Chapters Rarity blinked awake. "Where am I?" She croaked, feeling a sense of dread. Sweat trickled behind her ears. She felt the pinch of a rope tied too tight around her ankles and wrists, binding her so she couldn't move. The lights flickered on, only to flicker off, then back on again, staying very dim. Blinking, Rarity noticed the wood of a house, so she knew she wasn't in any dirty, smelly cave. She shuddered. A familiar chuckle echoed through the rooms.
"Now, now, ah'm not gonna hurt yah. Just gotta cooperate, and we'll get along JUST fine."
"Huh?" Rarity turned her head. "Who's there? Where are you? Speak up!"
"Rarity, all yah gotta do is make me a scary Nightmare Night costume. That's all yah gotta do. Now..."
Orange hooves grabbed her shoulders and, slowly, reached down and untied the bonds. "Are yah hungry? I made a feast that is greatest enough for the best pony in all Equestria."

Spike knocked on the Carousel Boutique's door, holding a bouquet of flowers behind his back. He wasn't giving up on Rarity yet. The door opened. "May I help you?" Sweetie Belle asked, peeking out at the baby dragon.
"Um..." He blinked. "Is Rarity here?"
Sweetie Belle shook her head. "No. She left this morning, saying that she was just out for some errands. Want to come in and wait with me?"
Spike nodded. "Sure!" Over the past few months, he had gone over to the house many times, and had become acquainted with Sweetie Belle. He followed the white filly into the kitchen.
"I was just finishing breakfast. Do you want anything?"
Spike paused for a moment. "No gems?"
Sweetie Belle nodded. "Yeah! I don't think my sister will mind if you eat a few."
"If they're for a project or something, I'm fine with something else."
"No, it's fine." She had already started up the stairs. "I mean, Rarity's okay with basically anything I do."
"Yeah, what YOU do." Spike rested his flowers on the table and ran after Sweetie Belle. "That doesn't mean what I do-"
"It'll be fine. I'll just leave her a note."
Spike shrugged and let out a sigh. "Fine." He climbed up the stairs. Sweetie Belle pushed a few rubies and a diamond towards him. He licked his lips and began diving into the pile of gems. The phone began to ring.
"Hi!....No, Apple Jack is not here. Why?.... Well, Apple Bloom, I don't know. Have you seen Rarity?..No?..Okay...Call Scootaloo, and let's meet here...Yeah, that's a good idea. Bye!" Sweetie Belle turned to Spike. "You haven't happened to see Apple Jack, have you?"
"No." The dragon swallowed the last ruby. "Why?"
"Apple Bloom needs her, and she's not on the farm."
"Oh." Spike headed down the stairs. "I'd best be going."
"No, you can stay. Rarity'll be back soon, I know this for absolutely sure!"
The door opened and Scootaloo and Apple Bloom walked in. They began talking about Rarity and Apple Jacks' apparent disappearance. Spike got up and left. He trudged through the ground, thinking. Where could Rarity be?
***
Twilight smiled as her baby dragon walked in the door. "Oh, Spike!" she cried, pushing a folded piece of paper toward him. "This is from Rarity."
Spike beamed. "Nice." He unfolded and began to read.
My dearest Spike, I'm so sorry. I wish that I could have told you this before, and it's too late now. I really do love you, and I'm afraid that we could never be together. We could've, before, but I was called away, and I do not know where the princess is sending me. Maybe to another land. Maybe still in Equestria. The princesses forbid me talking. Again, I'm so, so sorry. Your love, Rarity .
He put the letter down, tears spilling down his face. He curled up in a ball on the floor. Why? Why can't she talk more to me? Where is she?
"This doesn't seem right," Twilight muttered, jolting Spike back to reality.
"What?" He brushed his arm across his face, wiping most, but not all, of the saltwater off.
"Why would the princesses forbid her from talking? Where is she?" The princess sighed. "I hope she's alright. We can solve this mystery."
There was a knock at the door. Twilight left to get it, then came back with another note. "This one's from Apple Jack."
Spike nodded, unfolding the note and reading it.
Howdy, pardner! Heard about Rarity. She will be missed. Wanna come over to my house tonight? I can make something that can cheer you up, don't worry! Your friend, Apple Jack.
