. In return we give them resources. Once Diamond has learned her lesson she will be permitted to return Silver Spoon asked “how long will that take?” Luna said “it depends on the pony some learn faster than others some never learn.” Leaning close she said “they’re very strict imagine that loud voice I used only louder and harsher.”
Silver cringed.
The final showdown (revised)
She said “let me speak with Diamond maybe I can reason with her.”
Luna nodded they went to the cells and Luna stayed out of sight as Silver Spoon went to speak to Diamond Tiara she sat down on her haunches in front of the cell. Looking inside she said “they are going to banish you to another dimension. One where they will subject you to a disciplinary regiment.
Diamond Tiara looked up with a cold scowl and said angrily “TRATIOR!”
She lunged at Silver Spoon only to be stopped by the energy felid she stood up slowly “Kosmaras Zana will not be pleased”
Spoon said “have you considered the possibility she was the reason we got caught?”
Diamond said “what do you mean?”
Silver said “the virus it did not work look around the Confederation systems are still operational.”
Diamond said “it does not matter traitor.”
Silver Spoon felt as if some pony just reached into her chest and tore her heart out tears welled up in her eyes she said “we were a team always together and together forever.”
Diamond said “we were until you betrayed me.”
Silver said ran away crying Luna also felt bad as she walked away slowly she went to see Celestia who was in an adjacent room looking out a window at the stars.
Seeing Luna’s reflection she turned around and saw the look on Luna’s face and said “what troubles you sister?” Luna said “I may have to send one of the spies to the Mandanu dimension one of them told me everything. Tomorrow if the other refuses to renounce her crimes I will have no choice but to banish her."
Celestia raised a hoof placed it on her sister and said softly “we cannot force her to follow a certain course.”
Luna looked up soulfully and said “I know but I have not done this in over 250 years.”
Celestia smiled and said “get some rest hopefully her friend will persuade her to change her mind.”
Luna nodded and went to lie down for the day. Later that evening Luna woke up and went to speak with Silver Spoon “I want you to speak to your friend and see if you can persuade her to join us.”
Silver nodded they 2 went to Diamond’s cell. Silver Spoon sat in front of the cell “hello Diamond I hope you’re feeling better” Diamond said coldly “what do you want traitor?”
Silver said chokingly come on Diamond it was all for one and one forever.”
Diamond said that did not include betraying Kosmaras Zana.”
Silver said “no she betrayed us.”
Diamond said “you’re lying.”
Silver just shook her head and said “don’t you understand they will banish you to to the Mandanu dimension.”
Diamond said “I don’t care!”
Silver stood up and said softly “goodbye Diamond” and slowly walked away looking back one last time as a tear rolled down her cheek. She went to Luna “she would not change her mind.”
She broke down and cried outright Luna did her best to consul her after several minutes she asked “will I see her again?”
Luna replied “I don’t know.”
Celestia entered the room Silver Spoon left her head hung low in despair. The 2 admirals went to Diamond’s cell and stood in front of her. Celestia said “this is your last chance to join us we do not want to send you to the Mandanu dimension."
Diamond just said your bluffing it does not matter Kosmaras Zana will destroy you!”
Both Celestia and Luna’s horn began to glow and the glow began it intensify suddenly
Diamond said “I will tell you a secret but you must grant me asylum.”
Luna and Celestia looked at each other then back at Diamond and nodded. A ring of green magic surrounded the small philly then poof and a black insectoid creature. Both Celestia and Luna were a bit surprised but things seemed to make sense.
Luna asked “where is Diamond Tiara?”
The changeling replied “give me what I asked for and I will tell you everything.”
Both Celestia and Luna nodded the changeling said “the one you call Diamond Tiara is in Los Pegasus I sent her there then set up the meeting. I was sent by Kosmaras Zana to bring down the Confederation so the Changeling Empire could take over. My orders were to infiltrate the Confederation and topple it little did I realize Kosmaras Zana would betray me.”
Celestia said “the virus you tried to implant was intercepted then modified to be inert.”
The Changeling said sadly “then I failed, I am curious though where were you going to send me?”
Luna said “to the Mandanu dimension it’s a dimension inhabited by centaurs. They are military oriented race they value honor and integrity above all else. We send the ones who we cannot rehabilitate to their dimension they love the challenge.”
