The mental image of a wide-spanning, sandy beach conjures many an idea in a pony's mind when they think of it. For some, it's a refreshing breath of fresh air and sun away from the city life and usual sights, traded for the beautiful and seemingly endless horizon of ocean and sand. One can lay back, soak up some of Celestia's blessed solar rays, and just bask in the peace of it all. Others are of a mischievous lot, putting their imaginations in overdrive of imagining scantily clad mares – or stallions, if so motivated – at the beach like them, their beautiful physical forms on display via almost scandalous outfits claiming to be swimwear.
Yes, it was definitely a splendid idea, the beach. Though, it's not always quite so crystal clear and happy as the postcards make it out to be, not at first. The case in point for this thought? One magenta-pink mare named Cheerilee.
Now, usually Cheerilee was a mare who'd enjoy the idea of getting some free time at the beach. She labored greatly as one of the only teachers of Ponyville's youth, responsible for helping the children to learn all about their world as best she could teach them. She worked very hard at this job, taking pride in being the one responsible for ushering in the next generation of potential workers, scientists, and ponies of all calls of life. Even though it was challenging, she knew it was an arduous task, and she took to it with all she could muster.
That being said, of late, the rewards seemed to be lackluster compared to their once assured good standing. The pay was decent, of course, matching well with her preferred lifestyle. Plus, she was an effective and present member of the community, her opinion and voice often being called on in matters concerning the youth as well as the local events. But to Cheerilee, it struck her more that as great a figure she had to the community, not many seemed to pay attention to the mare behind the job title.
A sigh escaped her lips as she adjusted the sunglasses perched on her nose, her eyes unfocused as she gazed out at the endless blue skies above her head. She hated having these thoughts on such a nice day, and had left Ponyville for a little R&R for that precise purpose. Yet even the soft breeze and warm sunlight of the beach couldn't do away with those pestering thoughts. There weren't many ponies around at the time, the mid-day afternoon calling many folks to the beach's few local dine-ins and have a bite before coming back for more. A simple cucumber sandwich and cool tea did Cheerilee fine though.
Casting a glance down at herself, the pinkish mare had to ponder if perhaps her diet was part of the reason. But the results spoke for themselves, at least they should have: exercise plus carefully managed meals left the 30-something mare pleased with her figure. Lean legs led like a tall drink of water up her form, her thighs not overly large but pleasantly developed enough to show off in her running gear. Her tummy was flat, kept thin through vigorous exercise but only enough that she didn't try to go into getting a six pack, or a four pack at that. She wasn't looking to be buff, just fit. A light brush of her fingers across her middle assured her that her fur was soft, a trait she knew to be desired in a mare seeking male company.
Attention moving further up, she found the other prominent trait she figured would at least earn her a wanton gaze or two. Rather defying the usual family genes, Cheerilee had grown into a proud chest bearing a DD size. It certainly was something she had at first struggled with, being an early bloomer. But as she'd grown accustomed to it and the attention such bouncing, jiggly treasures earned, she grew to enjoy it. Or she had, until it seemed to suddenly cease without warrant. There had been a brief respite in her fling with Big Macintosh, the Apple farmer a man who certainly appreciated her twin beauties.
Or at least he had. Then Fluttershy had grown a backbone and swept him out from her hands, leaving her dry once more. She'd been entirely outgunned by that mare in every department, especially with those watermelons she called breasts. The thought drew a derisive snort from her nostril as she adjusted her sunglasses once more, turning her eyes back to the sky. Let them be happy; she held no ill will to either pony, if only a lingering bitterness at being left alone once more.
“I guess it wouldn't just fall out of the sky, now would it? I'm not that lucky.” she remarked aloud. For a moment, her imagination waited to see if by some Celestia made miracle that somepony would say otherwise. She was disappointed when instead, nopony came to counter her words.
Instead, a large inflatable beach ball came to land on her belly. The unexpected impact jolted her out of her thoughts, making her flinch as it came to rest beside the mare. “Or that could happen!” she exclaimed to herself before sitting up. She could see somepony wandering over to her, jogging and waving a hand. “Lost your ball, did you?” she asked as she leaned over and plucked up the ball, holding it as they drew close. She blinked as she observed the form of what she could now make out to be a stallion approaching her.
