It was a cloudy and oddly quiet night in Ponyville. Pinkie was in her room playing with her pet gator Gummy. Balloons were on the floor, and streamers were on top of her bed, and Gummy was in the center of it all, with Pinkie placing confetti on top of his scaly back.
"Wow Gummy. I've tried tying balloons to your tail and putting streamers on top of your head like a wig, but you just don't seem festive enough for your second birthday!" Pinkie giggled.
"Pinkie, what are you doing?" Two familiar voices called from the entrance of her room.
Pinkie looked up and saw her two bosses: Mrs. Cupcake and Mr. Carrot Cake, and they seemed rather confused at the site of confetti on top of her pet gator, as well as streamers and balloons scattered on the floor of her room, even though this would be a normal atmosphere for the likes of their employee.
"Oh, hey Mr. and Mrs. Cakes! I'm just preparing Gummy for his party! Now, what do you think I should do? Should he go with a wig of streamers? How about a tail with balloons! Or maybe we can make him look like a cupcake, and sprinkle him with confetti!" Pinkie said as she held up Gummy as well as the three items she mentioned.
The Cakes smiled at each other with looks of humor in their eyes.
"Maybe you could just give him his usual?" Mr. Carrot Cake suggested.
"His usual?" Pinkie questioned. "Oh! You're right! His usual! Be right back!"
With that said, Pinkie bolted out of the room and came right back with a small hat and bow tie. She then carefully placed the two items onto Gummy and smiled with delight.
"Now that is faaaancy!" Pinkie said with great enthusiasm as she admired Gummy's attire.
"He looks ready for the party!" Mr. Carrot Cake complimented. "Which is in…uh…"
"Two hours, forty minutes, and thirty one seconds!" Pinkie said. "No wait, make that twenty nine seconds."
"Have you given out all the invitations?" Mrs. Cupcake asked.
"Yep! Twilight, Spike, Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and me!" Pinkie giggled as she placed an invitation in her mane.
"Would you like to go and check up on them?" Mr. Carrot Cake asked.
"Sure thing! They're hanging out at Twilight's place. I would of stayed with them, but I had to get Gummy all gussied up for the party here!" Pinkie answered as she grabbed her satchel that she had filled with party favors.
"Well, good luck. Don't stay out too long. We ordered a special surprise for Gummy that will not last forever." Mrs. Cupcake said with a happy smile.
"Ooh, that sounds interesting! I can't wait! Come on, Gummy. Let's go check up on our friends!" Pinkie cheered as she placed the fancy gator on her back and hopped out of her room and out of SugarCube Corner.
It was cloudy outside, though it still remained quiet. The streets were filled with the low moans of the wind, but Pinkie didn't seem to pay attention to the odd lonely feeling the village contained. She just kept hopping happily over to Twilight's home with Gummy bumping up and down on her back.
"This is going to be so fun, Gummy! When we remind our friends about the party, they'll follow us all the way to home, where we will be surprised by whatever the Cakes have for us! Then we'll all dance, eat cake, play games, and you can show off all of your fanciness." Pinkie giggled as she took one quick look at his outfit.
Gummy looked at Pinkie with a confused look as usual with his eyes looking in opposite directions at once, making Pinkie laugh.
"This is going to be one awesome party." Pinkie said as she nuzzled his nose. "…Just hope it doesn't turn out like last time……"
Pinkie then looked around and finally noticed the gloomy atmosphere around her. It reminded her of past events…events of her past parties. Parties that turned into terrible fiascos. It was as if this gloomy atmosphere appeared just to bring back those memories. For some odd reason, it was if everypony in town was gone. Suddenly, a chilling, blood-curdling wind swept through the town and ran up Pinkie's spine, giving her shivers.
"Heh, it seems we should of left earlier to go to Twilight's place." Pinkie said in nervousness as she kept galloping with a smile still kept on her face.
The atmosphere filled with a heavier feeling of anxiety as she advanced to Twilight's place. Pinkie could see lights coming from her house, which gave her hope. However, it made her feel uncomfortable as well, due to the fact that it seemed as if every home and shop in Ponyville looked dead. This made Pinkie think back to when everypony was avoiding her, when really, they were throwing a party for her all along, but this time, there was no need to avoid her. She knew that this time it was Gummy's birthday and not hers. She knew this time when her birthday will come, and that her friends will have something for her. So what was with all the deadness?
