Misty's Adventure in Equestria
A Stranger in Ponyville
Load Full StoryMisty opened her eyes feeling a sense of refresh and renewal, also a drowsy like type of feeling one gets if they were in a deep sleep. She felt the sun beating down on her back as if it were rubbing the warmth up and down her cold body. She sat up and blinked ahead at the cloudy blue sky and sleepily rubbed her left eyes. Was she still dreaming? She gasped as whatever was supporting her suddenly vanished and she was falling helplessly through empty air, "Sorry! Didn't see you!" A female voice called and faded. Misty spread her wings while beating them out of pure instinct and her body jerked into the right position as she hovered. Her heart was beating hard like someone was punching it countless times, and suddenly felt very much awake. Where was she? She lifted her right hoof and moved it with a confused look, then glanced down to study herself. She was a Pegasus with a white coat and a spiked mane. She was wearing a blue headband and noted a wired blue and white outfit that she was wearing. What was going on?! She tried to remember, but everything was blank except her name.
"Get out of the way!" Another pony yelled coming straight toward her while pulling a sky taxi full of ponies. Misty dashed to the left and began to descend down to the town below. It was no use staying in the sky. Plus her wings were getting tired. As her hooves planted onto the dirt street, she glanced around and noticed some odd stares. Why was everyone staring at her? It's the dress you're wearing she suddenly realized. A filly next to his unicorn mother pointed accusingly at her, "Mom, why is she wearing-" the Mom urged the filly forward and looked back at Misty, "Don't point honey, some ponies wear clothes for enjoyment remember?" Misty gulped and lowered her head to avoid some ponies stares and her ears laid flat on her head. She felt like she was some sort of alien from a wired planet and wished the ground would swallow her up. "Hey miss! Want some apples?!" A small voice asked behind her. Misty whirled around to face a yellow filly holding a basket of apples on her head and beaming, "Uh, sure?" She said in more of a question. The fillies' face turned serious and she held out a hoof, "That'll be ten bits per apple!"
"Apple bloom!" A orange earth pony approached from a stand of apples, "I can take it from here. Why don't ya go meet up with yer friends?" As the filly took off, the orange earth pony stopped when she was close enough to the Pegasus and sighed, "I beg yer pardn' ma'm. Apple bloom was just very eager to get the chores done so she can see 'er friends. "Uh, no.. Problem." Misty answered awkwardly. The pony tilted her brown hat farther up and stared hard at her face, "Hey, ya'll ain't around from here, are ya?" Misty shook her head.
"Where ya from?"
"I'm not sure. I don't remember anything miss...?"
"Applejack." The pony answered and tilted her hat and nodded, "Geez, ya can't remember? I hope ya at least know yer name!" Misty nodded and stared down, "Misty." Applejack held out her hoof and gave a smile that made Misty feel a bit more at ease, "Howdy!" Misty took it and shook it, and looked back just in time to catch a stallion staring at her then swiveled his head away, "Um, do you know somewhere that I can stay? Or at least until I can get out of these clothes?" She shyly asked and tilted her head toward the other ponies. Applejack seemed to suddenly understand why she was uncomfortable and shook a curled hoof at some ponies, "Hey! She's new around here, and it's not like she's the only pony in Equestria who wears clothes! So stop gawkin' and get back to what your doing!" The other ponies stopped staring and went back to whatever they were doing as if suddenly Misty turned invisible. Applejack put a hoof around her, "Of course! Just come with me and I'll get ya settled."
Applejack took Misty to her home, which Applejack called, "Sweet Apple Acres! We produce the best apples here in Equestria!" And said she could get out of her clothes now. Misty felt uncomfortable being watched, so AJ left her in her own room with the door shut. After Misty got out of her wired clothes, she leaned out the window and looked out into the orchard. "At least I met someone- er- somepony really nice." She said to herself, "But I have no idea where to go from here, or even where to stay." She looked up at the now cloudless sky, "Ponies. I'm in a world of ponies. Why do I feel so weird saying that? Haven't I always been a pony?" She ran her hoof over the wood and gazed out. Suddenly it looked like one of the trees caught on fire. Then another. And another! She stared with her mouth open as the orchard was engulfed in Flames and drew closer until:
"Misty! Misty! Why are ya staring at the orchard like that?!" Misty blinked and the flames were gone. Applejack was shaking her and Misty cleared her throat, "The Orchard was on fire!" Applejack stared at her like she was crazy, "Perhaps it was a freaky mirage-"
"No!" Misty insisted not caring that she sounded like a filly, "I could feel the heat! I'm gonna go check on it!" Before the orange pony could stop her, she flew out the window toward the imaginary burning orchard.Misty opened her eyes feeling a sense of refresh and renewal, also a drowsy like type of feeling one gets if they were in a deep sleep.
