Pinkie's Little Crush
Chapter One: The Special Day
A great deal of events occurred in Equestria within a brief period of time: Discord had escaped from his stone prison yet again,only to have been snt back by the six bearers of the Elements of Harmony; however in a final act of defiance, he unleashed his chaotic magic which manifested itself into a giant portal. The ponies of Equestria could see into an unknown world on the other side of the portal; a world inhabited by highly intellectual, bipedal, ape-like creatures. Earth. That is the name that the creatures named their home.
The ponies saw the creatures playing with plush toys the bear an ominous resemblance to the likes of them. They wear clothing adorned with the cutie marks, and drawings of ponies. These Humans, as ponies soon disctovered they'd named themselves, also enjoyed watching them through some sort of box. It seemed like a select few of these creatures chose to worship them. Months of research on the subject of the portal yielded nothing of value. Eventually, Celestia came to the conclusion that they were harmless to her subjects, and nation.
The Equestrians soon discovered that these people whom worship them deemed themselfs 'Bronies', a combination of the two words 'Bro' and 'Pony'. To thank them for their curious, yet loyal devotion, Princess Celestia had decided to do something that shocked everypony: just like heaven is believed to have guardian agels whom watch over people and protect them, Equestria would adopt a similiar system where guardian ponies would be assigned to individual Bronies, and Pegasisters alike.
Everypony agreed to this plan and began immediate construction on a migically imbued tower, commonly known as 'The E.H. Connection'; the E.H. was short for 'Equestrian-Human'. The tower itself connected Equestria to Earth: the home of the humans. Princess Celestia's faithful student, Twilight Sparkle, was in charge of keeping everything in order, from managing menial details, to the huge task of finding able-bodied unicorns to supply the tower with ample amounts of magic, which would keep the portal open. The lavender mare was also head of the council of ponies whom chose which ponies are assigned to which Human that they'll watch over. Following the months, everything was running smoothly and thus starts the beginning of our story.

Pinkie Pie woke up with the uncomfortable sensation of having her tail yanked and pulled at. She arched her neck backwards and saw Gummy playfully biting her tail, while staring aimlessly into her eyes. Pinkie smiled and giggled, “Let mommy sleep a little more, okay?” Gummy continued to pull on her tail, urging her to get out of bed. Slightly giggling, Pinkie laid back in bed. Before she went back to sleep, she took a quick glance at her calendar. The date had been circled a dozen times, each day behind it marked with an X by the same red marker.
That snapped her fully awake and alert, “Oh my gosh! Today is the day!” Today was the day that she would get assigned a Human to watch over. Pinkie quickly rolled out of bed, took a shower, ate some breakfast (The usual half-dozen cupcakes drenched in hot-sauce), and pulled out a diary, which she bought a couple days ago. The spine still cracked as the unlocked the buckle and turned to the next blank page. She hadn’t written anything serious in it, not yet anyways, just various cupcake recipes. However, That morning she wrote her first authentic entry.

Dear Diary, I can’t believe I almost slept in! I’m supposed to get a human today; I can’t wait! I wonder who I’m going to get, will it be a boy or a girl? Will they like parties? I really super-duper hope so! There are just so many things I want to know! I better get going, but I have to make sure that the Cakes will take care of Gummy while I’m gone first.

After waking up Mr. Cake, and telling her to take care of her pet alligator, Pinkie locked up Sugar Cube Corner’s front door and happily bounced off towards Fluttershy’s cottage.

“I’m sorry Angel, but I don’t have what I need to make that.” Mad and disappointed, Angel hopped away to sulk in a corner while begrudgingly nibbling on a carrot. Fluttershy sighed softly. Out of the corner of her sight, she spotted a curly pink tail in between the cushions of her couch. “Pinkie? Is that you? What are you doing in my couch.” Fluttershy squeaked as the pink pony twitched. “If you don’t mind me asking, that is.” No response. “Uhm, Pinkie?” Fluttershy tip-hooved closer to the couch, her heart beat steadily accelerating. She moved the cushions off and, to her surprise, it wasn’t Pinkie at all; just a tail for ‘Pin the Tail on the Pony’.