"Hmm…maybe they're just all asleep…all at once…" Pinkie said out loud.
Suddenly, she heard a loud scream coming from Twilight's castle, just a few hundred feet away.
"Quick Gummy! Seems like somepony needs our help!" Pinkie said as she shook off the thoughts and rushed toward Twilight's house.
Once she arrived, Pinkie busted open the doors of the castle and stood with a worried look on her face, thinking that she would find somepony hurt. Turns out, it was a huge crowd of ponies surrounding her old friend Rarity who seemed to have spilt something on herself.
"I can't believe I could of been so clumsy enough to trip on my own hooves! It'll take forever to get this dreaded grape juice stain out of my fur, and I just got a deep tissue massage today that came with a free coat rinse!" Rarity cried out.
"Uh……Hey, everypony. Guess who it is?" Pinkie asked.
Everypony in the room turned their attention to Pinkie, who still kept a smile on her face. She looked at everypony, and it seemed that the whole entire town was there. Just then, Twilight Sparkle appeared from the crowd with a confused face.
"Hey, Pinkie…didn't you say you had to stay home today?" Twilight asked.
"Yes, I did, Twilight, but I came back to let you know that today is Gummy's birthday!" Pinkie said with a happy grin.
"Gummy's birthday? Oh!…You're right…oh…" Twilight trailed off.
Pinkie's happy grin had turned into a smile, but her eyes had saddened a bit.
"You did remember Gummy's birthday, didn't you? I gave you guys the invitations just this morning." Pinkie spoke.
"We know that, Pinkie, and you did a good job at that too!" Twilight smiled sheepishly. "It's just……well……"
"The town wanted to throw us another celebration since we've helped out so much in the past years." Applejack interrupted.
"The past?" Pinkie questioned.
Thoughts of the past filled Pinkie's mind. The past parties that were total failures and brought great disturbance as well as misinterpretation. Parties like the day she was shown up by Cheese Sandwich and abandoned by the town, or like the day she felt like she was being avoided by her friends. Both scenarios…we're just like right now.
"No hard feelings, but we can't let the town down. We can celebrate Gummy's birthday later, Pinkie. We should at least let this town know that we care for them as much as they do for us." Rainbow Dash explained.
Pinkie looked at Gummy with a frown beginning to form at the tips of her mouth. This was supposed to be his special day alone. His birthday only came once a year. A party from the town could be thrown any day.
"Couldn't you just throw the party tomorrow?" Pinkie spoke with a small hint of anger in her tone.
"But some of us closed our shops early just for this party! We can't afford that twice in a row!" Some ponies from the crowd spoke up.
"Well…how about next week?" Pinkie suggested.
"Can't do it. We're having to do some remodeling for the town hall next week. Plus, We had this surprise planned just for today." Mayor Mare said.
Pinkie's left eye began to twitch…she wasn't appreciating this, especially after the fact that this had all happened to her before in different scenarios, and that the town should of known better.
"Pinkie…um…are you okay?" Fluttershy spoke in her soft voice from the quiet crowd.
"I…have to go home…there is a surprise waiting for Gummy that I have to get." Pinkie said in a hushed voice as she ran out of the castle with Gummy bouncing on her back.
"Pinkie! Wait!" Twilight spoke aloud.
The sound of Twilight's voice was drowned in the rushing sound of the lonely wind that swept the town. Tears were starting to well-up in Pinkie's eyes.
"I can't believe they would do this to me." Pinkie sniffed as she ran through the barren streets of Ponyville.
Once she had reached SugarCube Corner, she shut the door hard behind her, startling Mr. and Mrs. Cake.
"Something wrong, Pinkie?" Mr. Carrot Cake asked.
"Just the ponies pulling the wool over my eyes again." Pinkie said in a choked up voice as she placed Gummy gently on the table and sat down.
"What do you mean? Did somepony hurt your feelings?…Was it that party that they were having?" Mrs. Cupcake said.
"How did you know about the party?" Pinkie sniffed with her head on the table and her mane flattening little by little.
"Everypony was told about it including us, but we decided not to go since we had to help you with the preparations and the surprise gift for Gummy." Mr. Carrot Cake explained.
"Oh…right. What was the surprise gift, by the way?" Pinkie said with a slightly more upbeat tone.
"I'm glad you asked!" Mrs. Cupcake said as she went to the fridge. "The surprise is…a statue of Gummy carved in ice!"