The changeling said “I cannot return go to Koros or Zaqar all I can do is try and atone from my sins and get back at Kosmaras Zana by striking her where it will hert the most. Her ego she can sometimes be blinded by her on ambition both she and Discord suffer from that one flaw if they believe they are in control of a situation they will let their guard down. Also the magic shield is enhanced by a magic amplifier”
Luna said “that is useful information.”
Celestia left saying “I am going to see how Silver Spoon is doing.”
Luna dropped the field the changeling slowly walked out of the cell sitting down in front of Luna then asked “what is to become of me now?”
Luna said “we will grant you a residence but for your own protection I recommend you take the form of another being. The changeling nodded and took the form of a tan pony with a light blue mane and a circuit board cutie mark.
Luna said any thoughts on a name?”
The changeling said “on Zaqar my name was Oszukana."
Luna thought for a moment “how about shorten that to either Oszu or Kana?”
The changeling smiled and said “on Zaqar some called me Kana.”
Luna smiled “then that is what we will call you.”
Just then Celestia came back in and said “Silver Spoon is feeling better. She told me Diamond Tiara was her only friend and when she thought she lost that she took it pretty hard.”
Kana looked at the floor Luna asked “what are your skills?”
Kana said “on Zaqar I was a cyberneticist I was commissioned to build biological interface devices. Also queen Chrysalis was working on a new means of propulsion from Kosmaras Zana and the Vol-Ponika that could render all current means of propulsion obsolete.”
Celestia turned to Luna and said “begin operation chaos.”
Luna nodded and left.
She turned to Kana and said “I will allow you to stay here on the station until we can find you a more permanent location. There are just 2 conditions to your asylum request one you never reveal what you are two you do not harm Confederation citizens. If you break either of these rules I will personally deliver you to Kosmaras Zana understood?
Kana nodded and said “I understand.”
She smiled and said “welcome to the Confederation.”
She gave Kana quarters and went to speak with Luna she found her in the communication center Luna asked “what about the magic shield surrounding Koros?”
After giving quarters to Kana Celestia went to see Luna who was in the admiral’s lounge she came in and said “operation chaos is underway however, the Wonderbolt is the only ship equipped with a deflector of harmony. We have not been able to replicate the magic of the achievements yet and the Nightmare Moon’s escape means has put a damper on those plans.” looking at Luna “we cannot wait we must act now, before the galaxy and then the universe is plunged into total chaos.”
Luna said “I sent a message to all available Confederation ships we are to rendezvous tomorrow at 09:30 hrs. near the Koronian system.
The next day the fleet arrived in the Koronian system Celestia opened a channel to all ships “attention all captains, we are preparing to go into battle and put an end to Discord and Nightmare Moon once and for all. Before we go to Koros I need alpha and delta fleet to gather together and Luna will imbue you with an anti-chaos spell. Omega and beta fleet gather together and I will imbue you.”
The fleets gathered around and were imbued with the anti-chaos magic. After the imbuement Celestia addressed the fleets again “the Wonderbolt will break the magic shield around the planet. The Couldsdayle will give them support while they are doing that alpha and delta fleets take care of the Vol-Ponika patrols. Omega and beta fleet deal with the changeling ships any questions?”
No pony said anything Celestia said “good luck Celestia out.”
The ships departed and begin their assignments the Wonderbolt headed for Koros followed by the Cloudsdayle. As they approached the planet the planet an image was put on the viewer it was surrounded by a mass of swirling multi colored magic reds, blues, greens, yellows and violet all swirling around each other.
Twilight said “alright everypony time to use the achievements” Applejack pressed a button on the console and the design in the floor began to rise. The outer ring rose first then the inner ring rose slightly higher the crew gathered around.
Rarity inserted her achievement and said “generosity inserted.”
Applejack inserted hers “honesty inserted.”
Pinky placed hers in “laughter inserted.”
Fluttershy placed hers in “kindness inserted.”
Then Rainbow placed hers in “loyalty inserted.”
Twilight placed hers in the slot on top “magic inserted.”
They placed their hooves into the slots and each gem began to lite up first honesty then loyalty moving in a clockwise motion the gems lite up faster and faster. As the magic achievement began to glow dim at first them slowly getting brighter. Soon the purple star began to pulse as the deflector began to power up. It began to glow as it stored up magic then shot out a spiral double helix rainbow at the shield it impacted as the shield began to shake. Suddenly 3 Vol-Ponika ships came around from behind the planet. The Cloudsdayle took a ready position one of them turned to a 90ᴼ position. The 5 points and the center began to glow the 5 points fired and a 6th beam came from the center the beams converged into a single beam. Striking the Cloudsdayle the shields absorbed the energy.