“Surprise!” Pinkie yelled as she appeared behind Fluttershy. Instinctively, Fluttershy let out an ear piercingly loud shriek. “Oh, I’m sorry Flutters, I’m just so excited for today!”
“Pinkie, you almost gave me a heart attack!”
“Sorry, but you said that we’ll go to E.H. Connection together today!”
“I was just about to go and get you, but since you’re here, let’s get going”
Pinkie walked out of Fluttershy’s cottage first, following Fluttershy but then she let out a gasp “oh my! I almost forgot it”

Fluttershy nodded. “Yes, she’s always here when somepony new is getting assigned.”
“Good, ‘cause I want to give her this book.” Pinkie passed a sky blue colored book over to Fluttershy. She looked at it with confusion.
“My Little Dashie?” She read the title aloud. “Pinkie where did this come from?”
Pinkie shrugged “I don’t know, that’s why I wanted to ask Twilight! I think a human wrote it, but I dunno.”
Both Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy slowly pushed the giant golden doors open. The rays of white light escaped from inside the main chamber, which temporarily blinding them both. Pinkie blinked her eyes as they adjusted to the extremely white, radiant light. She and Fluttershy stepped into the main chamber; Fluttershy bucked the door shut with her hind hoof.
The main lobby was busy with unicorns and pegasi rushing to their destinations. Twilight was sitting at the reception desk in the middle where stacks of paper work dwarfed her small frame. The purple unicorn spotted Pinkie and Fluttershy and waved them over. “Pinkie, Fluttershy, there you are! You’re both a bit early you know.”
“Heya, Twilight! Yeah, we know. Could we get started, though? I’m really, really, really, really excited!” Pinkie began hopping up and down with a giant grin plastered across her visage.
“Alright, alright, Pinkie, keep your mane on…” Twilight got out of her chair and beckoned for her two friends to follow her “Come this way and we’ll get started.”
Twilight led Pinkie down a long hallway. Fluttershy decided to stay in the main lobby and talk with somepony who was wearing a white coat, and glasses balanced across her muzzle. Twilight’s burst of purple magic opened a large pair of crimson and gold doors. Above them a sigh read ‘Human Archives’. Inside there were rows and rows of files lined against the walls. At the end stood Princess Celestia her self next to a huge computer-like screen.
“Pinkie Pie today is the day that you finally earn your right as a guardian pony.” Princess Celestia’s regal voice echoed through the halls. “We’ve already prepared everything, simply press this button and your human will be displayed.” The reagent of the sun waved a hoof towards the station with a large button on it.
Pinkie looked up at both Twilight and Celestia, and with a huge smile on her face she trotted over to the monitor, looked at the control panel laden with buttons. She turned around once more to get a reassuring nod from Celestia and Twilight. The button clicked loudly as Pinkie pressed it down, the sound echoed through the halls.
He woke to the sound of his alarm going off, startled by how loud it was. "Dammit, I've really need to find something quieter" , he thought to himself as he put on his worn out glasses and shifted out of bed. It was 5:01 in the morning, the time he gets up to get ready for school. Still half-asleep, he shuffled into the bathroom.
He looked into the mirror after splashing his face with cold water to be fully alert. His long, brown, curly hair was a mess; his brown eyes were irritated with the bright lights of the bathroom, which made them red, with ever-persistent dark circles under them. The left side of his mouth showed traces of dried drool, which added to the still-asleep look. He put down his towel and a change of clothes in to sink, then stepped into the shower.
Turning the knob to the left side, the ice cold water hits his chest. He always loved the cold, always enjoyed the cold air of winter. Even when it was thirty degrees outside, he would still put the A/C on the lowest temperature. His parents almost always complained about the cold.
