The Equine Eclipse

Moon Eclipsed

Chapter 1.

"Eclipse! Tell me the story again!" asked the little yellow blank-flank filly.

"I've told you so many times, Blossom. You should be going home, it's late."

"Please, just a little short version?"

"Fine. But after, you have to go."

"'Kay!"

"I was a little filly when I left the orphanage. As a foal I was found on the street and brought there, but I knew I needed to find more. So, when I was old enough, I ran away. I have been travelling ever since."

"That's TOO short. Tell me how you got your cutie mark!" Blossom exclaimed, nodding to the eclipse on the tall mare's flank.

"Ah, that. It was the night that Summer Sun Celebration was held in Ponyville, and I travelled there to see.When I saw Nightmare Moon, I was terrified. For however old I was, I was a blank-flank like you, and I truly felt like a filly.

"When Princess Twilight and her friends defeated Nightmare Moon, the sun rose finally. I was so overjoyed. And then, in one moment, I witnessed the first eclipse in over a thousand years. And I was the only one looking."

"That's sad. But how does that get you your cutie mark?"

"My horn glowed. I could feel magic running through my fur. With every ounce power I could muster, I cleared the clouds so people could look. But they didn't... That's what got me my cutie mark."

"Wow!"

"It was probably just the wind," she shrugged, "but you can believe I did it if you want. Come on, let's get you home! Your mother will have dinner nearly ready by now. I'll have left by tomorrow, but I'll be back next year. You'll have your cutie mark then, and we can compare stories!" Eclipse nuzzled Blossom on the head, and off she went.

In Appleoosa Eclipse found the nicest people. Not as nice as Ponyville, but nice. They were kind enough to let her in one of their hotels cheap, as she was doing a community service by taking the fillies and colts off their parents' full hooves when working on the orchards.

She galloped to the hotel, my hooves banging on the dry earth. She took a longer route so she could see Appleoosa from one of the tall desert cliffs. The sight was breathtaking.

She sighed, backing away from the edge. Eclipse turned on her hooves and began to pad down to the hotel. She wanted to stay a bit longer, but Canterlot was next- the Summer Sun Celebration was being held there that year, and she wanted to see. If she stayed here another day, she would still be traveling while Celestia raised the sun.

"Howdy, Eclipse! When are ya gonna take that pesterin' bandage off yer tummy? I'd like to see your full body!" Eclipse rolled her eyes as a handsome stallion cantered up to her.

"Bucky, I would if I could, it's too tight. But I'll show you other places when I next come round." Eclipse plodded away, swaying her flank. Bucky wolf-whistled.

"So ya like me?"

"Only if you're good," Eclipse flirted.

"Ya hear that ya'll? She loves me! Ye-ha!"

Eclipse just walked away away, checking out at the hotel and carrying her saddle bags to the Appleoosa train station.

The wind whistled through her dark-indigo mane as Eclipse waited patiently for her train to arrive. She let out a breath of exasperation. Her mane was scraggy and knotted, her blue fur was sweaty and hot, and her one black forehoof was dislocated so she winced whenever she put her weight on it. Eclipse scanned the area with her eagle-like violet eyes, looking for some shade to hide from the desert heat.

Because, of course, Appleoosa wasn't all it was cracked up to be. With its forests and orchards, it was hard to believe that the small town of earth ponies was in the middle of a desert. This made Eclipse get constant headaches from the sun beating down on her. She hated being in direct contact with the beating sun, so as soon as she had spotted a tree with shade, she quickly galloped to cover.

Eclipse relaxed in the welcoming shade, letting out a sigh of relief. She took a moment to breath; Appleoosa was a very welcoming, small town where everybody knew each other. She had been coming here every year since she was a filly. She couldn't remember how many times it had been, but it must have been many since she had been there to witness Blossom's mother get her cutie mark.

Apparently, the train to Canterlot would be there in two minutes, but the delays most trains took when travelling to Appleoosa made it more likely to be five.

Because of this, it would be soon that the many other passengers travelling from Appleoosa to Canterlot would be there soon. If Eclipse was to get a seat instead of standing up on the train, she would have to wait on the platform- in the beating sunlight.

Eclipse, using as much courage as she could muster, galloped out to the platform. The sunshine was hot, and she was sweating, making her once silly mane sticky, and even more knotted. She knew that it would be worse on the train, compact and full. The Summer Sun Celebration was an annual event, so many crowded to wherever it was being held- even more this year as it was being held in Canterlot, the largest city in Equestria, and the most well-known.

Suddenly Eclipse heard the scraping of the squeaky wheels on a cart- and a cart she knew well. She sighed in exasperation. She didn't really love him that much- she'd just had a crush on his brother, but when he got married, the younger seemed so much more sexual. She wasn't really in it for the love, she just wanted her stables to have a pony explore them, in more ways than one. And so, when she whipped around to face handsome Bucky, her crotch went warm and wet.

Bucky licked his lips as she shivered for him, and he leant forward to kiss her on the lips. Eclipse let out a moan.

"Eclipse, I know you want me to ride you 'till the sun goes down, but I have to get my apples on sale at the Summer Sun Celebration. But ah'm sure we could sneak in some vigorous sex on site, my apple." He winked and smirked, but his words only sent a new wave of pleasure down Eclipse's spine as she imagined what would go down...

"Y-yesss Bucky..." she moaned.

"Calm down, m'darlin'. Not for a long time yet." Eclipse suddenly went red as a beetroot in embarrassment as she realised how sexually she was behaving.

"S-sorry," she squeaked. Thankfully their conversation was stopped as the many other passengers arrived, mere moments before the train pulled up by the platform. They boarded the train, and of course, it was packed. There was one seat left, and Eclipse slid in it. As the train began to leave she realised her mistake, her thoughts being ripped apart by the shrill screaming foal right by her ear. Her mane went straight up in surprise, her ears went flat, her eyes went wide and she jumped three feet in shock.

Eclipse budged to the end of her seat. The foal kept screaming, but she put her hooves over her ears. It didn't work very well, but it blocked out some of the sound.

Great. She thought, it'll be just like this all the way to Canterlot. She felt slightly outraged that the foal was allowed on the train, but what can you do? The mother probably argued with the train staff for ten minutes before they agreed; this mare was shrill and annoying, bathing in other ponies' misery. She didn't scold the foal at all, she just ignored it, giving it the occasional pat on the back. Eclipse sighed. At the next stop, she would stand and let someone else well in the misery of sitting beside the ugly cow and her foal, but for now, it would be best to get some shut eye, while the baby had stopped screaming.

Eclipse relaxed and fell asleep.
