Adventures of Twilight and Morn: Metro 2035
Two days after Morn's magical outburst.
There was a rainy day in Equestria. All the ponies were home, enjoying a hot chocolate with their friends or families.
Our two ponies: Morn and Twilight, were sitting in the dining room, enjoying their hot chocolate as well.
Suddenly Spike, Twilight's Assistant Number One, ran into the room, panting. A green flame erupted from his mouth, teleporting a new letter. Spike took it and ran to Twilight.
"Twilight, it's a letter from Celestia!" Spike panted. "It is something very important!"
Twilight's eyes widened in surprise. Why would Celestia send them a letter? Couldn't she just come in Twilight's castle?
Twilight grabbed the letter with her magic and opened it.
My dearest friend Twilight Sparkle,
The portal which led into the human world is opened once again. I want you to come to Crystal Empire ASAP. Take Morn with you. You two are good at magic, so it will be better if you will go through that portal. I am going to tell you more once you'll be at the castle.
Twilight read the letter aloud.
"Well, so now we have an important mission, right?" Morn asked. "Well, we should go, then."
Twilight nodded, stood up and put her cup of hot chocolate on the crystal table. Morn did the same. They went to the train station where it is possible to get to Crystal Empire the quickest way.
Three hours later the two were at the castle near the portal with Princess Celestia and a few royal guards.
"Morn, Twilight, I gathered you here to ask you to go through the portal and see what is behind it. First of all, do you have any questions?"
Morn raised his mechanical hoof.
"There is no idea what's in there? Like, not a single idea?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Maybe it leads into the world Twilight's been once, but I'm not sure." Celestia frowned, looking at the portal. "So, I have something for you," she said and brought a small black box with an antenna. "This is a radio. It should provide you good connection with the other device here, so you'll be able to talk to me while being in that world. However, this radio is still experimental, so it may not work properly in the world you're going, or it may not work at all. Oh, and you all are provided with saddlebags, so you'll be able to bring something back from there."
Twilight and Morn nodded in unison, putting on saddlebags. They decided that Twilight will carry the radio, so she put it in her saddlebag.
"Good luck, my little ponies," Celestia said and the two went through the portal.
They found themselves in a big tunnel. It was pretty dark, only mushrooms on the walls were glowing in a green light. There were also lots of tubing on the walls, some of them were cut or torn, and rails on the floor. The tunnel was round-shaped and had only two directions to go - forward and backward.
"That reminds me of metro in Manehattan. But this one has different construction technology used during the building," Twilight rubbed her chin. "I have no idea where we are."
"So, there are only two ways. Just where should we go?" Morn asked, shivering, his voice echoed through the tunnel, making it creepier.
"Forward?" Twilight asked and Morn nodded. "Be ready, anything can happen now."
They started walking forward. No sounds but their hoofsteps interrupted the dead silence of the tunnel. Suddenly they saw a train, blocking the path. Twilight opened the front door and stepped inside when suddenly a skeleton fell from the ceiling, scaring Twilight. She jumped out of the train, falling on Morn.
"What is it?" he asked, crawling out from under Twilight.
"T-There's a s-skeleton," she replied with a trembling voice. Morn sighed and got into the train. He saw the skeleton and moved it out of the path.
"There's nothing to be afraid of, he's completely dead. He's not going to eat your brains," Morn said and lend a hoof to Twilight, helping her to get in the train. They quickly walked through it. Near the exit, Twilight stepped on something and it made a strange sound. Twilight stopped and looked down. Suddenly the lights turned on, blinding everypony.
"Стой, кто идёт?" someone said.
"Да это же мутанты!" different voice said and a clattering sound was heard. "Приказываете открыть огонь на поражение?"
"Подожди!" the first voice said. "Вроде бы не атакуют... Странные какие-то мутанты, на лошадей похожи. У вот того, высокого и серого, вообще какая-то хрень с ногами. Стоп..."
"Да у него же железные ноги!" the second voice yelled.
"Вызывай Мельника!" the first one replied in trembling voice. "Если какой-то мутант использует что-либо человеческое, значит думать умеет, Андрей. Сообщи Мельнику, что произошёл случай ноль-девять-один. Пусть будет здесь как можно скорей."
Meanwhile Morn whispered to Twilight.
"What is going on? I can't understand a word."
"It's Horssian," Twilight replied. "I have no idea where we are, but they speak Horssian."
"What do they say?"
"They think we are some kind of mutants and that they must report to someone called Miller about us."
"So what are we going to do? Run away?" Morn asked, whispering.
"No, it will be risky," Twilight whispered back. "But if you want to understand what do they say, I can transfer some of my knowledge to you."
The stallion quickly nodded. Twilight's horn glowed a little, then the glow faded. Morn felt that he's learned the new language.
Author's Note: Now and onwards most of the dialogs will be done completely in English for readers to understand better.
Andrew was on the outer post of D-6 today. It was nothing to do, as mutants have stopped attacking the post for a week now. It was a very good day until strange horse-like creatures showed up.
