Eternal Blizzard and Snow Angel. Pt. 2

Previous Chapter

A soft, somewhat cold, wind blew through the forests near the north of Equestria, a small group of young mares, and a young dragon were sitting in there, just enjoying the night as they sat around a campfire they had built. Three of those mares were just chatting while roasting marshmallows, while the young dragon lay near the campfire, asleep. the other three were laying inside their tents, sleeping calmly. The place seemed completely calm, and except for a little rustle of the leaves caused by the cold winds of the nights, it seemed to be that way. One of the ponies, a pegasus that was sitting around the campfire, Rainbow Dash, let out a somewhat bored sigh as she looked up to her alicorn friend, Twilight Sparkle, who had a few books around herself.

"So, Twilight, any horror stories in those books you decided to take here?" Dash raised her eyebrow as she looked around the books Twilight had brought with herself.

"Why'd you even bring 'em here?" Pinkie Pie, the other mare that was roasting marshmallows with them, turned her head to Twilight, looking down at the books as well. "I mean, it's the wilderness."

"Besides, if you wanted to come here to read, you could have stayed in Ponyville, instead of taking a train all the way over here." Rainbow Dash pointed out as she pulled her marshmallow away from the campfire with one of her wings.

Twilight let out a soft sigh as she closed her book, setting it down with the pile of books she had her assistant, the young dragon, Spike, bring for her. "I've just been hearing about some things that happen in these northern forests." she explained as he looked behind her, towards the mountains that were even further north from the place they were sitting. "Every night, ponies claim to see ice crystals falling from the sky near this area of the forest. I want to see if it's true."

Before the other two had any chance to answer, Twilight hushed them and looked up towards the sky, leaving them in complete silence, that was accompanied by a sudden, severe drop in the temperature of the air around them, causing the fire to suddenly go out, leaving it as only puffing smoke. The other three ponies that were sleeping, made their way out of the tents, confused looks on their faces. However, before they could even think up of anything they could say, small ice crystals, less like hailstones and more like diamonds made out of ice, started to slowly, and gently fall down on them.

"I guess the Ice Crystal thingamabobber you spoke about was right, Twilight" Pinkie Pie said as one of the diamonds landed softly on her nose and started to melt.

"Ice Crystals?" Fluttershy, the pink maned pegasus asked as she turned her head towards Twilight, her head tilted to the side a little bit. "is that what these things are called?" she asked as some crystals fell on her mane.

"An explanation would be much appreciated, Twilight." Applejack, the earth pony said as she adjusted her hat, her eyes turned towards Rarity, the unicorn, who was just staring into the sky, wide eyed. "uh... guys, I think Rarity is broken." she said with a chuckle as she shook the amazed Rarity, who was just staring at the ice crystals as they fell around her.

After about ten minutes of explaining, Twilight had gotten across what she had to say, and why she was interested in it. After she had heard about the diamond-like Ice Crystals that fell from the sky every single night, she decided to investigate them, how and when they came from the sky, and why the weather became incredibly cold every time it happened. All of a sudden, their chatting was stopped by the noise of two sets of rapidly flapping wings, loud enough to wake up the small dragon, who was still asleep, even with the group's chatting. As the noise got louder, the climate seemed to go back to normal, and as the cold left, so did the crystals.

"well, that's a pity." Twilight said as the crystals that were still falling started to melt, becoming a light rain that lasted for about ten seconds. "I really thought it would last more." she muttered, putting her hoof up to her chin, completely ignoring the noise of the flapping wings.

However, before Twilight could put much thought into what had happened, two young stallions landed right beside the place where the fireplace was just a few minutes earlier. "Hey, Blizz? isn't this where the smoke came from?" the smaller one of the two, asked, looking around a little bit as they started to walk, leaving frozen hoof prints on the ground as they walked around the small camp. As for the ponies and dragon that were there a few minutes ago, were hiding behind trees, poking their heads out so they could see the two stallions.

