Thousands of years ago, before Celestia and Luna were even born, there was a great empire of Alicorns. These Alicorns lived in a large kingdom above the largest mountain in all of Equestria, they were a thriving kingdom of many kin, and happiness was abundant, but they were also very strong compared to any regular pony, pegasus, or Unicorn, making them a huge interest in the eyes of the gods, to which eventually wanted to claim these powers as their own and leave Equestria without power, and in attempting to gain these powers, the gods imprisoned the Alicorns, and soon found that an Alicorn's power cannot simply be siphoned, so the gods did some experiments on them, seeing what would happen if they removed pieces of their souls. This torturous process of elimination lasted for many years. All newborn Alicorns were raised to be future tests, while the mothers of them were used next. This brings us to one individual, who was born in captivity, but because of a test that went wrong on her mother, she was forced to age much faster than any of her other kin, upon 2 weeks of age, she had fully matured, but oddly, she stopped aging altogether after it had happened. This caught the attention of the gods, as they may be gods, they still aged, and would eventually die, thus when they saw that she was no longer getting older, they wanted her power.
"Run away at any chance you get, Night, they want your power so they don't age!" Said one of my friends, I often wondered if she was really my friend, but at this point in time, she seemed concerned for me, so I assumed so. Being in captivity of the gods for my whole life brought questions to my mind, one being whether any of this was real, was I really born? Did everything actually happen as it did? Maybe I have actually been alive for a very long time, but I just don't remember it, or maybe I am in a huge realistically horrifying dream. Shaking my head I brush off all of the questions running through my head at that moment.
"What powers could they want? I don't even know how to do a levitation spell!" I said, confused, "I don't even know if I have actually STOPPED aging altogether, after all, its only been a couple months since I seem to have stopped aging."
"I know," My friend said to me placing her hoof on my back, "But you became mature in only a couple of weeks, you LOOK to be as old as me, but I know you are only a couple months old, so I want to make sure you are safe, because you know what happens if they find that you cannot help them." She backs away, a tear in her eye, then looking me in the eye she says, "The same thing happened to your mother, though it was not the quick aging, but she seemed to stop aging for a time, and so they began experimenting on her, but after you were born, she started to age again, and they..." She trailed off into sobbing, I look to the ground, a tear welling up in my eye, mostly because I don't know my mother, but also because I was afraid of what they might do to me.
"Okay," I say a bit nervously, but somehow sounding more certain than I felt about the idea I was about to say. "I have an idea for how we are going to get out of here, but it is going to be hard." She looks at me, shock in her eyes as she hears me say that, then she turns around and rummages through some books that were put in our 'house' for studying on basic magics.
"You will still need to learn magic, I have some books here that should help with that, unfortunately, they wont let us learn anything more than a bit of levitation, fine tuning, and a bit of conjuration of food. But I have managed to do something that they didn't expect!" She turns away, then seeing a glow on her horn, a spoon starts to form on the ground, but it grows a little, eventually it turns into a shovel. "See, with the conjuration you can use the molecules of items around you to make something more, uh, useful." Smiling she turns away and uses the shovel to dig a small hole and bury it, making sure it is not found easily.
I look down at the books, opening the first one, I seem to understand everything written on the page, almost like I already knew it. 'Basics of Levitation Magic' was the title, yet it seemed to be more like 'last years news on Levitation Magic' to me, and being as it seemed, I was able to easily preform said magic, levitating the book and flipping the pages with ease. My friend looking at me kind of shocked at how quickly I was able to learn it, and perfectly use it, then she smiled, and pushed another book to me. 'The needed to know knowledge of conjuring basic needs' It seemed a bit of a long title for what it was about, it could have said something like 'conjuring needs' and it would have done just fine. Ignoring the fact that the title was obnoxiously long, I opened it to find that I was able to understand it just as easily. I quickly conjured myself a loaf of bread and chomped it down as I haven't had food in a long time.
"You already got that one down too? I swear its like you already know these things!" She said to me, handing me a book about tuning instruments, the book's cover was too worn to make out the title but the contents were still good, they gave many examples of instrumental tunes and some detailed diagrams of said instruments, to which I decided I wanted one of them, and using my magic, I conjured up a stringed instrument that was much like a harp but it also had a bow that could be used on some of the secondary strings around the main structure of the harp's half heart. I then began playing a small tune that came to my mind It was a soothing one that I had heard from the Palace once. "And you know how to play music too?" My friend asked me, very confused, then looking at the harp she presses her hoof to her temple and gently says "I thought you didn't know magic."
I looked around and smiled at her, "I don't, but it seemed like I already did when I read the books, I seemed to understand them completely, and it was almost as if I had already learned them a long time ago, but that is impossible, as I am only a couple months old." I said to my friend, who in which was still trying to figure out how all of this was happening. "I don't know how I know it, all I know, is that I can do all of this, and I am quite enjoying it." I finish, then I look around the room for more books, trying to learn everything I can, but I become interrupted as a guard calls out to me.
"Hey you, I am going to need you to come with me, you are being requested to have an audience with the gods." The guard said as he opened the door, letting me out and escorting me to the Palace. On the steps of the Palace, one of the gods is giving me a wicked grin, like he had an evil plan for me or something, but ignoring it, I follow the guard into the Palace, and approach the leader of the gods, Zeus, who in which addresses me with only a blank stare for a long period of time, to which I meet with a blank stare of my own, showing no weakness to him, making it apparent that I will not bow.
"You amuse me," Said Zeus, "Most of your kin automatically bow to me, afraid that I will strike them down where they stand if they do not, but frankly, I am more tempted to do so when they do bow, nevertheless, you have given me the respect of at least looking me in the eye when I am addressing you, so I will not be angry with you." Zeus waves his hand a glass of water appears before me, to which I lightly sip on so as not to look greedy. "Ah, I see you have learned how to levitate finally, but I know that you have learned a lot more than that, you seem to already know everything about the basics, so please," He tosses down a book with a recipe in it to make a pie. "Make me that with your conjuration, and don't try to lie that you cannot, how else did you get that instrument, I know your friend cannot make one, she burly knows how to make that shovel."
Firmly looking him in the eyes, I take a breath, and starting to light up my horn I effortlessly make the pie he requested, to which he claps and genuinely enjoys. "What is it you actually want from me?" I ask him, all of the guards in the room looking at me nervously, as they assume Zeus was about to destroy me for my disrespect. But he simply starts laughing, genuinely amused by my attitude, and my sincere lack of fear for him.
"I simply called you here to see how my next specimen was doing. You see, I cannot allow you to simply rot away and die without giving me what I want, so I must address you, to make sure you are staying well." He throws the remains of the pie out the window as he continues talking, and taking steps closer to me, "You see, I want your seemingly endless youth, sure it has only been a couple months that you have not been aging, but that is still a promise for us, you see, we gods still age, despite the fact that we age at an even slower rate than your ancestors, so the fact that you simply do not age, means something promising for us, and we will dissect you to find out how to get that power if we have to." He is now standing next to me, sliding his finger down my horn then turning and walking back up to his throne, and sitting down, he puts his hand to his chin and thinks for a while, then smiles and says, "Now, I know that you are well, and kicking, I can begin the tests, take her away, and take her power."
