Don't Be a Grumpy Pants
Load Full StoryNext ChapterAria rolled over in her bed as the alarm clock went off. 'Beep Beep Beep' The noise seemed to gradually get louder the more Aria tried to ignore it. She jumped out of her bed and threw the alarm across the room as she growled loudly. The alarm broke as it hit the wall with a loud "thud". This isn't usually how Aria starts her mornings but she can already tell this morning will be worse than any other.
Aria sluggishly trudged down the long hallway to the bathroom. She turned the water on and stared in the mirror. "Gee, I look worse than usual," she said sarcastically to herself in the mirror.
Aria squirted her pastel green mint toothpaste on her purple toothbrush. Silence fell throughout the house as Aria sluggishly brushed her teeth. It was a strange feeling when Adagio and Sonata were not bothering her. Aria examined her hairbrush to find a glob of blue hair in it. "Sonata!" Aria yelled.
Sonata jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom. "What?"
"Did you use my hairbrush?"
Sonata shook her head in confusion. "You can't lie to me, you are the only person here with blue hair! Nobody else could have used it!" Aria yelled.
"You have some blue hair," Sonata said.
"It's teal!" Aria yelled in frustration.
Adagio sluggishly walked in the bathroom. "Can you quiet down? I'm trying to sleep."
Aria jumped back in reaction to Adagio's crooked posture and unkempt hair. Adagio stood in the doorway rubbing her eyes. Aria looked up at Adagio's hair which was different than usual. Her hair was blue with dark blue streaks. She looked more like Sonata but with fluffy hair.
"See it wasn't me," Sonata said to Aria.
Aria grunted in frustration and retreated to the kitchen. "Stop dying my hair when I'm asleep!" Aria could hear Adagio yelling at Sonata in the bathroom. Aria opened the cabinet and examined the items inside to find something to eat. Her stomach began to growl at the sight of all the food. "Looks like I'm the one stuck cooking this morning," she said to herself.
Aria set a whisk on the counter and went in the fridge for some milk. As Aria mixed the batter and turned on the stove top. She set the pan on the stove top and poured the batter onto it. The smell of pancakes quickly filled the air and Aria's stomach began to growl even louder. "Now where is the spatula?" Aria said to herself.
Aria rummaged through all of the cabinets and under the sink but she couldn't find the spatula. The smell of smoke slowly filled the air. "Oh crap," Aria said under her breath.
Sonata and Adagio quickly ran to the kitchen and saw a giant fire. "Don't worry I will put it out," Sonata said.
Sonata dashed to the oven and blew on the fire. "Sonata don't-" Adagio and Aria started.
As Sonata blew more and more on the fire it got bigger."Why would you blow on it? You made it worse!" Aria and Adagio yelled.
"That's what I do to put out those little candles on birthday cakes," Sonata said.
The fire quickly spread throughout the whole kitchen. Aria and Adagio ran to the door but Sonata ran to the bathroom. "What are you going?" Aria yelled.
"I need to grab something important," Sonata yelled.
Aria and Adagio ran out the door as the sound of alarms wailed throughout the house. A few seconds later Sonata came running out the door. "What did you need to get?" Aria asked Sonata.
Sonata pulled out Aria's brush from her pocket. "I thought you might want this," Sonata said while staring at Aria's messy hair.
Aria's face flushed red with furry. "Why would I want it now!? It has a clump of Adagio's hair in it!" Aria yelled.
As the house kitchen burned, firefighters came rushing into the house to put out the fire. The three watched for about five minutes as the firefighters worked to put out the blazing kitchen. Soon a firefighter came out of the house with an object in his hand. "We found this in the oven." The firefighter pulled out one of Aria's shirts.
"My shirt! Why was it in the oven?" Aria asked.
"I was trying to clean it," Sonata said.
"The washer is on the other side of the hallway," Adagio said.
"Oh," Sonata grabbed the charred shirt from the firefighter and read the tag on the inside of the shirt, "It said dry-clean only."
Adagio shook her head. "Next time I'm not giving you the responsibility of cleaning."
Aria groaned and collapsed on the ground in defeat.