Mr. Carrot Cake and Mrs. Cupcake then ran to the fridge and pulled out a small life-size statuette of Gummy carved into ice. They placed it on the table, and Gummy being curious, jumped off of Pinkie's back and sniffed at it. He then little by little licked at the statuette like it was ice cream, making Pinkie chuckle just a bit.
"That was nice…thank you, Mr and Mrs. Cake." Pinkie said with a sad smile as she lifted her head from the table with her flat mane.
"Uh, you don't look so good Pinkie. Do you need to lie down?" Mr. Carrot cake asked as he looked upon Pinkie's straight hair and eyes that were beginning to well up with tears.
"I'll be fine…come on Gummy. Let's go upstairs." Pinkie said as she grabbed Gummy and the ice carving replica of him and went upstairs.
As Pinkie galloped upstairs, she looked upon the pictures she took of the past parties she once threw. She remembered the last time that she looked upon these pictures was when she was shown up by Cheese Sandwich. It seemed as if the inspiration wouldn't help her now, since the same thing had happened again to her. It was as if she was going through a vicious cycle.
"Pinkie…are you okay?" Mrs. Cupcake said as she watched Pinkie stare silently at the pictures on the wall.
Slowly, Pinkie raised her left hoof up in the air and placed it on the wall. She continued to look at the pictures. The longer she looked, the more she smiled. Her smile kept getting bigger and bigger. Thoughts entered her mind, making her even happier. Then, with one quick swoop, she threw her hoof across the wall, making all the pictures come off their nails and down upon the floor. This startled Mrs. Cupcake.
"Pinkie Diane Pie! That was very rude! Put those pictures back up!" She demanded.
"Y-yes, ma'am…" Pinkie said with an odd tone as she bent down on the floor and started placing the pictures back where they were.
"Thank you…now why don't you go lie down? That wasn't normal for you." Mrs. Cupcake suggested calmly.
Pinkie drooped her head down in a melancholy fashion, but her grin had a sardonic tone to it as she gazed at the broken shards that came from the glass of the fallen pictures. She then turned around and made her way to her room with her head still down. Pinkie then opened her door and slammed it hard behind her, causing a few pictures from the hall to fall again.
"Such a lovely night tonight has turned out to be." Pinkie smiled as she placed Gummy on the bed and the ice Gummy on her nightstand. "I bet no pony would care if that thing melted while I was asleep…"
Pinkie then slowly crept into bed and curled up in the fetal position. She laid there for a while and began to ponder her life. The repetition was annoying. It was as if the very minute something else would happen, or somepony else would show up, she would be abandoned. Pinkie then reached for a nearby drawer and pulled out a half-eaten lollipop and started chewing on it while tears started slowly coming down her cheeks.
"When will this all end? Why can't this all end?" Pinkie mumbled as she chewed a bit on the stick.
"Pinkie, are you okay?" Mr. Carrot Cake said from behind the door.
"Go away…" Pinkie moaned.
"What was that?" Mr. Carrot Cake asked.
"I said go away…" Pinkie moaned with her voice a bit more tense.
"Oh, I should of known that leaving her in her room would be a bad idea. Pinkie, come on out! We don't want you to be alone. You seem like you need help!" Mrs. Cupcake said.
"I said go away!!" Pinkie yelled as she took the pointy bite marks from the half-eaten lollipop and threw it at the door, causing the piece of candy to shatter into tiny bits across the floor.
Pinkie then laid down, took her pillow, placed it on top of her head, and started crying. She couldn't take it anymore. She just wanted to be alone, but then again, she didn't want to be alone. She didn't know what to feel anymore.
"All my friends abandon me…they always abandon me. I only try the best I can! That's who I am! That's who I am!" Pinkie yelled out loud as she threw her pillow at the nightstand.
The sound of ice shattering sounded off as the pillow hit the statuette of Gummy. The site of the one good thing that Pinkie had received for Gummy's birthday made her stomach churn. All that wasn't broken into pieces was Gummy's head, which glistened in the light. Pinkie then yelled in frustration and picked up the head with great force of her front hooves.
"This is who I am!" Pinkie shouted as she took the head and flung it out the window, causing the glass of the window to shatter and the ice to break on the streets of Ponyville.
"Everything is dead to me…everything is dead to me! Nopony cares! Nopony cares!!" Pinkie yelled as the pupils in her eyes got smaller and smaller.