"Can I go?" he asked, standing up. "She's inviting me to her house, tonight."
"Well..." Twilight tapped her chin. "I suppose. Be back by...nine."
"Got it!"
***
Spike knocked on the door to Sweet Apple Acres. He waved to Big Macintosh in the fields. Apple Jack smiled and led him into the kitchen. "Glad y'all could make it!" she said, placing him on a seat at the table. "Ah just need to get something. Ah'll be back with the food."
Spike nodded, settling down on the chair. He sneezed. A low hissing sound came to his ears. He yawned, falling asleep.
He woke up in a room, tied together. Standing in front of him was Apple Jack, a crazed look in her eyes. "Well, y'all fell asleep. Great! Didn't exactly work on Rarity. Had to feed her knockout juice. But you fell asleep. Now we can get down to business. First, are yah hungry?"
Spike blinked. "Wha...?"
"Oh, sorry, forgot to explain..." She circled around the chair, pausing in front of a curtain. "Oh..Rarriiittyyyy...." She pulled a rope. The curtain swung to the side, revealing a very thin, disheveled looking Rarity. With only one problem.
She had no skin.
Spike opened his mouth, ready to scream. Rarity beat him to it. "SPIKE! She got you too?"
Spike closed his eyes. The image of his beloved Rarity burned in his brain. "What happened?"
Apple Jack laughed. "Ah told her ah needed a Nightmare Night costume....and, well, some pony bought it. So ah decided to start a business. Looks like ah got an order for a size filly dragon costume. In purple and green. So ah decided to request her help...." She smiled. "And ah got Rares here tah help me. Ain't that nice?"
"D-Don't call me that!" Rarity shouted. "That nickname is reserved for TRUE friends, not..not...not PSYCHOPATHS!!!"
"Aw, shucks. Stop complimenting me. Ah ain't done nothing...yet...." She cackled maniacally and turned to Spike.
"P-Please don't start...." Spike whispered.
"Why? After all, starts and ends have an unneeded meaning....using them only leads to the disappearance of a soul." She had lost her accent, and was busy untying Spike and hanging him on the wall.
Rarity blinked. "Please, I-I can't hurt Spike..."
Apple Jack paused. "You know what? I actually like the word, Psychopath. For the time being, you can call me...." She tapped her chin, thinking. "Applepath."
Sweat trickled down Spike's forehead. Applepath injected something into his torso. "Just a paralytic agent, so you aren't moving during the procedure...of course, your mouth and head can still move." She took a knife and circled a tiny hole in the dragon's side, pulling away the skin and muscle tissue. She grabbed a bucket full of water and a small tube and fed the tube through the hole into his stomach. "Just to make sure you don't dehydrate..."
Rarity blinked. "Spike, I-I'll get you out. I promise...somehow..."
Applepath whirled her head around and turned to face the mess that used to be one of the most beautiful unicorns in Equestria. "Will you shut up?" She narrowed her eyes. "Let me explain something to you..." She paced over to Rarity. "Spike. Is. Dead. Meat." She turned back to her work. "Now then, we need to fatten you up."
She grabbed a platter of apple muffins, apple cakes, tarts, blueberry muffins, and a random assortment of other sweets. She began stuffing a few of the tasty treats forcefully down his throat. She was humming all the while. "What-Are-You-Hum-Ing?" he asked between mouthfuls.
Applepath laughed. "My favorite song." She started singing the beginning of the first verse of the song, iNSaNiTY.
Rarity launched at Applepath's back, only to be kicked away. Applepath began the chorus.
Rarity positioned herself for another attack, only to be stabbed, hard, in the stomach. She winced in pain, for not having any skin, the knife had nothing to push past. Applepath pulled the knife out, smiling as blood and stomach acid slid from the wound. She turned back to Spike. "Shall we start?"
Spike blinked, taking in one huge gulp of air, and blowing on the edge's of Applepath's mane.
Twilight sighed, turning to the clock for the fifth time in ten minutes. Spike had still not appeared. She sighed. "Oh, where on earth could that baby dragon be?" She decided to head to Sweet Apple Acres.
Knocking on the door, Twilight sighed loudly. Big Macintosh opened the door. "Who's there?"
"Twilight," the purple princess muttered. "You seen Spike?"