After stepping out of the shower, drying himself off, and changing into his clean pair of clothes, his favorite rock band shirt with a matching black pair a jeans with a chain hanging on the side. Looking at the clock in his room, it was 5:24: plenty of time left. It was only a short walk to the kitchen for some breakfast, but he wasn’t still entirely awake. The contrast of the light from the bathroom, to the darkness of the hallway played tricks on his eyes.
A bowl with a spoon and milk in it lay on the table; next to it was his favorite cereal, Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Pouring the cinnamon goodness into the bowl, he noticed that his parent's bedroom door had opened, revealing his father. "Alberto, why do you always fill your bowl with milk to the top?"
"Because I refill my bowl with cereal ‘till the milk is gone Dad, you know that."
“Just leave me some of that too, you little shit." A smirk on his lips, and a brief chuckle followed the comment.
Alberto could barely contain his laughter, almost letting the food in his mouth spill out, “You watch way too many PewDiePie videos."
His father pointing an accusing finger at him "Well, you’re the one who introduced him to me!"
"Whatever." Alberto expressed his current mood with a shrug and shake of his head. As he was about to take another bite of the cinnamon amazingness, his father shouted the most random thing. "Hatsune is best Miku!"
At that point, Alberto laughed uncontrollably, pounding his fist on the table to stop from choking up cereal. "Shhh! Don't wake your mother up!"
"Then quit being random dad!" Al retorted.
His father gave him a caring look, and then went back to bed. After washing his bowl, Alberto grabbed his phone and backpack off of his bed, said goodbye to his Twilight Sparkle plushie, and headed out the door.
The walk to the bus stop was pleasant, with the cool autumn breeze blowing in the air. He was the first person to get picked up; his best friend was the next stop then, and his girlfriend. He was pretty disappointed when she called him last night, telling him "You better take me to the movies tonight". The threat was a benign tumor, taking form in the back of his mind and instilling worry into him. With a screech, the school bus stopped in front of him and the double doors creaked opened. He liked getting picked up first and have the whole bus to himself, enjoying the peace and quiet.
Twenty minutes later the bus stopped at the second stop. Few guys he knew came in and took their place in the back. Eventually his best friend, Nathan, came up the stairs. He had short black hair with a beard to match. Of course, he had his ear buds in and was listening to his iPod. As usual, Nathan sand to one of his favorite songs, "'Cause I really always knew that my little crime would be cold that's why I got a heater for your thighs. And I know, I know it's not your time, But bye, bye." Everyone on the bus loved to hear him sing, that is everyone except Melissa, Alberto’s girlfriend.
Another thirty minutes later, the bus pulled up at the last stop, this was Melissa's stop; the doors opened and walked over to my seat. She had long brown hair, caramel colored skin, and dark eyes. She spoke to him in a bitter voice, "Well?" Expecting an answer to the tacit question.
Alberto glanced at the wall. "Well, what?"
"Are you going to take me to a mov-"
"No." His answer cut off her question.
Melissa stared at him in shock. "What did you just say?"
"I said no." He replied blankly.
She let out a frustrating groan and sat at the seat in front of them and said, "You’re lucky that I'm your girlfriend. I can change that, you know."
He stared at disbelief "Are you serious? You’re threatening me because I don’t want to go see a crappy movie? Really” Alberto sighed again, his palms rested against his forehead. He looked up to Melissa through the cracks in his fingers and said, “Look, I need to tell you something."
"What is it?" She asked, concerned. When Alberto opened his mouth to tell her, the bus stopped at the school campus.
"I'll tell you at lunch." He said, and with that everyone got off the bus and went their separate ways. Nathan had shouldered his backpack and was following a few steps behind Alberto as they neared the school’s entrance.

Princess Celestia, Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie waited patiently as the giant monitor scanned the contents of the archives. After a few moments a small noise indicated that the computer had finished running the pre-requisite calculations for the human selection process. Several screens popped up showing various information about one human. Twilight stepped up and read the basic info out loud, “Let’s see. Their full name is Alberto Jesus Laureano. Gender: male. Age: nineteen...”