On the bridge the crew lurched Capitan Spitfire said “Soarin return fire Fleet Foot evasive maneuvers.”
The ship banked and returned fire striking the Vol-Ponika ship striking one of the points on hit ship causing it to list 45ᴼ then 2 others swung around to attack. They swooped down on the Cloudsdayle both bearing down on the ship. They fought tem off as best they could but were slightly outnumbered as a console exploded in a shower of sparks.
Soarin said “Capitan our shields are at 36% we can’t hold out much longer!”
Spitfire said “we have to buy the Wonderbolt more time do you’re best Cmdr.”
Soarin replied “eyie sir.”
Just then Fleet Foot said “Capitan 3 Griffin battle cruisers approaching.”
The battle cruisers attacked the Vol-Ponika ships flying around striking the ships in the center causing them to explode.
Spitfire said “Soarin relay our gratitude to the Griffins.”
As Soarin was sending gratitude t the Griffin cruisers an explosion could be seen on the planet’s surface. The 2 spheres outside Nightmare Moons base shattered causing the magic shield as the magic shield to shatter as well the explosion caused the base to shake violently.
On the Wonderbolt the 6 ponies took their hooves out of the slots turning off the deflector. Everypony took the gems out and took their stations.
On the Wonderbolt Applejack said “message from the Cloudsdayle.”
Twilight said “on viewer.”
Capitan Spitfire appeared on the screen Twilight asked “is everything alright Capitan?”
There was smoke and sparks in the background coughing Spitfire said “thank you Wolderbolt we have sustained thermal overload damage to our main shield generator it will take some time to repair we cannot sustain another attack. However, we are preparing to send ground troops down via shuttle then fall back until we can affect repairs.”
Twilight said “we will provide cover there are 3 more Vol-Ponika ships in route.”
Spitfire nodded and the screen went blank. As the Vol-Ponika ships came in suddenly Fluittershy said “Capitan 3 Griffin battle cruisers coming in range.”
Applejack said “message from the Griffons.”
Twilight said “on viewer.”
Gilda appeared on the screen Rainbow smiled Gilda said “were here to put an end to Kosmas Menses once and for all.”
Rainbow said “glad you could join us.”
Gilda smiled then said “wouldn’t miss it now let’s show these junkyard rejects who’s boss.”
Twilight said “before you go to the surface be sure to contact admiral Celestia or Luna and get the anti-chaos spell."
Gilda nodded and the screen went blank and the ships began firing on the Vol-Ponika ships making short work of them. Afterwards the Griffon cruisers contacted the admirals and received the anti-chaos magical imbuement.
Twilight said “alright everypony lets how them what were made of.”
The ship began to move and assist other ships in need they soon came across the Canterlot being attacked by 2 Vol-Ponika ships and a Changeling imperial cruiser. The Wonderbolt fired a torpedo striking one of the Vol-Ponika ships blowing off one of the points on the ship. The piece exploded as it separated from the ship. The damaged ship sparked and trailed plasma. As the severed piece fell into the planet’s atmosphere the damaged ship tried to regain control. but it was caught in the planets gravity and fell into the atmosphere. As the ship streaked towards the surface the remaining ships rallied against the Wonderbolt. They returned fire and managed to disable a few of the ships but the changeling cruiser got in a lucky shot and scored a direct hit.
Applejack said “Capitan our shields down to 30%.”
Twilight said “target their aft shield generator it should be located near their exhaust port.”
The right leg rotated 180ᴼ and fired a torpedo striking the Changeling cruisers underside the explosion caused the ship to list forward slightly. The changelings seemed to take it personally as they fired striking the ship. The crew was jostled as the ship listed slightly and the lights dimmed monetarily.
Applejack said “our shields are down to 15% one more hit and they’ll collapse.”
Thinking quickly Twilight said “engaged the displacement shields and prrpare the holo-generator.”
The ship faded and disappeared this confused the commander of the channeling cruiser.
Fluttershy said “the Canterlot is approaching.”
The Changeling cruiser turned their attention to the Canterlot.
Twilight said “open a channel to the Canterlot.”