He was taller than her height, she could wager safely, though only by a couple inches. His light grey coat betrayed his musculature, nimble but built well for a Pegasus. His wings were kept behind him, letting his firm chest and developed four pack be on free display as he came to a stop in front of her. Though she kept her gaze properly on his face, she had to admit he made for an attractive looker in just swim trunks.
“I'm so sorry about that, my friend hit the ball too hard and we couldn't catch it. Are you ok?” He asked. His voice was young, but she dismissed that as there's no way he could be underage with a body like his. But there was something familiar about his mane style and color…
“Wait. Miss Cheerilee?” The question made the mare shake her head before meeting those purple eyes with her greenish own. It took only a moment to recognize him, picturing him instead as a youth handing her a test paper and asking after if she needed help after class. Or offering to clean up the classroom after a messy work day, instead of rushing out the door with his classmates.
“Rumble! Oh my Celestia!” she laughed as she stood up properly. Her prediction was accurate as her forehead came up to his nose when she stood up. She shared a brief hug with him, confirming indeed that his firm torso and arms were indeed lined with properly formed muscle. It would seem that puberty and adulthood had indeed been kind to her former student. “I didn't expect you to be here. How are you?”
Rumble smiled a brilliant grin at the recognition. “I'm doing well. Me and Pip are on vacation here, using Pip's family's vacation house. He invited me to come with him, and I couldn't pass up a chance to hit the beach with free time I finally got from the weather team.” He gestured behind him, and a glance showed Cheerilee the waiting earth pony, who was no doubt curious as to just what his playmate was doing. “Are you here with anypony yourself?”
Cheerilee shook her head, her shoulder-length mane brushing her shoulder before she flicked it back with a hand. “No, I decided to take some time for me and came here to relax.” she replied. “As nice as it is living in town, sometimes you need to get away from it all.”
“I hear that.” Rumble chuckled before looking back to Pip, then to her. “Well, hey. Why don't you come and hang out with us some? If you want to, I mean. If you'd prefer to have time for yourself, go for it.” he offered, smiling sheepishly after. “My brother always had times where he just needed to be by himself, so I'd completely understand.”
Cheerilee pondered this before snatching the ball out of Rumble's hands, surprising him. Holding it aloft, she grinned cheekily at him. “I think I'll take spending time with two nice gentlecolts to being by myself. Besides, if you can't play with your equipment properly, then teacher will have to take them away.” she joked, drawing a laugh from them both before they collected her things and brought her to their spot.
“Whoa, mate, how'd you talk this fine-looking lass over to us?” Pip questioned, resting a hand on his hip as they returned.
Rumble snickered while Cheerilee blushed lightly at being praised. “Funny, I don't remember teaching you that kind of language, Pip.” She teased. Pip took only a second before he caught on, jaw dropping.
“Miss Cheerilee?!” he exclaimed. “Oh, wow. Please don't be offended, I meant the best by it!” he apologized immediately, the white and brown splotches on his face being matched now with a red streak across his muzzle.
“No worries, Pip. If anything, it does me well to know this old mare can still be called pretty.” she assured. Holding the ball up, she nodded at their makeshift volleyball net. “How's about a few rounds? I'll trade off every few points, so it's fair.” The boys looked to each other before nodding, having no issue.

An hour later found the three sitting, the sun going down slowly towards the horizon yet leaving plenty of sunlight yet. Though they'd worked up a small sweat from their efforts, all three had had an enjoyable time together playing their game. Cheerilee herself was enjoying being amidst her now full grown students, if perhaps a little more than she expected to. It certainly wasn't a crime for her to cast a glance at their sweaty torsos or arms when they reared back to spike the ball over the net, or admire how well they could bend or move throughout the game.
But she wasn't the only one taking peeks, as it turned out. Both stallions were guilty of taking a mis-step or missing a shot due to the distraction of the lovely teacher with them. More than once, Rumble himself had fumbled for the ball, his eyes having been glued to Cheerilee's wobbling, jiggling bust. Her bikini top – a simple blue two-piece number – didn't budge or give way to her heaving breasts, but it still made for an alluring sight. At one point, she'd climbed atop him, sitting atop his shoulders to try for a shot she couldn't do normally. Pip had laughed it off of course, though Rumble had felt his face flush as her soft, supple thighs squeezed around his head slightly, making him imagine that happen in a much naughtier context.
