"I Would Like To Be Your Mare" is a 1961 single written by Sweetie Belle and originally recorded by Babs Seed. Babs was sent to recording the single when a Canterlot RCA executive was listening to a song by the Manehattan Elementary School Choir ("A Lovely Way To Spend An Evening", which was released on the Manehattan label) and signed her to a contract lasting ten years. The single took off immediately, eventually peaking at #3 on the EQ pop charts. It was since recorded by many artists, including Sweetie Belle herself.

The B-side "Hither, Thither, Yon" is the same as the Brook Benton record; when it failed to reach Equestrian charts in a major way, Babs recorded it and the A-side's success pushed the B-side into the EQ Top 20, peaking at a stealthy #12.