Shining Armor appeared on the screen “Twilight where are you I can’t see your ship?”
Twilight said with a smile “we are very close stand by for a surprise.”
The Changeling cruiser opened fire on the Canterlot as they were attacking the ship suddenly a giant ship appeared over the Changeling ship it shimmered as it appeared. The Changeling cruiser began to attack the giant ship. They fired on the ship but the weapons did no damage they just struck the hull but nothing happened. Seizing the opportunity the Wonderbolt turned off the displacement shields then they and Canterlot fired on the cruiser disabling its shields. After the shields fell they continued to fire destroyed it.
On the Wonderbolt Twilight said “disengage holographic projector.”
Applejack said “incoming message from the Canterlot.”
Twilight said “on viewer”
Shining Armor appeared he was surrounded by smoke and some sparks he asked “very clever sis a hologram nice touch.”
Twilight said “the Cloudsdayle has fallen back for repairs what is your status?”
Shining Armor said “we have sustained serious damage to our engines and shield generators we are unable to move at the moment.”
Twilight asked “Fluttershy are there any other ships in the area?”
Fluttershy replied “no all clear for now.”
Shining Armor said “understood” the screen went blank.“
Twilight asked “what about the surface?”
Fluttershy said “there are pockets of Griffins as well as Vol-Ponika.”
Twilight said “contact admiral Celestia."
Soon Celestia appeared on the screen and said “greetings Twilight how may I assist you?”
Twilight asked “admiral we have 2 ships affecting repairs at the moment what is the status of the battle?
Celestia said “we are doing well the Changelings and the Vol-Ponika have sustained heavy losses alph and delta fleets have begun landings we are preparing to begin landing ground troops as well.”
Twilight nodded “understood.”
Turning to the crew she said “ok were going to the surface I don’t know what to expect but be alert.”
Turning around she said Apple Bloom you have the bridge once we leave if you see trouble activate the displacement shields.”
Apple Bloom nodded and said “don’t worry Capitan.”
Applejack said with a smirk “if ya’ll take the ship for a joy ride ya’ll gonna be in so much trouble.”
Apple Bloom smiled as the 6 went into the lift once in the transportation room then they all put on their communication headsets and targeting displays. As well as duel laser rifles on their backs then stood on the pad.
Twilight said “transport us to the surface.”
Zecora nodded and pressed a button the tubes lowered and Fluttershy seemed a bit nervous as the transportation cycle began they arrived on the surface. Fluttershy said “next time I’m going to take the shuttle.”
They all looked around and saw Discord had been busy rail falling in all directions, the ground was moving up and down like waves on water. Twilight thought it’s a good thing Celestia cast that anti-chaos spell or we would not know which end is up. Then the sound of weapons firing got their attention.
Twilight said “Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy see if you can determine where that is coming from.”
The 2 pegasi took to the air and Fluttershy said “over there” pointing in a direction Rainbow nodded.
The 6 went to the location and found 4 Griffons and a blue unicorn with a silver mane pinned down by 10 Vol-Ponika. Rainbow grinned and said “looks like the great and powerful warrior could use a helping hoof.”
Trixie just rolled her eyes and said “are you here to help or rub my muzzle in this mess?”
Twilight said “were here to assist.”
Suddenly a laser blast exploded nearby causing them all to duck and cover Rarity said “perhaps you should save the quarreling for a later time and focus on the task in front of us.”
Rainbow said with a slight chuckle “yeah good idea.”
Trixie said “we cannot get a shot on them they move too fast we need a distraction.”
Rarity focused and cast a projection spell the Vol-Ponika they saw an image of a green pony walking out from where they were and walked out off to the side.
Twilight used voice projection the holographic pony said “hey robo-rusties you can’t catch me” making faces at them “plbla-plbla-plbla.”
That got their attention they rose up from their hiding place and fired at the hologram it dodged the bolts this gave the others the chance they needed. They fired their weapons and hit one of the cyber ponies in the weapon it exploded. The shrapnel took out the others out knocking the helmet off one of them landing nearby. Rarity turned off the projection and the group walked over to them to see if they were still a threat. As they came upon where their attackers were they were stunned by what they saw the one that lost its helmet looked like a smaller version of Nightmare Moon!
Pinkie ran a scan and said “this pony has the same DNA as admiral Luna looks like some pony sent in the clones.”
Trixie slightly confused said “it looks like Kosmas Menses.”