"I am pretty sure it did, big bro" the other stallion, said softly as he shook his head a little bit, to get his pink mane out of his eyes. "there was still some smoke somewhere near here before we landed." as the stallion turned to his older brother, his ears drooped a little bit, and a look of worried drew itself onto his face. "w-what if..."

Before the taller stallion could say a thing, the shorter one got closer and shook his head a little bit "the world doesn't end here, little guy!" he said softly as he put one of his front hooves onto the older stallion's head and scratched behind one of his ears. "didn't you see it? the world extends far beyond this... uh... place." the stallion kept on looking around for a few moments, as if he was looking for something in the ground.

The ponies that were there before not long ago, looked at each other, both confused and amazed at the sight of those two odd ponies. first, their coats were pure white, whiter than snow, and their manes looked like fluffy, pink and blue colored clouds. The shorter one of them, the one with the blue mane, who seemed to be the older of the two, was wearing a scarf that matched the color of his eyes. The taller one, the younger twin, had a small piercing on his lower lip.

"D'you guys think they're friendly?" Pinkie Pie asked, as she started to get out of the tree, only to be pulled away by Applejack, who was hiding behind the same tree as Pinkie was. "I mean, they just seem to be curious, don't they?"

"I mean, they do seem like they wouldn't hurt a fly." the young dragon pointed out as he climbed onto Twilight's back to have a better look at those ponies.

As the other six discussed what to do, Rainbow Dash let out an annoyed sigh and walked out from behind the tree, making her way towards one of the two twins and just saying a small "hi." with a smile on her face as the two stallions got closer to her, their heads slightly tilted to the side as they looked to each other.

"Ah, it's a lady, little brother~" the older one said as he stepped closer to the mare, looking at her as he adjusted his scarf and stood in front of Rainbow Dash. he wasn't all that tall, though he was tall enough that Dash had to look up a little bit, to look at him in the eye. "hello there, my name is Snow Angel." he said softly as he bowed his head just a little bit.

Dash just stared at him with a raised eyebrow, before giggling a little bit and shoving him away lightly. "you don't have to do that." she said with a chuckle as the stallion raised his head and blushed a little bit, a nervous smile on his face. "my name is Rainbow Dash." she said calmly as she took a step closer to the stallion.

"I'm Eternal Blizzard." the taller stallion said as he poked his head from behind his older brother and waved at Rainbow Dash, a wide grin on his face as he stepped to the side and and sat in front of her. A look of innocence and curiosity appeared on his face as he leaned forward to have a closer look at Dash's face. "she doesn't look like the mares of our town, big bro, does she?"

Snow Angel let out a sigh and shoved his hoof right into his younger brother's mouth, shaking his head a little bit. "you shouldn't go around saying stuff that way, Blizz. Not everyone understands what goes on in your head, little guy." he then turned to Rainbow Dash and let out a nervous chuckle as he noticed her raised brow. "u-uh... so, we come from the mountain." he pointed towards the mountain, with a nervous look on his face. "and we decided we wanted to explore the forests. t-that's why we're here."

"so that's it?" she said as she turned towards the trees, and flicked her tail, motioning her friends to come over. "and here we thought you were going to try and attack us." she said in a chuckle as she turned back to Snow Angel.

Before the two stallions knew what was happening, they were surrounded by the six curious mares and a young dragon, all of them asking them questions and staring at them. While Snow Angel was just calmly answering to every question, Eternal Blizzard was more nervous and didn't know how to answer half the questions that were thrown at him, when Twilight Sparkle, who was yet to get an answer to her question, suddenly stepped in and turned her eyes to Snow Angel.

"I'm sorry if I sound rude or anything." she said softly as she stood in front of the scarfed stallion, tilting her head up a little bit so she could look him in the eye. "but, why are you and your younger brother here, Mr. Snow Angel? there doesn't seem to be any coherent reason for you two to come out here."