"We care, Pinkie!" Mrs. Cupcake shouted from outside her room.
"I-I……I know! I just……I just want to do something…something that involves…that involves…death…." Pinkie trailed off as she gave a blank stare out the shattered window and toward the castle.
"What did you say?" Mr. Carrot Cake questioned.
Suddenly, the door to Pinkie's room had been flung open by Pinkie herself. She stared at her bosses with the pupils in her eyes almost as small as a grain of sand. She was breathing heavily, and her mane had gone flat to where strands of her mane were covering up parts of her face, making her look as if she had just gotten out of an intense shower of rain.
"Mayor Mare…Was she the one who came up with the party?" Pinkie whispered.
"Well, she does represent the town, and she is in charge, so…yes." The Cakes answered silently.
A wide smile had appeared on Pinkie's face. She furrowed her brow as dark thoughts took birth inside her consciousness.
"Me and Gummy are going outside for a walk." Pinkie said calmly as she held her head high, but smiled darkly as she had her back turned to the Cakes.
"Are you okay, Pinkie? You sure you want to go outside?" Mr. Carrot Cake said.
"What did you do with the window?!" Mrs. Cupcake said as she looked inside her room.
"Shut up…It'll all be fine eventually…" Pinkie said under her breath.
§
The hoofsteps of Pinkie were heavy upon the dirt road of the silent village of Ponyville. It felt as if somepony had tied lead weights to her hooves as well as her stomach that churned with anxiety. She knew what she was going to do. She knew how everypony would react if they found out that it was her. Her mind and heart were having an inner battle with each other. At times she would stop dead in her tracks and shake off the dark intentions, but she kept on going, with her smile getting wider as she approached the castle of Twilight's.
"I can count on you to wait outside, right Gummy?" Pinkie said as she looked back at the green, cross-eyed gator.
Gummy blinked twice, sniffed the air, and licked at his nose.
"Good. Wait here." Pinkie said as she approached the castle and placed him outside the front door.
Pinkie stood back as she gazed at the door before her. She took a deep breath, smiled happily with a furrowed brow, and quietly snuck in. Thankfully, the sounds of ponies cheering and laughing drowned out the sound of her hoofsteps entering the room. She then gently closed the door behind her and looked around. It seemed most of the crowd was gathered around an odd looking picture of a poorly drawn equine.
"Oh, I just love pin the tail on the pony!" Rarity's voice spoke from the crowd.
Pinkie smiled. She liked that game too. Too bad that no pony didn't come over to her house to play it. Pinkie then slowly crept up to the crowd and looked over the shoulder of the others to get a good view of who the current player was. It seemed that a group of ponies with blindfolds were standing in a short line just a few feet from the picture. Mayor Mare seemed to be the first pony in line. Her turn was coming up next.
"Hey, Pinkie. You came back!…uh, are you okay?" Twilight's voice spoke from the crowd.
Pinkie looked and saw Twilight standing next to her. She looked at Pinkie as if she were looking at a ghost.
"Hello, Twilight…I see you are all playing a game…" Pinkie said as she looked at the ground, avoiding contact with Twilight's eyes.
"Uh…yeah, we are! Wanna join?" Twilight asked politely.
Pinkie watched as the pony who was up placed a pin that had a tail attached to it onto the picture. The pony then lifted up her blindfold and frowned in disappointment. She had placed the pin onto the pony's chest instead of the rump.
"Well that's my luck. Here Mayor Mare, you have a go." The pony spoke in a soft voice as she carefully placed the pin and tail onto the outstretched hoof of the blindfolded mayor.
"Thank you, dearie." Mayor Mare said as she spun around and approached the drawing.
"Pinkie, did you hear what I said?" Twilight questioned.
"I'll play." Pinkie finally responded as she slowly advanced toward the drawing.
"Wait, you got to get in line, first!" Twilight said.
"Yeah! No cutting!" A stallion in line said as he saw Pinkie cut in front of him.
"Hey! What gives!" A mare spoke up as Pinkie got ahead of her.
Pinkie still avoided eye contact with everypony. She now only kept her eyes upon the drawing where Mayor Mare stood with her pin.
"I'm trying to find out where the perfect spot to put this darn thing is!" The mayor cried.
"Here, let me help you!" Pinkie said as she leapt up, took the pin out of Mayor Mare's hoof, and stabbed it into her chest.
