The Rules Have Changed

“After all she is the fastest flyer in equestria, she even set the dizzitron speed record, she is just magnificent!” Soarin’ says to Spitfire as he watches Rainbow dash and her team as they do their daily count of 200 laps.

He and Rainbow have had a very complicated relationship since she had arrived at the wonderbolt academy.

“Well rules say that you can’t fall for someone you are training, sorry Soarin’ it’s the rules.” Spitfire says as she counts rainbow dash out for the laps she had completed. “And I’ll try to keep last night’s events from cascading through the academy.” Soarin’s jaw dropped to the floor.

“YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT?” Soarin’ says with more than just a little fear in his voice.

“Yes but I’ll try not to let it spread to much.” Spitfire says as her eyes fix on Thunder Lane in particular. “unlike rainbow’s legs.” She says with an audible giggle.

“Oh fuck you spitfire.” Soarin’ says as he fly’s away angrily.

"No thanks!" She laughed after him.

Later in the day, after Rainbow Dash had finished her exercises,  she is in her assigned barracks with her team resting from a long day of hard work when Soarin’ bursts through the door screaming.

“RAINBOW DASH I NEED TO TALK TO YOU IMMEDIATELY.” Stunned by the volume of Soarin’s booming voice she walks over to him.

“Yes Sir?” she says, her voice trembling. “Rainbow, Spitfire found out!” Soarin says to her with just as much fear as when he was talking to Spitfire. “OH SHIT, well, umm, what happens now?”  Rainbow muttered with more embarrassment than fear.

“ I don’t know, but she said that she will try to keep it as low key as she can so word doesn’t spread through the camp.” He says to try and calm her down some. “Rainbow I know you're scared that she knows, but she also knows how much I love you and you love me, so I don’t think there will be a problem.” Soarin’ said in a very calming voice that sounded like a soft summer breeze blowing through the trees.

“Oh Celestia. Why can't she just keep her nose out of shit!” Rainbow said bitterly.

“Hey, don't worry we both still know that this is meant to be, right?” Soarin’ said to alleviate any superstition about the two of them.

“Of course Soarin’ there’s no one I’d rather be with, I love you.”  Rainbow said as Soarin’ wiped the tear from her face and gave her a small kiss on the muzzle.

“I’ll see you in the air tomorrow, ok babe?” Soarin’ said as he was leaving the barracks. “YES SIR.” Rainbow said as she leapt into the air and hovered motionlessly saluting her lover.
