//-------------------------------------------------------// If Only -by chankl2- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Final Decision //-------------------------------------------------------// The Final Decision My resistance is crumbling outside. I don’t think that I can last much longer. However…my purpose here is done. Isn’t that right, dear sister? Watching you struggle in that magical prison gives off a sinister feeling of joy to myself, a wild happiness that courses through my veins like a glittering inferno of darkness. A happiness…the feeling of satire that wasn’t present before. It is honestly, sad to say, much stronger, much more powerful that the happiness that you have provided me, though I still do miss it now and then. If only you managed to keep it that way. Remember when our parents were still alive and well? Of course you do…you were the one that got them killed in the first place. Mummy? Daddy? I lost my precious little doll in the depths of the Tartarus…could you go get it for me? Please? ………………………………………. And of course they did that for you. Of course they managed to deliver the stupid doll in their last dying breaths as they escaped from the hell inside that prison. Of course you, were seen as the victim, and not them. I was too young at that time, but I still cried when I saw the empty faces of our mother and father, unlike you. You…you and your expression of silent protest, where other ponies started to admire you for your mental strength and leadership even at such a young age. Only I knew that you never cared. Just like a true princess, you were a tyrant at birth. Grasping power over Equestria in your bloody hooves, eliminating all possible means of opposition not just with magic…but dark magic. Magic that even I avoided when fighting Sombra. But then, as the ponies started to fear their immortal princess rather than love her, you suddenly changed. No longer violent and aggressive, you adapted a passive and diplomatic policy towards every matter. You sought for a way to defeat evil without fighting, a solution without an answer. And of course, like always, you succeeded. You found the Tree of Harmony. And upon being brought to life for the first time since a century it automatically bestowed it’s ownership to us. And with it we defeated a villain peacefully for the first time. Discord was turned to stone, not crushed, obliterated, or tortured…but kept alive under stasis. Ponies from everywhere started to love you again. Only I saw the madness inside you, and over time it stirred up so much hatred that I became that monster instead of you, turning into the scapegoat that you had desired to put all the blame towards. Banishing me to the moon was perhaps the happiest thing that you could have ever done. There was no one to bother you anymore. Not for a thousand years. If only I knew about your plans. When the spell broke, I rushed in back to earth; eager to stop you and to reverse all possible damages you had done in the last thousand years. Without thinking I captured you easily, as you were unguarded that night in the castle, the guards useless as I seeped through them as a dark mist. However my initial success made me overconfident. So confident in fact, that when I learned that Ponyville was holding a celebration in your honor, I immediately went there and gloated like a buffoon, challenging the townspeople to stop me. What I didn’t know was that a unicorn would gather 5 others would be foolish enough to try. I ignored them at first…but them I learned the truth. The unicorn was your student, your pupil. Imagine my fear when I heard that through the window outside that treehouse. You were training your own personal students. And by how she knew about the Elements of Harmony, I knew that I had to stop them. Without the power of the Ellipse and the dark transformation I could not hold you under that spell, and the Elements of Harmony were the key towards that. I failed. Your student and her friends were able to outsmart me, and you managed to escape. Underpowered and weakened…I had to surrender. Honestly, I thought for sure that you would kill me behind the scenes, after the gallant celebration of my return. But you didn’t. When I woke up the next morning my head wasn’t on a casket or a spike, but resting on a soft pillow. You weren’t holding a whip or that scepter on your hooves, but a cup of tea. I have to admit that I was confused at first, but still on guard. Then, you explained everything. You apologized, you wept, and you basically surrendered yourself to me and begged for my forgiveness for your actions in the past. For the first time since I saw you, you were sad, genuinely said. If only I wasn’t that naïve. Yes, I believed you. I placed a hard but slowly building trust in you for the first time. And in the beginning you really did surprise me. I saw what you did to Equestria. You didn’t destroy or burn it, but rather give it the chance to prosper and evolve, as I had always wanted it to be. There were new towns, countryside’s, even native ponies roaming around the region, so different and so much variety compared to the old two classes: Corrupt Canterlot nobles and the poor peasants in the farms. And don’t get me started on the sky. You finally allowed the sun to shine brightly over the entire area without burning down forests. Even the night was controlled well by you, however, I soon found that the children weren’t. I asked the same question I begged when we were small, and you accepted. I couldn’t believe it. Not only did you restore my power over the control of the night, but you allowed me to enter the dreams of other ponies. I spent most months traversing in the thoughts of foals in the night, exploring their fears and helping to conquer them. However, due to the fear of my old image my sister told me to stay hidden under the shadow. I didn’t mind, as I was still helping those ponies in need. However you soon saw that I was still full of distrust and lonely, as most of the nights I spent were either with you, beside you, or alone, where not a single word was spoken between us except when necessary. You told me to visit the town that I had bragged in, and asked me to act in an innocent and childish way to convince the townspeople that I was good inside. They did judge me at first, but your “student”, Twilight Sparkle, actually helped my image to be restored among the population, and her actions were all genuine and not regal, as you had presented her. Twilight was perhaps the