He did try to dismiss such thoughts, reminding himself this was his teacher he was ogling. But what a sight to see, he had to admit fairly. His boyhood crush on the mare had dwindled over time, but it was quickly returning at seeing her smiling around him so much. The three were currently sitting at a small table that Pip had brought to sit at, with each of them having something cool to drink to beat the steady heat of the day.
“Phew! You boys know how to make a mare work!” Cheerilee remarked after a sip of her bottled lemonade. She lifted the bottle and pressed the cool glass to her forehead, a small moan of relief leaving her lips that made both boys blush.
“Y-yeah, well. We gotta stay in shape, you know. I know Rumble here is always on about good health.” Pip remarked, nodding at the Pegasus. “If you'd heard how many times he told me off for eating hayburgers all the time, he'd sound like a broken record.”
“Hey!” said stallion protested, throwing a small chip of ice from the cooler at the earth pony, who laughed with him. “I'm just applying what we learned in school. We had a great teacher for it, you know.” he says, nodding at Cheerilee who smiled. She really was glad she'd taken their offer to spend the day with them. It had done her a much better deal than sitting alone and thinking of her issues before. Of course, that thought reminded her what brought her there in the first place, making her expression darken slightly before she caught herself.
“So what's it been like for you two after escaping my classroom?” Cheerilee asked, smiling at the two stallions. 'They must've found marefriends aplenty by now. Rumble probably has a few favorites on the weather team, and Pip...well, there always was that rumor about him and Princess Luna.' she told herself.
“Truthfully, a little too quiet.” Rumble said, catching the pinkish-purple mare by surprise. “I mean, don't get me wrong, work is really nice and all. I get along great with everypony. I just sometimes wish we had some more excitement like when we were growing up.”
Pip chuckled from his spot on Cheerilee's right. “Yeah, 'cause growing up amidst chaos and danger every odd week was exciting.” he joked, making him and the mare laugh while Rumble smiled sheepishly.
“Hey, come on! You know what I mean!” he defended, throwing his empty plastic bottle at the earth stallion. Pip simply ducked his head.
“Too slow, Rumble. Almost as slow as you were in school, answering those math questions Cheerilee here gave us.” He remarked, making an embarrassed blush cross Rumble's cheeks as Cheerilee snickered before raising an eyebrow at the Pegasus.
Rumble saw her looking to him and smiled sheepishly. “W-well, uh...hey, math is a hard subject!” he replied, relaxing when he saw her laugh. Reaching down into the cooler, Rumble's hand searched amidst the scattered ice, but he could only find what he knew was the alcoholic ciders he and Pip had meant to save for later. Looking up at Cheerilee, he thought for a moment before shrugging mentally. They were all adults now, so what could the harm be?
“Hey, Miss Cheerilee,” Rumble started to ask before he saw Cheerilee wave a hand at him.
“Call me Cheerilee. We're on equal standing nowadays, Rumble.” she teased playfully, making him smile shyly.
“Cheerilee, you mind if we break out a couple ciders? We didn't pack too much regular soda. It's nothing heavy duty, mind, but if you don't like it, we can save it for later.”
The bikini-clad mare smiled at his consideration for her. He certainly had developed manners too in his growth from colt to full-built, muscular stallion adult. She pushed down those thoughts and nodded. “Go ahead, I don't mind.” she assured. As Rumble reached down to get one for himself, she paused before throwing caution to the wind. She wanted to loosen up; why not try a little spirits to help? “Actually, could I have one too?”
Rumble blinked before grabbing an extra one, handing it over to her while Pip whistled. “Watch out, folks. The schoolteacher's got herself some alcohol. Next thing you know, she'll be dancing on the table!” Pip joked, making Cheerilee laugh.
“Hey, just because I'm an effective member of the community doesn't mean I haven't enjoyed a drink or few in my time. Back in my day...oh Celestia, did I just say 'back in my day'?” she held the bottle to her forehead. “I must be getting old.”