Mayor Mare cried in agony as the sharp tip drove deep into her chest. Pinkie pushed it deeper and deeper, causing blood to well up and spill out of her. This made her wail and moan as the colors from her face drained. She staggered, and tumbled here and there. Her body was failing fast as Pinkie stabbed the pin into her again and again.
"Yep, that's the spot…" Mayor Mare said as she finally collapsed onto the floor.
Everypony in the room had gone silent. Not a single word was uttered as the blood of the mayor slowly leaked out of her chest and stained the floor with a crimson pool. Pinkie just stood there. Thoughts were racing in her mind. Half of her felt relieved, while the other half could not comprehend the deed she had done.
"Pinkie……" Twilight said, breaking the deadly silence.
Pinkie's eyes were locked onto the dead body of the mayor. She dared not look at the crowd that stood before her. She could tell that they were all ashamed of her……no……shame was too good of an emotion for what they were possibly feeling.
Suddenly, Pinkie dashed through the crowd. Pushing down random ponies out of the way. She made it to the door, which she busted through. She saw Gummy, and quickly scooped him up with her hooves that were stained with blood.
"Come on, Gummy." Pinkie said as she placed him on her back.
"Pinkie!! Come back!" Twilight shouted as she and her friends ran after her.
"GO AWAY, TWILIGHT!" Pinkie shouted as she turned her head around to face her friends.
Twilight stopped where she was and gazed at Pinkie. Her eyes had become black as night. The blue iris of her eyes had faded to black, making her look soulless.
"Pinkie…what are you?" Twilight spoke with a shaken voice.
Pinkie didn't answer. She turned around, and sped off into the dark. She could hear thunder rumbling in the distance. A storm was approaching.
"First happiness…then disappointment…then regret. It has been happening again and again…" Pinkie mumbled under her breath as her hooves beat quickly as she sped into the dark town.
Suddenly, small drops of rain began to fall. She looked back to see if Gummy wasn't bothered with the change of weather, and looked to see that Twilight and her friends were still chasing after her.
"Pinkie! Come back! You can't run from this! We need to talk!" Rainbow Dash spoke up as she flew closer and closer to her.
"Stay away!" Pinkie spoke as she landed a punch on Rainbow Dash's cheek once she had approached her.
Thunder boomed once Rainbow Dash had fallen to the ground. She laid moaning in pain with some of her teeth knocked out and her wings lying unfolded and motionless on the dirt ground.
"How could you?" Rainbow Dash groaned as blood from her mouth poured onto the ground.
"Pinkie! You are hurtin' and killin' others! This has gotta stop right now!" Applejack said as the rain began to pour down on the six ponies and Gummy.
Pinkie stood back. She didn't know what she was doing. This wasn't her. She just had so much anger and sadness in her, she didn't know how to react in any other way.
"You…you all left me." Pinkie said as she stared at the ground with tears forming in her eyes.
"Left you? We never left you." Fluttershy said softly.
"Yes…you all did!! You left me! Every time I do something, I always get shown up, or you all think I'm crazy, and-and when everything clears up, it-it happens again! It always happens! The same process happens again! It's like……in-insanity…" Pinkie stuttered as her voice trailed off.
Silence fell upon the scene. The only sounds that were made were the sounds of thunder rumbling, rain pouring, and Rainbow Dash groaning in pain.
"Pinkie…we didn't know that this was happening…" Twilight spoke up.
"You probably don't even know half the stuff that is happening. How I feel when a process is being repeated, and believing with all your heart that a different outcome will be reached in due time, but that outcome never came!" Pinkie yelled with tears rolling down her cheeks as the intensity of the rain grew and grew.
"We can work this out, Pinkie. Just…calm down." Twilight said with a reassuring tone.
Pinkie now stared at Twilight with the same deadness in her eyes. She stared at her for a good minute, which gave Twilight an odd feeling of uncomfortableness.
"…And everything will be alright after that…?" Pinkie said in a half whisper.
"Yes!! Exactly! Now come over here!" Twilight spoke cheerfully.
Pinkie smiled…darkly.
"Just like all the other times." Pinkie grinned as she charged toward Twilight and sucker punched her to the ground.
Twilight fell onto the wet and muddy ground with mud being splashed in her face as Pinkie bashed her head repeatedly to the ground.
"How does it feel? How does it feel getting stabbed in the back?" Pinkie laughed as she shoved Twilight's face into the mud and kicked her stomach.