first pony to make me chuckle since… Days and Nights came after another, as I remained impassive in the castle, where I indulged myself in the nightmares of ponies during the night, and slept during the day. Then one day you told me that your niece was getting married to your student’s brother, and asked me to come and assist in protecting the castle. It was then that I started to suspect you again. Before you told me that I had to socialize with the other ponies, but now you wouldn’t even let me participate in the celebration of a wedding. Before I could protest further, everything went dark. I woke up in one of the castle rooms at the sound of an explosion. Screams of terror, fear, and despair. I tried to open the windows to see what was going outside, but you had magically locked every source of escape. Before I could blast the door open, a pink shield suddenly went through the interior of the room and destroyed the magic that was constraining me, allowing me to flee from the trap. I wanted to confront you at first, but seeing you in the center of the public, along with Twilight and her friends, attacking you would be suicide. Once again I had to don a fake smile and pretend to enjoy the celebrations when in reality, I was fuming. Just what were you planning? After the wedding ended, I shouted at you, screamed my fury at your pride. That was when you told me that sentence. “It’s not for me. It’s for Twilight.” Twilight? Your student? Why would you sacrifice your own image to the changeling queen just so Twilight and her friends could do something? I pressed for more information, and you delivered. You told me that this was all a plan to make her into a princess, more specifically, an alicorn like us. The reason you gave all those tasks, the reason you treated me like dirt, was because you wanted to pass on the throne to…a simple unicorn? You said the same thing for Cadance! Full-blooded alicorns like us are immortal! What’s the point of having a temporary princess who will soon disappear like the others? I yelled those questions at you. You just smiled. Eventually I was forced to comply, though I was not unhappy with your decision. Even Twilight was able to see my expression, though I quickly hid it. It was not long before she had her own castle, and once again, I had to act “normal”. Tea parties at 8, royal meetings at 10…all so dull and boring with the same ponies over and over and over… It was by then that I decided the plan that I am doing today. Since Celestia thinks that it’s “fun” to have temporary princess take the throne as her students and repeat the cycle, I made the decision to end it. The only way I could break this is if I...eliminated the last two remaining pure alicorns in Equestria known. Twilight, I address you now and formally. When you watch me kill Celestia, you will stop me and defeat me, and hopefully either banish or destroy my presence in this world for at least another thousand years. When you find this letter in the “evil lair” that I should have described obviously of…know this that Celestia was never the mentor that you believed her to be. Take care of Equestria once we are gone with Cadance. That is all I have to say. Perhaps you will sustain the throne and pass on for generations. Be the princess and sister to take care of Equestria that my sister never was. Long live the queen. ___________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________ _______¶¶¶________________________________________¶¶_______ ______¶¶¶¶¶_____________________________________¶¶¶¶¶______ ________¶¶¶¶___________________________________¶¶¶¶________ ______¶¶¶_¶¶¶_________________________________¶¶¶_¶¶¶______ ______¶¶¶¶_¶¶_________________________________¶¶_¶¶¶¶______ ______¶¶_¶¶_¶¶_______________________________¶¶_¶¶¶¶¶______ ______¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶_______________________________¶¶¶¶_¶¶¶______ _______¶¶¶¶¶¶¶_______________________________¶¶¶¶¶¶¶_______ _________¶¶¶¶¶___¶¶¶¶¶¶_____________¶¶¶¶¶¶___¶¶¶¶¶_________ __________¶¶¶¶__¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶_________¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶__¶¶¶¶__________ ___________¶¶¶_¶¶¶______¶¶¶_____¶¶¶______¶¶¶_¶¶¶___________ ______¶¶¶__¶¶¶_¶¶¶_______¶¶¶___¶¶¶_______¶¶¶_¶¶¶__¶¶¶______ ______¶_¶¶__¶¶_¶¶____¶¶¶__¶¶___¶¶__¶¶¶____¶¶¶¶¶__¶¶_¶______ ______¶¶_¶__¶¶_¶¶____¶¶¶¶__¶¶_¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶¶___¶¶_¶¶__¶_¶¶______ ______¶¶¶¶¶__¶_¶¶___¶¶¶¶¶__¶¶_¶¶__¶¶¶¶¶___¶¶_¶¶__¶¶¶¶______ _________¶¶__¶¶¶¶¶___¶¶____¶¶_¶¶____¶¶___¶¶¶¶¶__¶¶_________ _________¶¶¶__¶_¶¶___¶¶¶___¶¶_¶¶___¶¶¶___¶¶¶¶¶_¶¶¶_________ __________¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶___¶¶¶¶¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶¶¶¶___¶¶¶¶¶_¶¶¶__________ __________¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶__¶¶¶¶¶___¶¶¶¶¶___¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶__________ _________¶¶¶¶¶¶__¶¶¶¶¶_______________¶¶¶¶¶__¶¶¶¶¶¶_________ ________¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶_____________¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶__¶¶________ ________¶¶¶¶_¶¶¶__¶¶_¶¶¶¶_________¶¶¶¶_¶¶__¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶________ _________¶¶¶_¶¶¶_¶¶¶__¶¶¶¶_______¶¶¶¶__¶¶¶_¶¶¶_¶¶¶_________ ____________¶¶¶¶¶¶_____¶¶¶¶¶___¶¶¶¶¶_____¶¶¶¶¶¶____________ ____________¶¶¶__¶¶¶¶¶__¶¶¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶¶__¶¶¶____________ ____________¶¶¶__¶¶¶_¶¶_¶¶¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶¶_¶¶_¶¶¶__¶¶¶____________ ____________¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶__¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶__¶¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶___________ ____________¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶__¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶_¶¶¶____________ ____________¶¶¶¶_¶¶_¶¶_¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶_¶¶_¶¶_¶¶¶¶____________ _____________¶¶¶¶¶___¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶___¶¶¶¶¶_____________ ______________¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶_¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶______________ ________________¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶___¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶¶________________ ___________________¶¶¶¶¶¶¶_______¶¶¶¶¶¶¶___________________ ___________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________
