Twilight Sparkle 1
"Excuse me, miss Twilight. Might I bother you for a small favor?"
Twilight looked around to see the smokey-grey mare with a British accent walk through the door of Golden Oaks Library. At the moment, Twilight was looking through her bookshelves for books on BDSM and other strange sexual practices at the CMC's request. She was relieved that somepony had come by so she could stop searching for books on that particular subject.
"Oh, hello Octavia. I haven't seen you in here for a while." She came down from the ladder and walked over to the cello player of the Royal Canterlot Orchestra. Octavia usually didn't come in unless scouting for new musical pieces.
"Yes, good morning, Twilight. I came by to-" She was stopped short as her eyes landed on a small stack of books. The book cover on top showed a pony in an erotic position and the title How To Dominate Your Mare. Octavia could feel her face growing warm and breathing becoming strained. Twilight saw what Octavia was staring at and, with a quick flash of her horn, the book vanished.
"I'm so sorry about that. I didn't know I was going to have any visitors. I was just getting that book for a friend, I swear," Twilight said. Octavia's pupils shrank back down to normal size.
"It's quite alright. Just a little shock. I didn't figure that you were the kind of pony to have this sort of material in a public library," she started blushing again. "I know it's not really my place to ask this so feel free not to answer but, do you read those?"
Twilight stepped back in alarm. "Of course not! I read books based on scientific study and fields of expertise. I would never-" she trailed off.
Octavia lowered her head in shame. "Of course. I'm sorry."
"It's no problem. Just curiosity . Now, anything I can help you with?"
The cello player lifted her head. "Yes, as a matter of fact. I was wondering if you had any books on bow strokes, performance postures, and how to play complicated instruments with your eyes closed, like the professionals. Plus, I heard you got my previous request in so I came to pick them up."
"Of course. Feel free to look around while I get your books."
Octavia nodded and started walking around the library, looking at all the books, and occasionally scanning the titles or the contents. But being a musician for a living, nothing she picked up really held her attention for long. She was a little surprised though. It must have been because of Twilight's order from a friend that there were a lot of raunchy books and stories laying around that she, a sophisticated pony of Canterlot, would never touch. She picked up one in particular, 50 Shades Of Stallion, opened it to a random page, and threw it away in disgust. Her eyes had just scanned the most vulgar sentence she had ever run across. Why mares across Equestria found this book so interesting was beyond her.
She was saved from thinking about it any longer by the sound of Twilight returning.
"Here you are. I found some books you might find helpful, plus the ones you requested, and are already checked out for you. You're set to go. Anything else you need while you're here?" Twilight asked cheerfully, handing a bag full of books over to Octavia.
"No. But thank you, Twilight. I'm sure these books will help me improve my playing. Good night."
As the door closed behind Octavia, Twilight groaned in annoyance. Being this late, she had to close the library, and continue looking through her shelves for any more sexual books. Why do those three want these kinds of books anyway? Can't be cutie marks this time.

