Oc origins: Crescent blade
A typical day
Previous ChapterCrescent walked into school yard while waving goodbye to his father one last time before he turned back around and sighed. Crescent tried his best to avoid the stares a few students gave him.
"Hey Crescent!" Crescent's ears twitched at the shout and turned to see on the other side of the school yard a grey pony waving at him from a table. Crescent ran up to him and smiled.
"Hey Ocean." Crescent said to his only friend, except not really.
"Ready for some last minute tutoring?" Ocean a grey unicorn with long black mane asked adjusting the orange scarf that he always wore.
"Why does he wear that, probably a whole story of his"
"Okay then Crescent let's see your homework." Crescent's horn glowed as he pulled his binder accidentally spilling out several other things out as well.
"Crap" Crescent cursed as he scurried to pick up his books from the ground.
"I'll help." Ocean sighed out as his horn glowed orange and picked up one of Crescent's textbooks by the spine.
"Wait don't grab it like that!" Crescent tried to warn before a bunch of comic books spilled out from it.
"Crescent, what are these doing in your math book?" Crescent twiddle his hooves avoiding Oceans stare.
"Um.....bookmarks." Ocean sighed again collecting the comics in his magic.
"You know i should confiscate these from you" Ocean warned as he levitated the comics over his head.
"What, no!?" Crescent tried to reach the comics with hooves but was stopped by Ocean's hoof on his chest. Ocean having a few years on Crescent easily towered over him by two feet.
"Wow the freak is so wimpy the nerd can over power him." An obnoxious voice that made Crescent's skin crawl laughed out. The comics were snatched out of Ocean's aura and into the light blue aura of Steadfast a blue coat and white straight cut maned colt as old as Crescent himself but the size of an earth colt.
"Give them back!" Crescent shouted as got up.
"Make me" Steadfast taunted. Crescent tried to rush for him but was immediately tripped by another aura grabbing his hind leg.
"Ha how was the fall wingless bat." One of Steadfast's cronies laughed out. Not to the surprise of Crescent all the other students just gave slight glances before continuing on with their day.
"Nice try rat, for that you get the penalty." Steadfast focused his magic pulling on the corners of the books straining them making Crescent's now unshielded eyes widen in terror as heart pounded in his chest.
"No don't!" Crescent cried out as his eyes grew to the size of saucers.
"Beg me!" Steadfast shouted as he laughed at Crescent's begging.
"Hey, what's going on!" A guard shouted
"These colts are harming him." Ocean said standing next to the guard.
"Is this true?" The guard asked shifting his gaze between the two colts.
"I was simply helping my fellow classmate, he tripped and dropped his books." Steadfast said with a kind tone lowering the comics to Crescent who clutched them in his hooves as close to him as he could.
"That's not what this kid said." Steadfast's smile didn't falter at all.
"Say what's your name?" Steadfast asked making the guard raise an eyebrow.
"Its Shining armor." Steadfast peaked at that.
"Really, my father talked about you he thinks you have a promising future." Ocean could tell from his face Armor wasn't buying it all.
"I'm going to take you to the principal this is too suspicious" Steadfast gave a quick glare at Crescent making him flinch before turning back to armor.
"But Mr.Armor surely you can-"
"Principal office now and I'll tell captain strife about your actions." Armor spoke sternly cutting Steadfast off forcing him and his cronies to follow him he could tell just from the scared look of the colt alone that Steadfast was lying. Crescent breath a sigh of relief the pounding of his heart lessening as Steadfast got farther away.
"You okay Crescent?" Ocean asked as he looked Crescent over.
"Yeah I'm fine, thanks ocean." Crescent said as he continued to clutch his books. Ocean lit up his horn and started collecting up Crescent's books in his magic and putting them in Crescent's bags.
"I got these" Crescent said as he carefully lowered the comics into his bag as carefully as possible his hooves shaking the whole time.
"So....those must be special to you" Ocean said awkwardly trying to get Crescent's mind off things.
"Ye...yea..yeah." Crescent stuttered out.
"Some of these are actually the first comics my dad ever got me." Ocean smiled at Crescent's happy tone.
"So your dad got you into comics" Crescent smiled showing off his fangs.