Big Mac thought for a second. "Eeyup. Jus' about..uh...half an hour 'go. Haven't seen him..." He trailed off. "Dear Celestia, what's burnin'?"
Twilight was breathing in the tangy smell of...of...of burning apples, cider, trees, dirt, leather....
"Apple Jack!" Twilight screamed. "Spike...we need..."
"What are yah-" The strong stallion blinked. A scream pierced the air. A very familiar baby dragon's scream....
"We. Need. To. Find-"
"The basement...." Big Mac gasped. "She must be. It's the only place..."
"Eeyup," Twilight mimicked the red stallion. She found the storm cellar.
The door was open.
***
Spike gasped. Constant eating. His stomach felt like it was about to explode.
And it did.
Pain racked himself as the stretching organ burst. Applepath noticed the expression. She curled her lips into an ugly grin, tearing at the already stretched face skin. She laughed, no, cackled and drew the knife down the dragons torso. The scene she noticed was terrible. If you weren't a psychopath. The loose pink organ looked as if dynamite had burst. His intestines slid out of the gash, hovering in midair. "Ooh, Rarriiittyyyy...look. Your beloved Spike. AHAHAHA!" The laugh continued.
Rarity, or what was left, was a bloody heap. Where there used to be white skin, there was bloody muscle and the screaming brilliant white of bone. The only part left of her beauty was her blue eyes. She choked, looking up at the hull of her one time friend. "You-"
Applepath sighed. "Ah. I what?"
***
Twilight Sparkle peered into the basement, Big Mac looking cautiously over her shoulder. "I ain't never heard her sing THAT song before. Or speak without her accent."
Twilight sighed. "Oh dear. I'm-I'm scared. We need...backup, yes, that's it."
"Anope. We gotta go down there now. Othawise, that dragon's caput."
She gulped, nodding. "You're right. We..."
Big Mac started walking towards the door. "Those stairs are too narrow for both of us to climb safely. We need to enter through the house entrance."
Twilight sighed. "If it's the only way...."
***
"HA!" Rarity yelled, drawing herself up. She had heard Twilight and Big Macintosh talking outside. "We are SAVED. Twilight and your brother will be here in no time...."
"Oh, really?" Applepath smiled. "I'd like to see them try."
The door leading to the house shuddered. "Here, ah got it," Big Mac whispered. Applepath narrowed her eyes. She grabbed a gas mask from the shelf and tied it around her muzzle.
The door splintered, sending shards of wood everywhere. Rarity screamed in anguish as the splinters stabbed into her. The door shattered.
Applepath turned on the knockout gas. Big Mac and Twilight Sparkle rushed into the basement. Twilight only had time to gasp and ask, "Rarity? What happened?" before collapsing, unconscious. Her brother stood dizzily, before toppling over, crushing one of Twilight's wings. Rarity and Spike fell asleep again. Applepath smiled. "I guess you could say you're all in CaPTiViTY, unable to run away...."
***
Twilight Sparkle blinked awake, feeling groggy but stable. Rope was binding her against Big Macintosh, he being reprimanded in a straitjacket causing him to be unable to break the rope. Confused, she bobbed her head, trying to remember why she was here.
Rarity's scream brought her to her senses.
She began trying to use her wings to push the rope away, wincing in pain when she realized there were two bloody stumps where her magnificent purple wings once were. She began trying to cast a spell, unable to. Instead of her horn, there was a hole in her skin. Leading to the hole in her skull where her had been.
She gaped at the extensive wounds all over her, weakening her. She shook her head, thinking of...
The gas. She remembered the gas, she remembered.
CaPTiViTY, unable to run away.

Rarity screamed. "Please, Apple Jack! Please, st-o-o-o-op..."Tear ran down her cheeks. "I-I know you're in there. Please, please..."
Apple Jack, or, more correctly, Applepath, laughed and wrenched her friend's horn out of it's socket. "You're USELESS now. I don't need you. I never did. I just wanted to cause you PAIN and SUFFERING." She adjusted her self, showing the crude stitching connecting Twilight's wings to her side. "Self surgery is incredibly easy. If it wasn't, I wouldn't be able to fly right now." She sighed. "Time for you to DIE. I got what I needed, and now you don't have it anymore." Applepath's hoof searched on the nearby table, finding a sharp butcher knife. "After all, you were just a character in a story. And who remembers them?" She brought the knife hard down on her captive's left back leg. It slid through the muscle tissue as if it was butter. Rarity gripped the edges of the table with her three good legs, trying to levitate. Trying to...to..