Octavia finally reached her house a half hour later. The day had been pleasantly warm, but the nights were getting colder due to fall approaching rapidly. In truth, the days should have been getting chillier, as well. She prepared herself as she pushed the door to her house open. Loud bass waves hit her as she walked in. It appeared that Vinyl was still hammering out her music. The barrier Twilight had put around their house due to complaints of the noise kept music from escaping, but not from inside. Octavia had asked Twilight to put one on her bedroom door as well so she could sleep if Vinyl decided to stay up late.
She let her saddlebags and bag of books hit the floor, and went to tell the DJ she was going to bed. She knocked on the door that was bulging out from the bass inside and opened it. With each beat, her hair was blown back, and she had to scream to make herself heard.
"Vinyl, I'm going to bed now, alright?!" she screamed, even then wondering if the white unicorn at the other end of the room could hear her.
"Wubtastic, dude!" the DJ replied, screaming back. Roughly translated, what she said was, "Got it, Octi."
"Do you need anything else before I bolt my door?!" the cellist bellowed.
"Got the beat down, yo!" (Translation: I'm good.)
"Fine! Knock on my door at 3:00 am again and I'll kick your flank so hard-" she stopped herself and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her, almost canceling the sound out. A slight ringing was left in her ears, but her throat was the main problem. Yelling like that at Vinyl every night really ripped up her throat; thankfully she wasn't a singer. But Vinyl had asked her when she moved in to let her know when she was heading to bed, and she had agreed.
She went into her room, canceling all noise in the house out completely. She changed into her night clothes and snuggled into her warm bed. Before closing her eyes, she thought a little longer about Twilight's extensive collection of sex books. Why did she have that many? Why did she have ANY in the first place? Octavia continued scanning the various positions of "the simplified Kama Sutra" with growing horror. She couldn't imagine any pony would want to do this. It all looked too painful and uncouth. Reading this book is uncouth, she thought. But then why am I still reading it? Chapter 6 was similar, but with positions that didn't look as strenuous on the body. At this point, she was done reading forward, and wanted to read the DIY section. She hated to admit it to herself, but she was feeling tense and wanted some relief, and she was almost certain Chapter 1 could help. She flipped back to the beginning of the first chapter and, as with many of the other chapters, there was a table of contents for the certain sections of the chapter. She looked down the short list of options: 1.1. Self Service; 1.2. Household Options; 1.3. Friends and Family. She decided that Section One would be the best because she didn't want to defile the items in her house, Vinyl would laugh if she said she needed help getting off (probably wouldn't hesitate to help, though), and her parents would have a heart attack if she called for that sort of help. She started reading the Self Service section and was appalled that there were this many ways to pleasure yourself with only your own hooves and nothing else. The mares in the locker room never mentioned these before and, upon further speculation, probably didn't know this many. She decided she'd try the first most common, the one that even she (and every mare) knew about but never tried herself. Octavia glanced out the window to see Celestia's sun peaking the top of Equestrian mountains. She shook her head in disbelief. She had been reading that book all night, and not even realized it! She looked back at Vinyl, who cocked her head to the side. "Thank you, Vinyl. I'll be down in a little bit. I just need to...readjust."
Vinyl smiled brightly and started pushing her cannon down the stairs, creating an audible THUD as the wheels hit each stair. She reappeared in the doorway and said, "Good book," (Translation: Good book) and ducked back out of sight.
Octavia looked up in shock and realized that How To Dominate Your Mare was still sitting open on the her nightstand. She quickly grabbed it and shoved it into a drawer of her nightstand. How could she have been so stupid as to leave it out in plain sight? At that moment, she heard the bass cannon downstairs and knew Vinyl was cleaning the dishes again. She groaned and got out of bed to begin another day.

Vinyl didn't say anything about the book that she had seen in Octavia's room, or she might have but couldn't be heard over the bass cannon blaring. She knew that it wasn't laying there by coincidence; she had seen what Octi was going to do before she knocked. She smiled to herself behind a poker face. Having received that particular book several times and having tried just about everything in it, Vinyl had decided that her vibrator wasn't enough to pique Octavia's interest in sex, so when the book had appeared in her room, she decided to see what Octi would make of it. Twilight smiled. "I figured I'd just wait for you to come get it. You come by once every two weeks anyway. Let's see what we have here." She bent down and started looking through the lower shelves.
Vinyl noticed this and was staring at the librarian's plot intently. Oh Twilight. To have your plot for one night would be a dream come true. So lush and soft. Twilight straightened up with a book in her magic.

The white DJ walked out of the library and stuffed the book into one of her saddlebags. Now for some items for Octi tonight. The barrel beeped and a section of ground in front of Vinyl was pulled down and slid away to reveal a set of steps leading down. Horn lit, she began her decent.
Vinyl had been down here plenty of times before and knew that nopony came down here without the proper amount of bits to buy something. The prices were set and non-negotiable. She came to a wooden door at the bottom of the stairs and knocked three times followed by two hoof scrapes. The window slid back shut and the door creaked open.
The room inside was dimly lit, lit only by a few red tinted lightbulbs, giving the place an ominous feel. Unknown to almost everypony, the reason Vinyl wore the glasses she had was to see better in this place. She had infused them with a magic to help her see in oddly lit places, such as this. She walked in and the door slammed behind her and all movement in the store stopped as they observed the newcomer before returning to business. The DJ looked back and forth at the few ponies and other races walking around. She didn't look for long as many of the ponies were disfigured, malnourished, or just plain ugly. Other creatures she glanced at couldn't be described because she wasn't sure whether they were supposed to look like that.
"Well, well. Vinyl Scratch, come back after all this time?" said a deep gruff voice off to her right. She glanced over to see the griffon who founded and ran the EBM.
She grinned and walked over. "Yeah, my roommate said no more visitors. It kinda slowed down my use for your merchandise. Real bummer."
"Damn it!" the griffon bellowed, slamming his clawed fist on the countertop, spilling a tin labeled Tips onto the floor. Bits and other foreign currency rolled every direction. Some of the customers looked over, but most just continued perusing the shelves of contraband.

