Of Scary Ursas and Nice Stallions - Chapter 1

On a foggy morning in the middle of the Whitetail wood, a bright blue unicorn mare was sitting by a stream, drinking from it's cool and refreshing liquid. As she sat up from the calm of the stream she began to pant heavily, after all, she had been running all night from an Ursa Major, which was no easy feat.
"Alright Trixie, you've probably outrun that beast by now." she said to herself. She let out a sigh, one of both relief and sorrow, slumping over she said, "Great, now not only is Trixie homeless, she is lost too. At least this isn't Everfree." she shuddered at the very thought."And if that Ursa was in there, who knows how many other of those constellation beasts are as well."
She let out another sigh, this one much heavier than the last,"Guess I'm not that 'Great and Powerful' after all. I guess I shouldn't speak in the third pony either," she chuckled a little," I bet it's safe to go back to Ponyville by now, after all, if the Ursa ate thenm all, it shouldn't be hungry anymore." She began her walk down the main trail of the Whitetail Wood, it was a long walk for such a small mare, but she thought she would be able to make it back before sunset, or at least before midnight.After all, it had been a whole night of terror for Trixie, the Ursa was bound to have given up, and it would be asleep again by now, the constellation beasts were, after all, nocturnal.
The dirt path was long and winding, it's edges lined with beautiful pine trees, the evergreens' needles littered the floor of the forest, giving it an orange hue. Through the trees animals played and scurried about, squirrels, chipmunks, and of course the namesake of Whitetail Wood, the deer, who seemed to protect the creatures of the forest who ,without a doubt, would have been wiped out of existance by the horrid creatures of the neighboring Everfree forest, and unfortunately by Ponyville as it expanded.
(But enough of that tangent)
Trixie wondered what she would return to, weather it would be a desolate wasteland of a destroyed town, or perhaps the Ursa didn't do taht much damage, for all she knew it only wanted those "two little fools", as she called them, for waking it up.
As the time got closer to noon, Trixie noticed the woods thinning into a more moderate ammount, meaning that she was getting closer to town. Fearing for the worst, she prepared herself for what ruins of a town she expected. In only about half of a kilometer she would be upon the town and whatever condition it was in. However to her suprise, upon reaching the one of the main roads into Ponyville, that the town was standing in nearly perfect condition. The only noticeable changes were that the town's water tower resevoir was missing, which was unimportant, at least to Trixie it was.
She approached the town, with caution at first, in case the Ursa was still in town with everyone hiding. But she saw the first sign of life from a pink mare, her curly pink mane in a style that seemed to mimic cotton candy.
"Hi there! You must be new in town cause I havnen't met you and I've met everypony in Ponyville and they're all my friends." she went off with words exceeding the speed of Spitfire, leader of the Wonderbolts.
"Actually I was here yesterday.Don't you remember the Great and Powerful Trixie?" she replied
"Yeah she was a real meanie to everypony."
"Umm, I'm standing right in front of you Ms.?"
"Pinkie Pie, and there's no way you could be Trixie, she had a cape and hat and would never care about anyone but herself." the words angered Trixie
"You dare to talk to the Great and Powerful Trixie in such a manner?"
"Well you could be Trixie...but you still don't look like her just yet-" then Pinkie ran off into the village and within seconds was back with Trixie's signature star embroidered hat and cape.
"WERE YOU IN MY CART?!' Trixie exclaimed as Pinkie put the hat on top of Trixie's head.
"Wow you look just like her!" Pinkie said gleefully. "Wait , why is that a good thing?" she said, Trixie gave an annoyed grunt to the comment.
"Well it's good to see you're ok! Hope to see you around Ponyville!" Pinkie said before leaving the angry unicorn on the road by herself, grumbling to herself. Since Trixie had never invited anypony into her live-in cart,the idea of somepony going in there made her uneasy. However, against her normal standards, she let out a sigh and continued her way into the town square where her cart was parked.
Everypony was outside enjoying the safety of their,now ursa free, town. Many were browsing the shops and stands that were lining the streets, the many salesponies selling the fruits of their labor, most of which were actual fruits, being that many of Ponyville's residents were farmers and occupations of that nature.
As Trixie got closer to where her cart was parked, her mouth went agape, instead of a beautiful cart/stage/trailer, there was a heap of debris lying in front of the mayor's office, with a team of construction ponies clearing it all away. She ran over to the destroyed cart.
"What happened here?" she asked
"An Ursa Minor came through here and destroyed some magician's cart last night, guess she wasn't in it though."
Trixie sat on her haunches and began to cry, all of her family's heirlooms were in that cart, with the exception of the hat plaed on her head and the cape around her neck.
"Did you get anything out of there?" she asked, almost pleading.
"Nah, everything in there got destroyed."
Now Trixie started bawling, everything she owned, destroyed, all because she talked herself up too much to some little brats.