She was held down by a green magical aura. "Thanks for helping on this part. You are sooooo easy to manipulate under anesthesia. You gave me a horn of my own. Thanks." Applepath chuckled and brought the knife down, hard, splintering the edge of the bone. She gave a few more swings and cracked through the leg. She gave a sharp yank and pulled it off completely. Rarity screamed, but cut herself short. "I will NOT give you the pleasure of seeing me scream!"
"Really?" Applepath clucked her tongue. "Well then. There's no point then in keeping you alive." She brought the knife to Rarity's throat. Rarity immediately screamed. "Good." She picked up the white horn and twirled it in the air, before plunging it straight down into her captive's stomach. Rarity flinched and gasped. Blood leaked out from the wound and her mouth. She gasped. Applepath snickered, relishing in the pain and fear on Rarity's face. "Not fighting is the way to go, Rares..."
The only reply was a small whimper.
"Well? That's all?"
"CELESTIA!!!!" She screamed at the top of her lung. "IF YOU CAN HEAR ME, HE-"
She was cut short by the knife sliding across her throat. Rarity struggled to breathe. Applepath gave a maniacal grin and reached in, ripping her throat completely out of her body. "Hello, myself." She tossed the mangled tube over her head. "Haven't we met before?" Rarity blinked at her. "Goodbye, yourself." She paused. Rarity's eye's widened in panic. "SO, want to talk?" Another pause. "Oh right. you can't. Anymore." She laughed. "You were incredibly BORING at times. Dresses, dresses, fancy stitching....I'm just glad I had listened to it. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to do what I am now..."
Rarity summoned her last strength, mouthing the words, insanity, an illusion that can't end. Captivity. Unable to run away.
Applepath broke down into maniacal laughter. She hit the floor, twitching and shaking all over. "Ah, insanity," she whispered, taking in a huge breath. "I feel like...like..." She spread the wing's that once belonged to a princess and lifted until her head grazed the ceiling. "Like..like floating on air...like I am now..." She laughed again. Her entire head twitched, cocking to the side like a confused puppy, before straightening up again in a millisecond. "Psychopath. E." She tossed the knife in the air and caught it using magic. "Living a life, carefree." She turned back to Rarity. "Well? What's the rest?" She lunged for her friend. "Well?"
Then she realized that she had been talking to a corpse for three minutes. She smiled and picked up the knife, running her tongue carefully on the edge. "Insanity, an illusion that can't end."
***
Spike shuddered. He was glad that he had been patched up..but...
His doom was imminent. He blinked into the light door towards the back. The haunting voice in his mind, telling him to run, call the Ponyville Police Force, the insane asylum, anyone. Maybe even Princess Celestia. His heart pounded and he picked himself up. "Spike...?" someone croaked. Twilight. "Paper..in the corner...letter to...Celestia...use blood. if you have to...."She was panting, scared, and weakened severely by the wounds crossing her weak points. Spike nodded.
"Yes."
He managed to scurry away to the corner. He gulped, grabbing the paper and his finger. There was no way to reach ink in this state, and from the sounds of things, Applepath would be going for him next. Heading to Twilight would reveal his position, for the tied captives were in clear view of the open door. He closed his eyes, feeling around for something....
A nail.
His hand hit the sharp point of a nail and sighed, a sad smile playing across his face. He picked it up, feeling the rust around the grooves. "I'm sorry," he whispered, stabbing into his gut and drawing out fresh blood, ink in this case. Twilight gasped.
"N-No," she whispered, straining against the bonds again. Spike blinked, dousing his fingers in the red liquid, writing words on the paper.
He felt sick. Color drained from his fingers. He had already lost too much blood, and with Applepath coming, he didn't how much time he had left.
Not much.
Twilight opened her mouth to warn the dragon, but it was too late. Applepath had left the other room and entered the basement, dragging the battered corpse of Rarity behind her. She was holding an knife using magic, and seeing Spike in the corner, she had fired it.
Called shot to the head.