Now Andrew is calling Miller on the phone. Not many phones left there in the Moscow metro, but they are still used by powerful organizations such as Sparta.
"Miller on the phone."
"Colonel, we have situation 0-9-1 at the outer post."
"I will be there in half an hour," Miller replied, hanging up.
Andrew was back at the post, talking to his mate Nicholas.
"So, what has Miller said?" Nicholas asked.
"He will be here in half an hour to look at those mutants. It is sure difficult for him, you know, with those legs."
"Мда. Any special orders from him?"
"Нет. Well, maybe we should allow the mutants to warm up by the fire?" Andrew suggested.
"Then you go get them, I'm not taking a single step towards them. You know how I hate mutants," Nicholas shivered, looking at the ponies.
"Yeah, right," Andrew sighed and turned to the two ponies, readying his AK-74 with a loud clatter. He slowly moved to the two ponies who stared at him with interest. Morn and Twilight didn't know what was Andrew holding.
"Hey, you... I don't know if you can understand me, but you should follow me," Andrew said in trembling voice, pointing his gun's barrel at the gray pony, who was sitting on the rails. Morn stood up, revealing that he is slightly taller than the human. Andrew gulped and slowly walked back to the fire, still pointing the barrel at the two unicorns who followed him. Andrew noticed that the lavender one was much smaller than the gray one. The tip of its head could barely Andrew's shoulder.
"Well... You may sit," he said, sat by the fire and lowered his AK-74. Morn and Twilight sat as well, now warming from fire's heat. They were sitting in silence for almost half an hour when sounds of wheels appeared. Slowly a trolley appeared from the turn of the tunnel behind the post. The trolley has stopped a few meters before it and a man with a crutch jumped from it. His right leg hasn't had a foot. Slowly the man got closer to the two guards and two ponies. Andrew stood up and walked to him.
"Colonel Miller, permission to report?" Andrew saluted.
"Report," Miller replied, looking at the ponies.
"There are two mutants, which you can see by the fire. They showed no aggression towards us and seem to understand us. What shall we do with them?"
"Wait a second, let me take a look," the colonel said and took a step towards the ponies. He looked at them carefully while the guards pointed their gun's muzzles to the ponies. "Well, it seems they are horses."
"Horses?" Andrew asked in a surprised voice. He has never seen any horses alive, only on the old, pre-war photos.
"Well, I think so. That gray one seems to be the one when the lavender is more like a pony," Miller frowned. "But how did the gray one manage to attach those mechanical legs? Or were they attached with assistance?"
"I have no idea, colonel," Andrew replied. "Maybe we should take them to the base? The outer post is not the best place to talk about mutants, you know."
Half an hour later Twilight, Morn, and Miller were in the large room somewhere in D-6 complex. Miller was now in a wheelchair. The room had a large column in the center of the room. There was no furniture nor electronics in the room. However, a half-erased inscription said, that the room was the armory.
"So... Can you talk?" Miller asked, unsure of the answer. He was in two meters before Twilight and Morn.
"We can," Twilight said with a slight American accent. Miller was surprised.
"And... Where are you from?" he asked.
"From another world."
"Not from Moscow?"
"Is it the place we are in now?" Morn asked with a strong American accent. Miller nodded, too confused to say a word.
"So... Who are you?"
"We are ponies," Twilight replied.
"Ponies from another world? That's interesting," Miller chuckled, now calm. He understood that ponies will do no harm towards him. "And what are you doing here?"
"We don't even know," Twilight said, frowning. "The portal from our world led us here and there's no way we can go back."
"So, you are stuck here, aren't you?"
"Definitely," Morn frowned. "And who are you?"
"I am Colonel Miller, the head of Sparta."
"And what's Sparta?"
"An organization in our metro which protects its population from mutants," Miller replied. "However, our organization has little forces left, we've almost lost our main base and now we are repairing it. And what are you two capable of doing?"
"It's not hard for us to hold or carry stuff," Twilight replied. She and Morn decided not to tell about their magical abilities yet.
"And how exactly can you do this?"
"With mouth, of course," Morn replied, surprising Miller. Carrying something with a mouth? He never thought that horses could carry anything in any way but using saddlebags.
"Well, after we found you two you had those things," Miller said and pointed at ponies' saddlebags which were lying near the colonel. "I looked in them and found this," the colonel took a radio out of his pocket. "What is it? A radio?"
"Well, yes," Twilight replied. She turned it off when she and Morn were sitting by the fire, just in case. "It doesn't work, I think."
"Alright, then," Miller said, putting the radio in the saddlebag. "I'll order to bring something for you to sleep on. I think you need some rest. Do you have any questions?"
"Only one," Morn raised his hoof. "Why are you helping us? You don't even know who we are."
"I can't allow myself to make the same mistake again," Miller replied. "Well, I have to go now. I shall talk to you later."
Miller opened the door and left the room using his wheelchair. A minute later two men walked in, put two large mattresses and left, closing the door behind them. Morn and Twilight walked to the mattresses and picked them up. They brought it to the far corner and put them together as there was not enough room for Morn on the one mattress. They fell asleep quickly, tired because of the previous events.
