While having a small picnic near the Everfree Forest, Spike and the Cutie Mark Crusaders stumble upon a very interesting book with all sorts of mysterious information about Magic and a whole other world.

Naturally, the Crusaders plan to use it to gain their Cutie Marks, while Spike wants to give it to Twilight to study it. Unfortunately, the tome itself has other plans…

And so does the dark being who awaits them on the other side…

Now, with the power of ancient wizardry on thier side, it is their decision whether or not to use their new abilities to save this new and unexplored world from its dark past. Or to leave and abandon it to darkness once more.