Just before he died, Spike blew his green fire, sending the letter to Princess Celestia.
Dear Princess Celestia, Hurry Sweet Apple Acr
***
Twilight screamed. She watched her companion fall to the ground. Dead. She felt a tear fall down her cheek. "No..." She struggled against the bonds, only tightening them. The stallion behin dher shifted. "Too late. We can't stop her."
"We can't?"
"Eeyup." He sighed. "I just wish I had a chance to say goodbye."
Applepath threw her head back and laughed. This was too easy.
She twitched slightly, watching Twilight Sparkle lower her head. She smiled. "CaPTiViTY."
She paused.
"The corruption continues..."
Applepath paused. "Thank you, Twilight. I didn't know you liked the song too." She untied her captives. "Ten minutes."
"T-Ten minutes?" Twilight looked up at her, tears streaming down her face. "T-To do what?"
"Ten minutes to stretch your legs. Say your final goodbyes. You have no time left."
***
Princess Celestia yawned. The fire crackled. Why was it that in summer the castle was still cold?
Or was that the sense of fear that something wasn't right?
She paused, tensing up. Something wasn't right. Was her sister doing something or....
A flash of green flame jolted her back to her attention. A letter. From Twilight. Dear Princess Celestia help Sweet Apple Acr
That was all.
The princess put her hoof to her mouth. The letter wasn't written in ink...it was written in blood. Dragon blood.
She stood up and paced in front of the fireplace. Back and forth, back and forth. The rhythmic pounding of her hooves helped her to think. One of the guards noticed. "Princess?" He stepped into the room. "Something troubling you?"
***
Twilight stood over Spike's body, tears sliding down her cheeks and dripping over his corpse. She sighed, holding down a hiccup. She scratched underneath her matted mane and swallowed hard. Her stomach flipped. She sucked in a breath through gritted teeth as she remembered that her horn was now attached to an unworthy psycho living in the body of her friend. She sighed again and lay down. resting her head on her hooves.
"Time's up...." Applepath sung softly, walking up to the disabled princess.
Twilight sighed. "G-Go ahead."
"What?" Applepath blinked, surprised.
"I said, go ahead. I don't need to...I don't want to live anymore..."
"You know what?" The orange filly circled Twilight, snickering softly at the lavender pony's fear. "No."
"N-No?" Twilight's eyes widened.
"Of course not." Laughter bounced around the room. "Why?"
"I-I...B-But..."
"There's one other foal I need to...exterminate...first."
***
Big Macintosh shuddered. This wasn't right. No matter what he did he couldn't move, couldn't escape.
Couldn't survive.
The thought of him dying at the hooves of his sister, his beloved younger sister, made him angry. So angry, Fluttershy would have scolded him. But then again, his beloved would scold anyone if they weren't nice. He straightened up, sweating behind his ears and soaking his forelock. He was scared. No, petrified. He didn't want to hurt his sister.
But this wasn't his sister.
This was a murderess living in his sister's body. A murderess with Twilight's horn and wings. A murderess who...
He couldn't finish the last thought. Applepath had the gas mask on again. She turned to Twilight before turning on the gas. "You think you had the answer. Then I made it disappear." Turning back to him, she smiled a crooked grin. "Outlines, of your life, that I drew for you...." She turned on the gas again. "Fade..back...to..black." She said the last word a lot harder than the others, the expression on her face widening. That was all he saw before the red around his vision switched to black and he passed out.
He didn't want to hurt her.
But he didn't have to.
When he came to, he couldn't feel his limbs. He turned his head, making sure they were still attached. They were. He blew out a sigh of relief and leaned his head on the table. "Has she gone back to her normal self?" he whispered, feeling the shivering shakes racking his body come to end. He closed his eyes before relaxing as much as he could. He was safe.
"Wakey, wakey, eggs and bakey..." A soft voice cooed. Big Macintosh sealed his eyes shut so tight that he thought that he would lose his eyelids.
Which he dd.