Twilight said “it is.”
Trixie and the Griffins were stunned Trixie said “what?”
Rainbow said “a clone.”
At the same time in Nightmare Moons headquarters Nightmare Moon came upon the ruined tower and sifted through the smoldering rubble. She soon found the magic amplifier it was broken and smoking she groaned in annoyance. Then went to see Discord once she found him she said “bad news my lord they broke our magic sheild and are probably on the surface.”
Discord said “I will deal with them personally.”
He teleported away and reappeared on the roof he focused his magic and the sky turned dark and thunder rumbled and lightning flashed. Then a face appeared in the clouds and a voice boomed “HEAR ME ALL INVADERS TO THIS PLANET LEAVE NOW! IF YOU DO NOT LEAVE THE CONCEQUENCES WILL BE DIRE!”
The face faded away and the Twilight Trixie group looked around Rainbow chuckled and said “sarcastically is he serious?”
Discord appeared in front of her in a shadowy silhouette “I’m serious.”
Rainbow jumped back “AAAH!”
An echoing chuckle could be heard as he faded away Rainbow groaned in annoyance just then a ship could be seen streaking across the sky. It looked like a Changeling imperial cruiser it sped across the horizon moments later a fireball could be seen rising into the atmosphere. They looked at each other and smiled knowing the battle in orbit was going well.
Pinkie scanned the area “there is a building 152 meters to the north.”
As they walked soon a building came into view it was tall it looked to be 12 meters tall by 21 meters wide. On the roof there was a pyramid and 4 pillars on each corner each pillar had a sphere on top.
Rarity pressed a button on her targeting display a visor came down “there are 2 Vol-Ponika guarding the entrance.”
Trixie said “we need the element of surprise.”
The others agreed and Twilight had an idea she explained her plan and put it into mention. Rarity cast the projection spell from before on the guards.
One of them spoke “HALT! Identify yourself.”
The pony stood between them smiled and said “I am here as a guest of Nightmare Moon.”
One of the guards opened a communication channel a voice annoyingly replied “this better be important.”
The guard said “yes my queen there is a pony here saying you invited them.”
Nightmare Moon said “bring them to me.”
The guard said “Nightmare Moon is expecting you.”
The guard took the pony inside leaving the other one behind Rarity cast a projection spell the guard saw several pegasi flying overhead the guard stood at attention and yelled “HALT!
Panels on the guards armor began to open up revealing large laser cannons on both flanks and opened fire. At the same time the other guard was taking the prisoner to Nightmare Moon who was surprised to see the guard she asked “what do you want?
The guard said “my queen this is the pony at the entrance.”
Nightmare Moon arched an eyebrow “what are you talking about?”
The guard said the pony you said to bring inside.”
Nightmare Moon said “I don’t see anything you’ve been tricked!”
Her horn lite up and an aura of magic enveloped the guard and the pony faded away. Nightmare Moon said “now get back to your post before I recycle your armor with you in it.”
The guard said “at once my queen.”
Back at the entrance the other guard is firing at flying pegasi and not hitting any of them they dodged the energy bolts as they flew across the sky circled around and came back. The guard fired again this time a rocket emerged from the back.
Watching from a distance Trixie said “how many weapons does that pony have?”
The guard fired the missile it missed the pegasi and struck one of the pillars with a sphere on it causing it to come crashing down. The sphere shattered as it crashed into the fortress taking most of the wall with it causing the interior to shake. This got Nightmare Moons attention she came outside with the guard and saw the other guard firing at nothing.
She yelled “WHAT THE HAY ARE YOU DOING?”
The guard said “there are pegasi flying overhead don’t you see them?”
Nightmare Moon said “no.”
She then realized something she quickly placed a magic dome over the fortress the pegasi flying overhead disappeared. The goup outside saw the dome comming down and one of the Griffins asked “what do we do now?”
The ponies just smiled and pointed to their achievements. A griffon said sarcastically “you’re going to bring that down with fashion accessories? What are you going to do throw a bunch of bling at it?”
Rarity said “never underestimate the power of accessories.”
The Griffin just rolled his eyes as the 6 ponies focused as the achievements began to glow a rainbow began to encircle then each of them. They levitated into the air as the 6 rainbows converged forming a double helix. The double helix rainbow shot out from the position of the 6 and went towards the magic shield. It slammed into the shield with such force the building shook.