"Yeah he told me it's the heroes he read about that made him want to become a guard, and he wanted to share that inspiration with me" Crescent blushed a bit.
"That sounds really geeky doesn't it?" Ocean adjusted his scarf while chuckling.
"Yeah, but what's so bad about geeky" they both laughed enjoying the bad joke for awhile until Crescent clutched his bag harder as he sighed.
"I can't believe that jerk almost ripped them." Ocean looked around glaring at everypony around them.
" They all just stood around not caring what Steadfast was doing to him, he almost cried for celestias sake and they didn't even care" Ocean thought bitterly.
"I can't believe these ponies" Ocean grumbled out grabbing Crescent attention back.
"Hey Ocean can i ask you something?"
"Yeah about what?" Crescent looked away embarrassed but his curiosity outgrew his embarrassment and worry.
"Why don't you ignore me like the other students or... do what Steadfast does?" Ocean sighed giving another silent glare towards the other students.
"Because unlike others I'm not superstitious about thestrals." Crescent looked back up at Ocean surprised he didn't use the word 'bat pony'.
"How?"
"My dad's a thestral and a proud one." Crescent just continued to look on confused.
"But still why did you decide to tutor me, for free no less?" Ocean just adjusted his scarf while keeping a straight face.
"Because you needed help."
"That's it?" Crescent asked his voice squeaking a bit.
"Yeah, you were struggling no one was helping you so i did." Ocean said matter of factly. Crescent rested his head on the table with his ears flopping down.
"I still don't get why ponies look at me like I'm a train accident, and then avoid me like the plague i know like weird but still" Oceans straight face turned into an uncomfortable one as he began to stutter his answer.
"Well Crescent...you see um, how do i put this..."
"What just say it." Crescent said after seeing him stutter for a full minute. After composing himself Ocean finnaly.
"Crescent you look a tiny bit evil" Crescent raised his head from the table and cocked it in confusion.
"What?"
"I'm not saying you're evil I'm saying you kinda look the part." Crescent just continued to look on in shock.
"How do i look evil!?" Crescent shouted
"Well the red slitted eyes don't help." Crescent rolled his 'evil looking' eyes.
"My mom has the same eyes, and no one says she looks evil." Ocean scratched the back off his head awkwardly avoiding Crescent's stare.
"Well your red and black." Ocean said making Crescent eyes widened to the size of saucers.
"How does my coat and mane colors make ponies think i'm evil." Ocean sighed rolling his eyes.
"Its an old really dumb superstition, i think it went red and black ponies cause strife destruction and chaos or some bull like that." Crescent rubbed his eyes in frustration.
"So because of some old stories and stuff ponies have written off red and black color schemes as monster's?" Ocean nodded in confirmation making Crescent smacked his head onto the table cutting into it with his horn.
"That's...so...stupid." Crescent raised his head and looked at him.
“Well leave it too a school full of high society children, a superstitious cowardly lot.” Ocean said bitterly glaring at the other students.
“i didn't even want to go to this school.” Crescent moped.
“Really?” Ocean turned back to Crescent at his complaint.
“Yeah my grandparents forced my mom and dad to send me here.” Crescent looked down grumbling. Ocean nodded while using his magic to unstuck Crescent's horn from the table. The bell ringed signaling the beginning of class making ocean sigh.
“Hey if you want to talk more, come see me at lunch.” Ocean smiled under his scarf.
“Thanks...friend.” Crescent said hesitantly before getting up walking away levitating his glasses back on.
“See ya.” Ocean waved goodbye. Crescent smile faltered as he continued to walk towards class keeping his head down as a few students gave him stares. Two filly’s giggled at him muttering blank flank making Crescent lowered his head further as started to walk upstairs to the second floor classrooms.
“Hey” Crescent looked up to the pair legs he bumped into. A large chubby unicorn filly with green dreads and aqua fur looked down at him.
“Wh..w.what?” He stuttered out as her horn glowed.
“Steadfast's rules freak, wingless bats need to fly up.” She telekinetically pushed him hard enough send tumbling back down the stairs headfirst. He fell down the flight his saddlebags falling off and his glasses smashing against his face ending up with Crescent ending up as a heap at the foot of the stairs.