Applepath drew the scissors across his eyelids, slicing them off revealing a maniacal grin to a now petrified again red stallion. His heart pushed against his rib cage, beating so loud and fast that he swore Applepath could hear it. She grinned wider. At this point, he realized that the entire room was dark, and the only light was coming from the door in the corner. This meant that he was in the basement, and Twilight was in the room. Where Rarity died. Applepath grabbed a sharp knife and pressed it against his cheek flesh. The metal blade caught the only light in the room and gleamed in his vision. His eyes burned. Applepath gently squirted some liquid into his eyes, reducing the pain slightly. She adjusted her position and pushed slightly on the knife's handle. The blade sliced down into his cheek, only stopping when it bone. Big Mac winced, tears of pain welling up in his eyes, partly from the pain of the knife biting into his flesh and partly from his heart breaking at what his little sister was doing. He opened his mouth to scream, cry out, whatever. What came out was, "Why..why is it so dark...?"
"I was wondering when you would ask that..." Applepath slide the blade up his cheek, ending before the base of his ear. She scraped down from there, peeling away at the flesh. "In the darkness, there's no need for light, so..." The muscle tissue ripped away from his cheek. She moved to the other side and repeated it. "From the inside of my madness..." She yanked on the blade. Big Mac leaped in pain. "Goodbye."
What Time Is It? I've Forgotten
Twilight stared at the basement door. The door was blocked up again. With wood, and bone, and...
She swallowed. She was not going to cry. No, she was not going to give Applepath the pleasure of hearing her cry.
Too late.
A choked sob came between gritted teeth. She tried to stand up and couldn't. The muscles that used to hold her wings twitched. She was trying to hide her face with her nonexistent wings. Pain racked through her, not the physical kind, but the emotional one. Sadness. Anger. She gripped her stomach with her front hoofs and cried out. What time was it? What time?
She let out another cry, this time letting everything out. She could hear Applepath laughing. Big Mac screaming.
All of this.
Where was it... that nail. No..something more.
It was time.
***
Big Macintosh had passed out. Applepath was reaching for a needle to wake him back up when she hard Twilight yelling, "Oh..Applepath..."
The psycho orange filly walked out into the basement.
"Hey, haven't we met somewhere in the past?" Twilight was holding a hammer over her head. She closed her eyes and saw Spike, she saw all the happy times. "Hey, you're special to me, Spike, I need to talk to you..." Tears were spilling from her eyes as she blinked up at the weapon. "Hey...what time is it? How long ago did you die? What day is it? When was I supposed to go to Canterlot again? I JUST DON'T KNOW!" These last words were screamed at the top of her lungs. "Hey! It would be just great if we just forgot...all of this..." She whipped around. "Goodbye, Applepath!" she spat, anger in her voice. "Have a good time in Hell!"
And with those words, she dropped the hammer onto her brain, killing herself.
Applepath glared at the wet purple pile that once was a friend of Apple Jack's. Brain goo splashed around, making little piles at her feet. She suddenly felt something in her. Inside, the Apple Jack was still alive. She was working her way out.
"AAAHHH" she screamed, dropping to the ground. She pressed her hooves against her forehead. "NO! I. AM. NOT. LETTING. YOU. BACK. OUT!!! AARGH!" Pain racked up her body. The Apple Jack inside was kicking at her, breaking out. "No..." Applepath crawled back into the room and picked up one of the knives. "You want to be out?!!! Fine! I'll help you!!" She plunged the knife into her torso, made a small circle, and ripped out the organ she thought that the other side of her resided.
Her heart.
She held it out in front her, watching it beat one, two, three times, blood spilling out her wound. Her hoof was bright red. "I...killed...you...Apple Jack...Now...you...can't...escape..." Her last words spilled out along with blood as she dropped to the ground, dead.
***
"Hey! AJ!" Apple Bloom called, running around the house. "Apple Jack? Where the hay are you?"
She found the basement and climbed downstairs. "Apple...Dear Celestia..."
The scene was gruesome. Apple Jack, lying in a pool of blood, her heart ripped out lying next to her. Big Macintosh, lying on a table, his eyes burning and cracked. When Apple Bloom poked one, it crumbled, leaving an open hole where the eyeball once was. A random skeleton with little amount of tissue was lying in the corner. Twilight Sparkle has her wings and horn pulled off and her skull was crushed in. And Spike had large cuts and was missing his intestines and stomach.
Apple Bloom screamed. "Gr-Granny! Call the police!"
The murders were never solved.
Author's Note
Short chapter I know. But it's over! All of it's over!