Inside Nightmare Moon stumbled slightly and said “what was that?”
Discord said “the gems of harmony quickly we must move to counter this.”
He mounted Nightmare Moon and said “to the roof.”
Nightmare Moon spread her wings and flew to the rooftop once there Discord placed his hands on Nightmare Moons horn his hands glowing he said “now.”
Nightmare Moon shot a blue beam of magic from her horn it mixed into the magic shield and the shaking stopped. Then the double helix rainbow suddenly reflected off the shield and back at the 6 ponies knocking them back several meters. The Griffons and Trixie ran to where the 6 were as they staggered to their hooves slightly dazed.
Fluttershy asked “what happened?”
Trixie said “your magic beam bounced back and hit you."
Rainbow said “that was so not cool.”
Back at the fortress Discord and Nightmare Moon were watching and laughing hysterically. Discord said “oh the looks on their faces was priceless.”
Nightmare Moon said “lets finish them.”
Discord said “patience my pet we when the time comes you can have the honor of destroying them.”
Nightmare Moon smiled and said “thank you it will be so much fun to make them suffer and beg for their miserable lives.”
Back outside the fortress the ponies and Griffins were discussing how to counter the reflective magic shield.
Twilight had an idea she said “what we need is a magic boost.”
She pressed a button on her headset “Twilight to admiral Celestia.”
A voice replied “Celestia here.”
Twilight said “admiral we have a situation Nightmare Moon has put of a reflective shield and we need a magic boost.”
Celestia said “the Channelings have suffered serious losses. I will contact vice admiral Cadence she will join you shortly as will Luna and I Celestia out.”
Moments later vice admiral Cadence materialized soon followed by Celestia and Luna Celestia said “ready?”
Every pony nodded and Celestia, Luna and Cadence focused their magic as the 6 ponies focused again their gems began to glow as they levitated into the air. The double helix rainbow formed then the 3 admirals directed their magic at the rainbow. This gave the rainbow a bright glow as it flew towards the magic shield. Discord and Nightmare Moon focused their magic into the shield again as the double helix rainbow slammed into the shield. Causing a huge magic eruption shattering the shield the shockwave demolished the fortress. Discord and Nightmare Moon emerged from the rubble as the group surrounded them.
Celestia said “it is over.”
Nightmare Moon and Discord looked and each other and then at the group Nightmare Moon said defiantly “never!”
As her horn lite up and she shot a beam at the group Celestia put up a protective shield as Luna and Cadence held her ad discord in a magic aura. The others charged up the achievements of harmony and shot the double helix rainbow at Nightmare Moon encasing her into crystal.
Discord said angrily “this is not over we will return!”
Pinkie just giggled and said “your next bubbles.”
The others laughed but Discord was not amused the double helix rainbow struck him and encased him in crystal. As the crystal formed around him the chaos storm slowly subsided when the rainbow tornado subsided they all could see Discord inside the crystal. He looked very angry Nightmare Moon bore a similar expression.
Trixie asked “where are they going to be put where they cannot escape?”
Celestia Luna and Cadence looked at each other and Luna said “let’s put Discord on the planet Magmarus in the Dentar system and Nightmare Moon on Fendaria. Both planets orbit a white dwarf star so there is no chance of a supernova explosion. To ensure they do not return place them underground so they cannot be found.”
As they crushed the last pockets of resistance and defeated the Vol-Ponika and the Changelings. When confronted by Confederation forces queen Chrysalis said “I can’t believe you defeated not only my army but Kosmaras Zana.”
She looked down ‘this is a dark day for my empire” after she was captured she was brought before the 3 admirals she was still upset over the defeat. She asked “what is to become of me?”
Celestia said “after you declare your surrender you can either sign a treaty with the Confederation or you can return to Zaqar humiliated and empty hooved. Just so you know the Griffons have agreed to a treaty the choice is yours.”
Chrysalis thought for a moment then said “very well I will sign a treaty.”
After the treaty was signed Nightmare Moon and Discord were taken to the Dentar system. Magmarus was the 4th planet where Discord was placed deep inside a cave and the entrance was sealed. Nightmare Moon was taken to Fendaria the 7th planet and placed in a cave and the entrance sealed. Afterwards they returned to station Equestria later that evening Pinkie threw a huge victory party. Every pony and Griffin was having a good time and was looking forward to the new reign of peace.