Pinkie stared at the image with a wide grin, thinking, My human! My very first human!
“Alright. Pinkie, you already know about the Pip-Pony 3000, which Fluttershy has, correct?”
Pinkie took her gaze away from the picture and nodded erratically with excitement. “Well, have you noticed that the other Ponies weren’t wearing them?” Twilight inquired.
“I did notice that they were wearing these really pretty necklaces!”
“That is your other option, as opposed to the Pip-Pony 3000”. Princess Celestia stepped forward and spoke as she used her magic to form a small pink balloon shaped necklace out of thin air. “Pinkie Pie, what is your choice?”
Pinkie took a moment to think, comparing the cumbersome, yet informative bracelet, or the innocent looking necklace. The Pip-Pony 3000 looks pretty heavy to wear... and that necklace will look really really cute on me! That settled it.
“The necklace!” Pinkie decided.
Celestia’s golden aura slowly moved the necklace towards Pinkie’s head. The clasp clicked shut behind her neck. The piece of jewelry fit perfectly. The necklace glowed purple with magic for a brief second as Twilight copied the data onto the necklace. “All you have to do is tap the necklace twice with and the data will appear in front of you, like a hologram of sorts.” Twilight instructed.
Pinkie tapped the necklace twice and multiple small holographic screens appeared in front of her, four small screens circling a rather larger screen in the center. The center showed a small picture of the human, along with the simple information that Twilight had said out loud. Twilight walked next to her and explained what each screen is for.
"Listen carefully Pinkie: each of these monitors have a specific meaning. This one here shows his current health, both mentally and physically.” Twilight pointed with her hoof to one of the slowly circling screens. “This one shows his diet, weight, circulatory system and his pulse. The necklace has an alarm feature to alert you of what dangers your human is facing, the darker the necklace gets, the more danger he's in. Tomorrow I'll show you what to do if this ever happens. That gauge at the bottom left there shows how much awareness he has. I know that you think that most of this isn't important but later on it may be. It may even save your human’s life."
Pinkie listened thoroughly as she watched Twilight scan through the small screens and swiping through the main screen. After Twilight was finished instructing Pinkie on how to use it, the princess stepped forwards and congratulated Pinkie. A guard galloped up to her with a worried look and whispered something into her ear. Celestia excused herself and departed for a important meeting she was supposed to have been at ten minutes ago.
Twilight shut down the giant monitor while Pinkie continued to look through what type of food he ate and cringed at the fact that various kinds of meat were in his diet. How could you eat other living things? The thought disgusted her. The lavender unicorn started locking the archives up for security maintenance and shooed Pinkie out of the room. She took one last glance to make sure that everything was secure before shutting the giant doors with her telekinesis.
"So how do you feel about all of this Pinkie?" Twilight asked as her horn’s glow dimmed.
Pinkie had a large smile on her face as she said, "This is so exciting! I can't wait ‘til tomorrow!"
"That's great! I still need to show you a few things, but as for now, why don’t we go chat ‘Shy. She should be around here somewhere.."
Pinkie and Twilight walked back to the reception desk. Fluttershy was staring down at her hoof, checking a something on her Pip-Pony. Twilight nodded to Fluttershy and sat back on her chair and resumed filing papers. Pinkie remembered what she was supposed to give Twilight something.
"Oh, I almost forgot, Twilight, here!". Pinkie handled her the paperback book she had brought with her. "It's a short story written by some human. It’s about Dashie! I think you'll like it!"
Twilight stared at the cover, "My Little Dashie...” The unicorn read the title out loud and flipped it over to read the synopsis. “Sounds interesting. Alright, I'll read it on my break."
With that, she put the book next to her saddlebags hanging off of her chair. Pinkie stood next to Fluttershy examining what she was doing. Fluttershy was checking the medical reports made about her human’s broken arm. After she was done, Fluttershy and Pinkie waved Twilight goodbye and headed off towards Sugarcube Corner while Pinkie told Fluttershy about her human.
