The One
Chapter 3
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI was at a loss. I didn't know exactly why Fluttershy was so nervous around me, or why she acts like she does with me around. I feel as though my presense around her generally makes her feel a down. I don't know why, but I don't think I make her feel sad, but regardless, I need to try to make her feel better. I have found a way to make myself useful around here; I can help feed and take care of the animals, and although Fluttershy is usually really nervous with me, she trusts me to do it properly. I am doing good with it, bonding with the animals, and I think that is making her a little more calm. The animals trust me, thankfully.
"So how have you two been getting along with each other?" Twilight asked, "It's been... Okay, I guess. Fluttershy has been really skittish around me. Is that normal? I am getting kind of worried..." I said this with slight concern in my voice, and Twilight obviously could tell so. "N-No, I'm fine..." I heard Fluttershy say as she came down the stairs from her room. It has been a week since I started staying here, and she is doing a little better with me. Twilight started off the new conversation. "Are you sure you are okay, Fluttershy? You are normally a little off around new people for a few days, but not a whole week. Are you sure you are alright?"
"I'm fine, Twilight..." She said this in a very quiet voice, quieter than normal, and with her normally quiet voice anyway, it didn't make it any more audible. I could barely hear it. "Fluttershy, please just tell me what is wrong, okay? I don't like seeing you like this. I just wish you would be around me a little more. It makes me feel even more lonely to know that the person I live with is avoiding me." I said this, realizing it is probably the longest thing I've said at one time so far. I wasn't a quiet person, but usually Pinkie or Rainbow would cut me off, or it would have been one of my very short conversations with Fluttershy.
"I... I... I just don't want to talk about it right now... Okay?" Fluttershy said, and for the second time, looked me straight in the eyes, not hiding her face behind her hair. "Okay. But if anything is bothering you, please let me know." She looked lost in thought, and I noted I have never seen her like that before. I pondered why she would be lost in thought so suddenly, and then before I could come up with an answer, she came back to her senses, and blushed a little, seeing I was staring at her. I quickly averted my gaze, realizing immediately that I was doing so. Twilight broke the awkward silence. "Okay, so, what is the schedule for today?"
"I am going to Pinkie's for a little while to help plan a party in a few hours, then going to work at sweet apple acres helping Applejack pick the apples, followed by watching some tricks of Rainbow's that she wanted to show me." As I said this, I slowly realized how busy I was going to be that day. It was going to be a long one, alright. "Well, I have to go get started. Thanks for the breakfast, Fluttershy!" I picked up a small bag of confetti that Pinkie wanted me to get, and walked to the door. "See you guys later!" "Okay, bye!" Twilight gave me a smile and I walked out the door.
