The young Pegasus mare stepped out of the train and gasped as she looked around. Manehattan was absolutely huge, just as Wise Crack said!
Wise Crack was an elderly Pegasus Pony of the village next to Neighagra Falls, one of Equestria's most magnificent tourist attractions, and he's ironically very serious as well as wise despite his name.
Wise Crack had told the mare along with all the other ponies of the village tales of how he traveled all of Equestria and even beyond. He had many souvenirs to prove it, and she has seen every last one if them, completely awestruck. The all-knowing pony had inspired the mare to travel all over Equestria herself, and she decided to start with the grandest city in the land.
"Hey, watch your step, lady!" someone suddenly snapped, yanking the mare out of her thoughts. She yelped when she realized she had stepped on another mare's tail.
"I-I'm so sorry, it was an accident!" the mare apologized quickly, flapping her wings and taking to the sky, only to bump into a stallion Pegasus.
"Watch it, tramp!" the pony snarled. The mare gulped and flew off as quickly as she could.
Ponies in the Neighagra Village were never this rude to one another, and of course all these sour behaviors and hostile glares were alien to the newcomer, not to mention incredibly intimidating. Despite growing up in such a loving and tolerating village, she was still quite shy around new ponies.
The mare yelped when she bumped into yet another Pegasus, a mare with a hot pink coat and dark red hair, and a bag full of art materials fell to the ground.
"Oh, no, I'm so sorry!" the orange mare wailed, landing beside the scattered supplies and quickly putting them back in the bag. "I didn't mean to, honest! Just please don't yell..."
The pink Pegasus landed next to the orange one and gave her a confused look. "Why would I yell? It was clearly an accident. I wasn't looking where I was going, either; it's my fault."
"No, it's my fault," the orange pony argued. "I've been bumping into ponies ever since I got here. I'm not used to such a crowded city."
"There's no shame in that. Say, since you're new here, would you like to stay at my place?"
The orange mare shot the friendly pony a shocked look, only to subside it as she glanced into her blue eyes. They were the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen; most colors she had seen were very dark and dim colors and she herself had been thoughtfully blessed with bright eyes as well. She could've sworn she felt her cheeks grow warmer than usual.
"Is that a yes?" the pink mare pushed on, snapping the orange one out of her thoughts.
"O-Oh! Y-Yes, please, thank you," she stammered. Before her acquaintance could take to the sky with her bag full of supplies wrapped firmly around her forearm, she quickly added, "What's your name?"
"Oh, where are my manners? Sorry about that. My name's Spectrum Fireworks," the Pegasus smiled.
"Spectrum Fireworks..." the orange mare sighed, almost dreamily. "What a beautiful name."
"Thanks. What's yours?"
"Um... I don't think you wanna know actually... Some ponies give me weird looks while others try to stay as far away from me as possible because of my name."
"I won't do that. Please tell me."
"Well... If you insist... My name's Tickle Torture."
Spectrum Fireworks blinked for a few moments before bursting out giggling.
"Great... If they don't run or look at me weird they'll laugh at me instead..." Tickle Torture thought bitterly.
"I'm not laughing at you," Spectrum Fireworks spoke after her giggles subsided. Tickle Torture could've sworn she'd seen the pink mare's cheeks grow the tiniest bit of darker pink. "I think it's a cute name."
"C-Cute?" Nopony needed to tell her that her cheeks were now a deep red.
Looking embarrassed, Spectrum Fireworks dismissed the shocked reply and flew up. "A-Anyway, wanna head to my place?"
"Oh. S-Sure, sounds good." Tickle Torture followed her new friend, making sure not to bump into anypony else.
"Here we are," Fireworks smiled as she unlocked the door to her apartment. Tickle walked in after her and gasped when she saw all the beautiful drawings and crafts and everything else in the like.
"Wow, Fireworks, did you make all these?" the orange mare asked. "These are all so beautiful!"
"I did, and thanks," Fireworks smiled, flying into the kitchen. "Would you like anything to eat? You can tell me about yourself over an apple pie.
"Yes, please, thank you," Tickle grinned.
A few minutes later, Fireworks walked into the living room balancing two plates on her wings as if she's been doing it all her life. She placed the plates on the coffee table, each holding a slice of apple pie She and Tickle sat down on the couch and began to eat.
"So, where do you come from?" Fireworks finally asked after eating half her pie.
Tickle swallowed her mouthful before responding. "I come from a village next to Neighagra Falls."
"Neighagra Falls? I've always dreamed of going there! Ponies say that they're the second most amazing falls in Equestria, the first being Rainbow Falls! You actually live next to it?"
"Yeah, along with a lot of other ponies. The village itself is kinda boring, though, and it's constantly wet. I haven't felt hard ground under my hooves in ages! Not to mention the ponies themselves are kinda dark and bland in both color and personality. I was lucky to have the recessive gene of bright and colorful."
"You certainly are bright and colorful," Fireworks agreed. "And what's your special talent? I see your cutie mark looks like a gray feather and some rope."
"Y-Yeah... My talent is tickling ponies to help cheer them up because everypony knows laughter is the best medicine, but it really creeps ponies out sometimes..." Tickle admitted shamefully. "Actually, I used to be called Tickle Fight until I ended up getting too carried away in a tickle fight and got my cutie mark in tickle torturing. Even though it's all for fun, I still don't like it to this day..."
"I'm really sorry that you don't like your talent..." Fireworks apologized. "I can't imagine getting a cutie mark that you didn't like."
"Well, it's still great and all, but it kinda makes me feel... well... creepy..."
"You should never think of yourself or your talent like that!" Fireworks suddenly exclaimed. "Your talent makes up who you are, and I know that all the ponies back at the village love you just the way you are. If you don't like yourself, who else will?"
"That... actually makes a lot of sense," Tickle admitted, looking up at her friend and smiling thankfully. "Thanks, Fireworks. I'm so glad I bumped into when I did."
"Me, too. You're a very nice pony, and I hope to get to know you better." The pink mare flew into the air and handed a hoof to Tickle. "C'mon, it's time for bed. You can sleep with me tonight. I... don't have a guest bed, so... Well, I mean, what harm is there in sharing beds with another mare?" Tickle wasn't imagining things this time; she could definitely see that Fireworks' cheeks had grown darker in color in a blush.
She blushed as well and took her hoof before flying up to meet her level. "I'd like that, Spectrum Fireworks. Thank you. And maybe after my visit I can let you come back with me to see Neighagra Falls."
"That would be a dream come true!" Fireworks squealed, spinning around in midair. She held onto Tickle Torture's hoof and flew close to her, nearly nuzzling her as the two ponies made their way into the bedroom.
And as they flew on, Tickle Torture realized without a doubt that she had developed not only a friendship with the mare, but also a crush. And she knew Spectrum Fireworks returned the same feelings.
Author's Note
Here's my very first MLP shipping fic! Tickle Torture is my OC - or rather my Ponysona - while Spectrum Fireworks is my girlfriend's Ponysona. This is sorta a gift for her.