“What? Nah you're not.” Rumble insisted, waving his hand in a throwaway gesture. “You can't be a day over thirty, Cheerilee.”
The purplish mare tried to hide her embarrassed smile behind a drink of her cider. “Oh, come on. You're just trying to be nice.” she protested.
Rumble shook his head. “I'm dead serious. You look great, fantastic even!” he gushed before catching himself. “Uh. I mean, if you don't mind me saying so.” he added softly after, looking to the side shyly. Pip only laughed while Cheerilee smiled prettily, feeling her cheeks warm at his honesty.
“I'd take his word for it, Cheerilee. If there's one thing Thunderlane always hammered in his head, it was always to be honest. Course, that was after he got chewed out by Cloudchaser for mistaking her birthday for her twin sister's.” Pip remarked. The three shared a laugh there before pausing as they heard a small rumble of thunder. Off in the distance, out to sea, they could make out darkening clouds slowly moving towards their location.
“Ahh, bugger all! It was such a nice day too!” Pip exclaimed before sighing. “Ah, well. It can't be helped.” he looked to Cheerilee, who seemed forlorn at the pleasant time ending so soon. Rumble too looked to be disappointed, though the sideways glance to Cheerilee might have had something to do with it. Pip smirked to himself before getting up, drawing their attention. “Right! Come on then; they may take our weather, but I'll be damned in Tartarus before they take my good spirit!” he exclaimed. “We'll go back to the beach house. Cheerilee can come with us, right Rumble?” he asked.
Rumble blinked before looking to Cheerilee, who looked surprised at the offer. “Well, sure! I mean, if you would like to, that is.” He replied, nodding at the mare.
Cheerilee grinned at the Pegasus, getting up and stretching slightly much to the stallion's delight as certain parts gave a slight jiggle from her motions. “Boys, I think I'd like that very much.” She replied before a louder rumble of thunder made them each twitch. “But let's be quick before we're washed out, ok?”

The trio of ponies had made it to the house in time to avoid being caught amidst the surprise storm. The house itself was well furnished, Cheerilee admitted, with a wide open living room that had multiple sofas for lounging on as well as a fireplace for extra warmth. Pip sets about getting it to turn on, poking at the logs with the metal poker while Rumble and Cheerilee share a couch. Rumble was careful not to get too close to the lovely schoolteacher, and continuously mentally scolded himself anytime his gaze drifted further south than her chin. If she noticed his glances, she didn't comment or speak of it.
“Thank you for letting me crash here with you two. I hope it's not an inconvenience to have me here in your little bachelor pad.” she joked as she looked outside, rain smeared across the window as the storm continued on. “I would've thought that the weather teams would've kept a clear sky, but I guess they could only do it for so long.”
Rumble nods, finishing off the bottle he'd started on the beach. He was hardly buzzed, having developed a tolerance to alcohol thanks to Pip's many parties he was often dragged to. “That or somepony lost control of their rain clouds. It's happened to me often enough on my own job.” he comments. “It's tougher than it looks when they keep trying to get past you to vent out all the collected water.”
Cheerilee nods at this, leaning back in her seat with a sigh. Rumble's gaze drifts for only a moment to her chest before looking up at the fireplace. The stallion kept his focus there until he saw Pip wave him over to where he was standing by the hallway leading upstairs. “Excuse me a sec.” he says, leaving the mare behind to join his friend.
“Alright, mate. This is how it's gonna go.” Pip whispers when Rumble joins him. His tone makes the Pegasus blink in confusion. “I'm gonna feign goin' upstairs for a sleep, sayin' I'm worn from the day. That'll leave you plenty of time to get cozy with Cheerilee here and uh...get to know each other, eh?”
“Pip?! What, are you nuts?” Rumble questioned. “I can't just...I mean, she's gotta have somepony! Or something!”
“Oh, come off it. If she had somepony, she'd have brought them with her today. And don't think I've forgotten how hard you fell for her back in school. I lost count of the love notes you tried to write, only to throw them in the garbage because you chickened out last minute.” The earth pony countered. “Plus, she's a total beauty. If anything, I bet you she'd enjoy at least some guy paying attention to her some. Trust me, mate.” he clapped a hand onto his shoulder before giving him a thumbs up.