Looks of disgust suddenly appeared on both of their faces, and Eternal Blizzard just turned his head towards Twilight, sighing softly. "the village we lived in wasn't quite fond of the way we see life." he explained as he looked down to the ground, pressing his hoof onto the ground and drawing a shape similar to the mountain. "they saw us as freaks because we desired to leave that boring place, and as such we were treated like animals by many of them."

"they did a good job taking care of us." Snow Angel said ironically as he rubbed his younger brother's head, looking up to Twilight and then around himself. "speaking of taking care, d'you all know somewhere we could stay? Blizz and I kind of, totally homeless right now." a smile appeared on his face as he said that, as if he had completely forgotten what about the last bit of conversation.

As the ponies looked to each other, with puzzled looks on their faces they started to chat with each other. These strange white ponies from the mountain had escaped their home and had nowhere to stay. Moreover, they seemed like they didn't have even a bit on them. It would be hard to keep them in Ponyville without money. As the others talked, Applejack walked away from the conversation and started to walk around both brother's, her eyebrow raised as she tried to look for some muscle on the two.

"well, I could use this big boy at the farm." she pointed out as she gently punched Eternal Blizzard's arm and rubbed her chin a little bit. "all extra hooves might come in handy, and besides, he does seem like he could rip a tree off the ground with a single buck." she pointed out winking a bit at Blizz, making the young stallion's face become flushed with embarrassment and a little bit of pride.

"I don't think I'm all that strong." he said, smiling a little bit as Applejack continued to stroke his ego to try and get him to come over with them to their town. "b-but if you think I am, I'm pretty sure I could give you a display~" he said with a little bit of a nervous giggle as he walked up to a tree. as he walked, everyone around him could see that his wings were glowing a faint blue color, and little snow flakes were slowly falling from the gaps between his feathers.

As the mares sat there, puzzled, Angel stared at his brother with a wide smile on his face, without saying a word. Blizz smiled as he turned around and reared back to kick the tree, closing his eyes as he thought about just how it be to have a job and pay for his own home. he had always desired that. the feeling of satisfaction brought by living off your own money. however, he wasn't allowed to have a job in his home town as he and his brother were thought to be potentially dangerous. But now, nothing else mattered to him! he was going to be able to get a job and he was happy about it. he felt like he could do anything at all!

With a small smirk on his face, he let out a scream, thrusting his legs back with all his might, slamming both his hooves into the tree, hard enough to when suddenly, his wings flared out, producing a violent gale of cold wind, that froze some of the ground around him. However, Twilight was the only one who noticed that, as the others were awed at the fact that the tree was actually ripped off the ground and knocked a few feet back.

"You made it!!" Angel screamed out, smiling wide and spreading his wings, throwing snow flakes onto the mares that were sitting beside him, as he tackled his younger brother into the ground, holding him against himself, and scratching behind his ear. "You managed to do it!!" he stood up, letting his confused younger brother stand up.

"B-Big bro? w-what do you mean with that?" he asked as his brother nuzzled up against him. "w-why are you so happy and hyper active? u-usually that's my job." he said between little giggles as he felt his older brother's mane rubbing against his neck.

"I think we would all like to know what that was." Twilight said as she wiped off the snow flakes that hit her in the face when Angel spread his wings and flew into Blizz. "the thing with the tree and also the ground underneath your brother." she said as she pointed at the circle of ice that was on the ground where Blizz once stood.