Suddenly, a hoof punched Pinkie in the cheek, causing her to fall on the ground next to Twilight with fresh blood on her mouth…but a smile on her face.
"It feels good." Rainbow Dash smiled sarcastically as she stared at the fallen body of the pink earth pony.
"Rainbow Dash!!" Applejack shouted.
"Hey, it was either her or Twilight!" Rainbow Dash snapped.
Pinkie's eyes still had the dark glow. She pretended to lay dead, hoping that they would think that they won.
"Twilight, are you okay?" Rainbow Dash asked as she leaned closely to Twilight and Pinkie.
Suddenly, Pinkie jumped up and lunged at the face of Rainbow Dash. Rainbow got ahold of Pinkie, flipped positions with her, and drove her face into the muddy ground. The thunder boomed as Pinkie slowly staggered up, and smiled with blood across her face and her mane as flat as ever.
"Looks like my friends want to finally have that party." Pinkie chuckled as she lunged at Rainbow Dash again.
"Try again." Rainbow Dash said as she jumped up and kicked Pinkie in the back of the head and flung her into Applejack and Fluttershy.
"Pinkie!! Wake up!" Applejack cried as she took ahold of her bloody cheeks.
"I am awake." Pinkie yelled as she flipped and uppercutted Applejack with her back hoof, making Applejack fall on the ground with a broken jaw.
"Pinkie……I don't even know you anymore!" Fluttershy cried in fear.
Pinkie looked at Fluttershy with a look of total soullessness. She slowly approached her and gently placed her hoof underneath Fluttershy's chin.
"Oh Fluttershy…I'm just the same old pony you once knew." Pinkie smiled darkly as she raised her other hoof preparing to punch her in the face.
"Think again, my friend." Twilight's voice spoke quickly.
Suddenly, Twilight's horn jabbed through Pinkie's back and out of her stomach with blood spilling on the ground. Pinkie's eyes rolled in the back of her head, and finally…she collapsed…
The rain began to gradually stop. Eventually it ceased, and the clouds broke, causing a huge shaft of light to shine upon the five ponies that surrounded the dead body of their old friend who lied peacefully in the mud.
"What the buck just happened?" Applejack spoke up in a slurred voice as she got up with many of her bottom teeth gone.
"Pinkie…pinkie is just what happened…" Rainbow Dash spoke up with her rain and blood soaked mane.
"Hey, wasn't Gummy with her?" Fluttershy said calmly with her hooves still shaking from her to-close-for-comfort experience with Pinkie.
"He's right there." Twilight spoke up as she pointed with her bloody horn to a small gator behind a nearby building.
Gummy slowly padded up to the scene. A shaft of light shined down upon Pinkie, and made the blood from her glisten in the misty atmosphere. He looked at her with his head tilted, and he blinked. He slowly padded to her mane and lifted a bit of it with his nose. He then lied down, and fell asleep next to her.
"Weird little alligator." Twilight said as she looked down upon him with a curious look.
"What now?" Rainbow Dash asked.
A long pause came from Twilight. She looked up at the sky above her. A small rainbow had seemed to appear above their heads.
"…Peace…let's just let Gummy have his time alone with her. I'll let the townsfolk know to not come to this part of town till the……body is removed…" Twilight said with a shudder once she had referred to Pinkie as the dead body.
"That sounds good enough…well…I guess…we'll be going now." Rainbow Dash said in a sad tone.
"I guess so." Twilight said as the five of them headed toward the castle.
Suddenly, Twilight's ears perked up in attention. She heard a small yap from Gummy. Twilight then looked and saw the small gator wagging his tail as he looked at Pinkie's mane.
"What is it, Gummy?" Twilight said as she neared Gummy.
Gummy went into Pinkie's mane and pulled out an envelope that was soaking wet. Twilight levitated it with her magic and opened it up. It seemed to be an invitation. She read the contents out loud.
"Dear friends," Twilight started. "You are all invited to Gummy's birthday party. He would be really happy for you guys to attend, and so would I. We're going to eat cake, dance, and maybe play pin the tail on the pony. It'll be fun. Please be sure to be there at nine o'clock on Saturday……on Saturday……"
Twilight's voice trailed off after that. Today was Friday.
"It seems one can't seem to see the details when they're blinded by insanity…I guess I was blind by not seeing this either…" Twilight spoke as she placed the letter next to Pinkie.