Rumble thought of how he could try to get out of this, but knew his friend was set in his idea. It was how he'd convinced him to sneak a snow cloud over to Pip's then girlfriend Silver Spoon's house so he could pull off a ruse of giving her the gift of winter. The guy was just set in his ways. With a sigh, he waved him off, and Pip chuckled before heading upstairs, leaving Rumble to return to the living room where Cheerilee was opening a second bottle.
“Where'd Pip go?” she asked when he sat down beside her.
“Well, he says that he's not feeling the best now. I think he couldn't handle his liquor.” he joked, making her giggle before a small “hic!” escaped her lips. “I hope you can handle yours?” he asked with a smirk.
“I'm perfectly fine!” she assured, waving a hand. “It's just been a little while for me.” she added before sinking back into the sofa. Closing her eyes, she let the warmth of the fireplace wash over her before opening her eyes to look to Rumble. Seeing him smile, she returned one before speaking. “Alright, Rumble. I remember your brother being quite the playboy when you were growing up. I don't suppose you've got your own little squeeze tucked away somewhere?”
Her question drew a blush out of his face as he looked to the side sheepishly. Cheerilee took this as an admission of guilt and poked his shoulder. “Come on, whose the lucky mare?”
“Actually, nopony.” Rumble answer was soft and shy, but Cheerilee heard it loud and clear. Her look of surprise prompted the Pegasus to elaborate. “I did have a couple relationships in the past, the longest being with Scootaloo. But, well...as things turned out, she actually likes what's on the other fence more.” He explained, making Cheerilee smile apologetically.
“I'm sorry, Rumble.” The Pegasus waved off the apology before sipping from his own cider. He then nodded at her.
“What about you? Somepony as great as you has got to have a stallion waiting on her back home.” he asked. Cheerilee eyed her bottle before sighing softly.
“I'm not that great, Rumble. Sure, I'm good as a teacher, but it seems that's not quite enough to...well...hook a stallion, to put it best.” she replied. Rumble could scarcely believe his ears.
“You're kidding me?” he retorted, but Cheerilee only shook her head, smiling sadly at the fireplace. “I'm sorry, but then the town of Ponyville needs to go and get it's eyes checked.” His remark drew her curiosity, her eyes watching him as he looked to her.
“I'm...sorry?” she asked, confused.
Rumble could've easily chalked up his bravado to the cider, but knew this may be his only chance to speak his feelings. “Cheerilee, you're a wonderful pony, not just a teacher. I should know; we've lived around and been friends for ages. I've seen you be kind, caring, thoughtful, smart, and beautiful to boot.” His last compliment made her cheeks warm, but she didn't stop him. Part of her wanted to hear this, needed to hear it. Rumble continued, unabated.
“I know that if any of the mares I knew were like you, I'd be doing my best to try and get ahold of them. You're one of a kind, Cheerilee.” he finished, staring at the fireplace as he could feel her stare on him. The hairs on the back of his neck stood as the tension crept into his body from the quiet, save for the crackle of the wood in the fireplace and the pangs of rain on the window. “...I-I'm sorry, I said too much, huh?” He started, before Cheerilee's hand came to rest on his thigh, making him stop.
“You're not just...saying that, are you Rumble?” she questioned. Her voice was soft over the volume of the fireplace, though the heartbeat pounding in the Pegasus' ears could have overshadowed it easily. He chanced a look up at the mare, his purple eyes meeting the rose-maned mare's own. He gulped, but answered after a moment.
“I mean it sincerely. I wouldn't lie to you, Cheerilee.” he said. His response made her heart flutter, and Cheerilee beamed at him, drawing a small grin out of him likewise. “Besides, if I did, you'd put me in detention, wouldn't you?”
Her laughter did away with the tension in the air, both easing as they relaxed. Cheerilee finished her bottle and set it on the table. “You always were one of my best students in class. Punctual, proactive, attentive.” she listed off as she lied there, finding her head coming to rest on his outstretched arm on the back of the sofa. He didn't pull away, and neither did she, looking over at him in a new light. He truly had grown up. She was quickly realizing in watching how the light from the fire danced on his bare chest that he could make any mare happy with that kind of attention. “Rumble?”