"well... this might take a while." he said as he motioned the others to sit down around him, and somehow pulled a pair of glasses out of his mane, just to make himself a little bit smarter. Once all of them were sitting, he cleared his throat and looked over to Eternal Blizzard. "it's something all of us ponies from the mountain go through." he explained as he looked over at the frozen mountain, his own wings wide spread, glowing blue as they dropped small snow flakes that quickly piled up around him. "when we reach a certain age, the temperature of our bodies can drop so much that we actually produce snow and ice, that can be used for all sort of things." he stood up and flapped his wings, making the snow around him fly into the air, and gather in an icy ball that floated a few inches above his head. "it's really just that, but it takes a lot of time to... say 'Unlock it', and it takes a different amount of time for each of us to do so." as he talked he looked up at the ball of ice, that crumbled up into snow flakes that fell onto him. "mine were unlocked when I was very young, but I was never allowed to use them."

"why wasn't I told of that?" Eternal Blizzard said with a slightly angered look on his face as he stood up, glaring at his brother.

"don't fret, Blizz." he said as he walked up to his brother and put his hoof to his lips. "I always thought you had been told about it, and had unlocked it, and as such I never told ya about it" he smiled a little bit and rubbed Blizz's head. "I would have let you know if I had known you didn't know." he explained hurriedly, so as to not anger his younger brother.

"I guess that makes sense." he said, looking at the ground around him and then up to his older brother and pushed his head into the older stallion's neck, a curious look on his face as he stared at his brother's glowing wings

"... that... could actually have some use." Rainbow Dash pointed out as she walked up to Snow and lightly poked one of his wings. they were actually rather bulky and strong. He seemed like he would be a fast flyer. "think you could handle a job as a Weather pony?" she said as she stood beside the hugging stallions, with a smile on her face. "I'm pretty sure you could fly all around this forest and back in less than a minute."

"I can go faster than that." he said, turning his head to Dash with a smirk on his face, standing up as he flapped his wings, getting some snow onto the rainbow maned pegasus' face, as a challenge, before flying up towards the sky

When they were both in the sky, Snow Angel and Rainbow Dash, stood on a cloud to do some stretching before they could actually start. "we go all around the forest and back. Whoever makes two outta three wins, deal?" Dash said as she turned her head to Angel, who just gave a small nod as they both spread their wings.

When both of them were ready, they jumped off the cloud and started to fly. Right away, it as rather obvious that Snow Angel wasn't nearly as quick as Dash, who wasn't even giving it her all. Dash finished the lap rather quickly and it took a minute for Angel to get to the cloud. After a little bit of bragging, they both got into their position, again. However, this time, Snow Angel suddenly few again, his wings shooting hailstones as he started to fly around the forest, he still wasn't faster than Dash when she gave her best, but because she wasn't actually trying, she happened to loose that lap. After some more bragging, and deciding they would fly to the base of the mountain, then around the forest and back, the two of them got into their positions, ready to take flight one last time. All of a sudden, they both jumped forward, flying as fast as they had been flying before, this time, both of them were giving their all. Before they knew it both had hit the cloud again, practically at the same time. so much so that it was impossible for them to know who had hit the cloud first.

"I guess you're a pretty good flyer." Dash said as she wiped the sweat off her face, gasping softly as she did her best to calm herself down. "I'm gonna have my boss meet ya when we're back to Ponyville." She said with a chuckle as she sighed softly, turning her head over to the taller stallion, resting her head onto his shoulder as she did so.

he smiled and lightly nudged her away from himself as he wiped the sweat off his face, winking a little bit. "y'have yourself a deal, Mrs. Dash." he chuckled as he looked over at the clearing where his brother and Rainbow Dash's friends were. "we should go back to them." he said with a chuckle as he got off the cloud and flew towards the other ponies, followed closely by Dash.

After a long while of chatting and praising, they all went over to their beds to sleep for the rest of the night. While the others slept, Twilight remained awake, a look look of both curiosity and cautiousness on her face as she looked over to the tent where both twins were. She was somewhat worried they might be dangerous, specially after seeing the icy ring Eternal Blizzard had left around himself when he kicked the tree. Shaking her head a little bit, she just dozed off and let go of any worry, she just thought it would be better to be awake to worry. it would just be worse for her to worry about nothing and not sleep because of it.
