//-------------------------------------------------------// War Of The Featured Box -by EpicGuy- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Beginning EpicGuy Adored //-------------------------------------------------------// The Beginning EpicGuy Adored Wind, sharp and cold, hurled itself against the hills and retreated in small wisps that brushed the tips of the grass. The sky was dark and unforgiving, no sunlight to be found. On one tall peak was a proud unicorn, mane a dark purple but fur clad in gold armor, who had a blank look upon his face as he gazed out at his twin hill only a few feet away. He shuffled his heavy hooves slightly, making the grass beneath whisper words of wisdom to his great ears. Across from this magnificient stallion was a petite mare. She too was in armor that covered the entirety of her fur. Her long, thick brown tail whipped in the wind and settled in unruly curls when the gale stopped for a split moment. Hard, clouded amber eyes were easily visible from under her crested helmet. Her horn, long and pointed at the tip, protruded from the silver casing and her eyelashes flared in the breeze. "Is this really what it has come to?" the stallion asked, his voice rich and strong. "To wage war against one another?" The mare was silent for a moment, and the wind tickled her nose slightly. "But of course, dear Tricondon." Her words attacked the male warrior, dripping with sarcasm and scorn. "We must settle this petty disagreement like mares." Tricondon was unfazed at her thinly veiled insult. He blinked once to wet his eyes that were instantly dried by the fierce gales. "Exactly my point, my dear EpicGuy..." He squared his shoulders. "You mentioned the word petty. Why must we battle for such a small case? Why is it of such value to you?" He looked genuinely concerned for the mental stability for his friend. "This is no joke!" she roared. "This is not about you or me; it is about our writing capabilities, our fanfictions aplenty!" Tricondon stiffened at hearing the word fanfiction. He thought to his own fanfiction; it was his one love and pasttime. Just the idea of it being pitted against another made him cringe. "Can't we settle this in some other form? Perhaps a writing competition?" His horn glowed a vibrant blue and he conjured up a silver laptop that had been directed to FIMFiction.net. "You can decide the prompt, if you wish." EpicGuy scowled at this gesture and conjured up a jet-black laptop of her own, set on her userpage. She sent a PM to Tricondon that simply read: "No. -Epic" Tricondon pouted and in a cloud of blue mist sent the laptop away. EpicGuy logged off and checked her notifications before doing the same. "I guess we must, then." said Tricondon. His solemn eyes reflected the pale light from a firefly that passed by. EpicGuy snorted, a smile on her face. "Who shall be victorious?" she sneered. "We shall find out, young grasshopper." The mare's patience fizzled and Tricondon could easily see the red beneath her thick armor. He allowed one tiny grin, nothing more. When neither she nor he said anything more, the mighty Tricondon summoned power from deep within himself and his horn glowed once more in a blueish hue. Deep in concentration, he closed his eyes and bit his lower lip. EpicGuy, though getting an urge to make a snide comment, declined to do so until he finished his duty, whatever it was. After a whole minute of the unicorn simply standing there with a glowing horn and a bleeding lip, even the wind seemed to yell "Get on with it!" So he did. In a violent flash of pure white light, EpicGuy and her companion were engulfed in his spell and blinded by the force of it. The firefly which lit the dim way fled into the depths of the rocky ledge below them and made a smart idea to stay there until further notice. EpicGuy's amber eyes grew and her mouth hung open in the highest degree of shock possible for a pony as Tricondon's spell began to take form. First it was an odd oval; then a square, then a pony head- finally it settled on a large, rectangular prisim accompanied by a smaller stool of some sort. As the matter cooled the colors began to show, the stool becoming crimson and the rectangle gaining tiny legs and becoming a dark brown like EpicGuy's wild mane. When it reached its final form, both could easily see Tricondon had summoned a piano and a small stool. "It's beautiful..." Tricondon petted the device gently, stroking the keys with great care. EpicGuy shook her head in confusion, her armor repeatedly hitting her cheeks. "Why in Celestia's name do we need a piano for a battle of grand proportions?" "For dramatic music, of course!" Although his rather large, armored hooves could not reach the keys, his horn shined once more and a delightful symphony began to play. "That is quite nice, but I need to get this over with so that I can continue with my multi-part story." EpicGuy complained. "I've already got five PM's threatening to sue me if I don't get Chapter 5 up by tonight." Tricondon, sadly, ended his symphony short but still gained applaused from the firefly below. He telekinectically packed up the large instrument and put it in his horn for further use at a different time. "Shall we begin?" EpicGuy's words oozed impatience. "Yes. I thought we would be here all day with your dawdling." EpicGuy snarled and leaped from her grand hill toward Tricondon's. Legs splayed and horn at the ready, she was the definition of vicious. "For Strong Enough! (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/24455/-Strong-Enough)" she cried. Tricondon, terrified but energized, jumped to his hooves and steadied his legs before jumping into the air. Behind him, thunder crashed and lightning raced across the sky in graceful zigzags. "For Darkness' Embrace! (http://www.fimfiction.net/story/13925/Darkness%27-Embrace)" His voice rang through the landscape as it mingled with the dull thunder. The air stilled for a fleeting moment as their horns touched and their gazes intertwined. The roar of battle was beyond their ears at that same moment, only nature and the coming storm echoing in their fragile eardrums. Everything was peaceful... Perfect, even... To Be Continued...