Octavia sat at the table, staring at the shards of broken glass as Vinyl walked out the door with her saddlebags. Back to the library to get more of those books, she thought. I have to tell Twilight to restrict Vinyl from getting that kind of material. But she'll probably find a way anyway. She sighed and rose to start cleaning the glass pieces.
As she worked, she couldn't get what she had seen in that book out of her mind. The diagrams and descriptions, easy enough for a colt or filly to follow. And in a public place. And that friend Twilight had mentioned yesterday. Was it Vinyl? It seemed a little weird that she wasn't mentioned by name.
She shook her head, realizing her thoughts were all getting jumbled together without rhyme or reason. She took the dustpan with the broken glass and deposited the shrapnel into the trashcan. Beauty Brass was drying off her light cyan coat when there was a knock on the door. Who could that be? she thought to herself. She wrapped the towel around her waist and another around her light brown mane. Reaching the door, she looked out the peephole to find the distorted face of Octavia staring back. Beauty stepped back, undid the door chain, and opened the door for her fellow musician. The smoke-grey mare walked in and gave Beauty a small hug, and her friend returned the embrace.
"I can't believe I forgot that you were coming over today, Octi," Beauty said, calling Octavia by her pet name.
"I almost forgot myself. If it hadn't been for last night and this morning, I would have," Octavia replied.
Beauty looked over from drying off her mane, confused.
"It's nothing, never mind," Octavia said hurriedly. "I hope I didn't interrupt you from taking your shower."
"Oh, don't worry about that. I was just getting out when you rang the doorbell," the tuba player replied.
Octavia looked around. "Where's Frederick and Parish? I thought they would be here to consort with us."
Beauty called from the bathroom, "Fredrick is in Baltimare with family, and Parish had a bad case of the ponypox. He won't be available for another week or so. So, until, he's all better or Frederick gets back first, we're by ourselves."
The cellist trotted into Beauty's back room and grabbed her instrument. For some reason, she always felt a flood of energy and excitement when she got ready to play; must be part of the magic of her cutie mark. Beauty was already ready with her tuba when Octavia got back. "'Wizards In Winter' to start with, then?" Octavia asked as she rosined up her bow.
"Sure. Trans-Equestrian Orchestra is always a good way to start practice," Beauty replied, tuning her instrument. "I adjusted my tuba here," she patted the large instrument, "to play like a flute when I blow into it right."
Okay," Octavia said, standing up and positioning her cello against her body, "we'll start with Wizards In Winter, then Tracers, and then random after that."
"Got it," Beauty said, and blew the first note.

Three hours later, Octavia's arm was sore from so much bowing. She hadn't missed a single note, even on more complicated pieces like the 1812 Overture, but it still took a toll when one piece was done and Beauty went to the next piece without a break. True to her word, Beauty had indeed made Wizards In Winter work, making her tuba into a two-in-one instrument. Now that her brass could make higher pitched notes, the music they had always wanted to do was finally within their reach, and they took full advantage of it. But seeing as it was starting to get late, Octavia knew Vinyl would be getting hungry. She had promised that as long as Vinyl cleaned the dishes, she would cook.
"Well Beauty," Octavia said, giving a stretch and feeling some joints popping, "I should really be going now, and my arm has done all the bowing it can take."
"No problem, Octi. My mouth is pretty tired. I thought my lips would fail on that 27th song," the light cyan mare replied, making mouth gestures to get the blood back into her face. "So, should we meet for this again in three days? Knowing you, your arm should be recovered well before then."
Octavia snapped the clasps on her cello case shut. "Sounds like a date, then. I'll leave this here again. It's easier than hauling it back and forth every couple days. I'll be sure to bring a bottle of wine next time to celebrate 100 rehearsals."
"Wow. Has it really been that many times? It feels like we just started doing this."
"It feels like we just started doing this because we invited Parish and Frederick to join us as a group rehearsal just a couple weeks ago," Octavia called from the back room.
"I guess. Well, I'll see you in a couple days then," Beauty said as Octavia reached the door.
The cellist waved as the door cut off her view of the tuba player. She sighed and walked down the street in the direction of home. Home. Same old boring routine. Wake up, eat with Vinyl, clean up another broken glass, sleep, cook dinner, and sleep again. I need a hobby. Within a couple minutes, she reached her front door. As she opened it, the first thing she realized was that there was no sound.
"Strange. Usually Vinyl would have the volume cranked up at this time."
