The Seventh Element

When he woke up he first thought he was on a bed, the grass was that soft against his black coat but,as he turned around, his face slowly turned from bliss to confusion. He was in a forest. As he began to wonder why he was there a sudden realization came to him: Who am I? He began to look around in horror as he tried to remember who he was. His Family? No memories. Friends? Nothing. All he had were basics like speaking and the fact he was a unicorn so he could do magic. He kept going through every question that could help him with his identity questions until one remained: What is my name? He looked around desperate for clues about his life, he searched for hours until he rested his eyes on something he should have saw hours ago; his cutiemark. It was a black flame with silver embers floating. Did his name have anything to do with his cutiemark? After a few minutes of thought nothing came to him. Realising he wasn't getting anywhere with this, he decided that he needed to get out of this forest. "So..." he thought. "I'm going to need a name so that ponys can actually call me something until I get my memories back." He looked down at his cutiemark and a name came to him in a instant. "NightFire" he said aloud "I like it". As he journeyed through the woods it quickly became Nightfall so he decided to set up camp. After a few hours of collecting firewood he easily set the fire alight. He found a soft spot of ground to rest at and drifted off to sleep.

As soon as dawn came NightFire was already up. "Alright" he said "Time to get out of this stupid forest" and with that he set off. For most of the day he thought he was walking in circles until he heard somepony in the distance. "I know you want to get that food for you angel" it muttered, as went closer to the voice "but maybe we can just buy it from the market...". As NightFire came closer he noticed that the voice came from a mare and that she was talking to a bunny. Pretty strange, but this is coming from a guy who woke up with amnesia in a forest so he can't say much. As he walked over, he snapped a branch which made the mare scream "W-who's there!"

"Don't worry" NightFire assured her "I just wanted to ask you a question."

"Oh" said the pony "I thought you were a timber wolf"

"What's a timber wolf?" asked NightFire curiously.

"Y-you do not want to know. Trust me" replied the mare. "So, what do you want to know?"

"Where are we?" She saw NightFire with a serious look on his face. "Well we are in the Everfree forest, right next to Ponyville." she answered shyly

"Where?" NightFire asked.

She was about to answer, but then Angel, the bunny, started grabbing on the mares tail, pointing north into the forest. "Well, I gotta go or Angel here will get really upset. It was nice meeting you..."

"NightFire" He replied.

"My names Fluttershy, see you later!"

"Wait" exclaimed NightFire.

"Yeah?" Fluttershy asked puzzled

"Could you give directions to that place you called Ponyville?"

"Oh..Sure. Just head down that path until you reach a field, and you will see it from there." Flutter answered

"Thank you" and with that, NightFire headed down the pathway until he reached the field like she said and saw the town. It was busy and full of noise, filled with beautiful colours but one thing just stood out from the whole place, the castle. "That's weird" NightFire thought "Why would a Castle be in a little town like this?" As he went down the path to Ponyville, he began to wonder if anypony would recognise him. When he got to the edge, he took a deep breath and headed into town in search of answers.

When he got to the town, the bustle around the street made it really hard to navigate the place. Just when he got his bearings, a blue blur sped right past him, leaving him on the ground. When he looked up, he saw a pony with a look of worry run up to him "Hey are you alright?"

"Yeah" NightFire answered "Who are you?"

"Me?" she looked offended by this "I'm Rainbow Dash" she explained. This only gave NightFire a confused look on his face. "Fastest Flyer in all of equestria, Bearer of the element of loyalty, One of Princess Twilight Sparkles best friends!" When she mentioned Twilight Sparkle NightFire only got more confused. "You got amnesia or something?" Rainbow Dash asked jokingly with a smile on her face.

"Precisely" answered NightFire. To this Rainbow Dash stopped smiling. "Well that explains alot" She began to think a moment "I got it! Twilights probably has something to help you."

"That's great!" NightFire said "Where is she?"

"Oh, she lives there so she is probably there." and with that she pointed to the castle. NightFires jaw dropped "your kidding right?"

"Nope" Rainbow replied

"Why would a normal pony be living in a giant castle?" NightFire asked.

"Hehe, I forgot one little detail" Rainbow Dash said

"What?" NightFire asked

"Twilight Sparkle is a princess" Rainbow Dash muttered loudly. NightFires eyes widened, he was about to meet a princess and not even know it before Rainbow Dash mentioned it.

"Ohhh...Well that explains everything."

"It does?" asked Rainbow, puzzled

"Well it explains why you were wondering why I never heard of you when you put emphasis on being Twilights friend and why she lives in this castle so yeah, pretty much."

"Well ok then, lets go see if we can get your memories back" Rainbow replied cheerfully.

"Yeah, lets go" and with that they headed into the castle.
