//-------------------------------------------------------// The disappearance of the queen -by Midnight Note- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: You don't look like no changeling //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: You don't look like no changeling I landed about two miles from Ponyville, unto a farm with an orange mare staring me down.  "So you going to clean that mess you left back there," the orange mare said.  "Oh, right sorry about that, didn't exactly plan on that landing," I said giving a foolish grin in the process.  After I got up, and dusted myself off, the orange mare held a hoof to me, picked me up, and handed me a broom.  "Miss, what should I sweep up for you," I said with an eager smile. "Glad your so eager to work, can you sweep the barn you put a hole into," The mare said holding a hoof to the barn.  "Before I do the sweeping, can I get your name," I said.  "My name is Applejack, pleasure to meet you," Applejack said.  "I'm Midnight Note, the pleasure is all mine," I said.  The orange mare got her own broom to help me sweep.  "Miss Applejack, you don't need to help me sweep, I can sweep myself," I said.  Nonsense, I always help someone who could use it, especially when it involves my farm," Applejack said with a smile.  "Alright miss, but it was my own mistake," I said.  (several minutes of sweeping later).  "Alright looks like we're done," Applejack said while wiping the sweat from her face.  "So, Applejack what do you do here," I said.  "I fix up the farm, buck the apples, and other tasks that need doing on the farm," Applejack said.  "What did you do before you crashed into the barn," Applejack said chuckling to herself.  "I used to be the head musician and servant of Queen Chrysalis," I said.  "Queen Chrysalis!" Applejack shouted.  "You mean the queen that attempted to kill my friends, the princess, and myself," Applejack stated.  "Yes the Queen Chrysalis, of the changelings," I said confused at applejack's reaction.  "I have to go," Applejack said.  "Alright, but was it something I told you that shocked you so bad," I said confused.  "No, its nothing, I just need to talk with a friend," Applejack said leaving.  "Goodbye," I said quietly.  As she left, I decided to take a look around the farm.  "Intruder," A young filly said while bucking my stomach.  "Ow, that really hurt, young filly," I said as I got up from the ground.  "Your an intruder, you've come to steal the doll my brother gave to me," the filly said.  "Hey mister, I see you don't have a cutie mark on your flank," the filly said.  "I don't little miss, I can't actually, I'm a changeling and we can't form natural cutie marks like you do," I said.  "What do you mean natural cutie mark" The filly said.  "I mean they can't be formed from natural talents, I can only form a cutie mark by changing my body structure to add that feature," I said, clearly seeing the fillies boredom. "Mister, whats your name," the filly said.  "I am Midnight Note, and yours," I said smiling at her.  "I'm Applebloom, sister to the king of the crop Applejack," Applebloom said.  "Yeah I just spoke to her, she kinda ran off though," I said giving a false smile.  As I was speaking to Applebloom, her sister came back with 5 other friends.  The one with the Rainbow colored hair, approached me and kicked me in the face.  "Ah what was that for," I said wiping my face with my hoof.  "Changeling, you came to come and kill us again did you," The rainbow haired pony said charging another kick.  "Wait Sugarcube, this changeling is different, he didn't attack me when we first met," Applejack said.  "So, the changeling could just be waiting to prepare an attack on us," The rainbow haired pony said.  "I swear that didn't plan an attack when I got here," I said as I took a step back.  "Then why are you here, sir?" A purple colored pony said to me.  "I'm looking for queen Chrysalis, she suddenly left yesterday, and the kingdom is in chaos," I said.  "I see, that makes sense, but we don't know anything about her disappearance," the purple colored pony said.  "Oh, but my friend told me that I could seek help in this town," I said disappointed.  "Look, I don't know if you know, but we don't have a good history with your queen," the purple colored pony said.  "Yeah I know, but I don't know what to do, the Queen has been acting weird ever since she lost at Canterlot and," I was stopped by the White colored pony putting her hoof on my mouth.  The pony removed her hoof and said, "darling, I bet you we can help you find your queen."  "Rarity what are you doing," the purple haired pony whispered to her friend.  "Twilight, I want to help him find his queen," Rarity whispered to Twilight.  "But don't you know that she was the one that nearly killed us all," Twilight said.  "Yes, but Discord also tried to kill us, but we let him in," Rarity whispered to Twilight.  "Fine, but I want him to live with me, He must know a lot about the changelings, and creatures near the area," Twilight whispered to Rarity.  "Alright, darling, if your so sure," Rarity whispered to Twilight.  "Alright, so we have decided, Midnight Note, you will be living with me," Twilight said.  "Alright, I'm fine with that," I said.  "But, on the condition that you share knowledge that you've accumulated being the head servant to the queen of changelings," Twilight said.  "I can share my knowledge with you, but can you promise you'll help me find Chrysalis," I said.  "I promise," Twilight said putting her hoof on her chest. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Is there a book for that //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Is there a book for that After I left the farm with the other ponies, we all went to Twilight's library.  As we were walking to the library, Twilight was asking questions with an eager grin as I answered them.  "So when were you born," Twilight said.  "I don't know my exact date of birth, as all changelings are born from a pond," I said.  "Why is Chrysalis your queen," Twilight asked.  "She was the one that gave birth to the original changelings," I said.  "I hate to ruin your conversation but we're here," Rarity said.  "Whoa, this was not what I was expecting," I said.  "Yeah this is the ponyville Library, and my house," she said.  As I entered the house a smell of paper and flame residue filled the room.  When I looked around the house, not a speck of dust entered my sight.  "Twilight, do you do the cleaning around here, because whoever does is splendid at it," I said in glee.  "No I actually let my assistant Spike take care of that," Twilight said blushing.  "Yo, Twilight I organized the library books like you asked," Spike said. "Is that a dragon, I've never seen one up close like this," I said a little too overenthusiastic.  As I was marveling at the dragon, he belched out a message.  "Oh sorry, this usually doesn't happen at this time of day," the dragon said as he was frantically looking for a tissue.  "No worries my good dragon, I keep a handkerchief with me," I said with a grin.  I levitated the message to Twilight, while Spike cleaned his mouth with the handkerchief.  As Twilight read the letter, I decided to take a look around the Library.  "Are you the only one who lives here, do you know who the original owner was," I said dusting off a few of the books.  "I don't know who the original owner is, but this letter is from the princess, I'm sure she knows," Twilight said rolling the letter back up.  "Alright, but can I borrow a quill and some paper," I said.  "Sure, just take these," she said handing me the small stack of paper, with a neatly organized ink and quill on top.  The letter read, Dear Princess Celestia, Do you have any knowledge on the original owner  "So Twilight, how exactly do I mail this," I said levitating the letter with my horn.  "Oh right, forgot you can do that," I said blushing.  "So, while we wait for her reply, we can have some tea and talk about the species you've encountered," Twilight said preparing the tea.  "Sure, which species do you want to know about," I said.  "lets just start with the changelings themselves," Twilight said pouring the tea into the cups.  We talked for hours before we realized how late it was becoming.  "Well Twilight, its getting late, I better get some sleep," I said with a silent yawn.  "Alright, but what a out the letter," Twilight said showing me the letter.  I levitated the letter and opened it.  As I read the letter I got more and more interested.  "Twilight you would probably be more interested than me," I said with a smile.  "What is it that got you so interested," Twilight said.  I levitated the letter to Twilight.  "Is this who I think it is," Twilight said ecstatic.  "Its, the original creator of the changelings, StarSwirl the bearded," I said excited.  "Wait StarSwirl created the changelings," Twilight said confused.  "Yeah he created them in secret, never letting anyone but the original changeling know," I said.  "And that changeling was Queen Chrysalis," Twilight said curious.  "Yes, she was the first of our kind," I said.  "How was she born," Twilight said. "I'll save it for another time, tonight I'm to tired to tell you," I said. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: A message from my dreams //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: A message from my dreams My eyes fluttered open, when I tried to move I felt like I can't.  "So, you're finally awake," a voice called in the darkness.  "Who are you, what do you want with me," I said trying to fling my body forward.  "Don't even try it you're not in the world of the living right now," the voice said.  "What are you talking about," I said screaming.  "Calm yourself, make a proper example of yourself," She said with an overwhelming presence.  "Your right, this is a disgusting example, but I'm not in the real world now am I," I said trying to match her aura.  "The gears spinning in that head of yours, because even then you're still wrong," She said chuckling to yourself.  "What do you mean, there's no way that I can be this far in the forest from the library?" I said confused.  "I never said you left, this is a dream," She said coming out of the shadows.  "Luna," I said shocked. "Yes young stallion,I came here to deliver a message from Princess Celestia," Luna said releasing me from my invisible prison.  "so an urgent situation I presume," I said getting back on my feet.  "Yes, she wants you at the castle immediately," Luna said rising like an angel with an ego.  "Oh, the great mighty Luna, demoted to royal mailmare I see," I said chuckling to myself.  "Why do you respond to me with such disdain," Luna said.  "Oh, it's almost like you trapped me in an invisible prison for most of this dream," I said.  "Just go and speak to Celestia, at once," Luna said as I was thrown out of my dream.  I awoke to see Twilight trying to apply a wet towel on my head.  "What are you doing Twilight," I said getting back up.  "You should rest, you've been sweating all night," Twilight pulling my blanket back on me.  "No, I must go to Canterlot castle at once," I said pulling the blankets off.  "Why the castle," Twilight said confused.  "I just need to go as fast as I can," I said teleporting to the castle. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5: My visit with the Princess //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5: My visit with the Princess When I arrived at the castle gates, a guard stopped me aiming his spear.  "Citizen, we don't allow magic past this point," the guard said pointing at the large contraption.  "Wait, I got a message from the princess to meet her immediately," I said.  "Even if you did, you still need to go through the machine," the guard said as a bright light shined behind him.  The princess looked at the guard, "Dismissed,".  "Yes princess," the guard said backing off.  "So did you need the flashy entrance princess," I said.  "No,, but I know how do get other peoples attention," Celestia said chuckling.  "So, why did you summon me hear," I said.  "Lets talk in the castle, we don't want others to know of your true identity," Celestia said deactivating the entrance.  "alright, but I don't know why I need to keep my identity secret, when I already look like a pony," I said walking through the entrance.  As we walked through the castle halls, we came to large metal door.  "So, will the torture start now or later," I said sarcastically.  "No, but  you can do it yourself if you want," Celestia said opening the large door.  "So what did you put inside this metal prison of yours," I said slowly entering the room.  "This room has something to do with your Queens disappearance," Celestia said closing the door.  As I walked down the dark hallway, a small light started to emerge.  "What is that," I said walking towards the destroyed laboratory.  "Your Queen came to destroy all the evidence of her creation," Celestia said levitating a small photo in front of me.  "Why is Chrysalis in this picture, with you and Luna," I said nearly breaking into tears.  "She was never patient zero, she helped create patient zero," Celestia said putting a hoof on my shoulder.  "Then, she's gone to find this patient zero," I said getting myself composed.  "Yeah she wants to destroy him, so that nobody can find out about him," Celestia said levitating a map over to me.  "A map? why," I said confused.  "It shows the last known locations of patient zero," Celestia said.  "Isn't he a changeling, why would he be in big cities in changeling form," I said confused.  "Patient Zero, can't change his color, so he's easy to spot," Celestia said showing me a picture of his face.  "So, I have to find this Changeling, and get Chrysalis back," I said.  "Yep that's the plan," Celestia said.  "Why are you helping me," I said looking at Celestia.  "Because, Twilight wanted to help you," Celestia said pointing at the door.  "Midnight, I never turn down a friendship problem," Twilight said emerging from the doorway.  "Twilight, you didn't need to get involved in all of this," I said.  "No, you are my friend, I want to help out your situation," Twilight said standing her ground.  "Fine, but please keep yourself safe," I said hesitantly.  "thanks, but I think I should pack for this journey," Twilight said. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 6: Manehattan //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 6: Manehattan "Twilight are you ready to go," I said going upstairs.  "Goodbye Spike, I'll be back as soon as I can," Twilight whispered to Spike giving him a kiss goodbye.  "You really take care of him don't you," I said getting off the ladder.  "Of course, he's like family to me, I've been taking care of him since he was just born," Twilight said looking back at Spike.  "Twilight lets go, we need to catch this guy, before he gets back on the move," I said putting a hoof on her shoulder.  "OK, lets go," Twilight said getting back up.  "Are first stop, is Manehattan," I said looking at the map.  "Alright what are we waiting for, lets go," Twilight said getting down the ladder.  (At the train stop) "Are you sure you want to go this alone Twilight" Applejack said concerned.  "Don't worry AJ, I'll do fine," Twilight said.  "Why can't we go with you," Pinkie said with a flat mane.  "Girls, you can't come with me, I have to do this myself," Twilight said.  "Why not?" Rainbow Dash said flying over AJ.  "Rainbow don't, now Twilight I don't know whats going on, but I wish you good luck," Applejack said pulling Rainbow Dash down.  "Thanks you guys, but I have to go, goodbye," Twilight said as the train started up.  "Goodbye, Twilight," The girls said as Twilight left.  (On the train ride), "Do you miss them," I said as Twilight looked out the window.  "Of course I miss them, Don't you miss your queen," Twilight said staring back at me.  "Yeah, but its my duty to care for my queen, you don't need to care for your friends," I said.  "Its not my duty to care for them, but its my choice, you would never understand," Twilight said facing away from me.  "Maybe I won't understand the friendship you hold for your friends, but maybe one day I will learn what it means to truly care for someone," I said.  "I'm going to help you, but I also want to teach you about friendship at the same town," Twilight said taking my hoof.  "Sorry, but I want some quiet for now," I said using a knockout spell on Twilight.  (Getting off the train), "Wait, Wait, where are you going," Twilight said running at me.  "You weren't supposed to exit the train," I said trying to pry away from her.  "Is it because you want me to go back," Twilight said confused.  "I want you to go because somebody is waiting for you," I said.  "Maybe, but I want to help you find the person that's waiting for you!" Twilight said.  "Why? this should be my mission to undertake," I said trying to convince her to leave.  "It may be your mission, but that doesn't mean you have to go alone," Twilight said standing her ground.  "Fine, I guess your not going to leave huh, well then lets keep on going shall we," I said walking into Manehattan.  "We shall, so lets go," Twilight said following me.  (The center of Manehattan), "So where should we go first Midnight," Twilight said nudging my shoulder.  "First we should look around the different shops to get some information on the changeling," I said looking at the map.  "I swear I saw this changeling walking down the street," A voice called in the distance.  "Wait, where did you find this changeling," I asked the man.  "Wait you believe me," The old stallion said almost crying.  "Yes we believe you, but where is this changeling," I said.  "He was roaming somewhere in the town cemetery last time I saw," The man said pointing at a dark stone garden of tombstones.  "So that's our next stop I guess," Twilight said.  "I guess it is," I said walking towards the Cemetery.  (At the cemetery), As we were walking towards the center of the cemetery, something was moving through the tombstones.  "Show yourself shadow walker!" I yelled into the darkness.  "What did you call me," It said attacking me.  "What are you?" I said trying to pry it off of me.  "I am the walker of Tombstones," The monster said scratching my face.  "Get off of him," Twilight said blasting the creature.  "You can't kill me, I am invincible," The creature said moving back into the tombstones.  "Dammit he got away," I said hitting the ground with my hooves.  "Don't, getting angry won't solve anything," Twilight said holding my shoulder.  "Lets go back to town," Twilight said.  "You should go back and rest, I'll stay here and look for the cemetery walker," I said casting a light spell.  "Why don't you want me to look for the creature for you," Twilight said angrily.  "Because I need to catch this creature, and I can't have you get tricked by an illusion while I'm fighting him," I said.  "Fine I'll go, but if you leave me, I'll have to hunt you down," Twilight said walking back into town.  "Alright, where did you go Tombwalker," I said preparing my magic.  "I won't let you catch me that easily, I have plans that don't involve you," The creature said walking around the cemetery.  "Run, run, little changeling I will catch you and bring my Queen back," I said changing into my changeling form.  I teleported right in front of the Tombwalker and blasted him with a telekinetic blast.  "So, who are you anyways," I said trapping the creature against a wall.  "you think that you can intimidate me," The creature said attempting to stab me with his horn.  "Yes, I do think I can intimidate you," I said throwing him against a tombstone.  "I'm not the changeling your looking for, he left to Canterlot," The creature said struggling to get back up.  "Why Canterlot, its to much of a risk to just go into the Princesses city," I said shaking him.  "Maybe, you should find out for yourself," The creature said melting into the ground.  "Where did you go," I said frantically scrapping at the ground.  "I am no longer there, you should know where to go from here," a voice called in all directions.  (Inside of a cafe),  I stood there trying to figure out why he was going to Canterlot, and only one option rang through my mind.  "He wants to kill the princess," a voice screamed in my head.  I was sitting there staring for more than an hour before a familiar face nudged my shoulder.  "So what did the creature look like," the old man from earlier said flashing a smile.  "It was a changeling alright, but it had a weird mark on its flank," I explained to the stallion.  "It might have been a cutie mark, did it look like a talent of some kind," the old stallion said.  "Yeah, it was a tomb with shadows surrounding it," I said to him.  "Guess I should have guessed from the whole Tombwalker name," the old stallion said.  "Yeah, but I find it odd how he was able to disappear from my sights so quickly, without teleporting," I said scratching my head with my hooves.  "Well, I find it odd that there even is a changeling this far out of territory," the old stallion said in a more whispered tone.  "That is an interesting point, but there are always those that stray from the group," I said trying to match his tone of voice.  "I know that, but I heard that there queen is missing, and all changelings usually go back to the kingdom," he whispered to me.  "Ill have to think about that," I said getting out of my seat, and handing the man a bag full of bits.  "Oh, theirs no need to pay me, I should be paying you for helping get rid of this monster," He said pushing the  away from himself.  "No, its fine, he gave me something that I wanted, and you helped me find him," I said leaving the cafe.  (Back at the hotel), "Well Twilight, looks like we're going to Canterlot," I said entering the room.  "Why Canterlot?" Twilight asked, clearly shaken from my sudden request.  "I found a clue that the changeling decided that it wants to infiltrate Canterlot.  "If that's the case, then he should have been caught by now, ever since the Chrysalis incident, we probably caught him already," Twilight argued.  "Maybe, but this is a completely different beast altogether," I argued to Twilight.  "Even if your right, there are too many guards to simply infiltrate the castle," Twilight said inquisitively.  "Maybe, but the guards aren't prepared for this kinda attack, and even if they were, there are more of them," I said trying to sound less concerned than I was.  "We have to at least warn them of what coming after them," Twilight said worried.  "And then what, tell them there is going to be attacked at a certain time, from some direction, from a squad of changelings with unknown abilities.  "Well.." Twilight tried to form an argument, but couldn't find the words.  "Exactly, so let me find some information on our enemies," I said returning to my sleeping chamber. "What are you going to do?" Twilight said confused.  "I'm going to go to sleep," I said getting prepared for bed.  "Fine, but we need to look first thing tomorrow," Twilight said closing the door. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: The Queen has gone missing //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: The Queen has gone missing "Are you feeling alright Chrysalis," I said flashing a smile.  She got up and took a sip of her tea, "Midnight, can you play a song for me."  "Yes milady, but could you do with more tea first," I said concerned.  "No Midnight, that's quite alright," Chrysalis said taking a seat.  "What kind of song would you like me to play, milady," I said.  "Just play the first thing that comes to your mind," Chrysalis said giving me a fake smile.  "Yes Milady," I said while preparing my piano.  (several hours later).  "OK Chrysalis, are you ready for another," I said smiling.  I looked back at Chrysalis, and saw her sleeping on her seat.  "Sorry I should have noticed," I said to myself.  I wrapped her in blankets, and walked over to my own bed.  (One night later).  "The queen is missing" said hundreds of voices outside.  I looked over to the seat Chrysalis was sitting in, and saw only the blankets with a note attached.  "where did Chrysalis go," I said to myself.  When I snapped to my senses, I got my coat and ran down the stairs.  "Midnight where are you going," a voice called out.  "Oh, its you Riva" I said.  "Do you know where the Queen is," Riva said out of breath.  "Riva sit down, catch your breath" I said trying to sit her down.  "Midnight Note, I said where is the queen," Riva said.  "I don't know, she left when I was asleep. ," I said.  "How do you not know, she was in the same room as you," Riva said.   "I don't know," I said backing off.  "Never-mind, I'll keep looking I guess," Riva said leaving.  I walked for hours before I just gave up.  "Giving up already," A voice called out behind me.  "What do you want Zero," I said looking back to him.  "Jeez, what crawled up your flank" Zero said.  "Zero, everyone is going crazy, Riva is pulling her hair out," I said.  "She always is, but Midnight if your really so worried, then just go and track her down elsewhere" Zero said.  I got up and turned to him, "What do you mean, go out and find her," I said.  "I mean go to Ponyville, I heard that some interesting things are going on over there," Zero said.  "What Ponyville? I can't leave the kingdom, I will get found and executed," I said.  "I could cover for you, come on We both know how much Chrysa loves adventure," Zero said.  "Are you sure I won't be caught," I said skeptically.  "Positive, I know I can keep people distracted," Zero said.  "Fine, I'll go, but can you tell Riva where I am going, after I'm gone," I said.  "OK, I'll remember that," Zero said.  "Alright, Zero lets do it," I said confidently.  (the next day).  "Are you ready to go MIdnight," Zero said.  "Yeah, but are you sure the wing spell works," I said drawing the incantation.  "positive, I heard a unicorn from Cloudsdale used it with no problems," Zero said.  "alright, so are we ready to go," I said.  "Ready," Zero said moving the cogs in place.  "OK lets go," I said pulling the switch.  "Remember, say hi to Chrysa, for me" Zero shouted as I flew through the air.
