The Day I Met Those Fillies
"Vienna? Vienna!" I called upstairs irritably. My sister, once again, was spending forever getting her hair dry.
"Are we gonna bake or not?" I set my hands on my hips, waiting for a reply,
"I'm coming!" Vienna snapped from the top of the stairs. She was coming down now, finally.
"What took so long?" I demanded. She shrugged.
"Trying to get my hair done," she replied. "Now, did you want to make muffins or not?" I rolled my eyes.
"Well duh."
Vienna grinned and swished her long, black hair.
Although Vienna and I have to same eyes color, blue, we don't look anything like sisters otherwise. She has black hair, I have fawn. She has perfect skin, I have freckles and acne.
I mean, most people can't even tell we're sisters.
"Vienna, where are the chocolate chips?" I asked, opening the cabinet. "I don't see them?"
"You mead teads?" Vienna handed me the bag of chocolate chips, cramming some in her mouth.
I laughed, stuffed some in my mouth, and started the recipe for chocolate chip muffins. My favorite.
While I made those, my sister made lemon muffins.
"Excited about tomorrow?" she interrupted. I nodded quickly.
"I'll officially be a teen," I replied.
"Next comes driving!" Vienna twirled.
Tomorrow was my 13th birthday. I was planning on inviting some friends for a sleepover next week, so tomorrow was just going to be me and my family.
In the meantime, Vienna and I were making muffins for breakfast. My parents were out getting groceries, so Vienna and I had the whole house to ourselves.
"Would you get the eggs?" I asked. Vienna nodded, and grabbed the carton from the fridge.
"Oh, this is the last one. We'll need to get some more later."
I nodded.
"I'll get some after this."
We normally got our eggs from our hens. We had a chicken coop and barn out back. We had four goats and a dog as well.
After our delicious-looking muffins were done and now cooking in the oven, Vienna and I cleaned up. The kitchen was soon spotless, and the whole downstairs smelled like chocolate and lemons.
I took in a deep breath.
"So nice," I said happily. "I cannot wait to eat them!"
Little did I know someone else couldn't wait either.
