Chapter 1- The Beginning Of My Past, The End of my Sorrow
The memories hurt, I thought. The feeling of seeing them lose their lives in front of me. I heard their voices as I cry myself to sleep every night. I felt their pain unravel into my heart. The darkness.. the hatred. I’m alone and scared. But, that didn’t mean I gave up there. I stop to look up to see Mrs.Cheerlie with a group of fillies. Ever since the kill, I didn’t talk or meet anypony. I only knew my family and Sombra. And it will stay that way as long as I helped it.
I continue to walk, staring at the ground. The only thing i had was my cutie mark. I look back and see everypony smile. I don’t remember my happiness. I only know of sadness and being scared. Suddenly, I bump into an Alicorn with a purple mane with pink and purple highlights. “Oh, I’m sorry.” I look up and back up a bit, then rub my leg looking down “I-it’s fine.” The Alicorn walks up to me and hugs me. “Are you alright?”
I didn't know anymore. I didn't want to end-up into this situation. I couldn’t be a friend because of him. I couldn't live a happy life. After a minute of silence, the Alicorn smiled. “Let me introduce myself. My name is Twilight Sparkle.” I nod, and sigh. “It’s.. nice to meet you, I guess.” Twilight takes my chin and lifts it up. “Mind telling why you look so.. upset?” I gently push her hoof away and starts walking. “I’m fine… I’m going home now.”
Twilight looked at me worriedly, then sets off to her castle. After a few hours walking on my hooves, I reach a small village. It looked as if it only had around 6 houses on each side, then one on the front. I head down to the village. One thing was for sure, everypony smiled. It gave a shiver down my spine, knowing those smiles was not the kind that normal ponies gave. As I walk by the smiling ponies, I notice they stared at me, greeting me with only the word “welcome”. Soon I reach in front of a pink-purple skin unicorn, as her mane was purple with a blue and light purple highlight.
“Welcome! I am so glad to see a new face!” I back up a bit, then sat down. “Where am I?” The mare smiles and puts her hoof on her chest. “First, let me introduce myself. I am Starlight Glimmer, and you are in a village where everypony is happy!” I look around. I didn’t see any interest in being happy. “Now don’t be a downer, little one, anything that makes you miserable is that cutie mark of yours.”
Starlight gave a disgusted look at my cutie mark. What was wrong with my cutie mark? “I'm sorry but… mind if I ask why thats a case that came to mind?” Starlight then walks over to me and sits by me. “Cutie marks shows stress and it makes you think of others the wrong way.” “The.. wrong way?” I asked, staring at her blankly. “Why of course! Your cutie mark shows one talent that can be spread as a bad thing.” I never knew that, I thought. “Maybe if you come with me we can get that fixed.” I look at my cutie mark. Its the only thing i have out of my whole filly hood. I guess with this mare, I didn't really have a choice.
“Alright… we can go.” Starlight puts me on her back and carries me to the vault where the cutie marks were held. “Welcome to our cutie vault! Where all the misery and pain is trapped in glass!” I had my concern on this mare. Is it a trick? If she’s offering my talent to be taken away for a happier life, then I guess that okay. But it's also my memory from before.
I look down nervously as I got sat down on the ground. Then, Starlight comes over with a stick like staff. “You ready, little one?” I nodded my head slowly. “If its the right decision, then yes.” Starlight grinned as two stallions step behind me and grabs my arms holding me into place. “W-wait what's going on??” Starlight approaches me with a sinful grin. “Oh nothing, i'm just glad you made the right decision.”
At that moment, I made a mistake, I thought. I struggle, but my strength against the two stallions was no match. I look up as the magic from Starlight glow brighter, and she throws the magic from her staff as it surrounds me. “No! Stop this!” Starlight smiles again. “Sorry, but that can’t be requested. You’re one of us now.” The magic moves to where my cutie mark was, then suddenly i felt sharp pain around my cutie mark as it was being removed. I struggled as I winced and cried until it was off, then I got dropped on the floor. I looked up and seen my cutie mark being placed into the vault.
“Y-you.. tricked me..” I said in a weak and painful voice. “Of course not, you made this decision yourself.” She giggled and placed the staff back in place and came over to me. “Now you’re as equal as we are.” I was confused on what she meant until i seen an equal sign on my flank and my ears drop.
“What the.. what is that?” Starlight picks me up and lays me on one of the stallion’s back. “That’s your sign of you agreeing to be one of us, of course. Now, Double Diamond, take her to the village.” Double Diamond? Is that his name? “Yes, of course!” Double Diamond made his way into the village and into a small cottage where he lays me down on the couch.
“There, now you can relax until we have a meeting with you.” I sigh and rest my head on the pillow, and felt weak enough to sleep. I might as well forget my old horrible life, and live on being an equal for the rest of it. I made a mistake that may be acceptable after all. At least, I hoped. I hoped I didn’t mess up, not again at least. I was and am still scared. Question is...
What now?