He looked to her when she spoke, his eyes watching her as she seemed to hesitate. She was a little nervous, but the mixture of alcohol in her system along with how comfortable she felt around him pushed her on. “Do you...really think I'm beautiful?” she asked finally. “I mean, I know I don't look as good as say...Fluttershy, or maybe Sweetie Belle, but...”
Rumble stopped her, reaching for her shoulder to turn her back to him when she had tried to turn away. The intensity in his gaze made her shiver. His eyes left hers for a moment, looking over her features carefully from her soft-looking lips to her cheeks, back to her eyes. Those green pools begged him to speak. “Yes. You truly are.” he said finally. “Everypony has their likes, Cheerilee. But, if you'll allow it...I believe you look better than either of them, or anypony else.”
His sincerity made her tremble not in fear, but in desire from her very depths. It was those kinds of words she truly sought to hear, that sheer conviction of certainty. It didn't matter he'd once been a student. It didn't matter she'd been his teacher. He was a stallion, fully grown and here he was, showering her with praise. She didn't know what to say, how to reply with her words. But her body decided it for her: she caught him by surprise when she leaned up and brought her lips to his, the rose-maned mare's hands laying on his chest.
It took him only a moment to get past the shock of feeling those gentle lips against his muzzle before he could respond. One of his hands came up and cupped her cheek, while the other held her hand against his chest, squeezing it gently. When they finally parted, she was left breathing deeply, tucking her head under his chin as he drew her in closer. “It's been so long...since anypony's said that to me.” Cheerilee murmured finally, looking up to him. “Please tell me this isn't...some kind of joke. Or dream.”
“If it's a dream, make that two of us.” he replied, his hand on her cheek stroking slowly. “I've got a beautiful mare with me; I know I'm already dreaming.” he joked, making her giggle before she looked up at him, a new light taking her eyes.
“Well...maybe we should keep on. To make sure we're not dreaming.” she suggested. Her hopeful tone wasn't lost on Rumble, who only smiled before leaning down to join his lips to hers once more. She sighed in his embrace as Cheerilee tasted him once more. He was easily wooing her with how soft he was treating her, the way his fingers brushed through her mane so easily. Pushing back into the kiss, they shifted to lying on the sofa, the curvy mare atop his form in an instant but never parting from his kiss. Only when the need for air was too great did they break apart, only to return once more with vigor.
With her atop him, Rumble's unoccupied hand had no trouble in brushing her back slowly, the soothing motions helping to keep them at ease. He soon found the tinge of cider on her tongue when her lips parted to grant him entry that the Pegasus gladly claimed, letting his own pink muscle dance along with her own. It was a wet kiss, but one they both savored as Cheerilee gave an appreciative moan from how he would flick and caress her tongue with his own. She was becoming lost to his essence, the feeling of him caring for her. It fueled her flame to make her crave more of him.
When she lifted up, loose strings of saliva connecting her muzzle to his until they broke, she rose up onto her haunches and paused, making him raise up to meet her as she was balanced on his lap. “You know...I happened to pay attention more than you might guess, Rumble.” she said with a smirk, making him raise an eyebrow but smile at her.
“Yeah? You figure so?” he asked, playing along. Her nod made her rose-colored mane bounce about her shoulders as she drew her hands up along her sides before curling them up behind her. The gesture made her chest stand out, something he didn't miss as he looked to the shaking mounds before looking back to her mischievous eyes.
“Mmhmm. And since you've been a good student, maybe you'd like to earn a little extra credit?” she asked, toying with the string of her top before undoing it. She let it fall easily, the top seemingly glad to be free from hiding her bosom as they rested on her chest. Rumble's eyes went wide as he was given an unobstructed view of her breasts, the lovely mounds capped with light pink nipples standing at attention, surrounded by a darker patch of fur that begged to be touched. His breath-taken expression made her giggle, snapping him out of his daze and into action.
With a quick motion, Rumble found his head buried between the two lovely pillows, his hands coming up to squeeze and knead them with his fingers as he dotted her skin with careful flicks of his tongue, the scent of her skin mixed with sweat a loving sensation as much as the soft fur rubbing against his cheeks. “Ooh, Rumble!
